Chicago Music Venue Empty Bottle Reopens in Ukrainian Village | Eater Chicago

"Based in Oak Park, the Animal Care League provided the Empty Bottle with its latest resident cat after staff learned about an older feline with a 'crabby disposition' and few chances at adoption; Finkelman and his team regularly visit the shelter to play with residents and check in with staff, and they adopted Peg to give her a home around humans who love and care for animals." - Naomi Waxman

We adopted our baby boy Strudel from here. The man who helped us was super knowledgeable, giving us in-depth explanations of every cat they had (history, personality, whether or not they’d be a good fit for us) and personal recommendations for food/toys/vets/etc. As first time cat owners, he also gave us a ton of tips/tricks on cat ownership in general that we’ve been putting to use. One thing we appreciated was that they provided us with a bag and a couple cans of the food Strudel was eating in the shelter to get started. We also love their policy of accepting back any pets adopted from them that need to be surrendered, they commit to these animals for life even after they find their (hopefully) forever homes. This is what allowed us to get our baby boy, after the previous family to adopt him gave him back. Thank you for keeping him safe while he waited for us.

Best animal shelter I have ever been to, I’ve donated yearly since I was a kiddo. Obvious that the staff cares a lot and keeps the place clean!

*update* We highly recommend Wright-way Rescue in Morton Grove. Amazing, welcoming staff- and we brought home a kitten. They deserve the business! As for Animal Care League- very disappointed with how my wife and two young daughters were “welcomed” as we inquired about adopting a kitten. We felt dismissed simply being told to fill out paperwork and return later. It’s not as if they were busy with other customers as a lot of the volunteers were standing around, simply staring at us as we stood at the counter. It wasn’t until we were already out the door that a a volunteer (not the staff person at the desk we spoke to) thought to invite us to their BBQ event later today, which included children’s activities. How could you miss on offering that? We would have loved to give a kitten a home, as we had given their thrift shop business and my parents had adopted two dogs from this place over the last couple decades.

I am currently helping out fostering Coco she is 1.5year old pit. She has been spaded and is such a loving dog. She loves going for walks no matter what the weather. She loves belly rubs, loves pulling on large ropes. I feel she would be a great young family dog. As you can tell she likes to be right next to you. When I got to work she has been great getting into her cage. Only seems to focus on her toys not my shoes. Loves treats. I will provide more information soon.

Amazing experience with Animal Care League, lost my dog, and one of our police officers found her and took her to this location. So if you ever lose your pet or want to adopt a pet this is the place to check out. Want to thank Kerry she help me through this experience. I thank God that the police officer and the Animal Care League found my Beautiful Mia.

I recently adopted Ashton (cat) 6 month old now named (GHOST) The process was fair. I specially loved when they pulled up his medical records! I completely forgot her name so sorry but the lady that helped us was awesome. They don’t yet have a clinic but I hope they get the funding to do so bc there’s nothing better than taking care of your own shelter animals that were adopted for the rest of their lives. Thank you to the staff for all they do specially the volunteer work.

This shelter truly cares for the animals with love, lots of food, clean cages and tons of belly rubs, and behind-the-ear scratches. The primary concern is making sure the animals are adopted into loving homes. Truly great shelter! Thanks for all you do for our fur babies!
