I was looking for a healthier option for cookies and I found it! I was first introduced to these cookies when visiting my cousin. Someone gave her these cookies for her birthday and she loves them, and now they got me hooked, too. I had the Chocolate Sable from my cousin and immediately had to order more for myself. As a chocolate lover, naturally I ordered the Chocolate Sable and chocolate Pecan Cookies. I went to pick up from Anita Bakery in Sierra Madre. CA., and had the chance to talk to the owner, Anita herself. I learned that all ingredients she uses are natural and contain no artificial flavors in all her cookies, they’re made to order and can be vegan and gluten-free. I’m telling you, they’re YUMMY and yet healthy! What I love about them is these aren’t just sugar cookies which I don’t have the sweet tooth for it. They’re sweetened lightly so you can really indulge in the chocolate. My new favorite is the Chocolate Pecan now but for sure will try other cookies on my next order.

I took the cookie baking class with my friend and really enjoyed the experience. The bakery is located in a New York style loft and might be hard to find but just look for their sign! Anita explained the ingredients and took everyone through the process step by step. We were given a paper with the recipe to take down notes and during the down times, she took the time to answer any baking questions we had! Her husband would also go around clear the tables and help students with any baking problems. Overall, we ended up with a bunch of delicious cookies that we were able to separate and package. It's a super fun class if you wanna take it with friends or meet other people.

I went back for more choices including their vegan ones. I found their vegan cookies were surprisingly as tasty as their regular. They definitely used great quality of ingredients. Without the butter, vegan cookies tend to be more crumbly. Still, this is by far the best tasting vegan cookies I have tried!! ____ I am not into super sweet stuff so I’m very picky about desserts. These cookies are addictive! Super low in sugar yet definitely packed with flavors from natural ingredients. Even have tasty vegan/gluten-free options! I highly recommend them. My favorites are the black sesame, hazelnut, & pistachio ones 😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Since this is an artisan bakery, best to order a few days ahead online. I didn’t know about that but did call to check what types of cookies were available and got an assortment of them for a last minute party. BTW, Anita also makes very delicious cakes on demand.

Anita’s cake is perfect in every way, even though I am not a big fan of sesame flavor cake but I have to say she has her magic way to make all ingredients blend in beautifully. This matcha sesame mousse cake is so soft and so smooth, u can taste the matcha and the sesame with the right amount of sweetness. This is the second cake I tried from her, her Earl gray cake is definitely heavenly and a must try. Her cakes are simply fantastic. Would want to try more.

Anita Bakery’s cookies are absolutely FANTASTIC!!! These artisan cookie is probably the best cookie I have ever had in my whole life. The vegan options are super tasty as well! Very challenging not to eat them all at once! You can taste the love that the owner bakes into them. Highly Recommended!!

However many stars there are, Anita Bakery deserves them all! Five seems just too few to encapsulate what Anita brings into the world via her kitchen. Everything I've tried from her bakery can only be described as the best experience a baked good can deliver, ten times over. They have the most satisfying level of crunch and sweetness to complement the specific ingredients of each kind of cookie. My favorite are the chocolate pecan and the black sesame cookies. I get the gf/vegan kind because of a sensitivity to dairy, which with most treats I am tempted to cheat on because of the difference in quality, but with Anita's cookies, there is no compromise! They are equally as good!

If you haven't tasted Anita's healthy, delicious, authentic make-from-scratch bakery, you are missing out!! I highly recommended that you check out her website for their amazing baked goods. Everything is so good but my personal favorite is the hazelnut cookies!!

We found them through FB groups and reached out online. We wanted to get a matcha cake. Ordered online and picked up easily near downtown Sierra Madre. Cake was well made and delicious! Anita bakery also has baking classes too!

This review is for both a baking class that went so well that I asked Anita to bake my 9 year old's bday cake! The class was amazingly prepared. The flavors were perfectly balanced. My group of friends had a ton of fun! The cake was not too sweet, and the chiffon was heavenly!

I've been getting cakes from Anita for several years now. The quality here is top tier. This is great if you want something nicer and more special. If you want to be more hands on and add a personal touch, Anita also offers some classes to help you reach your baking goals! The neighborhood here is also lovely.

My family and I had an amazing time with Anita and Kieron at their cookie class. We had ages 2 through 75 and the class was perfect. Anita had all the ingredients set up in advance for our three cookie flavors and explained the ingredients, techniques, and provided great tips and hands-on guidance throughout. While our last batch baked we learned how to do chocolate piping and decoration on a batch that had already come out. It was so much fun, we learned a lot, and Anita and Kieron are an absolute pleasure to be around. It's clear they are both so passionate about what they do. On top of the awesome experience we now have so many delicious cookies- we did chocolate chip walnut, black sesame, and cranberry almond and they are all SO good! Highly recommend Anita Bakery for a class or to purchase any of her incredible creations. Time to eat more cookies :)

Anita is so sweet! I had the pleasure of taking her cake making class. She's just the right amount of knowledge, patience and perfection just like her work! She takes the time to explain the process at every point to you. She also educate you on the right ingredients to use as well as which ones not to use and how to use it should you want to attempt to make it at home on your own. Her and her husband make the perfect team. They make the class run as smooth as the cake we made. One is teaching the other prepping the next ingredient for us to use. They both also finishes each other's sentence or help whisk their demo bowl while the other is walking around to us to help us individually. I loved seeing this duo team. I love how personable they are. Super easy to get along with. You know it's an amazing experience and they're good when your cake turns out better than some of the cakes being sold at bakeries. They think of everything. From the set up to the aprons to the French music in the background to the deco in the restroom, the adorable cake box and even the swag they sell with her branding on it. She even has her own book- three vol of it. Unlike other places, they're super humble. They don't push their products on you, let you enjoy a slice of the cake Anita made with you, keep the cake you made in tact so you can take it home and overall they make sure you're having a good time. This was such a great experience. I can't wait to sign up for another class!

Slowly going through Anita's cake catalog and she does not disappoint... this time is the 8 inch black sesame matcha, one of her most popular flavors. Took it to a Thanksgiving dinner for 16 people. It was a mix of adults and high school kids. They all raved about it. Ingredients are fresh, not overly sweet. Some say it's the best cake and people came back for seconds... which is really something as this is dessert after everyone already had a wonderful Thanksgiving feast and oh so stuffed but we all can't get over how good the cake is.

I ordered the mini lava custard moon cake online. The inside is more custardy then egg yolk flavor. 6 mini moon cake for $38. Anita was very nice and personable. I personally like more of an egg yolk flavor. If you like more of a custard flavor, you will like these moon cakes. She offered me some of their cookies and they were delicious! Their store is kind of hard to find. It's on a residential street. The store is the 3rd unit in a row of mixed use housing complex. It does look cute outside.

I attended Anita's baking class where we made a Christmas baked cheesecake tart! I had such a great experience-- learned so much, and also got to meet other baking enthusiasts at the same time! I HIGHLY recommend taking a course with Anita! She will take the time to introduce you to different baking techniques, and will also give you individualized attention since the class size is small (only 4 people per class!). I never thought that I would be make to create a beautiful cheesecake tart that tasted amazing as well! Thank you to Anita and her equally friendly and kind husband, Kieron! I also ordered Anita's fig+oatmeal cookies, and they were delightful. Just like her cheesecake, her cookies were the right amount of sweet. I love the balance of flavors and textures that Anita has obviously mastered. I can't wait to join her for another class! :-D

I had a great time at Anita's baking class! Anita and her husband, Kieron are both such awesome people - kind and welcoming to all the participants! In fact, that is what made the class worth taking, I instantly felt at ease and the time sure went by quickly! I took home a festive and delicious cake for my family along with some pre-made assortment of yummy biscuits available for purchase at the end of class. I will definitely look into booking more classes in the future and perhaps bring a friend or two!

The best cheesecake- Ever! Highly recommended bakery with sorts of tasty treats. Cookies, birthday cakes, and wedding cakes are all wonderful. But if you want the best treat for yourself or your family (or as a gift) - get the cheesecake!

Anita is a great baker and instructor. She is so passionate about her baking and has lots of patience with her students. I took a lava custard mooncake class from her over the past weekend. And it is the best mooncake I ever had. I will definitely come back to try her other baking classes.

I have tried a few of cookies from Anita Bakery, I can say they are the best in town. Especially the Black Sesame Cookie and the Matcha Sable Cookie are my favorite, they are very rare & unique. The texture of these cookies just so perfect, not too chewy and not too dry. Time to try their moon cake!

Their list of cakes is super interesting and not something you would easily find in other bakeries. I love black sesame, so this time we tried the 6" Black Sesame Cheesecake for mother's day and it was spot on!! Just the right size for our little family of 4 cuz I hate having leftover cakes. I love the roasted aroma from the black sesame mixed with cream cheese and the cake is just the right sweetness!! Can't wait to try their other selections. I would definitely recommend them!!

I took the cookie baking class and had a fun time learning how to bake cookies. Everything was laid out and Anita took everyone through the steps. She answered all the questions that the students had and even taught my friend how to roll a cake roll! Her husband is also super nice and came around to those who needed help/ took pictures. Highly recommend if you wanna do something fun with friends or on a date. Parking was also super easy to find!

3 things that really stand out about Anita Bakery: (1) Anita and her husband are always sooo sweet and welcoming. (2) All their cookies are delicious and you can't go wrong. Their specialty mooncakes for the mid-autumn festival were absolutely mind-blowing. I feel like most Chinese people I know (myself included) these days regift any mooncakes they receive because we are all tired of the same old taste. BUT the ones from Anita Bakery are VERY different - the lava mooncake had custard oozing out and was sooo buttery. My family - who never touch mooncakes anymore - were fighting over them and rationing them into halves because we couldn't get enough. I plan on ordering like 10 dozen next year!!! (3) Location for pick up is super easy in a cute mixed use building right off of N. Baldwin in Sierra Madre with lots of street parking. Highly recommend buying Anita's cookies for yourself AND as a gift, especially with the holidays coming up (I believe she recently started selling cookies in gift boxes).

As a person who doesn't like super sweet stuff. Anita Bakery is my go to store that I would buy again and purchase for my friend and family. My favorite flavours are cranberries almond and matcha almond which are crunchy and fresh. Highly recommend to you all who are looking for high quality cookies and dessert!!!

My husband loves coconut sugar balls, and I love matcha sable cookies. Both are delicious, very buttery, and not too sweet. Also, I like the vegan and gluten-free cookies taste much better than other bakeries. It can tell that the ingredients are good. I am excited to know that Anita Bakery sells moon cakes this year. I took the snow skin mooncake class before. Anita gave me to try the baked custard moon cake that was yummy. It tasted fresher than other moon cakes. I love her baking class. She is very patient and a good teacher. I learn so much from her baking skills. My cake looks excellent and also tastes yummy. I'll definitely take her class again.

The cookies from Anita bakery is not the typical ones you can buy from a store. Each cookie is hand crafted with fresh ingredients you can actually taste. They are not overloaded with sugar and are extremely buttery and flaky. I love pairing them with a cup of black coffee.

Ordered a gift box with mixture of 3 different flavor cookies (Chocolate Sable, Matcha Almond and Pistachio). Also had a chance to try out other cookie samples. If you are a vegan, this shop is for you. It has many choices. The Matcha Almond is my absolute personal favor. I could small the amazing aroma even before open the box. All the cookies have great taste with freshness that go well with either tea or coffee. The delights can be very addicted once you start eating them. Also appreciate the beautiful and attention to detail packaging from the shop.

Melt in your mouth, freshness you can taste! I ordered a mix of cookies for Father's Day. I submitted my order super late at around 9:30pm the day before Father's Day, and emailed them that I know I waited until the last minute to place my order so anything they could do would be greatly appreciated. I wasn't expecting a response right away, back but Anita emailed me right back at night. I got my order the next day at around 11am. I met Anita and her husband when I picked up my order. They are both lovely people. It felt like chatting with old friends! The cookies look simple but don't get fooled. They are packed with fresh ingredients that you can taste and appreciate. They are not too sweet either. My sister in law doesn't like sweets but she was blown away by their black sesame, almond matcha and pecan. She even took extras home! That's how good there were. Even non cookie lovers liked them!

After tasting the cookies and the cakes from Anita Bakery, one can appreciate the delicate balance and the effort that went into each of them. The cookies are flavorful and yet not too sweet. They go perfectly with a cup of coffee, tea, or just by themselves. Brought some to share with families and most couldn't put the bag down! All commented on how good they are. We ordered online and have them directly shipped to Northern CA. These cookies arrived in very nice packaging, and tasted wonderfully! Sizes are very generous and the freshness have long longevity thanks to high quality of ingredients.

I am not a sweet person and I usually don't eat cookies. When I first tried Anita's cranberry almond cookies, I love it immediately. It is not sweet and greasy at all. And the taste and texture are just perfect. I can totally tell the cookies is freshly made and the ingredients are top quality. She has some other favors like black sesame, fig, pistachio...... they all good, but I like cranberry almond the most!

The cookies from Anita bakery are so delicious. They are addicting!! There are so many choices that you can keep coming back and find your next favorite. I really like the vegan and gluten free cookie. You can tell the cookie are made from the premium natural ingredients. I highly recommend this family style bakery!!

Took a baking class for the strawberry watermelon cake and it was awesome!!! Surprisingly, the combination of the two fruits in a cake tastes really good. Anita was really good at explaining everything step by step so it felt so easy. The class is good for a group event even with young kids included. I also bought some gluten free as well as regular cookies from the bakery and it taste really good. I would recommend anyone and everyone to try it.
