MASHIRO

"After Ashiya and Gion, the new frontier for Hiroyuki Koshimo is Karasuma. The shop’s previous name, ‘Roiro’, meant ‘Black as Lacquer’, so Koshimo changed it to ‘Pure White’ to set a different tone. Though his technique is French, Koshimo is not limited by genre, incorporating Japanese elements to broaden the expressive range. Risotto in season, prepared with Yosano rice, is a perennial favourite in this lively and hospitable eatery." - Michelin Inspector

we came here for a late night bite as everything else in the area was closed and was extremely satisfied with our meal! this was the best tofu i’ve ever had in my life. it was so soft and creamy, flavor was amazing. the assorted sashimi was so fresh. the stewed fish head was sooooo sweet and delicious. i also ordered the assorted charcoal grilled set which was sooo good, they give you a small personal charcoal grill so you grill the seafood yourself. it was super simple and served with salt and a lemon wedge but it brought out the flavor of the seafood so well. my friend ordered the rice bowl and she said it was incredibly fresh and flavorful. the egg yolk was so rich and the soy sauce was not too overwhelming but added the perfect amount of flavor. i wasn’t able to finish the stewed fish because i ordered so much and was so full but it was so amazing and worth every penny. and as we were leaving (around 23:45), they gave us some hand warmers because it was a little cold and it was the perfect cherry on top to a perfect dinner!! thank you so much to the staff at anji rokkaku!!! will definitely recommend to friends!

It was the most fullfiling experience! The good choice of local cuisine and most helpful staff. We came around 9pm, they quickly found a table for 9 persons. Fish, sake, tofu and rice meals were great! Will definitely miss such taste and service back home.

The food was amazing!! The stuffed shiitake mushrooms were my favorite but everything was tasty! I love that they have “normal” tables and chairs that you didn’t have to crawl over bare footed to get to your seat! That’s tough after a few drinks and fill of food.

Came here on a recommendation. No wait for a table on a Sunday evening. Food and service are excellent. Options for English ordering on your phone with a QR code and free WiFi Huge selection of hot and cold sake including their own version. Sample plate of local foods available. High quality sashimi, and the ice cream desserts are delicious.

If you want to try Kyoto seafood, you must stop by Anji Rokkaku. They have excellent sashimi, sushi, grilled shell and fish, shabushabu, ramen, etc.. All fresh and delicious, the price is reasonable, and the service is friendly. We order sashimi, grilled shellfish on the table, and Mackeler. I recommend the lunch menu also.

May be I don't know what to order or I am not a local. The food is not my cup of tea. I ordered chief's special pick.... 5 items. Nice decor. English menu. Reasonable priced. Prepare to wash everything afterwards... Smokey.

Touristic yakitory restaurant. Not horrible, but you may consider it to be too expensive. Be aware of the dirty cups they use for sake degustation sets.
