Google
DO NOT PAY CASH! They drinks were fantastic but when we went to pay for a party of 4 they said they couldn't make change for cash. I would have understood if they were card only place but they aren't. I only had cash to pay for the tab and they finally relented and took my cash and gave me proper change but I had to pretty much guilt them into it. Which by the way made me feel awful, so thanks for that.

Google
Great creative drink, nice patio to hang out on, and really friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Google
There was a Nigerian food truck which was amazing!! We had oxtails rice and veggies 😋 the venue only serves drinks which are amazing as well! I recommend the revolver if you enjoy Whiskey! Babe had the fox river bramble cranberry which was delightfully refreshing 😋

Google
Good drinks and service. Seating is mainly outside as indoor space is limited, perfect for summer hangouts. Also, it has convenient parking even in downtown as there were plenty of spaces. There is also a food truck on site, although we didn’t get to try it. Only complaint is that some of the picnic tables are old and could use an upgrade/replacement as I got a splinter on my leg.

Google
Great service and knowledgeable staff. Cocktails are great with some more unique and controversial drinks for particular palates - but have found there is always something for everyone.

Google
I liked the setting. Feels laid back, and the barrels add to the atmosphere. It'd be nice if a tour into the ageing / distillery room was permitted. Update: was there about 4 months back. Really nice selection of liquor made in house

Google
Great spot. Felt very down to earth and “townie”. Love the outdoor winter options- my first igloo experience. Loved the drinks- maple bark and their current winter gin and tonic! …Only tip is suggested masks for staff. We’re vaccinated and boosted but would like extra safety measures when in a shared space. Thanks.

Google
Such a great find in A2! We were in town for the football game and I’m so glad we found this hidden gem. Great cocktails and service. And there were so many other drinks I wanted to try! Will definitely be back the next time I am in Ann Arbor.

Yelp
Been here a number of times and still hadn't reviewed! Cool industrial vibe here with lots of outdoor seating. A lovely place for happy hour or to play hooky from work. Or be here at a normal time for normal reasons, haha. Cocktails are always decent, though maybe a bit overwrought and on the sweet side. Can't say I can always taste all the ingredients they put in. Sometimes simple can be best. The N/A watermelon spritz I had didn't have much flavor. Could have used less spritz, I guess. Today specifically we came for the Tacos El Panda truck; they have great birria and we fancied a cocktail as well. In the past we also enjoyed the Juicy Oyster truck.

Yelp
OK, so this place is adorable! I'm so excited we were able to come. No food, but there are some bar snacks! Service was amazing. If you have lots of time or people, mix and match some flights, and compare the cocktails. The gin options are delicious, and so are the different liqueurs (we ended up fighting over the blackberry and coffee)! Definitely plan on taking some home.

Yelp
Excellent cocktails, tonnes of outdoor seating, nice and helpful bartenders...what more can you ask for? Currently sipping on a decently priced, fantastically-made martini with their winter gin, which was described as a pretty typical dry gin and I would agree. I ordered off menu but the menu itself is pretty interesting and has quite a few intriguing cocktails to try. All are 20% off during happy hour (2-5pm). They have wifi as well and the info is posted on the menu behind the bar. The location is good - off the beaten path by a block or two so it's quiet and not super overrun, but close enough that you can easily combine with zingermans etc

Yelp
Craft cocktails made from house made spirits, lots of outdoor seating, lots of parking, food truck popups, and it's dog friendly. What else could you ask for? We went on a weekend night when Deutsch Troit German food was the pop up. The food was great and we enjoyed the summer mule and the non-alcoholic drink, too. They have a large tent outside for those who want covered seating as well as tables that are in the sun. Definitely, a great place to eat some dinner and have a great cocktail.

Yelp
We came here to start our date night off with some long awaited drinks. It was our first visit, and we highly anticipated this stop. The staff was very accommodating in answering all of our questions about their spirits and liqueurs. I tried a flight of 4 spirits, and my fiancé got the cocktail that was the "Giving Cocktail" that benefited the Huron Valley Humane Society. She forgot the name but it had cucumber, LOL, and I hade a Bourbon Bramble after my flight, both drinks outstanding. I wanted their Fall Gin, but they were out. Then like magic, a box appears on the bar and low and behold, Fall Gin!!! My Fiancé was interested in their rendition of Absinthe. One of the staff brought her a sample, then showed her this great trick for making it drinkable on the rocks. We ended up walking out with lighter pockets, but it was worth every penny!

Yelp
Such a chill place to hang. There is minimal inside seating. They have a lot of tables outside to sit at. Amazing relaxed atmosphere. I can't remember which drinks I had. I know that I had two vodka drinks and they were very tastey. They have a great selection of liquors and make good craft drinks. Bring some friends, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere!

Melissa G.

Yelp
Not only were the cocktails here creative and delicious but the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and social. Ended up buying a few bottles and cannot wait to come back for our next visit. The only downside to this place is that it's not close to my home.

Yelp
I had never been to the A2DC prior to this week when I dropped by to pick up a complimentary Moscow Mule Cocktail-To-Go in connection with a Yelp Elite event. In business for about 5 years, the local distillery is housed in an old brick building tucked into a residential neighborhood on Felch St. one block west of off North Main St. The site serves as the distillery itself as well as a rustic cocktail bar showcasing and serving its many varieties of spirits. While picking up my Moscow Mule, I was kindly offered a sample of their Limited Edition Barrel Reserve Spaulding's Coffee Liqueur. Yo!...I was immediately drawn in with the deliciously smooth flavor of this house-made concoction. It was so good, I immediately bought a full bottle on the spot to take home. A2DC also has extensive outside seating under tenting for those who prefer to nurse their cocktail under the stars. I'm glad to have stumbled on this Ann Arbor gem as it provides another excellent option to grab a quality cocktail while supporting a local business. Cheers!

Yelp
Decided to check this place out before dinner yesterday. What a cute space! Very cozy and inviting. (Indoor and outdoor seating.) First, let me say besides the space being cool, the staff was awesome! They were friendly and made us feel at home. At one point, I felt like I was hanging at a friend's place rather than a business. Within our group, we ordered three different drinks and all were delicious! I can't stop thinking about the Camp Russian, and am planning on going back soon to get another one. (The marshmallow made me so happy!) Overall, five stars! Drinks, space and staff were all awesome and I would (and already have) highly recommend checking them out. Cheers!

Yelp
I have been a huge fan of A2 distilling for years. Spirits have been great and the atmosphere has been neighborly and cozy. Tonight may have been a miss, but the service was so egregious that I feel compelled to give our experience some attention. Two of us walked in at 9:15pm on Saturday: There were three people working and we were the only patrons in the bar. One woman was cleaning tables and seemed inconvenienced by our presence. The other two people behind the bar were visibly irritated. We were not greeted; and in fact, I asked if they were still open because the vibe was so hostile. I was not offered a menu. My White Russian cocktail came with four ice cubes and the rocks glass was half full. Bizarre. We felt so uncomfortable and exited as quickly as possible. Just a super disappointing experience at an establishment we've really enjoyed in the past. It will be a long while until we return.

Yelp
Blink and you'll miss this place, but you should definitely look to find it! Located in an old industrial building, Ann Arbor Distilling Company is the perfect spot to get together with a small group of friends on a weekend night. When we arrived recently, there were already people congregated in the courtyard despite the slight chill, and a food cart selling hot dogs outside! While my friend and I had wanted to come and try their bourbon cocktails (being from Kentucky, it's almost obligatory!), but they were unfortunately out. We decided instead to grab something else on the menu, and I ended up sipping on an attractive drink called a Greyhound. The venue is spartan but rustic, with modern wreaths (for sale!) decorating the walls, wooden tables supported by old cask barrels, and high barstools. Live music was playing in one corner, something that the distillery brings in every weekend night. We swayed to the music, sipped, and chatted with our small group until we just had ice cubes left tinkling in our glasses. I'll look forward to my next visit here, and hope you check it out in the meantime as well!

Yelp
Delicious and well crafted cocktails. They make their simple syrups and bitters in house. I took home a bottle of the coffee liquor because it's exceptional.
google avatar

Yelp
We love this venue and have supported them since they opened. Great spirits, staff and friendly environment. Our only concern is the "short pours" we have received the last two times we have been there. My wife ordered the key lime cocktail Friday night and the glass was barely half full. For $11 and todays economy, that is just not acceptable. Not saying that they need to increase the alcohol content, but at least balance your mixes so the customer gets the presentation of a full cocktail for the price paid.

Yelp
AA Distilling Company is the perfect spot to take a good friend, a lover, and a stranger to! With an intimate and curated vibe, you will feel cozy and welcomed in the most rustic of ways. An elaborate menu full of fun creations that taste good on the tongue. A wide range for those wanting strong or more hidden flavors. Super cool distillery that showcases their own products. Hands down the best absinthe I've ever had! I will for sure be there again :)

Yelp
I went here on Halloween and had a nice time! They had outdoor seating with heat lamps so it was comfortable. The staff was friendly and appeared in good spirits which is always nice to experience in the current times. They had hand sanitizer out if you wanted to use it. My favorite thing is that they chose a drink to help fundraise for a local non-profit. We went on a day that was sponsoring an animal rescue that my brother and sister-in-law adopted their dog from. The drink was unique and tasty (gin + tea mixed drink). Plus it made me happy we were supporting a great cause. Wonderful time!

Yelp
If you are a gin lover, then you have to check this place out! They make a gin for each season and you can try them all year long. Staff is very friendly!

Evan F.

Yelp
Cool spot but ridiculously understaffed. It took literally 30 minutes for a martini on a Friday around 7pm.
google avatar

Connor A.

Yelp
Great experience again. Unique and special drinks. Seasonal mulled cider with whiskey was great fall drink! Cozy vibe inside an old warehouse building. Staff was uncomfortable that we were there 30 minutes before closing even though they were still open. Will visit again.

Yelp
Live the location, the vibe and the drinks are delish here. We were there when the German food truck was there and found it paired wonderfully with the drinks. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Came in for some drinks and loved my experience. The staff here are amazing. Will, Rachel, and Hallie are all great and beautiful people and will treat you right

P S.

Yelp
Not sure if there are new owners or new management...but customer service needs repair. I expect it's been difficult finding and retaining good staff but the 'team' seems out of place. The vibe from customers is patience but taking an hour to mix cocktails from the menu is unacceptable. Products are great (gins, whisky's, etc) but A2DC may need to simplify the model to improve the customer experience. If the customer space is too large for the staff, maybe close the tent until service can be improved. Maybe simple, two ingredient cocktails instead of 'exotic recipes'. I'll be back but hope for a better experience-like the 'old days'.

Yelp
Amazing staff and drinks! I came here earlier this week for the Spring Cocktail class event they were holding. I'm so glad I went! We had a great time. We learned about the distillery first and were able to go into the distillery room. We learned the history of how they came to open it, who works there, their backgrounds and what they plan on doing for the future. The class itself was great. We sampled 5 different cocktails (and received the recipes for them!) and learned some techniques for how to serve them, pour the drinks, use the herbs, etc. So, it was also very informative. We received some light snacks that actually paired with the drinks and were suggested on how to eat with the drinks. Overall, great tasting room, awesome ambiance and incredibly friendly staff. Definitely stop in and try their spirits!

Yelp
Visited here for the first time with a friend on one of their anniversaries. I'm amazed at why I had not come here before. I love the location and inside. It is very comfy, cozy with seats at the bar, along the walls and some table tops in the center. Since we came during their annual celebration, it was packed, but it was not too hard to get a few orders in at the bar. The bartenders were very nice and made some very delicious cocktails. Unfortunately, I forgot which drink I had ordered, but I always go for anything with whiskey in it. And the two cocktails that contained their fox river bourbon was delicious. Will be back again to get some more drinks and take away a few of those bottle of fox river in the future.

Yelp
Come relax and sip and savor your Spaulding White Russian on their lovely outdoor patio! Bring a few friends and enjoy the intimacy and atmosphere of this hidden gem in Downtown Ann Arbor!
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Beautiful location tucked away in a neighborhood off of downtown Ann Arbor. It has a more intimate feel being away from the main drag with its ambient lighting and small tap room space. There were two or three barrels that serve as tables with stools for seating. There were 10 or so seats at the bar. Menus are around at all the tables, but go to the bar to be served. It has a very casual feel. You can order a flight or a specialty house cocktail. Important note: they only make their house cocktails. If you aren't feeling one of those, I encourage you to do the flight. Either way, you will get to try some really interesting locally made spirits. I had an old fashioned with the fall gin. It wasn't my favorite drink, but I appreciated the creativity on the menu and the samples of other drinks from around my table.
google avatar

Rosie K.

Yelp
Fantastic staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Of course drinks were great as well! will be going back for sure!

Yelp
I was excited to come here since I love local places and craft cocktails! I brought my husband, sister, and brother in law & we all tried the Moscow Mule which was $9 or $10 per person. I was so disappointed!! I love Moscow Mules & this one totally missed the mark. I think it was the ginger beer that was lacking. The bar area is quite small, but the distillery area is huge. I was surprised that it was a way older crowd than I'm used to seeing in A2, like majority in their 40's! The highlight was joining the distillery tour (more like a talk) which was given by the owner. He was so nice and well- spoken. We only stated for a drink then went to Main Street where there was a lot more room to hang out. I might go back, but I'd definitely get something else next time.

Jill G.

Yelp
Love all of their cocktails, and their Michigan whiskey and all of their gins are my choices for cocktails at home!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place in Ann Arbor for a cocktail. It used to be my favorite hidden gem but I realized they are growing up and branching out! I'm glad it is turning into such a success. Do yourself a favor and go try a White Russian now! The house-made coffee liqueur is to die for! The only bummer is that they close pretty early and the space is tiny. It's simply but stylishly decorated and the servers are true to their craft. They are all talented and seem to truly love what they do. I've purchased a bottle of the gin as a gift a couple of times. The recipient was from out of town and a lover of good gin. He remarked, "Never have I tasted anything like it. Where can I buy more?"
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
What a cute little space with some great drinks! I had a lovely night here hanging with my brother and friends. The lines were long to get drinks, but other than that, it was a nice place to sit outside with a nice cocktail and chit chat.
google avatar

Scott Z.

Yelp
First, who knew there was a Felch Street in Ann Arbor? I feel like I need to know the history behind the name choice. (Check urbandictionary.com if you don't know this word) Second, they have a nice cocktail selection. I like their vodka and rum. The night I went, there was a hotdog vendor outside that was very creative. Finally, the production area doubles as an event space. Very cool and industrial but could use better ventilation (my only criticism of this place). There's a very powerful fermentation odor.
google avatar

Meghan W.

Yelp
My friend and I tried this place out tonight for drinks. These were our thoughts: 1) The atmosphere has an industrial feel. We sat at the bar and could see the factory to our left. That was all in all okay, but keep in mind that it's not quite warm and inviting. 2) The staff were friendly enough, but when we asked about them making a specific classic cocktail, he didn't seem to know what we were talking about. It seems that they may only be good at making what is specifically on their menu. 3) The drinks you get are based upon the liquor they have. So, you cannot get much other than the menu they have. I'm a fan of Last Word and Ravens Club, and these drinks unfortunately did not compare. They just didn't have the depth in flavor and seemed too syrupy sweet (even the Old Fashioned). 4) You're going to pay $8-10 a drink, which didn't feel worth it to us. I like the neighborhood and the fact that this is local, but I'm not so sure how soon I will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for the first time last weekend with a few friends after hearing multiple positive reviews from others. Although I had heard good things about their White Russians, it felt a little muggy for that, so I asked for a recommendation, explaining that I had never been there before. When asked what flavors I liked, I said that I tend to prefer cocktails on the sweeter side, both fruit-sweet and sugar-sweet. The response: "You want a sweet drink? Well, we're not South U, but I guess the Tiki Treehorn might be something you could try." Really not in love either with that level of condescension or with the drink that was recommended. I preferred the drink my boyfriend ordered, a blueberry drink made with sparkling lemonade that would've satisfied my apparently unsophisticated-college-kid palate. Open to trying this place out again, but I won't ask for any suggestions next time around.

Ed R.

Yelp
This is a real cool - out of the way spot. Away from the craziness of downtown Ann Arbor. Great bar and very friendly bartenders. We went on Friday night. They had a singer Rochelle Clark. She was awesome. Very laid back atmosphere- low key no crazy people This is what Ann Arbor used to be lIke back in the day. Place has a neighborhood feeling about it. We will be back.
google avatar

Zac B.

Yelp
Small place with a decent tap room and some good outdoor seating. Seats can fill up pretty fast so I recommend going early, we were lucky and a nice couple offered to share their table with us. I really like how this is set into part of the neighborhood, really feels like part of the community and a nice stopping point on a warm day as you head downtown. They don't have a big selection of drinks to choose from and all their drinks looked like they are pre mixed so you cant order something not on the menu. That's a little disappointing but they are new so maybe they can expand into that in the future (maybe have a full bar stocked exclusively with your liquor?). A different variety of drinks with something that should appeal to everyone. I'm not really a Vodka or Gin person and I found their drinks to be pretty decent. The Thyme Flies was excellent, the white Russian was a standard well made white Russian and the Moscow mule was pretty good. The Old Fashioned made with gin was terrible though, it just doesn't work with gin you can pass on that one. As the weather warms up I will make some more stops here, I really enjoyed it and if they can expand their bar by a little bit I would up them to 5/5
google avatar

Christina E.

Yelp
This place applies the "slow food" philosophy to drinks. All spirits served here are made on site, drinks are carefully planned, and additional ingredients locally sourced. The vertical structured business model is unique, and unlike any other local options. Every aspect of every component that goes into a drink is under the mixologist and distiller's control, with no corners cut. The quality in this method shows and is standout. Last night, I had the best cocktail I've had in Michigan here. It was the "shrub" - order it. The gin, vodka and "Kahlua" are excellent - whiskey will be ready in 2018.

Yelp
I went to the Ann Arbor Distilling Company on their opening day. It has a great look, feel and overall ambiance. The tasting room is general, has a long bar and had three to four bartenders assisting customers. The lighting was dimly lit which was great for sitting but all of the drinks were on a chalkboard menu on the wall, which was not lit up and made it hard to read. It is opening night so everyone was getting used to the system and how to best take orders. Because there is seating at the bar, it seemed like a free for all trying to order drinks, set up a tab and then wait for the drink. All of the spirits are made on site. I tasted the gin and it was definitely stronger than store-brand gins. I got the Moscow Mule which was good but too limey (for my taste) and the Dark and Stormy which didn't have the dark because they use a lighter colored rum. The rum had a more almond taste than vanilla taste but overall shined in the drink. The bartenders seemed a little confused while making the drinks, constantly referring to their recipe sheets. Additionally, they took three separate orders at a time, which made me feel that they might miss my drink, especially when a person who ordered last got their drink first. The only other point that was a little surprising was the cost of the drinks, opening day drinks were $9 each. I am not sure if I would pay more for that but the prices were not posted either. I do not think the quality of the drink matches the price yet. I think if they can figure out the ordering procedure, it could streamline the process a little bit better. I will definitely come back here as the overall atmosphere was nice, staff was great and supporting a local business in this unique market is pretty awesome. Check this place out.

Yelp
Well we'll be back here for sure. A distillery within walking distance? Um, yeah. Went in with a couple of friends for some pre-dinner drinks. Nice little tasting room, fairly small, but well decorated. Good cocktails from grapefruit and thyme combos, to dirty martinis, to straight up G&Ts. Asked about a tour and they led us through a door into their production space. There, a guy named Phil told us all about their products (gin, vodka, and rum, whiskey coming this summer, statewide distribution in April), their distillation equipment (custom made in germany, ask about the assembly instructions), and all kinds of stuff about how they think about creating their flavor profiles etc. Plus, they had a deal going -- $10 off your tab if you buy a bottle, so we walked home with a few bottles of gin. Looking forward to some cocktails and becoming a regular!

Yelp
I guess it all depends on what you are looking for in a place to have a drink. On the upside the drinks are delicious. I had a Moscow Mule and my friend had the Cuba Libre (with Mexican coke with the real sugar) and both were excellent. The staff is really knowledgeable and can tell you all about the ingredients. We sat at the bar so we had plenty of access. We were educated in the creation of shrubs (not the kind you plant in your yard) that was really interesting. On the down side, because each order is prepared individually without prepared mixes it takes a long time to get a drink. We went opening day (a madhouse) but returning two months later they still have not gotten much faster. The room is small without much seating and it is a little chilly, the metal stools don't help warming you up much either. On the mid side, it is a little pricey but not really more than you would pay in an upscale restaurant and with the attention and detail put into the drinks it is probably a break even point. I can't wait until Summer to see if they expand outside with a possible deck and tables. See you there in June.

Julie T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time last night with a few friends. The cocktails were delicious. I had the Pomegranate Fizz, others in my group had the spiked hot cocoa and Annie's Eyes, and everyone enjoyed theirs. The space is great, you really get a sense of the history of the building which was once a factory of some sort. Friendly staff/management. I also loved the old map of the neighborhood on the wall. Only downside is that the place filled up quickly and there aren't many places to sit, so get there early!

Yelp
Two words for me- Dirty martini. My date had a White Russian and declared it excellent.

Yelp
Great products...so much better than the mass produced big guys. The bartenders make amazing cocktails and you can take a bottle home!!

Yelp
Met some friends here and brought our dog! Yes dogs allowed. Had a delicious Madras Mule, a spicy twist on the Moscow Mule. It was heavenly! Just wish there was seating inside for people in wheelchairs since the high chairs and barrels, altho fun, were difficult for me.

Yelp
Delicious rotating cocktails and a cozy, cool space. The patio area is a fun place to hang out in the summer!

Yelp
Came in town to visit family..husband who happens to be a collector of fine burbons..they had one burbon on the menu he doesn't like gin or vodka we ask the bartender if she can make a bourbon old fashioned she looked at us like we were crazy and said the proof is to high to for an old fashion (huh?) although she had all the ingredients to do that, from there it just went downhill their cocktails were overpriced and not very Tastefully done I think the only words I could use here is pretentious and condescending. So if you want to spend that kind of money on a cocktail I would suggest going somewhere where they have a mixologist not some snooty woman behind a bar that thinks she knows things that she does not know! Give the customer what they want and don't interject your opinion!

Yelp
Super casual. Excellent spirits. Wish they'd improve tables , seating, inside....but still fun and basic neighborhood "gin joint".

Yelp
Excellent gin! Was not offered to sign up for the mailing list like the female patron next to me by the female bartender? Hmmm

Yelp
Has a very hip crowd. Their cocktail list is short but quality. The Moscow mule and the White Russians were excellent.
