Good coffee and taste. The Vegan burritos were nicely made and coffee was good. Service for drinks was good and food was very very slow. One of the burrito was super soggy as well. It’s a house turned to a cafe and can be lot cleaner.

Google
very cute place! I got a dirty chai and it was amazing! My friend got a doughnut and it was very cutely decorated. the staff was very polite even during a small rush of customers. Cute artwork cute atmosphere and very good coffee. Coffee was smooth and not acid which is very essential for a good cup of coffee. 5/5 will definitely stop by again!

I was expecting a good filling brunch here. Good thing was their coffee was good (Cafe Mocha) The ambience is supposed to be funky, eclectic but it was just unhygienic and unkempt. I really wish they focus a little more on the cleanliness of the kitchen, tables, restroom and floor. There was no air duct so we were freezing as it was a cold morning. The food was below average and would never go back again.

My Snickerdoodle Latte was absolutely delicious. It took me back to memories of cookies. The egg sandwich was delicious and the eggs were steamed which I loved, the perfect consistency. We also split a tasty strawberry waffle with both maple and strawberry syrup. It was wonderful that the kitchen plated it on two plates. The service was warm and welcoming. The restaurant is in an old house which made the dining experience nostalgic.

Staff was friendly and attentive. They brought a bacon piece to my dog. We dined in and ordered the breakfast burrito and two different bagels. The food was fresh and the coffee was wonderful. The atmosphere was very welcoming and I appreciated the artwork of local artists they had.

I think about Anna Bannana's like getting invited to breakfast at a friend's house. It is a pleasure to go and I always look forward to the food and company. Their menu is somehow both large and small at the same time. The ingredient are high-quality and the food is prepared in a small kitchen. They have a back room for added seating and the walls are decorated with art from local artists. The people who work here are lovely and I look forward to seeing them. The outdoor porch and patio are very nice for sitting on NW 21st Ave and reading, eating, or thinking. The coffee is excellent and many people come here just for that. They also have a large and current selection of newspapers for reading. This place is a fixture in the neighborhood and city. It should be regularly enjoyed as such.

Google
Really wanted to support a small business and I wanted to try their peanut butter moka. The moka was good. However, if you order food bring patience since it is only a small kitchen with one person behind it. I ordered a "Croissant special" and it took half an hour on a day with few patrons. Furthermore, while wishing the success of this business I hope that the owner improves the cleanliness of the place. The worn-out/outdated carpet needs to be replaced with a longer lasting vinyl plank flooring to make it more inviting.

Google
This place was really impressive. The food was freshly made, tasted great, and was big in portions. The man working there early in the morning was very friendly and made eating there a nice experience.

Yelp
Anna Bannanas is the quintessential Portland cafe with quirky vibe. The interior gives a bohemian vibe with some posters and random things around. The place has lot of local arts and crafts. I really love the outdoor seating because we went there on a sunny afternoon which is just in front of the cafe and we can just watch people enjoying the coffee with greenery all around. The coffee was really strong, I should have ordered a bigger one to dilute the richness of Cappuccino but the taste was really good. The service was welcoming and friendly. But the hot chocolate was amazing. Overall, if you want to experience the quintessential portland cafe, this place wouldn't disappoint. I really love this place and would visit again.

Yelp
I have heard good things about this place. However, they let dogs wander around inside the restaurant, contrary to Oregon Health Authority Food Sanitation Rule 6-501.115. Gross. I won't be going.

Ray S.

Yelp
Wow, what a mess. It is the most dirty, gross restaurant I've ever been to. Not in any way coolio/portland charming. I found this place on Yelp. I looked on their website and saw the price for the breakfast burrito on their menu was $7.95. I saw after the fact Yelp showed it at $9.15. When I ordered the burrito, I was charged $10.15. I'm from Washington so I'm always expecting tax so I said I think I owe you more money because I had handed him at $10 and he said "oh don't worry I've got you" haha like he was doing me a favor--but then I realized he charged me an extra dollar on the $9.15 price that was also on the menu at the store menu. In other words, he without asking me--automatically tipped himself!!! I find this completely unacceptable and stealing actually! I would've tipped but to add it without asking--not OK!!! The burrito was a joke. Tiny, wet and drippy with almost no noticeable cheese. All around bad experience, I won't be back or reccomend!

Greg W.

Yelp
You have to try the Mediterranean scramble. Great combination of healthy ingredients. Add in a peanut butter mocha latte and you've got a delicious breakfast. Friendly owner and staff. Highly recommend.

Alisha C.

Yelp
Stopped in for the first time today, got a breakfast burrito and latte to-go. Both very yummy. The guy working was super nice and chill. Great salsa with the burrito. Came out fast.

Trish M.

Yelp
What an awesome find! Funky atmosphere with friendly service. The Vegan breakfast burrito might be my favorite burrito in all of Portland. The salsa was quite spicy but really tasty. My daughter loved the bacon.

Jeannie D.

Yelp
I'm torn. After reading the mixed reviews I decided to give it a try anyway. NOT washing your hands and touching all the pastries is unacceptable and disgusting. I watched the lady touch her nose, and move her hair out of her face all while working in the pastry case - NO hand washing, no gloves. I didn't order any of that so whatever, I guess. We were given (no shit) a used cloth napkin, along with a wrapped set of silverware in another not too clean looking napkin. After eating half my food, I had to ask for the mocha I had ordered. Not a big deal the people were really nice. Yeah it's an old building but (guessing) pet hair (on my sons water glass) the dirty napkins, the no gloves, it's too much. The food I had was good, that's the sad part. I can't eat here again. I'm sure they'll do fine, but I'd you're any type of germaphobe - you're not going to be comfortable here.

Dave K.

Yelp
Disgusting!!! Reviews are purely based on the cleanliness - it is so gross, carpet soon old and disgusting, there were flies early in the morning. It smelled so bad, we could barely stand to pickup our food. Unfortunately we ordered on phone or else I would not have picked up food from here. I'm still skeptical if I will even eat my food. If they couldn't keep the place clean, I worry how will the food be fresh. Please do not visit this place. Health department should close this down! As an update: we were hungry (this was our meal for eating in flight), so we gave it a shot. Not good and had to throw away the sandwich and wrap. For the price, definitely not worth it.

Yelp
A perfect American breakfast experience awaits you here. Anna Bannanas is located in a cute old house with a variety of styles, ambiences, and seating areas. The team is very casual, which is the perfect vibe for a morning spent here. Coffee and espresso is good here, but the team is small, so depending on how busy they are, you may be waiting more than normal for your orders. This is totally fine for me, since catching up with friends is a nice distraction, and slow mornings are always a nice treat for me. The burrito was great, but there was a ton of liquid inside. The front patio space is ideal. It is tree covered, quiet, quaint, and the shade provides great places to read, people watch, and to enjoy your food and coffee. With most PDX breakfast places curating aesthetic over simple experiences, Anna Bannanas is unique and a great place to enjoy.

Yelp
I love rand and staff. IMO they have the best coffee and awesome friends working here. Today I got a breve and it is awesome as usual. Appreciate the ability to hang out and just listen to interesting conversations. I am getting more and more truthful with how I truely feel tho. These guys are G's Free Ancient Accepted Masons like me. WTF are we doing? My heart does not rest in messing with an existence that does not speak to my heart. Again, they have awesome food coffee and I will always come here as long as plan good is not started:-)

Sahra K.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with a homey, unique vibe to it! The staff is really kind and attentive My latte was a bit strong, but the breakfast burrito was fantastic and quite large! They also have an adorable patio out front that's covered with tree branches. Overall, a nice way to start your morning.

Selena F.

Yelp
The service is incredible. The owner, who was working, is so very friendly. I had a vegan breakfast burrito, which was quite yummy. I also had a honey cardamom latte. It wasn't the most perfectly made latte (no late art), but it was so very yummy. The friendly atmosphere really made this a great meal.

Megan M.

Yelp
I really hate to post a negative review of a small business which has been in the neighborhood for decades, but the service we experienced was so bad it was funny (in hindsight). We ordered two entrees and a coffee. Coffee came out first and waffles soon after. Immediately after dropping off my food, but not my partner's order, the server sat on the porch steps less than 10 feet from where we were eating to smoke a cigarette. Didn't want to bug her, thinking she was on a break and someone else would bring the remaining food, but it never came. After she was done smoking I tried to get her attention but she went back inside where there was a line waiting for service, I had to wait through the line to ask about the missing breakfast only for her to realize she had never put it in. My food was completely cold by the time my partner's food arrived. This spot has the cutest patio and a really homey vibe, I so wish the service had been better because I would love to come here again. The patio however did need some cleaning up, it was very dirty and there was an army of biting ants marching on the wall next to our table. To whoever owns this place, a little TLC and attention to service is needed! I hope you can improve these issues and hopefully I will be back to try again.

Yelp
Wonderful little cafe that serves a hearty breakfast and delicious coffee. Hubby went with a very healthy scramble while I went with the breakfast croissant special. Both were made with steamed eggs which were delicious. It's small and on a cold rainy day, it was chilly but otherwise a quaint little place. The server (owner?) behind the counter was super nice.

George W.

Yelp
This place was really impressive. The food was freshly made, tasted great, and was big in portions. The man working there early in the morning was very friendly and made eating there a nice experience.

Yelp
Cute little eccentric house restaurant.. The food is fresh and delicious great portions in my opinion ..sometimes the workers are a one man show sometimes but they always deliver .

Yelp
I'm really disappointed, I used to frequent this place a couple years ago and came back while visiting today only to have a very poor experience. After waiting 15+ minutes for my coffee and breakfast sandwich (while she stepped away to socialize with a customer about the eclipse?), I found a long strand of fake hair from a clearly costume wig that the other woman was wearing. Any sort of long hair you should secure while cooking, any food safety certification will tell you that, but let alone the fact that cheap costume wigs are made of plastic and notoriously shed is another major concern. When I brought this up, my coffee was remade but took another 10+ minutes. I wasn't given a receipt because the woman taking my order couldn't figure out how to set thermal paper in the printer. I checked my transaction since I didn't get a receipt and saw I had been overcharged by a decent amount compared to what the menu lists. When I brought this up, both women were apologetic and I was refunded. I'm not sure if they're both new or stepping in temporarily (they seemed very scattered considering it was pretty slow) and I understand mistakes happen but both of those are notable issues in their own, let alone together. I'm not planning on returning anytime soon but I'm hopeful this was a one-off or that the owner isn't gone long term. This place has alright prices, good enough food (everything was decent, although my sandwich's croissant was really oily and didn't seem very fresh/quality), a beautiful patio and great location. I appreciate they made things right but none of these issues should've occurred.

Yelp
Anna Bannanas is an eye catching name for sure. Such a cute shop tucked in a cozy corner. I had a great breakfast here and got to sit outside enjoying the view. The staff was so kind and we got into great conversation. They made sure that everything was delicious. A great spot if you need to study or get some work done as they have a little library as well!

George O.

Yelp
Good food/breakfast drinks at a reasonable price in a really cool artsy space. However, the best part was the service. Loved it!

Duy N.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with interesting lattes. Also love the breakfast sandwiches as they steam their eggs so its extra fluffy. My go to is egg croissant and some protein. They take their time because it's about quality! Been here three times and service / atmosphere is wonderful.

John L.

Yelp
Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had- scrambled egg, a little cheese, spinach, onion and tomato. Cool vibe place - an old house converted to a cafe

Natalie W.

Yelp
Service was extremely slow, for very expensive food and coffee, the food was ok but I wouldn't return. There was no apologies and they seemed irritated that the forgot many of our orders and had to reminded. I will say the man at the front was going very well it was his first day and he was trying his hardest. It was a cute little place I just would not return.

Christine H.

Yelp
Love this place- 2nd time here. Love the hybrid animal prints/cards. Had a witch's cottage which is gingerbread and caramel, banana, and Belgium waffle with fruit. Got a few cards and stickers too.

Kim L.

Yelp
My sausage and egg bagel sandwich spoiled my tastebuds so much so that it's set the new standard for what a great sandwich tastes like. I also had the snickerdoodle coffee which was also fantastic. I highly recommend this place. I'd have included a pic but it was so good I housed it and have nothing left to take a pic of.

Jen H.

Yelp
Charming staff. Good coffee and cute space. You'll get a good deal for drinks and food.

Erik M.

Yelp
It's hard to find a decent breakfast place that's open when I get off of work. I had a strong craving for breakfast this morning and decided to take a quick walk here. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. I ordered two south of the border scrambles, some hash browns and bacon waited a short time. And headed home food neatly packed. My partner and I were both surprised not only by the portion sizes but the quality and freshness of the food. Everything was delicious and I'm glad I found a spot I can get a good meal after working all night. I highly recommend giving this spot a try, I'm excited to try something new next time!

Casey L.

Yelp
Things we enjoyed: cute artwork, absolutely delicious bagel sandwich Things that were ok: A cappuccino Things that weren't great: an Americano with cream that tasted suspiciously like a brewed drip coffee with milk, and not even a very good one. Forgot to add salsa for a breakfast burrito so really it was a breakfast sandwich wrap. A little on the dirty side (not lovably grungy, which would have been fine) Would definitely recommend the breakfast sandwich - steamed eggs were great! But likely won't come back here again.

Pasi J.

Yelp
Such a thoroughly amazing oasis! I feel lucky to have come across this pleasant place during my first visit to Portland. I expected to enter a café but ended up departing half an hour later feeling like I had visited the house of a friend or neighbor. The person helping me was extremely nice. I got an Indonesian Scramble that was delicious and just subtly but interestingly spicy enough to make it stand out from a typical scrambled entrée. My cappuccino was a defiant mess in the best possible way: not a fancy model of a drink posing for a picture but a cup of delicious espresso under a layer of steamed milk and a breezy heap of fluffy foam. There was interesting art all over the walls, some of it for sale by local artists. While I ate my lunch, several others came and went, and it was extremely unclear to me whether any of them were friends, family, employees, or perhaps customers. That too felt just right.

L D.

Yelp
The food prep is gross, as other reviews have stated. The short haired woman that works here is always crying and snotting up, sweating her face off while preparing food and blowing her nose everywhere. This was before the heat wave. I know severe drug withdrawal when I see it (I work in a homeless shelter as a drug counselor), and she's either in a great mood and high out of her mind and still unsanitary, or fully sobbing and blowing her nose and unsanitarily preparing food. I stopped coming here when she went to the the bathroom and bragged about a great #2, and clearly did not wash her hands afterwards. NOPE. Manager/owners, get your store together, seriously!

Ashly S.

Yelp
I went there the food was good but when I went there they totally forgot to bring my friends order out and pretty much forgot it until I was almost done with my meal. I overheard them messing up others orders and heard others unhappiness. The 3 working seemed very absent and aloof.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Awesome place! The food is great (as is, of course, the coffee), the people are amazing, and the whole feel to the place is rare - you are instantly comfortable when you walk in the door. It has the perfect "funk factor" - we really hope to get back.

Jerry M.

Yelp
First, this is not a place you go to if you're in a rush. If you have minimal time, go up the street to Starbucks. I love this coffee shop for the hospitality- everyone is very friendly and seems to enjoy what they do! I also love that my dog is not only allowed in, but encouraged! They give little bacons treats :) Also love that local artists are able to display/sell their work here. Also also the food + coffee is ALWAYS good - Consistency is key

Rand K.

Yelp
One of the few that offers good breakfast fare, great coffee, and decent pricing. Relaxing atmosphere situated in a century old house.

Michael F.

Yelp
Food was amazing and we couldn't keep ourselves from sampling each other's orders! And they welcome fur babies!!! How awesome is that!

Desteny A.

Yelp
Awesome staff and tasty coffee. An eclectic little cafe to walk to in NW Portland for long talks and good food

Finley P.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to eat in Portland. The food is amazing with many delicious options for every type of diet. The service is usually good if it isn't packed. The cool and local paintings are really cool and the shop is like a cozy collage with dining indoor and outdoor. The hours are really good to starting at six am and closing at seven pm . It's also really cheap. You can do dining in the restaurant, takeout, or delivery. If you want a drink you can also come here with the variety of drinks.

Jesse S.

Yelp
Great place for a quick breakfast. I ordered Breakfast Burrito ($7.95 as of May 2021) and it was good. It comes with sausage which you can't see on the picture because it was all on the bottom of my burrito. The egg was super soft and went great with salsa. The food is kinda pricey though, but overall good. Bonus: from May 15th to 31st 2021 you can receive a 10% discount with a proof of vaccination!

Eduardo O.

Yelp
We were a group of six, and they refused to serve us, even after we offered to split up into two groups. The owner claimed we would not be happy because we would overwhelm the kitchen, some dishes would be cold, etc. The place had the seats, and if we had pretended to be two unrelated parties that showed up at the same time, they would have served us. It made no sense, rigid thinking and customer-unfriendly. We will never show up there again.

David L.

Yelp
Cute place, great food and drinks, friendly service. The ginger shot is really yummy. The menu is a bit chaotic and overwhelming with all the choices. However I have to say the "funky eclectic" inside is pretty dumpy and needs a deep clean. Has it ever been vacuumed? Hard to tell. We came here a few times in a few weeks and I swear the same crumbs were in the same places. Gross.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Cute little place but not amazing. The coffee was good, and the atmosphere was super cool with tons of local art. The food was simple but yummy, but they forget/messed up the customization we asked for (no cheese) and they were out of two kinds of bagels even though that's a feature on the menu. It happens. The place could also use a good vacuuming--definitely house vibes rather than restaurant vibes. Might come back but there are other places.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
I randomly stumbled upon this cute & eccentric coffee shop on my last day in Portland & it was a cool experience! My boyfriend & I came in upon opening & the owner happily greeted us & talked to us about the establishment. Through his stories, you can tell that he's really passionate about the place & just being at the place, you can definitely see that the place has so much character. The art work here is eccentric, the place is cozy with sofas, has a really vintagey dining vibe, & even has a downstairs area that is somewhat eerie, but still artsy, interesting & cool. The owner really knows his coffee & is willing to make you whatever you'd like too! During my visit, he made me some pumpkin-spiced latte, but it didn't taste artificially-flavored. It had a really authentic taste to it. The food we ordered was good & a nice start to our day too. This place is a lot different from those super modernized "hipster" coffee shops- it's genuine & you can seriously feel the history within the walls of this place. When you think of "Keep Portland Weird", you think of this place, in the best way possible.

Anne H.

Yelp
Oh man, I was so excited to try this place as I pass it often. The Barista who was very nice told me she was feeling very sick and needed a few minutes before helping me. Not something you want to hear from someone who is about to prep your food. She did look visibly ill. After she touched my tea bag with her bare hands and rubbed her hand all over my lid, I said thank you, paid and went outside and dumped my tea.. not to mention, her fingernails were visible full of dirt. I could not bear to consume what she touched. I paid for my items and tossed them just to not offend her. I shouldn't have to do that. I will not be back to this facility.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Food was just ok, coffee was good, but what turned me off was the place was really dirty.

Kaylee V.

Yelp
Go the weekday special. Egg whites and wheat toast. The eggs were fluffy and the toast was thick. Service was super nice and friendly. Helped us with ideas for our road trip as we were passing through.

Catherine L.

Yelp
Really cozy place, with relaxing music and a chill ambiance. I like how there are a variety of couches. Feels like you're entering someone's home for coffee. As for food and drinks, I got the croissant sandwich and it was v good! Not sure where they get their croissants but dang. For my drink I got the ginger chaider. I was skeptical at the combination of apple cider and ginger chai but i ended up really enjoying the complementary tastes. The owner was very nice and came over to chat as I was the only one here for a while. A very nice guy. Before we even got to chatting he immediately let me know while bringing me drink that if I don't like it I could swap it. Will be coming back again!! :)

Lanie S.

Yelp
my acai bowl was liquid and warm but otherwise cute place. date got the bagel sandwich it looked tasty

Richard K.

Yelp
A charming and funky little place with a truly homey atmosphere. The coffee is excellent, and the small food menu features egg dishes. We were there for a late breakfast, and I had a three-egg scramble on a bed of fresh spinach leaves. the eggs were fresh, light, and delicious. The friendly service of the barista matched the quality of the meal.

Las R.

Yelp
was so excited to discover this quirky little spot, really full of character and great art...but sadly that's where the good stuff ended for us today :-( The barista was friendly but it took over 30 mins for two very simple sandwich orders to finally make their way to our table, and after that long a wait, they were completely inedible. The café was not even busy. I ate less than half of mine and my fiancé took one bite of his and put it down - both sandwiches were absolutely gross. We left quietly. The location and ambiance had such promise...but the food, whoosh! you wouldn't feed it to a dog. I couldn't recommend this café to anybody. We left hungry and $36 poorer :-(

Yelp
If Anna Bananas were located closer to my home, I would spend a lot of my free time hanging out here. But then again, it wouldn't have the same charm if it were located in Tanasbourne. Anna Bananas is conveniently located near the NW 21st and Northrup streetcar station. While out running errands this morning I decided to stop here for something to drink. When I entered the place seemed quiet except for a few people who were leaving. It appeared that the owner's daughters were in charge. One was clearing tables and one was playing barista. Nice to see the whole family involved in a business. The girl playing barista was courteous and answered my questions nicely. I ordered a large chai. When it was ready she offered to remake it if I didn't like it. She told me that someone had recently asked her to remake a drink three times. But it tasted fine so her skills must be improving There was nice contemporary music playing and interesting art work everywhere you look. Since Anna Bananas is located in part of a huge old house, there are lots of different areas to sit and relax. Next time I visit I plan to try something from their food menu. There is a separate vegan menu as well as the standard offerings. When you're in the area this is a great place to visit.
