Anna Ranch Heritage Center

Steve is trustee and your sage docent/guide to Hawaiʻi culture. I have been coming to the island for 50 years, seen a number of luaus and Hula dancers, but the intimacy and Grammy award winning artists is a gift to history.

I just popped in on a weekday afternoon and gave myself a self-guided tour of the property. Although I did not enter any of the buildings or the gift shop, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the very well maintained grounds. There were gorgeous gardens and a treasure trove of interpretive signs that detailed fascinating information about Hawaiian history and culture. And there are stunning volcanic hills surrounding the homestead that make it even more scenic. Highly recommend stopping here, I will be back to tour the buildings.

I loved painting at this venue for a wedding! The wedding was so picturesque and the staff was so wonderful to work with. I definitely hope to be back and would recommend it to any couple looking for a gorgeous and extremely special location.

A Hidden Gem along the highway. Not to be missed. A quiet retreat worth the "recommended" donation. Beautiful skies, green hillsides, and a lovely garden walk. A family history waiting to be discovered! Enjoy!

The Waimea area has a long history of ranching on the island. This ranch at the foot of hills still used for grazing, has preserved some of its past. A pastoral setting worth the experience. The place was open for a self guided experience.

We shot a wedding here a couple of years ago and absolutely loved working here! Beautiful wedding venue tucked away in the hills of Hawaii!

Beautiful place for ocassions and events. Has blachsmith shop, bike rental, and barn. A lot of green grass area. Good for wedding rentals.

Fabulous opportunity to come up to Anna Ranch for a dinner with Chef Ipi via a special weekly cultural event managed by the Hilton Grand Vacation folks. We were treated to oral history of the area, music, and an impromptu Hula. Truly honored to be part of this event. Oh, the food? Locally made ricotta in a crostini, mixed green salad with toasted sesame dressing, local shrimp, beef, zucchini, potatoes, and a lava cake with strawberry ice cream.

They are supposed to be open until 2:30. We arrived at 1:45. They were CLOSED! That means we left the beach early on our vacation and gave up a good spot because we wanted to go to this museum.

We took the tour of the ranch today and loved every minute of it. I won't try and pronounce the name of the young Woman that led our tour of 6 family members. But she was excellent and knew all the history of Anna and her ranch. She is in a few of the photos I will post. Anyone that is in the Waimea area should do this tour and learn about Anna who was truly an amazing person. The main house is full of beautiful furniture, photos, and the family's items from the 20th century. The grounds are very nice and it was a joy for us to visit today.

Called several times for several months to get a hold of somebody to plan a baby shower there. Wrote emails called with no response although the voice message on the phone said that they were excepting reservations for parties no one bothered to call us back. And it wasn't only me calling my daughter called as well. On several occasions we stopped by as we were going to doctors appointments right near there we were stopping by at least twice a month getting closer to the date of the party every two weeks and no one was ever on site the sign on the door always said closed. It would've been nice for someone to eat least let us know or update their phone message.

We recently held a rehearsal dinner there. Everyone loved the setting and the chance to experience up country Hawaii. Easy to get too, and only about 25 minutes from Waikoloa. Dayna was a joy to work with. Hold any event there and you won't be disappointed.

The Anna Ranch tour is very enjoyable, it gives you an up close and personal look into the life of Anna Perry-Fiske a woman that greatly influenced the development of the Big Island in many ways.

We got married this past weekend at Anna Ranch and it was such a Beautiful venue! It had great places for us to take a ton of pictures and the weather was Perfect! From what I've heard, Waimea (Kamuela) can have some pretty unpredictable weather but we were very lucky! Make sure you have a plan in case it turns rainy and windy. It was very easy to book the venue and most of the local vendors are familiar with Anna Ranch so there were not many complications. We were able to do our rehearsal the day before. Waimea does have a noise restriction policy so if you have a dinner reception you'll have to be all cleaned up by 10pm. I would highly reccommend a morning ceremony, that's when the weather is the nicest. Just beautiful!

Is a true jewel and gem of Waimea history. Exquisite displays of furniture, fashion, social life, and rich family photos. Recommend the tour to anyone with appreciation of history. I only hope they are eventually able to display the many more items that is now only in storage, if not in the home, then somewhere worthy of the treasures left by Anna and her family. It's a $10 per person guided tour inside Anna's home. Pomai Keliiholokai-Agustin, who works there as Program Manager/ tour guide was very accommodating to our multiple email requests to change from 10am or 1pm tour time, and communicated very well via email. Can't wait to be back to do a bike tour of their ranch to learn more of their outdoor landscape.

Although I live near Waimea, I made my first visit to Anna Ranch today. This is the real deal, an authentic Hawaiian cowboy experience! I always appreciate its Hawaiian heritage when I pass (which is often, en route to the grocery store or post office), and particularly treasure its poinsettia hedge which blooms gloriously each winter, in its prime around the Christmas holidays. I'd like to note that the google maps and other mapping programs, including whatever Yelp uses, don't show the correct location, which is in Waimea proper, between the bridge and the traffic light when you drive from the coast. Check out the Anna Ranch website for accurate information. The Hawaiian word for 'cowboy' is 'paniolo.' Walking through the rooms of the ranch house and touring the property with a docent offered a memorable experience of genuine local history. I definitely will return with my guests (I am the unofficial tour guide for many, many guests). Anna Ranch offers a glimpse of paniolo life in old Hawaii. The ranch has operated since the early 19th century, but was made famous by Anna Perry-Fiske (née Anna Leialoha Lindsey). Anna (1900-1995) is and was a venerable institution in Waimea. She created a successful ranch (her childhood home) after her parents died in 1939. Performing all of the duties of the ranch, she worked to pay off debts, improve the ranch, and become a noted benefactor to the community. A founder and major donor of Hawai'i Preparatory Academy (HPA), Anna contributed the proceeds from her "Old Hawai'i on Horseback" shows to the Hawaii American Heart Association chapter. In 1983, she was named its most generous individual donor. The ranch house has been restored to 1939 condition (the year Anna took over the ranch) and contains ancient Hawaiian artifacts that have been found on site, and the belongings of at least three generations. Anna's dining table, her parents' dining table, and her grandparents' dining table were all put to regular use in Anna's fund-raising efforts. Learning about Anna was fascinating, as was viewing the tools, saddles, clothing, living rooms, outstanding collection of koa (furniture, bowls, other implements), china, art, victorian furniture and more. The outbuildings reflect the working ranch, and house a saddle maker and a blacksmith. The gift shop sells items made on the ranch. The ranch occupies a gorgeous setting. Extremely interesting aspect of the history of Waimea. Excellent docent, Barbara, knew so much about Anna and the ranch. Really enjoyed the tour.

I am so happy that my husband and I chose this as our venue for our beautiful wedding in September 2014. We had the most amazing reception at Anna's Ranch. There was enough room to really spread out and accommodate all of our vendors and guests. We had a photo booth, an area for the bar and pupus, a place for our wedding band to play, as well as a tent for our guests to sit under and plenty of room for lawn games and exploring by the children and adults. Anna's Hall was an intimate place for dancing, dessert and speeches. We even had a rainbow on our wedding day! I was so happy to work with Maka who is very laid back, yet efficient and prompt in her communication. Anna's Ranch is a timeless, beautiful, and classy place to get married, we can't wait to go back and visit!
