Underwhelming I had higher expectations after seeing the menu. it did not wow me. That being said, it was good and the atmosphere was really relaxing. I paid 48 bucks for a very small piece of halibut in the land of seafood. The rice was lumpy and rubbery. The “famous chowder” was just ordinary. I don’t usually share negative information. However, this being an international destination I feel obligated to inform. It was at least better than the fried like hell restaurants. Cheers

I wish I could grade Annabelle's higher as we had 5 days of cruise buffet food and we needed a real food boost. It was not a great sign that there was not a line at peak dinner hours. The location is prime as it's a few steps across the street from the cruise port. We chose the right side after walking in, which was their parlor dining room. We loved the look and feel of the room but no one else was there, no customers. It was very pricey and not much value. The halibut sandwich was not cooked through and had very minimal taste. The coconut shrimp appetizer was good, but became my dinner as there were limited options. It can be perceived as a "tourist trap", but because of the lack of customers apparently the word got out. Truly, this is a place that has true potential and are a few decisions from possibly turning things around.

Google
It’s a nice restaurant in Ketchikan. We heard about the famous chowder so we had to try it. Overall, the restaurant atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly. Service was good and the environment was clean. We tried three different chowder so we can decide if it is worth the trip and time. But, I have to be honest and say that we had better chowder in Sarasota, Florida and San Francisco.

Jim Smith

Google
I've had chowder from Boston, Cape Cod, Seattle, and other places in Alaska -- this was some of the best I have ever had. I highly recommend the flight of chowder if you're a chowder fan so you can try them all. Normally I enjoy clam chowder, but in this case the seafood chowder was my favorite with the most flavor. I'm glad I branched out and tried something new. We didn't have to wait long to be served and service was good when we came in from our cruise. Again if you like chowder, I highly recommend this place.

Google
Stopped here for a quick bite to eat and a couple of drinks. They were able to seat us without a wait. The drinks were great. We also ordered mozzarella sticks, Mac and cheese bites, and a bowl of clam chowder. All of it was fantastic! Our waitress Ann, was very friendly and our service was fast.

Google
Annabelle’s has some of the more reasonable prices we saw for crab on our visit to Alaska. We ended up ordering a pound to share (it was delicious) and I had the crab cake sandwich which was super good as well, would recommend. My only complaint is they keep it REALLY WARM in there.

Google
A ok place for tourists to get a burger and wifi. Our blond haired waitress was great. Our 8 year old daughter didn't like her grilled cheese so the waitress removed it from our bill. She was friendly and kind. She didn't hover around us once she gave us the bill. She gave us space and we felt unrushed and relaxed. The burger was 18 something. The lettuce, cheese and tomato were fresh but the burger wasn't anything special. Most of Ketchikan doesn't provide wifi to tourists. Annabelle's was great in that we got a decent meal and wifi. Ketchikan, however, is not a town I would visit again.

Google
Nice place for local food in Ketchikan. Portions were huge and everything was tasty. Alaska beer is also a must to try if you are in this area. Just a negative point : waiter was waiting for us with bill ready, seems like they push you to go away to accomodate other people. Also a bit overpriced but in Alaska is normal.

Yelp
The food is consistently good, chowders are excellent. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Yelp
We had some time to kill before the Lumberjack show and Annabelle's was across the street from Tongass Trading. So across the street we went to get out of the rain. My husband wanted breakfast, but breakfast had stopped, which just felt silly, but I digress. He had crab wontons, our friend had chicken fingers and fries and I tried the salmon chowder and a crab leg. The salmon chowder was good, would I come back for it, probably not. My crab was salty. It was meaty, but the salt really overshadowed anything. Our server was lovely and it was a warm spot to stay dry for a bit.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this restaurant. I think it's over rated. My food came out warm which and the presentation was not appealing. The cabbage or slaw underneath was unnecessary and made the plate look unappetizing. The salmon was cooked well done which was dissatisfying because it was dry. I did have a nice glass of wine and tried my daughter's food. I enjoyed her Alfredo and fries more than my salmon. I should have went with crab legs but went with salmon since Ketchikan is the salmon capital of the world.
google avatar

Yasmin Y.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch because we really wanted to have salmon in the Ketchikan as it's known as the salmon capital of the world. We started with the macaroni and smoked Gouda cheese bites which were delicious. Annabelle's offered a variety of options for salmon entree- grilled, blackened or butter baked- I opted for blackened with rice and Cole slaw.. the salmon was cooked to perfection. The slaw okay. The rice not. But overall I was pleased with my meal. Service was excellent. Chill atmosphere. Casual dress. We were in rain gear.
google avatar

Bob A.

Yelp
I came here because I was determined to have salmon during my Ketchikan port of call. I got the half-pound of blackened salmon and it was truly delicious. The rice it came with seemed like it was in the warmer for too long, but that salmon was, yeah. That's what I was looking for. It was fairly busy buy my service was quick, professional, and very friendly. The ambiance was fine; two rooms with a supper-club-meets-fishermen's-bar vibe. They had OAN playing on one of the TVs on the bar side, in case that affects your decision to come here one way or the other. Pricey but you're pretty much stuck with that in a half-the-year tourist destination famous for salmon.

Eli E.

Yelp
food was great but bad service, wrong orders, unattentive servers. would go again with different staff.
google avatar

Ess E.

Yelp
PLEASE REFER TO MY PHOTO. Coffee was watered down and cold, "salad" had no dressing whatsoever, it was simply shredded iceberg lettuce off a bag, crab was supposed to be half Dungeness but we barely got any part of the centre meat, smoked salmon chowder barely had any smoked salmon, crab cake was just ok. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $ HERE. Go to Alaskan king crab, way better quality. There are also other choices in the area.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in town, across the street from Berth 2 where my cruise ship was docked. Arrived early - 11:15 am and this place is already crowded! Server was attentive- served water immediately and took our order. Food - 3 stars- the fried halibut was decent - 3 large pieces of fish was delicious. The clam chowder was pretty good. The Mac and cheese fries bites were not good - ugh I wish I didn't order this. Ambiance- good- the brown leather booth was very worn, but I guess with all the tourists dining here, it should be.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Ketchikan's favorite by the locals. Jessica our Server was very kind, attentive and helpful. Clam Chowder was excellent, Shrimp Wonton we're okay.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Great chowder and local draft beer. Local tip: if it's crowded, grab a eat at the bar; also, add a little cracked pepper and Tabasco to the chowder
google avatar

Patti H.

Yelp
We highly recommend this place. The clam chowder, crab cakes and salmon were all delicious.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
I had the chowder sampler which was very good. The wife had a crab leg that was served fresh from the refrigerator. No one even thought to cook it. Service was choppy at best. Hopefully there are better choices in town.
google avatar

Jesika H.

Yelp
The halibut fish and chips DE FREAKING LICKOUS! Their fries, AMAZING! All their chowders are GOOD ( claim, seafood and salmon) Their cheese quesadilla on the kids menu HUGGGGE! Customers service: TRASH! I promise, it seems like Alaska natives as a whole just simply hate tourists. Every city we stopped in (. We stopped in about 3 Juneau, Skagway, Keitchakan and met just very nasty, rude folks in all the cities and MULTIPLE folks not just one encounter) our waitress was NO DIFFERENT! Rude, curt, unhelpful and kept walking away when someone asked her a question literally mid sentence. Just Plain RUDE! They had a little food truck hut serving fried halibut as well, I would skip this place and go there.
google avatar

Annabelle F.

Yelp
First restaurant we tried in Alaska-and with my namesake! Service was quick and we got to try all seafood Ketchikan has to offer: halibut, salmon, Dungeness crab
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Came for lunch as we spent the day in ketchikan and the food was great. Everyone loved the food and the specially the crab! The chowder sampler was great as well. Definitely liked the salmon chowder the best. Staff was friendly and place was clean. Unfortunately, most like won't be back as we are here in a cruise. But would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Darren G.

Yelp
Service is extremely slow and food is overpriced. The food itself is good but not great. The salmon was excellent....everything else just okay. The service was horrible and the server was never around and did not follow allergy instructions. I gave them three stars because the salmon is great.
google avatar

Regina B.

Yelp
We had heard Annabelle's was a must go and so made a point to stop while in town. My husband had the chicken cordon bleu, I had a crab cake sandwich and our little one had the Mac and cheese. We also ordered burnt ends to start. All of the food was really good and I would say the crab cakes were done perfectly! We never did get the burnt ends and, when we asked about it, the server apologized, wiped them from our bill, found them in the kitchen and boxed them up for us to take home. My husband ate them the next day and really liked them. It would have been 5 stars but the service was rough. They could have used at least one more server, as ours seemed to also be the bartender. She was doing her best but obviously needed help.

Yelp
Great place to eat in Ketchikan. Enjoyed the food and the service was great and quick. Crab cakes were amazing.
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
We stopped in to have lunch before an excursion. We both had the crabcake sandwich, and it was excellent. The fries were great as well. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu!

Yelp
Pricey for King Crab leg, crab cake and some chowder. A local Ketchikan seafood restaurant. The King Crab was ok, the crab cake sub par and the chowder was okay too. I was expecting more from seafood restaurant in Alaska, on the ocean. What struck me the most was my server agreed that the crab cake was sub par. Maybe the management should take notice.

Yelp
We came at around 11:30 and waited a quick 30 minutes for a table for 5. They were pretty packed that 15 minutes later, the line was completely out the window. Annabelle's famous clam chowder: it was thick, chunky, and pretty good overall. It came with oyster crackers which are one of my favorites. But we didn't come to this review for the chowder. We came for the king crab review. Now please do keep in mind I've had king crab only a handful of times. And that handful is about once before so my knowledge about their tastes is extremely limited. We ordered the assorted pieces of king crab which we were told is where you get the most "bang for your buck". I had one (1) leg. If you've never had king crab like me, it's a spikey motherlover. I would use the crackers but my other hand would be slightly numbed by it's pikes. Just a heads up. In terms of taste, I would say it was fairly tasteless. Perhaps I'm used to garlic flavored crab or something MORE but instead I was greeted with a faint crab flavor and it was pretty cold. Although, now I'm not sure, but I've heard that king crab might usually be cold becuase it's laid on ice (this could be very false!) Overall, the king crab was dismissible. Perhaps it's just that I don't enjoy king crab in general.

Yelp
First stop off the plane/ferry in Ketchikan before heading off to Thorne Bay for a week. Heard good things (didn't check Yelp) and realized it was connected to the hotel we would be staying at the back end of our trip. Wasn't feeling chowdery so I ordered the appetizer crab cakes. They were less crab and more fillers. Had a gushy texture to it so you know it's mostly breading. I've had frozen crab cakes with more filling. Hubs got the Chowder Bread Bowl. It was pretty good. Sure was a lot of bread bowl tho. Friend got the Chowder Sampler. Tasted the hubs regular so just tasted the smoked salmon chowder. That was good. Little thick for my taste but the flavor was ono. I've been inspired to make some now. The guys got oysters...I don't do oysters but they seemed happy. Best part of lunch...beers and shots! Oh and our waiter. Our waiter was awesome. Good fun and super efficient.

Yelp
We stopped in on a cruise port day. Ordered the 3 Chowder sampler (seafood, salmon, clam) along with a Caesar salad. Everything was excellent!
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
We came for the chowder! Annabelle's was recommended for the different chowders - clam, smoked salmon and seafood chowder. Essentially clam chowder with the added flavors making the differences. I ordered the seafood chowder and my companion had the salmon chowder. Both arrived at our table hot and tasty. In addition, we ordered the haddock entree and the cod entree. Both presented well and were delicious. Service was excellent. Definitely worth a revisit.

Yelp
Our cruise ship docked in Ketchikan for the day, this provided us an opportunity to explore. After riding the Ducks(phenomenal) this restaurant was suggested to us. We went in, and immediately were able to get to a table. As we sat down, water was served and menus were placed out. They had a kid menu which was great as we had two kids with us. I ordered the clam chowder bread bowl, while everyone else ordered burgers. The clam chowder was very delicious, I am use to Ivars Clam Chowder where I am from, this was rather different. This clam chowder was more milk based than cream based, it was thick and full of everything one would want in clam chowder. I really enjoyed the bread bowl as well, it was crispy and bready. It had a rather buttery taste with the delicious sourdough taste. It complemented the chowder perfectly. I would highly suggest going here, the burgers looked rather delicious and our party seemed very pleased with their food. Portions were plentiful, no one left hungry.

Yelp
Best thing I ate in Alaska. The building was ornate, gave off a neat historic vibe, food pricing was responsable, and even though they were pretty packed that day / understaffed, our server was still very nice
google avatar

Krissy H.

Yelp
We came for dinner at the Annabel's chowder. It was good not amazing the good need a little doctoring needed salt and Tabasco for my taste. We also got a halibut a fish and chips it was a little over cooked. I would say my rating should be 3 1/2 stars, but does not give me that option. Atmosphere was nice as well. We will try it again hopefully we can change a rating to 5 stars
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little pub. Food was actually very good. Service was quick and efficient. Fries were really good.
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
I was looking forward to coming back for their delicious salmon chowder. Unfortunately service and food was very lacking. It wasn't super busy but they sort of forgot half my order and it took a long time for drink refills. My chowder was thick like paste and kind of boring. I also ordered blackened salmon and it was super dry and lacked flavor. For supposed "fresh caught" fish I expected better.

Yelp
Crab Sampler. Delicious!! Enough for 2 Great service, thanks Chris for your great service!!

Yelp
A busy place; food is great. Love the clam chowder. If in the area: should stop here.
google avatar

Yelp
Best chowder in Ketchikan! We tried the 3 chowder sampler and they were all uniquely delicious. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. Highly recommend!

Tamara G.

Yelp
The food and service was great, fast and friendly! The deep fried halibut is always a great choice here!
google avatar

Kirby R.

Yelp
The food was REALLY good I am a little surprised by the negative reviews. I got the Dungeness crab combo with seafood chowder and my boyfriend got the king crab. Both were incredibly fresh tasting. Just regular tavern vibes inside nothing too fancy.

Yelp
Great chowder for the wet travelers!! We enjoyed a bowl of clam chowder and an Alaskan Amber White.. a nice spot to stop in at!

Tom J.

Yelp
was there around 1:00 pm on 5/30 /24, ordered clam chowder, Dungeness crab, and king crab. Chowder was ok, Dungeness crab was good, but the King crab was terrible, not worth going back to that place again. King crab was too salty. Complained to the waitress she said they changed out the water after the complaint. Didnt change out our crab. Complete waste of time and money. Will never go back.

Yelp
Annabelle's restaurant was the closest to the cruise dock with crab legs and oysters, so my family and I chose to eat here. The line was ridiculously long, so we assumed the food was going to be amazing. Wrong!! Let's start off with the service.. terrible and unorganized. We were seated for about 10 minutes already and our waitress hadn't even stopped by yet to greet us. The gentleman host wasn't any help either. We asked for our waitress numerous times and he just smiled, nodded and said he would get her. He then would continue to just sit people at tables and forget we even requested anything. A few tables had already gotten up and left because the wait for food was too long. We ordered a couple clam chowder bowls, a couple more with bread bowls and a an Alaskan King Crab Leg. I mean for $60, the Alaskan King Crab Leg should've been delicious enough that we would've wanted more. I mean we are in Alaska getting fresh Alaskan King Crab Legs.. Not only we're the crab legs subpar, but the 'Famous Chowder' wasn't far off either. In my opinion, if the food isn't good, at least try to make it up with great service. The waitress said the fastest thing we can get would be the chowder. We had about an hour and half before our tour started. So we ordered 4 bowls and 2 cups of the chowder, one order of the Alaskan King Crab Leg and a dozen oysters. She came back after about 5 minutes and advised the oysters were sold out. She left as by the time she came back it was another 5 or so minutes. We asked to order more crab, how she said that it would be a while before we would get it out. We said we placed our order like 10 minutes ago and she said the other tables would get their food first. It wasn't our fault the oysters were out, but you'll place the replacement in the back of the line instead of with our original order. It took almost 45 minutes for the food to come out. Our waitress dropped off the bowls, and I asked for some oyster crackers. She never came back for at least 10 minutes, which at that point I was already 3/4 finished with my bowl. 2 of the bowls we ordered as 'Bread Bowls' didn't come in the bread bowls either.. and we didn't get utensils. We had to walk to the front where the host was and grab our own utensil rolls. Lastly, the King Crab Leg was supposed to come with a side. We had to ask our waitress for the side.. and was like, 'Oh yea. Which one did you want?' No apologizes, nothing. No offer to expedite it knowing we had to leave soon. nothing. The 3 stars overall rating for this restaurant is pretty gracious. Most likely busy just because of all the tourists. Never will I eat here again, and I do not recommend this restaurant. The only thing they should be famous for is the horrendous service and subpar food. Do better for the tourists.. they're the ones keeping your business operating!

Yelp
The food was awful my husband had a rib eye with mash potatoes and a side veg. When it came out the pat of butter wouldn't even melt on top as soon as he took a bite I knew this is not good. No seasoning burnt and was yuck he mash looked like a big turd on his plate cold those veggies there was like a tablespoon what the heck 70.00!no way was unbelievable mine. Was cold Mac and beer cheese with nuggets of pork belly was disgusting left it had 4!bites at 2!of the bork had a spice I never cook with can't stand the flavor but there is no way I will ever step foot back here again last time I thought was a fluke nope it is just I don't care what crap I serve you pay and give me a tip she never asked us how it ong get a different cook this one doesn't give a shit! I will never ever go back oh and by the way one of my clients gave me 250.00 gift card for Christmas went to use it 0 mean zero balance can't wait to tell him someone took that money so I paid and I am very disappointed that you don't have safety net for this kid of shenanigans! I am done here will never ever return!

Yelp
"Let's try a Duck Fart!" my partner said. Me: big eyes emoji. But I guess that's just what you do when you stop by Annabelle's Famous Keg & Chowder House in Ketchikan, Alaska! On our 7-day Alaskan cruise, we decided to belly up to the bar to try this unique option. Made up of Crown Royale, Kahlua, and Baileys, this specialty shot is equal parts sweet as it is warm. We recorded the whole experience and share our thoughts on YouTube (https://youtu.be/eJBPf5-V0vM). To sum it up: I would absolutely recommend popping into Annabelle's to try this. Even if it's just to brag to your friends that you had a Duck Fart in Alaska! What really stole the show for me though was Annabelle's Bloody Mary. Created with infused vodka (labeled "fire water"), the Bloody Mary had a wonderful taste with just a little kick. Accompanied with a pickled green bean, olive and lemon, the drink is fairly basic - but that's ok since it's tasty! The bartender was the only one working to make drinks, seemingly deliver drinks, check food orders from the kitchen for to-go orders, and correct mistakes that were made. On top of this, he was printing out checks, processing payment, and grabbing the next drink order printing off behind the bar. He did an amazing job considering what he was up against, but you definitely want to make sure you have 30 minutes if you're going to commit - but that's only if you can get a spot at the bar. We overheard multiple patrons complaining they had been waiting more than an hour and their food still was nowhere to be found. Overall, the ambiance can be summed up by one word: chaotic. This isn't a place where I'd go to enjoy a relaxing break or lunch. When we arrived, there was a line out the door. When we finally captured the attention of a worker, they had no idea what the specialty shot was or even if we could just walk up to the bar. Fortunately, a coworker overhead and said, "Oh, yes, that's very famous! Go ahead and just grab the open spot at the bar." Thankfully, a kind patron was willing to move down a chair so that we could sit together to enjoy the drinks. Note: Our rating is based on bar service and drinks. Had we been pressured for time, I'd likely have knocked off another star.

Yelp
I'll start with the positives, the staff was friendly and efficient for being understaffed. The Apple Pie ala Mode was good. We ordered the chowder sampler which was mildly warm and thick in consistency. Oyster were not served on ice, lacking juices and barely cold. The bread seemed a bit stale. Oh and a chipped glass. To be fair the manage did compensate us and removed unsatisfactory items from the check. If your in port for the day, choose wisely. I hope they improve.
google avatar

Stefan S.

Yelp
Good food and great service! King crab was a little skimpy for the amount ordered. But I am ok with it because it was so fresh and right from the sea. Had a cup of clam chowder that was very good and tasty. Then opted for the one pound of king crab legs and claws. Again, very delicious but I was hungry afterwards. I didn't opt to have dessert there. All in all, if you are in Alaska and you want to have fresh crab, go for it. It was a nice restaurant.
google avatar

Shawn T.

Yelp
A nice restaurant with a lot of character. We were curious about the burnt ends here but they didn't disappoint. They were very flavorful. You have to try the crab legs in Alaska, here they were good. DC prices but good. The ambiance was nice. Older bar feel. Service was consistent.
google avatar

Brooke M.

Yelp
Even with a line out the door, we were seated within 15 minutes. The place was packed with fellow cruisers. We loved all the photos on the wall that brought us back in time. We of course couldn't resist trying the chowder sampler. They were all creamy with lots of seafood. This could be a full meal alone! We couldn't even choose a favorite since they were all equally delicious. Bloody Mary's were amazing and loaded here too!
google avatar

Marty P.

Yelp
I wanted to do five stars but 30 bucks for two pieces of fish I think not! I say next to a lady that said she worked there for 28 years and the fish and chips were the best thing on the menu so I trusted her. She never asked me once how it was!? The fries were just room temperature and just OK I think I had two! good beer list the guy behind Bar almost acted like he was annoyed that we were there. I get it just having a bad day We could barely get him to talk to us hospitality three out of five value three out of five. I would definitely pass on this place for fish and chips next time and go somewhere else .

Yelp
I got in later in the evening and on a Monday night there was not a lot of options. The gal at my hotel told me about this place and figured I'd check it out if I wanted to eat. Even though they were short staffed, service was friendly and quick. Thought it was pretty expensive for what I got but the beer was cold and the clam chowder was some of the best I'd ever had. With that being said, I rated this lower because of the quality of my main entree (didn't seem as fresh as advertised) and the value wasn't up to snuff.

Aay K.

Yelp
I don't want to bash this place too hard considering the amount of businesses that seemed to close. I'll just say this- if you're looking for a good clam chowder, do not get it here. It was a thick tasteless glob of cream with potatoes and some clam. I could only eat a few bites. It made me sick. My husband had the salmon and was equally disappointed in it and the sides. It was the kind of food you'd expect at a Denny's. Maybe their other menu are better. All I know is I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The one star was for the bread and atmosphere.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
Our pricey crab legs were over cooked and our service was terrible. We had to to look for staff to get melted butter, silverware and the server never refilled our drinks or asked if we wanted anything else.
google avatar

Camille A.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant away from all the tourism. Better quality food and reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the chowders they have and the free basket of bread they give you in the beginning. The service is great and it's very quiet inside.

Andy S.

Yelp
Overall the food was mediocre. I was hoping for more while in Alaska, thinking the seafood would be fresh and delicious... but it was average and I've had better in middle America where there's no ocean for 1500 miles! Our server was nice and the food came out fast. The crab cakes are more bread crumb cakes than they are crab meat. Lunch for 3 was $180 with no drinks, so I was hoping for something a little better.
