"You know it, you love it. With seven locations around town, no one is ever too far from this beloved local chain that has been feeding Boston for nearly 30 years. The tacos al pastor are the restaurant’s most popular, with slow-cooked pork, pineapple, and a sprinkling of red onions. Takeout tacos are also top-notch here: The to-go boxes are built with individual slots for the tacos so they don’t get jumbled." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

Learned a lesson today—if you’re lookin for a special menu item, double check the restaurant’s website, and beware of old pictures on the reviews. I went here looking for lengua tacos, which were shown in the google reviews, but found out when I got there that they weren’t on the menu any more. Not the restaurant’s fault, so I can’t mark them down for that. Ordered an al pastor quesadilla instead. What I got looked an awful lot like a burrito. It tasted okay, but wasn’t anything particularly special. I also ordered the chips and guacamole. It tasted fine too, but the chips were mostly broken and in little pieces. Trying not to be too picky but it made it hard to eat the guacamole. The space for eating in was below street level. It was cramped and they weren’t keeping it very clean. Overall, this food was just like the other fast casual Mexican places, very mainstream, the atmosphere could be better, and I won’t go out of my way to eat here again.

Google
Mid-tier taqueria experience with decent food and drinks. Anna’s Taqueria has been a reliable spot for Mexican bowls when I don’t have enough time to travel to other areas for my favorite taquerias in Boston. It doesn’t aim to be the best in town, but it is still a solid option for lunch and quick dinner. From the variety of meat options, the birria and steak roja are my favorites. Although they come with an extra charge, its worth the upgrade. The birria, a slow-roasted beef, is very tender and fatty, which pairs well with other fresh vegetable toppings. Steak Roja comes with a bit of a kick, but offers a more flavorful bite. Their Horchata, served in an impressively large size at an affordable price, tends to lean on the milder side. It might not be the most authentic version, but as a refreshing drink that’s an alternative to the usual soda, it does its job.

I ordered a large burrito with chicken and steak. I asked the lady to put more pico on my burrito and she instantly rolled her eyes and said “no because I’m going to have to charge you extra”. I told her to proceed I didn’t mind the extra charge. Once I paid I asked if they had any hot sauce. The cashier walked away and passed me a green ramekin of hot sauce. Once I sat down and started eating the food. I was shocked at how bland and unseasoned everything tasted. The employees and I already had a bit of tension and I didn’t want to aggravate myself any further. So I went to the cashier and asked if they had any other hot sauces because the green one was extremely mild. (Instead of complain about the food) She again became frustrated and at that point I offered to pay for the hot sauce so that I could at least have some food before running back to work. This by far was such a disappointment because I am a major Anna Taqueria fan! This locations employees give the company a bad reputation. Unfortunately this location does not get my recommendation.

Where I am: @Annas Taqueria . Location Reviewed: 242 Cambridge St, Boston, MA 02114 . Menu Includes: Salad bowl, Mexican bowl, burrito . Items Reviewed; Chicken salad - DELICIOUS I tried their salad bowl with chicken. Their portions are big and will fill you up. If you’re getting the burrito, you can also size up! The salad was good, the rice and chicken could be better tho. For someone who is conscious about their diet, this place fits the bill. . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking:Rough . Recommendations: the bowl ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=LOVE IT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕=LIKE IT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH

This place was very expensive $10.95 for the bowl which includes, pico de Gallo lettuce, rice, Jalapeños you are charged for everything else. This restaurant was out of a lot of items. I ask for sauce they gave me the green sauce I had return and ask if they had Chipotle they were out so I asked for the habenaro. The guy kept repeating habenaro, I said, yes again and then added I know it is hot.

Google
They constantly over charge me. $1 for sour cream on a burrito, $5.62 for a 1 oz side of guacamole, it’s constant and a complete rip off. Two times this week I’ve been over charged and they give me attitude while doing it. I sent an email after they responded to my original review and no one ever got back to me, so I’m not sure how commuted you really are to making things right.

Google
The food is good and it’s a fair price. Got the job done for what I was looking for (to fill myself with a quick bite on the way home). The downstairs is nice and quiet.

Google
I gave the service and atmosphere 5 stars even though I ordered from Uber eats so I couldn’t really rate those. Just seemed rude to give it 1 star or something if I never even witnessed it but anyway I digress. I ordered the super super burrito (rice, black beans etc) thinking it was two burritos and man was I wrong hahaha. It was a HUGE burrito like the size of a mini baseball bat you could club a small child with this thing but that was fine with me, it took me the whole day to finish it with the chips but man was it GOOD. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu but if you want a good burrito get what I got (doesn’t need to be a super super though) also the price was really good!

Yelp
A great place for a delicious, balanced, and filling meal at a reasonable price. It's definitely more of a takeout place than a dine-in one (think: Chipotle vibes), but they have indoor seating as well if you'd like. Service is good and quick (order down the line style). Definitely a top notch fast casual spot. I highly recommend their carnitas bowls and burritos.

Mikaela A.

Yelp
Lacking options in terms of salsa, everything costs more, even things that are listed as parts of the bowl. Supposedly you have to pay for extra cheese but we ordered regular cheese and were charged. They were also trying to add things to the bowls that were for extra like corn. Food was mid too

Chris K.

Yelp
I've been to many of the different Anna's Taqueria locations over the years but have mainly been going to the Cambridge Street location lately due to proximity to work. The burritos are large and satisfying and the veggies are fresh. The lines move quickly and and the staff is always nice, the food might not blow you away but it's consistently good. Great lunch or dinner spot for a fast bite.

Kit O.

Yelp
A gem of a little restaurant with some of the most delicious combinations of ingredients in their tacos! They are sold in threes or sixes on delicious homemade corn tortillas, served on slate plates. I was by myself and couldn't finish but one taco, so took the other two home, which provided two meals. I won't come alone next time--more to taste. My tacos poblanos with mole were outstanding! Best mole I've had in years! Can't wait to try some of the others. I will come for dinner as they have micheladas, as well as tequila shots and Rita's, not lunch fare for me. This is on my top five favorites in Reno! Nothing pretentious, just great food served by friendly gals in a very efficient manner!

Charles L.

Yelp
This is an average place with slow service. A friend and I stopped by for lunch today. We had Al pastor tacos and birria tacos and chips and guacamole. The tacos were average, with mild flavoring. The chips were fine. Guacamole was OK. There was an extra long delay in preparing our food at the counter. Other, fast food Mexican places are much more efficient.

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
I visit here for a burrito every so often only because I work in the area and the food nearby are all either overpriced or not very good. I tend to have to drench my burrito in some sort of hot sauce in order to taste anything. The burrito alone is honestly pretty bland but it's not so bad that I wouldn't get it for lunch. I see a couple reviews comparing it to chipotle, but chipotle is much more flavorful. The workers here are also not friendly; they will make the food but not the most welcoming experience. I have tried the steak, chicken, and carnitas all on different occasions and none of these meats were spectacular or anything. The chicken is okay since it's not dry. It gets pretty packed during lunch time on weekdays and sometimes Saturday, which I get because it's quick and easy grab and go meal.

Sunny C.

Yelp
A solid spot in the area- but for some reason it doesn't really stand out in my opinion. Also, the way that the entrance is not exactly ground level has always made me easily overlook this place - but if youre looking for a place that is open late-ish- since everything else closes early, this is it. Also a lil pricey - on brand for Beacon Hill... The food is OK-good

Kevin W.

Yelp
My friend from Boston has been hyping up Anna's for a while, claiming it's the best burrito he's ever had even after living in SoCal for the past 8 years or so. Verdict, pretty good but definitely not the best ever. Chipotle style restaurant, tell them what you want in your food. There's actually 2 places to order for when they get busy. I got the pork Chile Verde, since my friend claimed it was the best. Got the super, the menu says 12" not sure what they are referring to but my burrito was about 8" long, maybe the size of the tortilla. Overall, not a bad meal, I wouldn't say it tasted amazing, but wouldn't mind going back. Food wise, 4/5. -1 star for the mouse/rat we saw in the lower level seating area. Hope they get an exterminator soon.

James G.

Yelp
Let's be honest, it should be called Anna's Tacos not Taqueria because these are some of the blandest tacos out there. We tried the chicken verde, grilled chicken, and carnitas with various toppings (black bean, pico, sour cream, cheese, pickled onions, etc). Utterly flavorless. Tortillas at least seem to be homemade but also lack masa flavor. If you're going there it's because you're absolutely starving and need something quick. Service was fine.

Michael G.

Yelp
Gave me massive diarrhea. I am not sure if the food is clean. I just know that after that was the only thing that I ate, I was on the toilet for a day.

Zack M.

Yelp
So good. Massive burrito, amazing flavor. This place hit the absolute spot. The burrito was folded perfectly and everything was evenly distributed for the perfect bite every time. I genuinely have not had a better burrito from anywhere else.

John W.

Yelp
The quesadilla is not a quesadilla. It's a wet, soggy burrito with hardly any cheese. Whoever made this for me either hasn't ever seen a quesadilla or they just didn't give a shit when they were making it. First and last time going to this shithole. The other person who reviewed the quesadillas here seemed to love that it was a burrito so if my picture looks appealing to you then you'll love it too.

Rosalie C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I ordered takeout. This place is amazing!! I ordered the super super al pastor burrito. The super super size is massive and for $19 and change it is such a steal. My boyfriend had the steak quesadilla. The quesadilla is not your traditional quesadilla; it is a rolled up version like a burrito. Both items were SO GOOD! The food tastes very authentic and is flavored so well. I could eat this every day!

G S.

Yelp
Got a burrito that said it came with pico, jalapeños, and cheese. But it came with none of that.

Soumya K.

Yelp
Staff was extremely rude and unfriendly. Food wasn't good either -- under-seasoned and bland. Will not be returning

Michael J.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner and the service was slower than most types of places like this. It was similar to a Chipotle but the food looked like it had been sitting in the warmers for longer. It was expensive for the quantity and quality. It was about 1/2 the size burrito that you would get from a chipotle or moe's. A burrito chips and Jarrito was over $20 and just tasted ok.

Linni G.

Yelp
Great place for a late night stop in or quick bite. Service was fine and fast. Food was pretty cheap for a city. Lots of seating at around 7:30 on a weekend when we came. Highly recommend!

Amane A.

Yelp
I've been going for years and I've never been disappointed. It's a fast-paced restaurant so know what you want before you get in line especially during lunchtime.

Amber T.

Yelp
Huge portions but very messy! Lots of rice cheese not enough meat. Still has flavor and great taste. Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. The lower section seating has a weird smell down there. Don't sit down there!

Nicolly M.

Yelp
I give it a 4.5, not 5 Because they told sell alcoholic drinks . But The food is great

Eric F.

Yelp
Visiting from Los Angeles, staying at the Wyndham Hotel, late night my wife and I were hungry but did not want to go far. We decided to give this place a try and wow, it was really good, the steak was flavorful and so was the grilled chicken. We got a grilled chicken bowl and two tacos, with black beans and Mexican rice which were delicious. The chicken ranchero taco was okay. I wasn't a fan but It's more me than a lack of flavor. The Habanero sauce, damn that was spicy be careful, do a taste test it or else you'll be suffering. Good job Anna's Taqueria!!! If you are deciding between Anna's Taqueria and Fins sushi & grill, trust me go with this place.

Eileen C.

Yelp
Not a fan - ordered on DoorDash a quesadilla and burrito. Both are bland and not good. The refried beans that I was excited to try have no flavor. Honestly chipotle's burritos are 10x better. I thought I wanted to support a local mom and pop shop but was not a fan.

Susan M.

Yelp
Chicken was fresh and tasty. Ordered from menu which listed what came in the bowl but then asked what I wanted similar to Chipotle. Didn't expect that and went quickly so as not to hold up the line so a little disappointed when I didn't have any cheese but overall okay. Quick lunch had indoor seating area. Service was good.

John W.

Yelp
Now I've had a few more experiences and each of them terrible. The food is bland and way over priced for the flavor and portion size they deliver. They are extremely chaotic and unorganized. It's hard for them to argue that they are short staffed because there is always just one or two people actually working and the rest are lounging around and joking around with each other, even if there is a long line. Whoever the managers are are failing at their jobs. I've ordered online for pick up multiple times and every single time, they can't find it or have no record of it and after insistence and showing them the app that confirmed the order, they finally "find it". Then they blame it on me for the improper name. I'm not sure what other name I can possibly give since it was my name AND the one I showed them on the app. Perhaps, it would behoove them to search first? Either way, the customer service is awful. Beyond the food and service, it is just not a very clean place. You'd think that with a kitchen in full view and glass windows, they'd clean up a bit more. They have a lot to go and until then, I won't be back

Holly Y.

Yelp
We were really impressed with Anna's Taqueria. Visiting family at Mass Gen and stumbled into this little joint. The corn tortillas were delicious and fluffy, steak was tender, delicious fluffy rice. The carnitas was truly heavenly we would definitely come back here.

Bruce K.

Yelp
From the rope lines and the two counters, it's clear that this place gets a good business and I can see why. My burrito was awesome. Better and fresher and spicier tasting than the one from the other burrito chain, the steak was tasty, the rice was light and fluffy and the guacamole was spicy. It was a very nicely assembled burrito. The restaurant is clean and the soda fountain area looked well cared for.

D M.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with this experience. The food was tasteless, the service wasn't not friendly. I was requested and was charged for steak taco was given shredded beef. I would not recommend this place.

Shane L.

Yelp
I'd give this place 1000 stars if I could. Loved every bit of my experience there. The food was authentic, and had my taste buds doing the Paso Doble!

Emily V.

Yelp
We got here 25 minutes before closing. The doors were locked. There were people inside eating. People inside were still in line. The workers saw us standing outside and didn't say anything. They didn't answer the phone. We stood there for 10 minutes trying to get a worker's attention. (patrons were also trying to help us because they also realized we were being wronged). When we finally left and gave up the cashier (very nice man. Not his fault) came out and gave us excuses. We closed the doors at 10:40." No you didn't. We got here before then. "the food was already put away". No it wasn't. We saw them serve the people in there and then start putting it away as they were avoiding eye contact with us. "there's a language barrier. You can't talk to the workers". We are fluent in Spanish -- it's our first language. After learning this still no one came out. I guess the manager wasn't there? This was a truly bad experience created by Anna's.

Libby B.

Yelp
Good place for a quick in and out, take to go type meal. It's basically like a local Qdoba or Chipotle. I made a bowl with carnitas as my meat, rice, black beans, lettuce, and guac. It was yummy, hit the spot. There's seating downstairs with more room. Masks are required.

Annilyn T.

Yelp
Decided to come back here on my lunch break this time. I got the meal I usually get from here which is the Mexican bowl but this time I didn't get rice with it. So I got it with veggies, refried bean, regular kidney beans, lettuce and salsa oh and I also got the pork carnitas to add some flavor to it since I only got a bunch of veggies for my bowl. Service was fast that time since it wasn't the peak lunch time when I went there. So if you guys want to order and just walk in and out it's better if you go around 2:30 or later than 12noon since people are already done or almost done eating around those times. I only have a 45 minutes break so i sat for like 20 minutes and ate my food and then I went back to work.

Emmie D.

Yelp
Rude customer service made us feel very uncomfortable. We ordered a quesadilla and I paid for it before they made it because they were in a hurry. I paid extra for chicken guac sour cream and it comes with rice. I asked if they could put it in a side dish instead of the quesadilla so it wouldn't fall apart. They said no. I asked if I could pay extra and they tried to charge for an entire extra meal. It made no sense and we went back and forth for about 5 minutes. I will not be going back.

Natalia F.

Yelp
To be honest it wasn't good. The food wasn't seasoned and the amount of cilantro in EVERYTHING was too much tbh. This is the very American version of Mexican food. I personally wouldn't recommend it, although the price is very affordable I didn't finish any of my food because of the taste.

Jé W.

Yelp
Trust me, this is the sport you want to go to for a quick, fast, delicious burrito! Classic.

Catherine E.

Yelp
I love it here for a quick, cheap Mexican meal. Like chipotle but in my opinion tasted a lot more fresh

J B.

Yelp
I'd put Anna's at roughly the same tier as Chipotle in both price and quality. It's decent if you want something that will get the job done for under 15$. It's not somewhere I would seek out.

Eric L.

Yelp
I have been a fan of Anna's since they started in Boston in the 90s. It amazing how consistent their food has been over the years. Thank you for feeding me these decades and staying open late.

Kaemon H.

Yelp
I'm still HUNGRY! The food was good but, the prices and portions do not justify what you get... on DoorDash the price for a birria taco is 4.50 and they don't tell you that this is PER taco (the picture shows three!) my kids are still hungry and they are eating ice chips now... I over paid for this... I don't know how I'm going to make rent this month, my life is in shambles after eating these tacos very upset :(

Rebecca H.

Yelp
The Anna's quesadilla is not your average everyday run of the mill quesadilla. First, they take a tortilla and cheese and make a quesadilla just like the one you typically make when you get the late night munchies. What they do next is the real kicker! They open it up and put in meat, rice, cheese, beans and whatever else you want! Boy was I confused the first time I ordered a quesadilla! But it turns out, you then get to enjoy a yummy burrito with crispy tortilla and melted cheese all around the border YUM! As for meat options, my favorite is the al pastor! It is the perfect amount of sweet and savory to create a flavorful party in your mouth.

Naisha A.

Yelp
The one star is for the service, since they were nice. The food is anything but authentic, sorry. The tortillas are underwhelming, flavor in the chicken was minimal. I asked for limes and they only had yellow lemon. Their salsa was thin and not spicy at all. The place is also tiny, but that was hardly an issue. The food here is just bad.

Mitch H.

Yelp
It's a local version of Chipotle that's for sure better but also more expensive. If I'm hungry and/or just trying to grab and go, I'll go here. I don't seek this out - and that goes for any Anna's location. They do have a breakfast burrito in the morning which is nice since there is a severe lack of breakfast burrito offerings in Boston. It's good enough.

Justina B.

Yelp
This is a fine spot for an authentic, quick, and cheap meal. My order: regular size burrito on a wheat tortilla, steak, guac, rice, pickled onions, pico, and lettuce. You can easily tell that this place is a local favourite. There are two lines for serving, and ample seating downstairs. There seems to always be a line. Lunch is about $8. The food was expertly seasoned. The tortilla was warmed up before the burrito was made. The layout of the restaurant is thoughtful. Dining only downstairs. two lines to order in. elevator for handicapped access. water and utensils on both floors for dining. I will absolutely come here often, and I look forwards to many delicious meals here.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, very nice employees, and fairly priced; but it was one of the most bland burritos I've ever eaten in my life. I got all the typical toppings, rice, cheese, chicken, pico, lettuce, sour cream, but it was just really flavorless to be honest. The only real option for a sauce is habanero sauce which I did get on the side but was far too hot for me. So I guess if you can handle that heat then give it a shot but I would recommend they add in some sauces for people to choose from.

Fortis K.

Yelp
The Al Pastor is off the chart and I will recommend anyone in the Boston area to give it a try.

Melissa K.

Yelp
I went to the Cambridge street location to purchase a super Burrito. They were extremely frugal with the rice and chicken. When I asked what the difference was between the amount of filling in the regular vs. the super burrito, they told me no difference, filling is the same amount. This is wrong. There was hardly any rice on it and barely a scoop of chicken. I would have given more stars if they did not rip me off. I would like the manager to answer this inquiry as to how much more rice and chicken should the super burrito have. I'm not happy.

Sophie N.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. Everything was a 10/10, the service was pretty good, they forgot my drink but the quality of the food made up for it honestly. The birria tacos are probably one of the best things there, everything was really good and pretty authentic.

Joshua C.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken burrito to accompany my trip back to New York. Overall the food was pretend mediocre. As most people's standard "Mexican" fast food/take out would be Chipotle, I felt it was on-par at best with Chipotle and was possibly slightly more expensive? My least favourite part about the food was for burritos they use strips of long cut cheese instead of grated mozz/cheddar cheese.

Laura F.

Yelp
A great place for some quick, Mexican comfort food! If I had to describe it to someone, I'd say it's like a better, more authentic version of Chipotle. We ordered a burrito with ranchero chicken and a quesadilla with regular chicken, both loaded with our favorite toppings. The burrito was made with rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and guac, and the quesadilla with rice, lettuce, pico and sour cream. Everything was delicious! A warning though: the quesadilla was pretty messy; they basically just made it into a burrito after melting the cheese. Anna's was also only doing takeout orders, so be prepared to go elsewhere to eat your meal.

Sam S.

Yelp
Best bet is the carnitas burrito. Get it with the mild pico de gallo, extra cheese, guac and sour cream. Pinto beans are good on it, too...

Lana K.

Yelp
I usually like Anna's, but my qualms are with THIS location which I visited near closing time ~10PM on a Thursday evening. (Nowhere else is really open in the area.) In particular, after this first experience here, I was really appalled at the uncleanliness and unfriendliness of the female servers. It's the usual set up: choose your tortilla size, cheese or not, and pick your fillings. But the woman who was scooping up the rice, beans and the lot, mid-way to filling up my two burritos (for me and my mom) decides it's a good moment to sweep up all the scattered rice and mess from a day's work using a really nasty-looking dirty rag. I see some of that scrap which would be tossed down the trash fall BACK into tubs of the clean food and she uses her gloved hands to scoop some of it up into the trash which was TBH so un-hygienic and a huge food service no-no. Cuz you don't know where that rag has been or what kind of sanitizing cleaning solution (AKA chemicals) it might've been soaked in prior. And what's worse is she was continuing to use those same hands to full-on CRADLE the chicken or pork meat to wrap up the burrito for the customers behind me. My mom tells her twice, "You should change your gloves" after seeing this atrocity. She glances up with a neutral IDGAF expression on her face and pretends not to hear what she said. No glove change. The guy behind me in line laughs and though he proceeded to order his burrito, tells me, "You're right. That sh*t is nasty. I'm not gonna pay for that and get sick" before walking out of the line. I'm glad we didn't get sick after eating these. I don't know if asking for a fresh order of a burrito would've made things better. This is how food poisoning begins, with bad food handling practices. Beware.
