I came here twice and they were the best two meals I have had during my time in the city. I tried several other places: low-key, inexpensive neighborhood restaurants, then a couple of seafood restaurants, all of which were quite good, but not as tasty and creative as Annie.
The eggplant-tomato salad was my favorite and then the sliced, raw fish in a creamy, tangy sauce was also excellent. The marinated octopus was a burst of flavors, like all the other dishes. I am certain that the items that I did not get to try on their frequently changing menu are as good.
This is not a pretentious place. Locals, neighbors and visitors come here to share meals (the food is really meant to be shared, so ideally you come with at least one other person). The star of each plate are the ingredients. Sourced locally or from nearby regions, very fresh, full of flavors, beautifully seasoned and for what you get at very fair prices. The wines are also very good.
All in all, a place you should absolutely visit when you are in Athens. Their service was very attentive, warm, knowledgeable. And they have great music playing in the background…
