The Best Vineyards and Restaurants to Visit in Missouri’s Wine Country | Eater

"A long-standing restaurant that champions Missouri wine through a thoughtful local bottle list, pairing refined yet hearty dishes with regional producers. Menu highlights include sautéed foie gras on brioche topped with slab bacon confit and a heritage hog chop with stone-fruit bourbon chutney; save room for a classic apple pie, and visit the adjacent Smokehouse Market to assemble a picnic from smoked seafood, meats, and cheeses." - Meera Nagarajan

Everything here was excellent. The food, the service, and the atmosphere. We ordered steak and roasted chicken. Both were perfect. The glazed carrots tasted like candy. The bread pudding was great too. We made our reservation online and couldn't get in at the time we wanted. I think if we had called, we might have gotten a table closer to our preferred time. That would be the only thing I would change.

Annie Gunn’s is a must see if you are in the area. The food is as genuinely out of this world. Visiting the area from Chicago, I had my expectations set low and I was completely blown away. The filet was so beautifully tender and delicious and don’t get me started on the mashed potatoes, asparagus, and butternut squash. The potato pancake appetizer was my favorite thing ever. Drinks were heavy and the staff was very kind. We weren’t able to get a table but we sat in a little nook at a bar top which was perfect. Tell Kimberly hi if you stop in!!

Google
this is a must when visiting St. Louis. Great service, great menu ,great food. And they have Guinness beer on tap. Tyler was our server for today. He was the secret sauce for our dining experience. He made great recommendations based on our preferences. PS don't forget to stop at the market as well..

Google
This was my favorite restaurant in St. Louis. It’s better to reserve with some anticipation but it’s not a crazy reservation to get. The wine list is very extensive, they are friendly and every single item I tried was delicious (I went 3 times).

Google
I got the French Dip and my husband got the Muscovy Duck Breast. Both were good! Our server Pamela was quick and attentive. This is a great spot for a late lunch or dinner. The staff is exceptionally professional, which really elevates the overall experience. We enjoyed it a lot and definitely plan to return. The bar looked inviting as well. The restaurant has a vintage brass rail vibe that complements the polished, professional service perfectly.

Google
We tried the classic burger, Caesar salad, corned beef sandwich, & a trout fish appetizer. Also ipa draft beer. Food & service was great. Steaks, wines, cheeses & a huge list of entrees exist, but on the expensive experimental side.

I had an excellent experience at Annie Gunns, and a big part of that was thanks to Clayton, the bartender. He was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. His recommendations were spot-on, and he took the time to ensure I had a great drink and a fantastic overall experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, and Clayton’s professionalism truly made the evening memorable. I highly recommend Annie Gunns, and be sure to ask for Clayton — you won’t be disappointed!

Google
You can always depend on Annie Gunn's for a fantastic meal and great service. My wife and I have never had a meal we weren't happy with. They have a great selection of wine, but do a great job with cocktails as well. The staff are all great and very well trained. Don't forget that they do takeout as well!! Ask for the smoked shrimp as an appetizer.

Yelp
Annie Gunn's will always be special to us. We had our wedding reception here, so coming back for our anniversary just felt right. Once again, they made it a memorable experience. The drinks were fantastic. The Bloody Mary had the perfect kick, the Maker's Mark espresso martini was smooth and bold, and the dirty martini was exactly how it should be: strong and delicious. We started with the carpaccio, and it was phenomenal. Easily one of the freshest we've ever had. It melted in our mouths. A really nice touch was the sparkling wine served with all dinners, which added to the celebratory vibe without us even having to ask. We were also treated to a complimentary apple pie with cinnamon-flavored Clementine's ice cream for our anniversary, and it was just as good as it sounds. Warm, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending. The service was wonderful. Multiple staff members checked in on us to make sure everything was going well, and they were genuinely kind and attentive. The lamb chop was cooked perfectly, and my husband loved the sweet & savory glaze. A few small things to note: the caprese tasted super fresh but could have been colder, and the filet, while flavorful, wasn't quite warm enough. The plate was actually hotter than the steak itself. We were also seated at a table in the bar area with our 6-month-old (which wasn't ideal) but we made the reservation the same day for 7:30pm and felt lucky to get a table at all. All in all, Annie Gunn's still knows how to make a night feel special. We're so glad we chose to celebrate here again.

Yelp
This is my friend's favorite restaurant and it definitely didn't disappoint! The service was top notch. Adam - our server - was amazing! Super friendly and took care of us! The restaurant is poppin' - fairly loud and lively. We ordered: Shrimp (6) - very smokey Foie gras - the medallion was a bit small for the price but tasted amazing Potato soup - very creamy (but I don't really like potato) Steak - friend said it was good Duck - the duck was cooked to perfection and the sauce that paired with it was incredible - the wild rice that came with it left something to be desired - it tasted like licorice Miro special - this was so unique and yummy. Sweet, salty, spicy, all the flavors Creme brulee - creamy and custard - no complaints This place is great and I'd definitely be back the next time I'm in town

Yelp
WOW!! My boyfriend and I came on our three year anniversary for a date night. We started with a couple drinks and they came in a timely manner. I got a crisp dry Sauvignon blanc and he got a tequila neat (no judgement there, he's put up with me for a long time) To start, I ordered the caprese salad special - this was so delicious and the basil was crazy fresh. My boyfriend got their famous potato soup - and i gotta say - I will be dreaming about it until I can come back for it. Next, I ordered their filet mignon and my partner got the sirloin. Cooked to perfection and the flavor was immaculate to where I didn't need extra salt or sauce! (Which is unheard of for me?!) To add, the creamy whipped potatoes they came with were also amazing and the sweet vegetable was great for my palate. We weren't expecting anything for it being our anniversary but they gave us complimentary champagne and a dessert. The apple pie with the cinnamon ice cream... o m g.... It is a MUST TRY. I couldn't believe how good it was. Apart from the food, the service was outstanding. You could tell the staff genuinely wanted us to have a good experience and they worked well as a team. This company knows what they are doing and are doing a dang good job. We will 110% be back.

Yelp
Love the products but some of the women in the deli have an attitude and seem impatient. They act put out to take an order then forget half of it. Just brace yourself for poor service in the market

Yelp
If you want an amazing steak, this is the place to go! The Cabernet cracked pepper butter is so delicious and both steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare. The sides are also delicious. The sopa de tortilla was excellent. I recommend trying the apple pie with cinnamon ice cream if you want a top tier dessert. It was incredible. I really don't think you could miss with anything on the menu. Our server, Elizabeth, was lovely. She was so knowledgeable and took great care of us. Overall I can't recommend this place enough. I would make a trip to St. Louis just to come here!

Yelp
I've been coming to Annie Gunn's for many many years, and in all that time, I've never had a single bad bite of food--everything here is absolutely delicious. When my sister visited from Virginia, I knew I had to take her to one of the best places STL has to offer. Chef Lou and his team consistently deliver, and our lunch was no exception. We had the French dip, and it was flawless. The bread was crisp yet soft, the roast beef was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly, and the au jus? Real, rich, and full of flavor--exactly what you expect at Annie Gunn's. But the grand finale was their apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It's always the best, and this time was no different. Without a doubt, the world's best apple pie and cinnamon ice cream--just heavenly. If you're looking for exceptional food and service, this is the place. Annie Gunn's has been a St. Louis gem for years, and it continues to impress! The new addition and outdoor seating is beautiful. And our server, Lauren was responsive and engaging.

Yelp
Annie Gunn's is the perfect spot for an elevated date night. They have an enormous wine list, and their food is incredible. My husband and I had an excellent dinner here to celebrate his birthday! For an appetizer we ordered the crab cakes. I liked the addition of more southwest flavors from the black beans and chipotle aioli, but the andouille sausage did overpower the crab a little. For our main dishes, my husband got a fish special they had that night which he really enjoyed. I ordered the 6oz filet mignon. While the sides were a little bit lackluster, the steak was probably the most delicious steak I have ever eaten. Our server was attentive, as well as all of the other staff members moving throughout the restaurant. They were extremely busy (as I'm sure they always are), but we were still checked on frequently. Because it was my husband's birthday, they gave us a slice of apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It was the perfect sweet end to a very tasty meal! I would highly recommend making a reservation fairly far in advance - they book up early!

Yelp
If you want a warm and hearty meal this is the place to go! Delicious food and the best potato soup I've ever had. Definitely need a cup of it. I like the variety of fish depending on the day. Service was excellent and server was very attentive. Love how there js a shop next door where you can also pickup fresh groceries and ingredients. Definitely try the apple pie!

Yelp
Another impeccable experience at Annie Gunn's. We love to start with the selection of cheeses which is always the perfect bite and features local and seasonal options. Our go-to lately has been the french dip, and we also tried the classic burger. It was insanely good. The quality of meats here is out of this world, and the service is always lovely. It was a little slow this dining experience, but the restaurant was packed with large groups dining. We enjoyed the slow pace of the meal, and it allowed us to enjoy our cocktails and cheese board.

Yelp
The wings was very unique. I had them with thr mashed potatoes. They came with carrots. Very tasty. With the power YELP has invested in me I proudly issue five stars.

Yelp
It's my first time here. I booked a table for Friday lunch. Cozy atmosphere. Food and service were excellent. Our filet mignon (medium rare ) and ribeye (medium) were cooked perfectly as ordered. We also enjoyed clam chowder every much. My little one got his own order fish and chips( snapper). I could taste the freshness in the fish. Tartare sauce was delicious, paired well with fish and fries. It'd be nice if the fish came in one big piece instead. Cream brûlée was to die for. We"ll definitely come back.

Yelp
Walk into Annie Gunn's and you're surrounded by a warm, rustic atmosphere that feels both cozy and upscale. The potato soup was incredible--rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. It was the perfect way to start the meal. While known for their exceptional steaks, the seafood here is equally outstanding. The seafood dishes were fresh, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented--an absolute treat for seafood lovers. The service was great, although the seating was tight, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an extraordinary meal, Annie Gunn's is a must-visit. Be sure to check out the market next door where you can get the best smoked prawns in STL!

Yelp
Very conflicted on my star rating for this place. The pork chop was just okay, but the mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had. Service was pretty good too, and the ambiance is 5 stars all the way. But when the headline entree is just okay, 4 stars is as good as it gets. Came in on a Wednesday night for dinner. Would have had a wait for a table, but got a bar stool straight away. Started with their featured Manhattan. For $12 it was perfect. Complete with those really expensive purple cherries over one big rock. Ordered the pork chop for dinner. The chop itself was just okay. A bit over cooked (was not asked how I wanted it done) with chopped peaches and a béarnaise sauce. The peaches were good, the sauce wasn't needed. The chop just didn't have a lot of flavor to it, a real disappointment for a 'smoke house.' On the other hand, they laced the mashed potatoes with horseradish and they were Devine. I will begin putting horseradish in every batch of mashed potatoes I make from this day forward. My server/bartender had been working there for 18 years. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list is a joy just to read through all the quotes. If I lived here, I would come back again and try the beef and seafood!

Yelp
Haven't been to in years but the four times I went was exceptional! I hate that require 85 words!

Yelp
The food, service, and environment always exceed my expectations. A wonderful treat! Make reservations in particular for busy times.

Yelp
This is a St Louis institution with a cult following. Quite a number of locals (and businessmen) swear by this place. Reservations are a must as they seem to always be packed. Even with reservations, expect to stand around for a bit since people tend to linger. You could say it's that comfortable (or slow service, or table management could use some improvement). They should really do something about the upfront wait as having a bunch of people standing around the entrance isn't a really good look. In any case, I've been a few times for both business and family lunches and dinners. It's got the clubby, old school vibe you get at private social clubs. Wait staff are attentive enough. For food, it's pretty good. A lot of people rave about the steaks. I have had them all here and they're OK. What I keep coming back for is actually their burger. It's a pretty damn good burger, and one of the best in St Louis. They have a pretty good wine list. You can bring your own wines, as well. Corkage is reasonable.

Yelp
We stopped in at Annie Gunn's for lunch to celebrate a birthday, it had been quite some time since we had been and we weren't disappointed! We did make a reservation, though I think if you arrived early ( we arrived at 11) you would have been okay; we were seated right away. Our waiter was very prompt with the specials and bringing us water and drinks, very conversational and fun. We all ordered different things to try out several dishes, all were fantastic of course...we are talking about Annie Gunn's! We had the meatloaf, the French Dip, the beef tenderloin sandwich and the strip loin. All were wonderful (so great I forgot to get pics!) The birthday boy also had apple pie and cinnamon ice cream for dessert brought out to him! It was WOW!!! Let me say this was just lunch and their dinner menu is also amazing...if you haven't been, you need to check it out, this place has a very chill vibe, great for a date night, girl's night out (or a night out with the boys!), and they have a very cool store next door selling all kinds of food stuffs in addition to a full butcher shop. Probably a good thing I don't live closer....

Yelp
Every time I drive west on 64 I've wondered what Annie Gunn's is like. It sits there just south of the highway taunting me. It is one of those places you always here raved about. I wasn't sure I could call myself a true St. Lousian until I tried it out. I finally took the plunge with my wife and two kids. My 5 year old son is absolutely obsessed with steak so he had been looking forward to our reservation for weeks. Note, that the reservations for prime days and times can book up fast so you will need to think ahead. We ended up getting a 5pm reservation on a Sunday. When we arrived there were a number of other families with kids so we didn't feel out of place. Our server was fantastic and great with the kids. I liked the interior and felt the dark wood gave a warmth to the atmosphere. The place was pretty crowded, so I was glad we were slightly ahead of the rush. As an appetizer we had a cheese board that also had some sausage and fruit. Sometimes I get let down by boards as they feel overpriced for what you get. I was very happy with this one. For the meal my wife got a filet and I got a ribeye. They came with some whipped potatoes and vegetables. There were also some rolls. It isn't on the website, but there is an unoffical kids menu. My son got a petite steak with fries and my daughter got noodles. The fries were the right amount of crispy, the steak was good, and the noodles were excellent. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals. The steaks were large enough that we both took enough home for a second meal. For desert my kids split the apple pie with ice-cream (Clementine's) and my wife got creme brûlée. So overall we enjoyed the night. The atmosphere was perfect, the service was superb, and the food was excellent. The only thing that was a letdown was that the market next door was closed. I'll have to come back some time and check it out.

Yelp
I long time St. Louis staple restaurant. As always the food was delicious and service was impeccable. I do feel that the interior needs a little update but overall great experience.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in before a show at The Factory on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation but got lucky with seats at the bar. The bartenders were awesome, providing top notch service. They even gave us a heads up when other patrons were leaving so we could all sit together. They had a ton of delicious sounding seafood specials, including Oysters Rockefeller, which we ordered for an appetizer. I also split a humongous salad with a friend and order the filet for dinner. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had! Cooked perfectly medium rare. I can't wait too return, but will be sure to plan ahead with a reservation next time.

Yelp
Moved to Wildwood from Los Angeles and heard about Annie Gunns. Love everything about this place. The ambience, the service, the food, and the people. I have met some really nice people just eating at the bar. Since our first dinner I have went to Annie's for lunch, dinner, parties, and every time I'm not disappointed. I'll be honest we go at least 2-3 month and not once have I had a negative experience. The bonus is the Smokehouse next door, the best pies! Smokehouse is our go to for any occasion pies. I had friends of mine fly in from LA who are high end whiskey bar and restaurant owners and took them to Annie's. The had nothing but great things to say about it and enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
Ate here last night with 3 colleagues and had a blast. Crab cakes, foi gras, and a smoked seafood plate to start. All were very good. Ribeye for dinner, nice mix of lean and fat on my steak. And then a trio of desserts. Sticky toffee pudding was the best of the 3. Bread pudding and creme brulee were both just ok (or maybe I was too full by then). Nice large restaurant that was still pretty quiet even though it was full. I really dislike those large restaurants where it is so loud that we can't hear each other talk. The best touch of the night was the server brought all of us a new, full of ice, glass of water at the end since the other glass was already warm.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorites. The burgers are Fricken Yuge! For $15 , this is the bomb. Our waiter was super nice. Had nothing but great things to say about working here. We sat in one of the rooms with the sliding door for privacy. Nice.

Yelp
It took us a while to try this place out and it took even longer to try to snag a dinner reservations so when I finally did, I was super excited. It was on a Friday night and I had to book it over a month in advance. When we got there, it wasn't what I was expecting. The place was more casual than I realized which was absolutely fine with me. My husband actually loves places with great food without the fancy feels. The thing that stood out the most was that I was slightly overwhelmed with how our waitress was being pushy as far as ordering food. She kept asking us what else we wanted after placing an appetizer, which was a huge meat and cheese board. She asked if we would also like a salad and another appetizer. We politely said no. I had a ribeye with mashed potatoes and veggies and my husband had a burger with fries. Again, she asked us if we wanted more food (extra fries/other sides in addition to our order). The steak was fine and my husband enjoyed his burger. Needless to say, we did not finish our meals because there was simply way too much food. I skipped dessert because we both had way too much to eat. I am fine with people being attentive but our experience I would describe as borderline annoying. Would I return? Perhaps someday. It's quite a drive though and I didn't really think my steak was better than places closer to home.

Yelp
Three words-"service, service, service". The food is pretty good too. Do yourself a favor and treat your family to this delightful legendary corner.

Rick R.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service. And priced accordingly. LOL My favorite Caesar Salad in St. Louis. And best potato soup I've ever tasted. If you haven't been here before, order a small cup of that potato soup. Of course, the steaks are fantastic. But if you get there at lunch time (before 2PM) try the meat loaf (if there's any left) or the chicken fried steak (neither is on the dinner menu, too bad). Also, best Bloody Mary I've had. And the super-jumbo shrimp from next door Smoke House - not on the menu but you can order by the each. LOL Only one small TV at the large bar. They said it is not a sports bar. But super friendly customers. You find yourself talking to people at the bar you don't even know. Overall, this place is top-shelf IMHO.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
They are the 5 star in the St. Louis area! No one can be beat them. Consistently perfect from the waiters to the chefs in the back the servers everything is perfect about them. There was a time I was vegan and they said well we can make you a vegan dish and they gave me awesome grilled veggies, which is amazing! they cook with love and they truly care about your experience. They go out of their way to make sure that you feel special.

Yelp
Went for my birthday after New Year day, January 2nd. The service was amazing, our waitress was vey knowledgeable and friendly. Told her I was celebrating a birthday and she made the night even better with an amazing dessert!! Can't wait to get back.

Sue S.

Yelp
The service was outstanding. My dinner consisted of the Smoked Seafood appetizer which was delicious, a side order of the Blue Cheese Potato Gratin, also delicious. And, VERY DISAPPOINTED in the Pecan Crusted Goat Cheese salad! With mini-romaine? Absolutely NOT the same. The texture and taste were totally different from what I had before. And, you ONLY offer romaine for all salads! GEM is romaine. Not a good decision!
google avatar

Crystal G.

Yelp
A solid spot for O'Fallon with a down home bar feel, however I will say that the filet I received was not in fact an intact filet. Having seen this before I was not surprised, just disappointed. The sides were great and the service even better. Just noting to myself to order something different next time.

Rory T.

Yelp
This place is a go-to for anyone who takes their steak and seafood seriously--and their reservations even more so. It's almost always busy, so unless you enjoy hovering near the bar like a hungry hawk, I highly recommend booking ahead. The ambience strikes a nice balance between upscale and approachable, with a loyal crowd of regulars who clearly know they're onto something good. The menu delivers every time: perfectly cooked steaks, fresh seafood, and a few price tags that remind you quality isn't cheap--but in this case, it's worth it. One of the best non-chain steakhouses in the western suburbs. If you're looking for a memorable meal, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your list.
google avatar

Heather N.

Yelp
Tremendous food, service, ambiance and consistent customer care. You know to expect to pay for this elevated level of service and quality but it's worth it. A must have on your list.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
If you want a top-end restaurant with an awesome, old-school steakhouse vibe, this place nails it. My personal favorite is coming to the bar for a guinness and salad/soup at 8 until close. Way more low-key but still awesome food.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
I came to Annie Gunn's for a launch party in their back room. The event space was perfect for the group and there was a good size bar in the space. The room has some TV's so that was perfect for the presentation of the launch party. There were about 4-5 tables set up around the room people could sit at. For the event there was a buffet. The staff kept the buffet well stocked and came around often to pick up trash. There were also servers walking around asking about drink orders. This was the perfect event space that I could see being able to accommodate any event you're having. I only have 4 stars because I didn't really eat any food but everything else was great.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Annie Gunn's. After priding myself on being a St. Louisan for (almost) 35 years, I had never been here and it's always been on my list of must dos. Chesterfield isn't an area I find myself in often, so when my mom suggested going here for her birthday, I definitely supported the choice. We came for lunch and had made a reservation several weeks in advance. I'm unsure how necessary that was, but it was busy when we left (we came during lunch time). Making a reservation is never a bad idea in my opinion. The restaurant has been added on to throughout the years. When you walk in, it's pretty dark and has a quaint pub vibe. We were lead out onto the expanded room with tons of windows and natural light (which I love). Our server was super attentive, knowledgable, and helpful. My mom ordered a champagne cocktail and I ordered a Diet Coke, drinks came quick and it took a minute for me to figure out what I wanted. It all sounded so good. I ended up getting the grilled striploin on baguette with Emmi Swiss cheese. It came with ozark forest mushroom grilled onion compote and French fries. When I say this is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had I mean it. The flavors complimented each other perfectly and the striploin was incredible. Great quality and cooked perfectly. Fries were nice and crispy, which is always appreciated. My mom got the burger which was outstanding. Also cooked perfectly and great quality. My mom then was treated to desert for her special day, which was apple pie. I'm not a big apple pie lover, but the crust was delicious and fresh. Will 8000% be back.

Yelp
This will now be my go to restaurant for my birthday.. no kidding.. it only happens once a year, might as well spend it with the best steak in town. I said best because I've been to the nearby Ruth's Chris and Annie Gunn's is miles ahead in taste, ambiance, wine and overall experience. I'm never going to look any other way anymore, it's just straight to Annie Gunn's.. We ordered of course the steak and it's wonderful in every bite. It is complimented by the wine and the best side. The service was top notch as well. We arrived early and was seated immediately. The only issue I had, which is not a deal breaker at all, is the parking space. It's tight and if you park up front, you'll be beside the street. But like I said, this is a not a deal breaker and we can definitely park farther.
google avatar

Yelp
Annie Gunn's is one of the best places in St. Louis for steaks in my opinion and they have one of the tenderest, most melt-in-your-mouth ribeyes I've had. The 14oz ribeye comes along with sides of mashed potatoes and side veggies but the. also I ordered the ozark mushroom steak gravy topping that was insanely good! Also, I started my meal with a bowl of the potato soup and very glad I did, it's delish. Service was wonderful and although it was a busy night there with a long waiting list I was able to get on right away and I sat in the bar area against the wall that was okay since I was flying solo that night at Annie Gunn's. The restaurant has an old school steakhouse feel that I enjoy and have ordered many a BBQ platter from the Smokehouse next door over many years.

Yelp
Always our go to spot. Excellent food and wonderful service. The French dip sandwiches are the best in town, for sure.

Yelp
We had a small group dinner here on Mother's Day last weekend with my husband's local friends and really enjoyed our meal. Annie Gunn's is a local, old skool steakhouse my husband wanted me to try while in town. It looks kind'a rundown inside but I think that is the vibe on purpose. They do have some renovation or add-on going on right now on the far side. The meal we had was good - but it was heavy. We got a caprese salad which was OK but wasn't my favorite. The beefsteak-type tomatoes were somewhat squishy and too thick and it didn't have enough basil and balsamic so it felt kind'a boring and plain. We chose a filet add lobster tail and the filet itself was wonderful. They split the entree for us in the kitchen and plated it with our potato and veggie which made it much easier to share and perfectly portioned. I asked for the butter sauce on the side with the steak but didn't realize I needed to do the same with the lobster which was smothered in thick butter sauce. Gross. For dessert - we tried the apple pie and the famous bread pudding. Both were very good but the star for me was the cinnamon ice cream which I ordered a bowl of just for me! Overall, the meal was good and server was stellar. It was SUPER heavy though and I don't think I'd come here very often. Prices are on par with a nice, non-chain steakhouse so it was around $200 for two people.

Yelp
We have lived in the area for over 20 years, but never once visited Annie Gunns until this past weekend. The service was phenomenal. The energy in the room was incredible. Very nice interior and the food was amazing. I just wished it was a little hotter by the time it reached our table Will return.

Yelp
Sophisticated steakhouse in the heart of Chesterfield. It's the definition of a classic steakhouse - cozy feel, classy with dark wood features carried throughout the restaurant. The extension to the original restaurant is beautiful! High ceilings, big fireplace and log cabin luxury. Now for the food- the best part in my humble opinion. We enjoyed their famous loaded potato soup and chili for starters. Perfect way to start the meal on a cold date night out. Our steak entrees followed and wow - perfectly cooked, seasoned to perfection and the filet cut like butter. The most buttery velvet like texture mashed potatoes accompanied the steak along with butternut squash and asparagus. High end meal that left us full, happy and satisfied. I recommend making a reservation, they book up quickly!

Yelp
The best steak in St. Louis! Friendly and attentive service, intimate ambiance and delectable food. We came and sat in a snug (enclosed booth) with some friends and had an absolutely wonderful evening. Highly recommend for an upscale steakhouse dinner!

Yelp
Popular place, big bar scene, crowded. Waiter disappointed we came just to eat and not drink, immediately shifted his attention to the drinking tables. Eventually needed to have another waiter get our check for us, then took long time to get it back. Food was good. "Famous" potato soup was fine. We had cups of that and New England clam chowder, which was the same soup with clams added. Had French Dip and Sausage plate. Free red NCJW dip came with frozen fries, sausage came with hand cut fries (bizarre). Food was tasty.

Yelp
Service and wait times are unacceptable, food is above average. Feels more like a place where people go to be seen

Yelp
This is our favorite spot for special occasions, so we decided to drop by for lunch, and we were once again not disappointed. We enjoyed the Natural Half Chicken dinner, Grilled Smoked Spicy Beef Sausage, and the Cheese Selection appetizer. The cheeses were so delightful that we could have made a meal out of them! It was definitely worth it. The service was, as always, exceptional; Pamela did a fantastic job looking after us. The atmosphere was pleasant, and we had a cozy little table tucked away in the corner, perfect for an intimate birthday celebration. We're going to make it a point to visit more often, especially with such a lovely lunch menu. As always, we highly recommend it!

Yelp
Just another perfect experience Our server Kate ensure everyone was completely taken care of. Ensuring my order could be as sodium free as possible. She even substituted sides to reduce fat. The 2 meatloafs were perfect as usual. Complete with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. The two filets were perfectly cooked to temp. The toasted barley was perfect, squash was ideally al dente. It was a snowy, cold and windy day and we were seated my the roaring fireplace close to the bar which delivered perfect cocktails. Great service, great food, great family=perfection.

Yelp
Went to Annie Gunn's for both lunch and dinner while visiting STL. First time visits and one of my all time favorite restaurant experiences. Food was fantastic. Ambiance was very, very cool. Great service! I had the country fried steak for lunch and lamb shank for dinner. Both were simply amazing. Will definitely revisit next time in town.

Yelp
One of my top restaurants in the St.Louis area. We started with the sea smoked seafood sampler, jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, smoked trout and salmon which had the perfect amount of smoke and melted in the mouth. Then came the crispy fried chicken wings, juicy, piping hot with a delicious home made ranch. Then the main course the lamb, loin chops cooked medium rare, absolutely fantastic with the accompaniment of the Danish blue cheese potato Gratin, squash, and asparagus had my mouth watering and every morsel of the plate licked clean!

Yelp
A little let down that my first trip to Annie Gunn's didn't live up to the hype. We dined in recently for dinner and felt that while it was an EXCELLENT steak, everything else was underwhelming and service was VERY slow. I don't mind when a nice restaurant leaves salt and pepper off of the table, but I then expect food to be well-seasoned. Unfortunately, everything was under seasoned from the famous baked potato soup, to the bland sides that accompanied the steak. This leaves me to my other pet peeve - paying a high price for an entree to have the sides serve as a sad afterthought. The ambiance was what I expected from an old school steakhouse, but after a very long wait for the main after eating the first two courses, I was eager to leave after my meal. I would come back to Annie Gunn's maybe for a sandwich at lunch, but not for the underwhelming, high-priced dinner.
