Donte and Chris are amazing !!!!! They have wonderful customer service. Donte greeted me at the door. Chris greeted me as soon as I hit the aisle. I was directed to EVERYTHING! Closed out so graciously! Forget auto zone I want to come here JUST BECAUSE it feels like family vibes in being GENUINE and FAIR. No color, no attitude, great upsale and wonderful environment overall! I am from the southeast side so I’m am NOT use to this service AT ALL! I will be back with ALLLL of my money. I will recommend all of my “responsible” friends to go here!

Excellent customer service! The team is great. It's a small(ish) store so they can't carry everything, but they'll order it for you if they don't have it! Plus, they provide a bunch of other services like UPS access, CO2 canister exchanges, and they even build window screens. Really cannot recommend them enough.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff that you won't find at Home Depot or Lowe's. Limited parking but I've always been able to get a spot and the store is pretty small but you can usually find what you're looking for. Spend a bit more here and you won't regret it.

Annie's Ace Hardware gives a small town vibe in a city. Employees are helpful, guiding customers to find what they need. Lots of items in stock, and we can get everything from garden hoses and nozzles, to household paint, to air filters, and even fun stuff like cool socks! Annie's is always our first choice for hardware items.

I am a regular here for my job and not solely because it's five minutes down the street. The level of service that I receive is top tier. As soon as you walk into the store, someone is greeting you and ready to assist. The associates are always helpful and providing insight. The store tends to have a great selection of everything you need and everything you don't need lol. I discovered Dots pretzels here and haven't been able to put them down since! Overall you may spend about the same here or a little more than at Lowes, but the customer service is impeccable and makes it all worth it.

This is a small neighborhood hardware store but they keep an impressive array of hardware, tools, paint, garden, and "lifestyle" items for most DIY projects. Where the big box stores are geared to accommodate contractors, Annie's aims for the individual and their residence. Staff is always friendly, the store is well staffed for their size so there's always someone available for questions or assistance. I really appreciate a hardware store that can still operate in the neighborhood without leveling 15 acres. Factoring in my time and general frustration with large box stores, the prices for a quick trip down the street are competitive with other options.

Can be good, can be down right bad service. Minorities be cautious. I use it as a last resort. 50/50 chance of achieving anything. Try the internet first. No BB there.

Annie's Ace Hardware became the heir to the old Brookland True Value when it closed a few years ago. Annie's carries on the tradition of being an old fashioned hardware store that has a bit of everything. They aren't as big as some of the other Ace locations in the city but they are a great resource for Brookland. They also have a small garden area which carries a variety of plants and supplies varying by the season. The staff is wonderfully helpful but will also let you browse at your own pace. Several employees came over from the True Value after it closed, great continuity. Check this place out if you're in the area and support a local business vs a big box chain.

I love this store! The staff is always super friendly and helpful -- and they make every visit a genuinely enjoyable experience for me. They really care about achieving full customer satisfaction and it shows in their every action -- always quick to go above and beyond my expectations. I have been going to the store for more than four years since I moved to my home in Edgewood, and plan to continue to use as my #1 resource for all home goods needs in future. Other large home store giants lack knowledgeable and respectful staff, as well as customized products I need for my small row house. ACE consistently delivers -- and I have never had less than an excellent shopping experience at the store. The team here is truly passionate and professional --and I'm very impressed with the excellent service consistency & positive morale that are a clear result of a well respected and effective store manager who truly invests in their employees' success. Well done team, well done.

Customer service today could have been a little better, the UPS man in the back was a bit unfriendly.

The folks at this Ace are world class. They helped with paint selection, tools, hardware parts, and have helped with every project. Super appreciative of the team and will continue to return for home projects. Also sign up for their rewards program, I get coupons for 5 bucks off often.

The best hardware store in all of DC! I had to come here a handful of times in the past few months after moving into a house. I was astounded by how much they really do care about their customers and their knowledge of the products they carry. I met the owner a few times as well and he's incredibly smart and nice! Because they are part of a greater company, they've got a great rewards system. I'm always getting coupons, so make sure to sign up.

This was my first visit ever to an Ace Hardware store. What an experience...a huge shout out to The Phenomenal Brookland NE Washington DC Staff, MARIA, Casey, Chris, Charlie, and Donte! I had burdened Maria with the task of assisting me find the hardware for the assembly of a trundle bed that I'd ordered from a manufacturer named Merax (avoid) who neglected to send us the hardware to assemble the furniture. There were over or close to 100 pieces of hardware that was required for this piece. She was so kind, professional, and patient. Maria went above and beyond to research if there was an item that wasn't at their store, then would find a comparable item. The team would ask if you needed assistance and greeted Customers. I believe that speaking with your customers is beneficial for numerous reasons and helps with security and safety of the establishment. I witnessed a father walking through the store with a young child, and while grinning from ear-to-ear he says, "I love this place". The store was well stocked, clean, and warm. In addition, with the amount of items I needed during this visit, the cost were reasonable and in accord with common pricing. This was a one shop stop, which I highly appreciate. The staff definitely enhanced my first experience. ACE Hardware, in the famous words of Arnold Schwarzenegger....I'll Be Back. Your Satisfied Customer.

I shop here often for my business and for personal items. This evening it was especially gracious of CJ and Andre to welcome me as they were closing. I needed a battery for my garage remote. Andre said, "No problem, I can help you with that." And away we went. Andre was eager to help and was professional in opening the case and finding the right battery number. Great shop, small but well supplied. Excellent, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Limited parking, but how long do you need to spend in a hardware shop? Beats the Big Box stores nearly every time. Glad they're nearby; they know the neighborhood and have seen most common issues that arise.

this is covid-19 time review After the third horrible impossibly crappy experience at Lowe's on top of 2-3 terrible ones at Home depot we finally got smart and went to an Ace hardware. They had a greeter at the door who was keeping track of the total number of people they were letting in the store. He was super nice, too. They arranged the entrance for one way in and one way out which I appreciated All employees wore masks and all but one wore them correctly over their noses. every single employee was friendly and helpful We'll definitely be regulars here great job!

Over the past seven years I've lived in DC, I have frequented four Ace locations (Petworth, Logan Circle, Adams Morgan and Brookland) and even though I now live within walking distance of Petworth, I will take any excuse to go to Brookland instead. Every visit has been positive, thanks in large part to the terrific staff who are by far the friendliest hardware store employees I've encountered anywhere. They always seem genuinely happy to welcome you and to help if needed, without any weird mansplaining vibes. The selection is solid and well-stocked. They are a UPS Access Point (which Petworth no longer is) and they have parking! What more could you ask for? Thanks for being awesome!

This is our go-to place for household and hardware needs. Amazingly friendly staff and very well-stocked store. From key making to housecleaning supplies to paint to bird-feeders and potting supplies.... they have it all! We use them for our household and commercial needs. Dog friendly inside too! Bring your pup.

This store is--hands down--the best hardware store in the city. (Yes, I've been to quite a few.) I am impressed every time I walk through the doors because the staff are always friendly, helpful, and professional. Whoever does the hiring for Annie's Ace has got it down to an art. No, you're not going to have the warehouse-sized selection of the big box stores, but you'll get what you need and you'll have a good experience doing it. Today, I went in to pick up two gallons of specialty paint that they don't carry in stock. When I expressed my amazement that they got the order in so quickly (same day), the guy who helped me on the phone admitted that he went to the warehouse to pick it up for me. Two things about this: (1) he went to a warehouse to pick it up for me and (2) he didn't even tell me that's what he had to do to get me what I needed until I asked. This demonstrates this company's true commitment to customer service. Everyone had always been great, but I'd like to give a special shout out to Alex for all his help today.

I don't know why anyone in the area would choose a big box store over Annie's, I really don't. The staff is amazing. The guy who works the paint department is super helpful and knowledgeable. He also gave me some advice on primer even though I want buying from them that day. There is someone always around who can actually help you. They know their stuff!! They also have a surprisingly large selection of stuff.

This store is awesome! The people who work here are exceedingly kind, helpful, and hard working. They are very well versed in the products they carry. Recently I ordered a piece of plexiglass for pick up and they offered to cut it to the exact size I needed for free! It was a difficult cut since I barely needed any cut off but they did it perfectly! Getting it at this store was 20$ cheaper than Amazon and $10 cheaper than Home Depot. I also love the convenience of the ups drop off point. The merchandise is a thoughtful, convenient assortment and is priced very competitively. Annies is a true asset to the neighborhood and I'll def be back.

I needed to replace the broken plexiglass for my storm door. It required me to do more than I wanted so I asked Lowes to fix it. They no longer provide that service. I went to my local Annie's Ace Hardware and discovered that they were HAPPY to, and for a price that I liked. Sean, the Ace agent, was pleasant and called me the next morning to let me know it was done and I could pick it up. Lesson - don't be so fast to go to a big box like Lowes when you can get quality, professional and personalized service from a place like Annie's Ace Hardware. BTW - the plexiglass on my storm door is so clear that it appears that there isn't any glass in it at all.

Dante and Ramani were so amazing in assisting us put in a huge order for delivery today. They were so were patient as we went through our large order (which had tons of different items). Everything was delivered same day (and so promptly) and everything in our order was there. We had so many heavy bags of soil and they so graciously dropped them off at our front door (up a dozen steps). Really amazing customer service and great selection. I'll definitely be shopping here going forward instead of big box. Thank you!!!

I must I must give Annies in Brookland the best shoutout! I was looking for salt melt badly! I called and they had just got an order! The sales reps was excellent, most of them, One I believe a young woman there was the manager maybe, was working with in plant Section & she let me interrupt her many times! You would never know she's not annie! Lol she was 100% wonderful I spent my money happily! This is what businesses got to do! Satisfied your customers! Give her a raise! I will return

I'm giving this Annie's Ace Hardware 5 stars because my dad is obsessed with this store. I would not know the difference between a good and great hardware store, but he would. I think my dad comes to visit me just to stop in at this hardware store to buy nails and a cool soda. As I just moved into a new apartment, I have been to this hardware store more than a few times to pick up things I need. When Home Depot had sold out of every fan and air conditioner, Annie's was still fully stocked in the heat wave. There is a little bit of everything in here, and according to my dad, the shelves are very well stocked. There are also a bunch of US bottled sodas, which are fun to try. We have tried all of the different orange sodas and a cream soda, and they are only $1.75 or so. The employees early Saturday and Sunday mornings are always very friendly, and I would come early for a parking spot! It really fills up.

I really like this place! An awesome, convenient hardware store. It's a neighborhood hardware store with some basics for the home (kitchen supplies, floor mats, cleaning supplies), Hold onto your receipt, and don't open something til you're ready to use it! Mixed bag on prices. You can find some things here cheaper than you'd find elsewhere! Name brands, too... and some of the items on sale are major deals. That said, some things are quite highly priced. There have been times where out shopping elsewhere and have seen the exact same item sold cheaper; I've even bought the Ace brand version of something here and seen the *actual* name brand for literally half the price! Yet again, there are also some great sticker prices here simultaneously. This is a neighborhood branch of a larger store, so it's not that strange to me. I have returned a few things (unused, of course) with my receipt if I saw a big enough price difference, and they've never hassled me. I've had great interactions with staff. An older woman signed me up for Ace Rewards my first time there at the register and I've rung out with her a few times since; she's not one to just ring out your things and get you out of the door. It's a nice interaction, and she responds so kindly to requests. Another time, an associate named Vicki was fantastic. I needed help figuring out how to hang things in my apartment; it was the last ten minutes of the store being open so I didn't want to be a bother. But, Vicki really made sure to explain different options to me, asked me questions and would truly think about how I could approach my projects and patiently explained to my ignorant self what was going on, what was a good idea and what wasn't, etc. It was one of those interactions where you feel really taken care of as a customer! Come by! This place is such a resource and deserves its reviews.

The staff is always super nice, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. During Covid times, both the staff and customers are organized, masked, friendly, and keep a safe distance. The staff is great at greeting people and letting the appropriate number of customers in the store. They are and have always been great at helping you find everything you need. Annie's is a great neighborhood hardware store.

Exceptional service! I stopped by Annie's Ace Hardware for some drain cleaner and was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were able to answer my questions and guide me through my selection. I also love that there is parking out front! I'll be very happy to shop here again.

Still some of the nicest, most helpful people. I moved to SW and still go out of my way to come to this Ace because they are truly amazing. I needed a piece of wood cut to make a shelf in my new place, and they did it without hesitation. No charge, even though I was perfectly willing to pay for it.

This is a great neighborhood hardware store. The staff members are friendly and generally quite knowledgeable and will lead you immediately to whatever Item you are looking for. They have the best selection of drawers of hardware odds and ends I have ever seen. And if they don't have it, they'll order it for you. The only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars is because their prices are higher than the big-boxers. But that's unavoidable if you have a local hardware store with sufficient staff -- unlike the BBSes.

Love the new location. Took a visit from SE DC, by passing Fragers (too cramped) and rode over to Ace's after a blog referred them for having a faucet hose connect part I needed. I knew what I needed but didnt know the exact name. The staff rep knew exactly what I was referring to after showing him a pic. Needless to so I was sooooo excited, now I can finish my project!! He (so sorry, don't remember his name, tall light with brown hair, easy on the eyes 1.4.16 about 6pm) even put the contraption together for me. To add to the deal, after signing up for my ACE rewards card, I got a discounted soda. Who doesn't love a deal? Ample parking, spacious, knowledgeable staff....what are you waiting for?

Incredibly convenient to have this in the neighborhood. Staff has always been helpful and friendly to me and they have a wide selection. I recently purchased a condo nearby, I was constantly running over to get everything from paint to a power drill. Usually I know exactly what I want before I arrive, but if not, the staff has always been able to point me in the right direction. They also offer a ton of other helpful services - drop off paper shredding, for instance, and they're a UPS access point, so I can always drop up or pick up packages there. Just a great store overall - a real asset for Brookland.

Amani is super helpful and went above and beyond! The stores selection is great too, lots of good stuff in the sale section and good quality.

Service is always painfully slow and indifferent here with the exception of a few good employees. It also tends to be more expensive than Home Depot, which is nearby. Presumably one of the advantages is supposed to be the service, which as I said before is awful. I only go for Benjamin Moore paint, and service is so bad I've decided I just need to pick another Ace Hardware even if it's further from home.

I went to this hardware store to get a dowel for art project I needed to hang on the wall. Super friendly staff and they know their stuff. They are really conveniently located... right off of Monroe street, across from Brookland Pint and the metro. They are also more than willing to stock something you regularly need and have green products. Super alternative to big box store madness!

Everyone in here is so helpful and pleasant. It is great to know they have everything we need just around the corner and can help whenever as well!
