19 Houston Burgers to Add to Your Bucket List

"This neighborhood spot has been serving up classic all-beef smash burgers for more than 30 years, and needless to say, they’re pros. Spring for the double-meat burger for $6.20 — only a dollar difference from the single — and load up on your choice of sauces and fixings like crispy bacon. Drink down a hand-blended shake or the homemade lemonade, and don’t forget a side of onion rings." - Minh Truong, Brittany Britto Garley

Google
10/10 i had the bacon burger and added jalapeños. it hit the SPOT. so flavorful and the sauce that the give for the fries is delicious i am definitely coming back. Someone told me the breakfast is worth it as well! pretty massive burger😍 oh and the brownie was so good

Google
It was obvious that this place has been doing things by the book since the beginning (in the best way). Get a lemonade when you go- they’re made with snow cone ice and fresh lemons. The service was personal, quick, and they were happy to make our burgers just how we wanted them. If you like it spicy they have a homemade spicy mayo we loved.

Located where Meyerland turns hood is Annie’s. Apparently this bad boy has been open for a long time and based on the shopping center it’s in, you can tell lol. Parking is understood? There isn’t any striping so your guess is as good as mine. Walk in and it reeked of cash only but that wasn’t the case lol. I noticed you can do some breakfast combos and they cook all the shit right in front of you. Then again Benihana is pigeon food so buyer beware. Double Cheeseburger 7.5/10 - like it’s fine. They do this convection double oven thing to cook their meat. Imagine like the toaster they use for pizzas with the conveyor belt. It tastes like it needs some moisture. Ultimately it’s not bad but not great either. Solid. Fries 7/10 - standard 7 here. 10 points 8 rebounds Follow me on IG Eats_By_Puig

Google
It was my first time coming here with my brother on Friday. Service was excellent and these were the best burgers and fries I ever had. I’m definitely coming back here. I recommend it.

Google
I've passed by this place for at least 20 yrs and NEVER visited. Today I decided I wanted to try it. Well, let's just say I'll wait another 20 years before I visit again. The burger looks good but it was very AVERAGE. No juicy burger here. It was precooked and it tasted like it. $13 burger and onion rings.

Google
The place is nice, the service & food were great!

Google
First of all food is cold, it sits in the window while they talk. They slow by taking too many orders at one time. The Bacon just stacks hi not hot at all. The only thing that might come out hot is eggs. But then cook then put them in a bucket until your number is called.Dont waste your time with lemonade they fill your cup with ice and then add one scoop. It's about 15 minutes now and I'm still waiting for 2 tacos. If you don't do anything right about breakfast why try the burgers.

Google
Food was delicious, the main eating area was a little warm but the side dining room was very comfortable! The lemonade was wonderful. Bathroom doors are cute, check them out.

Yelp
A great simple classic burger that tastes like a burger should taste. Satisfying, not greasy, not drowning in unidentifiable sauce, not piled three feet high with donuts and bacon for Instagram. Nvm the epidemic of fast food all around here- Annie's is the place to go.

Yelp
We saw this place online and that it was called a Houston staple (they've been in business a long time!) and tried it out. The value is great! Fries $3. They're crispy! A beer place is only as good as its fries and these are good. The burgers are really good. About $5-$7. Perfectly cooked. Juicy. Flavorful. We went right before the lunch crowd but it started getting busy with people on their lunch break. It's obviously a popular place. The food came out fast. I wasn't crazy about the lemonade but the food was good. I'll definitely be back. The place is large and clean. No issues there.

Yelp
My son and I finally tried out Annie's a couple weeks ago. There are no combos you have to basically buy everything separately. The online pricing is very outdated and I was kinda disappointed about that. You basically pay at the register after you place your order and wait for your order to be called. We ate inside and the decor was average yet homey. My son enjoyed his burger. For me it wasn't bad but it wasn't good enough to me to come back for the amount I spent. The patties are thin and didn't have a lot of flavor to them. The bacon was crispy and good. Overall it's worth a try. I did enjoy the onion rings and fries

Yelp
Just stopped at an old place called and Annie's hamburgers. It's been here about 50 years. It was really good. The staff was very sweet. The hamburgers - they put the vegetables on the bottom bun and the meat on top which is different for me. But it was really good pretty juicy. The onion rings were super crispy just like I like them almost burnt but when you bite them the onion cuts and so no pulling on onion strings. The French fries were crispy and good. Cute place - worth coming in and checking it out. Irania works the cash register and she was so sweet. They they have this homemade lemonade that's ice that looks like snow. It's really good not too sweet not too sour. I'm sure I will be back.

Yelp
Wow! This his is a first. Hours said today they close at 6:00pm. I got there at 5:02pm and the lady at the door told me they close at 5:00pm. I looked at my watch and said it says 5:02pm and she replied sorry. People sitting in the restaurant was shocked! Me too!!! It might be the best meal I ever had, but I can't recommend this place for the treatment alone. Zero stars from me. #Pkast

Yelp
Delicious everyone in my family loved this place. Service great!! Can't wait to try their breakfast

Alex B.

Yelp
Hands down best buttermilk pancakes. Not a fan of the burgers but I go for the breakfast. Service is ol school, order at the front and they call your number when it's ready. Coffee isn't bad either.
google avatar

Helen Joy L.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for the past 10 years and it's always consistent. The stack of bacon they have in the back is crazy looking and one of the reasons we keep coming back Everyone is super nice and the tables are always clean. One of the saddest day in our life was when we moved to Katy from down the street from Annie's because now we have to drive 30 minutes to this place. The price is still the same since the day we started coming to this place and that's rare these days!

Othello B.

Yelp
Old Fashion Burger Joint that also sells breakfast. The burgers are prepared well and the bacon is always crispy. They have homemade lemonade as well!!
google avatar

Niloo A.

Yelp
Usually we go there for their burgers but tonight the food was awful. The meat was totally raw and watery. When I let them know they told me sorry, we will talk to the kitchen. That was not professional. I will never go back again. Don't waste your money please.
google avatar

Yelp
3.5 stars rounding up to 4. the burger is a great sized portion and price is very reasonable. the flavor/taste was pretty good nothing crazy. staff are friendly.

Yelp
Great service! Clean and orderly. The burger was just a burger. Not a horrible burger, not a great burger. Just a burger to give you fuel.

Alison M.

Yelp
If they address this issue and I fix it, I will go back to Annie's all the time again. I love Annie's, but the last few times I have visited, I was cornered by the same guy who asked me to order him food. I find those situations awkward and I know I can say no but he waits until I throw away my food and it's just me and him, and he's really pushy. I don't feel like I should have to deal with that when I eat in a restaurant so if I see him inside, I won't be going back. Drove by today and he was there :(

Daniel L.

Yelp
Great little burger joint gives you a bit of diner feeling and is priced great, they also have a really great breakfast simple uncomplicated breakfast great place to casually chill out and enjoy some old American standards

Jarrad S.

Yelp
Awesome Mom & Pop shop!! Ordered for about 7 people in the office and everyone enjoyed it!! Staff was really nice!! The atmosphere was clean and friendly!

Shannon P.

Yelp
It doesn't look like much inside or outside. Kind of funny so I wasn't expecting much but the burgers were really tasty and the onion rings were pretty decent. Really enjoyed the frosty lemonade. Service was nice.
google avatar

Naren S.

Yelp
The food is consistently good. Everything is fresh made and you can taste that freshness. The service is also fast and friendly.

Kelsey F.

Yelp
OUR FAVORITE burger joint. Super fast and friendly service! I ordered the chicken sandwich add bacon and jalapeños. Bacon was super crispy and chicken was so moist!! Boyfriend ate his burger without breathing I feel like we live down the road so we walk here often Annie's for the win every time!
google avatar

Yelp
Why didn't i come sooner? Best burger place that I've tried I came here to take my brother for lunch and it was so good burger was big and fries were well cooked and crunchy. The place was clean and loved the decorations will be returning again for sure

Yelp
Wonderful burgers! My first time here! Had a double bacon cheeseburger, with fries & onion rings and homemade lemonade! The brownies are also homemade and delicious! I'll be back to try the breakfast! -DJW

Yelp
Annie's burgers has been a stamp in in my childhood. Don't know how long Yelp has been around, but I wasn't familiar with Yelp until couple of years ago. So needless to say I've eaten here since a toddler. Food is always on point, delicious, hot, service is friendly, and I love me a good brownie and homemade lemonade. This place has it all. Definitely family friendly.
google avatar

Lance C.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches are THEE best. I get sausage, bacon, egg, breakfast potatoes, and cheese. It doesn't take long to get your food and it's hot. Nice homey atmosphere.

Yelp
I started eating breakfast here over the Summer, but noticed the staff frequently handles food barehanded. I had to repeatedly ask them to use gloves when taking my waffle off the iron (since they don't use tongs or a spatula), which seemed to trigger attitude depending on the associate. During my previous visit after politely reminding the associate to use gloves when handling my waffle, I noticed she still tried to give me the one that was previously made when she wasn't wearing gloves. They also tend to have sudden price hikes/policies not reflected on the menu board. This morning the standard #1 somehow rang up $14.95 according to the register display. I pointed it out to the associate who dismissively informed me it showed $11.95 on her side of the register. Okay. Then fix that bullsh*t. However, she insisted she could no longer substitute pancakes for a waffle on my other entree because the "price of waffles went up" since *yesterday.* Suspicious practice and not worth the trouble.

Yelp
This is what whataburger probably tasted like before it became whataburger. It's fresher and you get more veggies on your burger than the chain restaurant across the street. If you like thin well made burger patties this is the spot. I only took off a star because the fries tasted stale, but the burger was great!

Yelp
I was craving a near Old fashioned hamburger, Remembered Annie's so I paid them a visit. I ordered a Jalapeño Bacon Cheeseburger. Somehow the cheese was left off, no problem. It was fully dressed without Mayo. Not a fan of Mayo, don't like the white stuff around my mouth. It was good enough to take away my cravings. I don't do burger's often, so this will hold me for a while. There was no line so the wait wasn't long. Gonna have to stop in for breakfast soon.

Kobe H.

Yelp
Diner filled vibes with good food. Walk up to order as not serviced by someone. Menu pretty basic and small. Stops serving BFAST at 11
google avatar

LaToysha W.

Yelp
Disgusting. Annie's was once so good. It's not been the same in years. Tried to give breakfast a shot today. Breakfast tacos were terrible. Absolutely no sausage at all and minimal cheese. My last time visiting!
google avatar

Niki M.

Yelp
Hands down one of the absolute best burgers I've ever had. Super cute little spot. I was out shopping and didn't want fast food. So I found this little spot and popped in. So glad I did. I will be back OFTEN!!! Bacon burger, half onion rings/half fries, lemonade and idk what this crack sauce is but I LOVE IT!!! Such a cool place. I love how the kitchen looks like a well oiled machine too. Everyone has their job and does it in sync. Can taste the love in every bite.

Yelp
Stopped for a burger with my son. This is not a fancy burger place but the burgers were very tasty and reasonably priced, the fries were good too. I'll be back with my wife, good bang for your buck.

John H.

Yelp
This place is outstanding! Good price. Great burger. Super friendly staff. And the sauce they serve with the onion rings is incredible. Will be back!
google avatar

Mo L.

Yelp
Went in and looked up above the kitchen. It was extremely dirty like from an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. If there willing to let customers see thick black dirt and grease above all their grills, there is no telling what filth is in the back.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
4/5 stars is strictly for the pancakes and the size of the biscuit! I had other typical breakfast items like eggs, bacon, and french toast but the highlight of my meal was my son's pancakes (hot cakes on menu). They were large and in charge! If you partake in the potatoes and gravy, ask for salsa. It seems homemade and very good! Not too spicy and kinda liquidy but its good. Reminds me of my all time biscuits and gravy fave from Whataburger with their picante sauce BUT better of course. I live close by so the next time i roll deep with 3 teenagers, I will come here for breakfast. Prices arent too bad but i wish they cooked my eggs over medium instead of scrambled.

Yelp
Annie's breakfast again. So good. Had breakfast plate and awesome breakfast. Hubby had eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuit. I had hotcakes, sausage eggs. Thoughtfully prepared for take out. Plasticware, napkins, butter, syrup. Delicious. Hubby ate his entire breakfast. I had a pancake to spare. Saving for later. They can be frozen and eaten later. Staff excellent. Nice. Food was timely. Restaurant clean. Overall pleasant. Highly recommend. Neighborhood treasure

Brandon M.

Yelp
A great local business with fresh made lemonade. The burgers are very tasty and it sure beats any fast food in the area. Definitely a stop if you enjoy a good ol classic hamburger with no frills.

Kacy G.

Yelp
10/10 highly recommend!! If you are looking for an old school diner style burger this is your spot. Definitely will have to try the milk shakes next time

Yelp
I found this place and bookmarked it for when I was in the area. Last week, I was able to visit. It was easy to find on S. Post Oak and the Yelp location is accurate. It shares parking with a small somewhat run down shopping center. Walking inside the main dining room is bright and airy with large windows and the counter/kitchen is straight ahead. This place serves breakfast but I was here for lunch so I ordered a single patty burger with fries and drink for $9.18 with tax. They announce your order number when ready and mine was available in less than 10 minutes. Both items came wrapped in white paper. The burger was good. Good bun, patty and well dressed. I enjoyed it and it was filling. Ditto on the fries. They weren't shoestring fries but were thin. They were hot and properly salted. It was a good meal and represented value with its cost. This restaurant also has a second smaller dining room used for overflow. Yelp currently rates Annie's with 3 1/2 stars and I agree and would be happy to return if in the area.

Linda R.

Yelp
So I was looking for an old school burger and boy did I find it! I used to love Whataburger but they no longer make them to order and it's hit or miss if u get a hot hamburger. After my first bite of my bacon burger at Annie's, my soul just sighed. Just what I was looking for and I will definitely come back when I'm craving a flavorful homemade cheeseburger. I also got the onion rings which I was hoping were going to be hot and crispy but they were just mush. Ate about 2. The lemonade was good but very sour. Service was quick

Robert N.

Yelp
Really solid burger. They put plenty of condiments and don't skimp on bacon which is a big plus. They have breakfast as well and some super good lemonade.
google avatar

Yelp
Why do you eat at an establishment named Annie's Hamburgers and never order a hamburger? The answer is simple: breakfast! Annie's has a great one. It's traditional. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, biscuits... It's all delicious, with portions generous and the prices so reasonable. The menu is not extensive, all fitting on a board next to the cash register, but the staff is friendly and will gladly accommodate you if they can. The atmosphere is basic. You order at the counter. You're given a mug to fill your own coffee. There's water at the counter. There's a bowl of assorted jams. There's a station where you pick up napkins and silverware. There's a pump for ketchup. There's a spigot for syrup. None of this sounds very appealing on the surface, but it all works perfectly. Frankly I prefer the self sufficiency provided here to hoping elsewhere that a server refill my coffee. When your number is called you'll be welcomed by a tray with massive pancakes, huge biscuits...
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Great find. Food was in generous portions, very good taste and good price point. We had lunch (burgers) and they were awesome. Hand squeezed lemonade, shakes and frostys. Breakfast looked dynamite as well. Will be going back for sure.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
I love the breakfast at this place, but I find the lunch menu not to my liking. Well, the hamburgers to be more specific. I would like to have fresh patties. This place uses frozen ...

tracie h.

Yelp
Oh man ! I knew when i walked in a smelled them burgers, onion rings and fries cooking it was gonna be good !! Bacon burger and fries hit the spot ! AND THAT LEMONADE, omg, like a slush ! So Fresh! And HOMEMADE ! Definitely gonna be my burger joint when i'm in the area! Great staff too !
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Fantastic old school hamburgers. Fries are amazing, and their homemade sauce is something I've never tasted before. They've become my go-to burger joint!
google avatar

Lynne G.

Yelp
Great burgers and fries. Love the dipping sauce for the fries. If you love a good old fashion hamburger this is the place to eat. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Iris R.

Yelp
This place holds a sentimental value for me. I removed getting breakfast with my mom on her way to work. We use to live around the area so Annie's was a go-to for burgers as well. Now as an adult, I don't frequent it as much because it's so far from where I live. But on a rainy day like it is this Sunday, we thought it was a perfect time to swing by for breakfast. For two #6 and two drinks with one brownie we spent $25 which is more reasonable than most. Their pancakes can easily feed two people. They have old vintage decor but don't let the outside fool you, it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Norma K.

Yelp
This place is fabulous. The cheeseburgers are amazing and the onion rings to die for. The staff is very attentive and really friendly. Love it! I've been missing Bellaire Broiler Burger ever since they shut down (temporarily) because of Covid and I'm so glad I found a wonderful replacement. Yay!
google avatar

Darris J.

Yelp
This place was always a treat growing up. It's still a hole in the wall diner. Same chairs I sat in 30 years ago. Same potholes in the parking lot and same menu and employees. Same over cooked bacon Outside of them taking over the adjacent space and expanding nothing has changed. If you're hungry or looking for family and wallet friendly breakfast it'll do, but if your palate has grown past that of an 8 year old a better meal is up the road at some spots in Meyerland/Bellaire/Galleria if you are looking for breakfast. If you are the mood for a cheese burger, look no further. They're awesome. Big, juicy and filling.
google avatar

Jim D.

Yelp
Burgers are not my first choice when choosing a cuisine. But, since my son and I were dining together for a special occasion, I let him choose. These burgers are a true guilty pleasure for me. They are huge, juicy and cooked just right. They have all the fresh fixings and drip with melted cheese. The massive stack of cooked bacon in front of the grill is a none-too-subtle suggestion that you should bacon on your burger. And, you would be right. My son couldn't finish his and took part of it home. It was just as good later. Now, you are going to have to hit the gym to work this all off. But, it's worth it.

Janice D.

Yelp
Don't forget breakfast! Annie's has your fantasies! The photo is our #1 and #2 orders this morning.
google avatar

Monique Y.

Yelp
Didn't have to wait long at all for our food, service was good. Prices are great! Our total came out to abt $25. Food tasted home made and was very filling. Potatoes were a little greasy but I ate em. Lol. I honestly prefer their breakfast over the burgers. They aren't nasty, breakfast is just better. Also, idk what kind of orange juice that was but delicious!
