This Valencia Street Irish Pub Could Soon Be Demolished to Make Way for A New High Rise | Eater SF

"An Oakland-based bakery, Annie’s T Cakes was tapped by the production company of Everything Everywhere All at Once to make the almond cookie seen in the movie for the San Francisco Castro Theatre premiere; she had already been working on a version of the cookie before being asked and presented it to the movie crowds and Michelle Yeoh." - Dianne de Guzman

I have had the honor of tasting the "failed" batches and those were amazing. Being able to finally eat the "winning" cakes was even better. I love pastries, my auntie used to deliver them every lunar new year after her trip to China and they are a special little treat. The fact that these are gluten free makes it even better. It's the little memories that can now continue into adulthood. Thank you Annie!

Google
I'm addicted to mooncakes and have had more than my fair share. When I learned of this place and that it shipped across the US I had to try. Not only where they communicative about the shipping, but the cakes themselves are by far the best I have had in the states. I plan to try all the things they have to offer!

Google
These were SO good! Vegan & Gluten free! I bought the 4+1 pack to share, but uh... I may have eaten them all already 😅 I really like that both the cake and the inside aren't too sweet. Highly recommend 😊

Google
Unbelievable. I bought one of everything she had at a local market. I wish if bought more! The pineapple cake is incredible. Sweet, the perfect texture. The moon cakes too! Try the jasmine if you can 🤠 Photos are of the chocolate pineapple cakes.

Google
She is a must-stop stall at the downtown SF ferry building's Saturday farmer's market whenever I'm in town. Her treats and cakes are incredibly delicious. I'm a huge fan of the black sesame, and her pineapple cake was also hearty and flavorful!

Google
The jasmine tea flavored mooncake is very good. I didn’t like the black sesame one as much but it was still decent. Will try the other flavors soon.

Google
Tried the pineapple cakes at a local teashop (Far Leaves) and they were, bar none, the best ones I've tried yet. They are so much better than the famous Taiwanese brands, which are all way too artificially sweet. I also like how there's enough pineapple chunks inside for added texture. Where can I buy more?

Google
Was given the wrong order (pre-ordered moon cakes for mid autumn festival), however, Annie graciously correctly her mistake. Otherwise it was a smooth pick up at the SF ferry building farmer's market with practically no wait.

Yelp
Annie's T Cakes is finally at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market! I first discovered Annie's T Cakes late last year when I saw them as a vendor at the SF International Tea Festival but, at that point, they had sold out. Since then, I've always wanted to try them and had been anticipating the day they would begin selling from the Ferry Building Farmer's Market. While visiting the market on a Saturday morning, it was finally time to find the tent and stop by. I ordered both the red bean and jasmine tea mooncakes. One thing to note about Annie's T Cakes is that it's entirely vegan. That being said, the mooncakes were still loaded with flavor and texturally on point; you wouldn't even be able to tell that it's vegan. While the jasmine tea was delicious, with subtle notes of jasmine flavor, the red bean was my favorite. I'm also a sucker for red bean so this definitely hit the spot. Annie, herself, is super cool to chat with. She's casual, approachable, and very informative if you have questions about her product. With Autumn Moon Festival coming up, I'm super pumped to see what she'll have available and I feel great being able to support a super local business during this time!

Yelp
It's been a while since I've had this as I wasn't a fan when I tried this last year. It was only due to a generous friend that I tried a couple things from Pastel which became Neon, my favorite food consolidator. However, on the final Saturday in July, I was walking past Volcano Kimchi when I saw their prominent sign above their stand on the south driveway (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ATb3L6Se8Jutj4Oad18FAQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). As I took photos of their menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jIibHKcCoPChasdDgRM4qA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) and took a few steps back to forward them to that friend, I knew that I couldn't leave before trying something. I decided to get the original pineapple cakes (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Xpe2zg-pKXCQz2S9ZVrL-w&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), which I absentmindedly left in one of my shopping bags with an assortment of fresh fruits from the market. Though crushed, I still made my way the next afternoon in eating one of the two bagged cakes. I really enjoyed how moist and fresh the filling is with chunks of pineapple instead of the standard jam texture. I will get this again. I bought some of the other items for my friend but I have not spoken to her about them yet. I will look for them this Saturday and try the almond cookie, black sesame mooncake, and/or the black sesame sugar mooncookie. Decisions.

Yelp
When folks at work asked me what Asian desserts we should order for an AAPI Heritage month event...my mind immediately went to the Everything Everywhere All At Once almond cookies from Annie's T Cakes that were at A24's SF premiere for EEAAO. Dear reader, Annie's T Cakes delivered. These almond cookies were so good and a hit at work, especially because they were VEGAN too (like whaaaat). Seriously like the best vegan cookie I've ever had, and bonus because almond cookies are the bomb. Our AAPI month event was a smashing success because we had these little smileys to give out :-) THANK YOU SO MUCH ANNIE'S T CAKES!!! I am a fan for life.

Yelp
I love seeing new baked good stands at the Ferry Building Farmers Market. They have a narrow focus of pineapple cakes, almond cookies and mooncakes. Feels a bit more artisanal than what you'd find in Chinatown. Pineapple Cake: I love that she doesn't skimp on the pineapple in these. Lots of big chunks, slightly sweetened/candied, with a nice firm mouthfeel. Perfect against the pasty buttery dough. Though I kinda wish the dough felt a little more cake-y, it still feels very doughy. Maybe that's because it's gluten-free? Matcha Mooncake: Not a full-sized mooncake and no moon (i.e. egg yolk). But has that ornate dough and a nice dense filling. The taste of matcha was nice and strong. Seemed like it was mixed with some bean base or something, but the matcha was clearly the dominant flavor. Pairs really good with morning coffee. Almond Cookie: Like the classic Chinese bakery version, but thicker and a fresher. Not completely dried out, which was nice. Strong almond aroma through out. Crumbly and also pairs nicely with coffee.

Yelp
I'm not even vegan and I love Annie's T Cakes. My personal favorite is the pineapple cakes. The crust is a great texture and the filling is juicy with the perfect balance of sweetness. Close second is definitely the almond cookies. They're dense, filling, and have a unique flavor that's hard to explain. Not fully sweet and even a little savory. Annie's flavors are definitely hard to replicate.

Yelp
I placed a large order ahead of time with Annie's for a baby shower - communication was seamless over email and I was able to place my order easily. Annie's does deliver which was super convenient for the event, and the guests all loved the goods! We went with a mix of mini mooncakes of various flavors, the sesame cookies, and the pineapple cakes. Would definitely order again for a party!

Yelp
Really great service and baked goods! I especially love the pineapple cakes. The chunky pineapples add a great texture and the shortbread is so soft. I really love the black sesame moon cakes as well. There's so much tasty black sesame filling! The almond cookies take me back to the days of home made almond cookies. So glad to have these around!

Yelp
I bought a hojicha moon cake and a red bean moon cake while Annie's T Cakes was at the San Francisco International Tea Festival. I was excited to see nut-free moon cakes available because I am allergic to the traditional Cantonese style mooncakes with peanut oil. These mooncakes don't have the traditional glossy brown color, but the outer pastry has a familiar taste from lye water. I was surprised that they would use olive oil as the main oil, but I didn't taste the olive flavor at all. The fillings were hit and miss- the red bean paste was moist and smooth and I ate it the day I bought it. I ate the hojicha moon cake 3 days after and the filling was dry and crumbly without much roasted hojicha flavor either. Maybe I let it sit for too long? There isn't a best by date on the packaging so I wasn't sure how long they would last.

Yelp
This is the only pineapple cake I've had where you can clearly taste the chunks of pineapples in it. Really love the texture of these and they are dangerously delicious
