Anoche might just be one of Portland’s best-kept secrets in the drinking scene. We’ve been a handful of times now, and every visit leaves us asking the same thing: “Why don’t we come here more often?!” Inspired by Spain’s Basque Country, this place is a total gem. If you’re into vermouths and ciders, Anoche is non-negotiable. If not, no worries. They’ve got plenty of gins, beers, and cocktails as well. The vermouth menu is ridiculously impressive, with options from all over Europe. The food is also a must. The smoked fish spread we tried recently was phenomenal, and the sourdough it came with was perfect. They also have pintxos (small Spanish bites) and I can’t wait to work my way through more of them. The space itself is stunning — easily one of the most beautiful interiors in Portland. From the moment you step through the beautiful wooden doors, you’re greeted by vibrant colors and thoughtful details that make you feel like you’ve been whisked away to another place entirely. We’re big fans of Anoche and can’t recommend it enough!

Everything is perfect! Food is tasty, drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night! Highly recommend! We had the Grilled Sourdough w. Salted Butter, Iberico Chorizo, Caramelized Pearl Onion and Pipara and the Tuna Tin Casserole! They are great! Coming for more next week!

This is a cider bar amped up another level. You immediately feel relaxed and mellowed out when you walk in. The music is on point and it looks like you walked into a temple. Tremendous artwork around the interior and the bathroom sink is the coolest sink I’ve ever seen. They have all types of ciders from around the country, along with other spirits. I didn’t have one, but their gin drinks look great.

The vibe is great and the food and drinks transport you to a cool little spot in Porto or the Galician coast. If you're in Portland this is a must visit for vermouth, cider, and tinned fish.

It’s nice to know that Portland isn’t shy when it comes to ciders like they shy away from in NY. They have a good selection to pick from as well. I love the wood tables and decor

We were leaving Oxbow and decided to check out Anoche because it looked like a cool spot. It didn't disappoint! It was pretty quiet for a Thursday night, so we got our pick of one of the the many seats they had inside at the bar or at tables. The bartender was really chill and helpful, describing the different options on the menu and helping us narrow in on a cocktail. They have tons of cider, but the gin and tonic I ordered was so, so good! It was mild and really smooth, with a light cucumber flavor. We would definitely come here again!

Google
An absolute gem of a place to grab cider or a great gin and tonic. Their list of ciders is extensive and the staff is knowledgeable about the selection. The gin and tonics are inventive and beautiful. The vibe is exceptional, beautiful, low key, great music. I highly recommend Another

Yelp
I love this spot and don't go nearly enough. Its got such a unique tap list bringing in Ciders from Spain. The cheese platters are a delight. Last night they were serving up hot ciders which was very welcome with the windchill! The staff is LOVELY and kind and I always feel safe and warm and cozy here. Super cute spot. The only thing I would mention is that they dont really have a ton in the way of non-alcoholic so if you have non drinkers in your party its a bit of a bummer.

Yelp
I came here around 7:30pm on a Tuesday. This spot was not too busy, but I was one of three groups here. I really enjoy coming here with small groups of friends because of how cozy the space feels. There's soft lighting and lots of wood, and it feels good to meet up here in the winter to read books or chat with friends. I've been here a small handful of times, and I can't say enough good things. The cider is delightful! I adore the ice ciders-they're made from frozen apples and result in stronger drinks with a crisper taste (feel free to fact check me!). I've never had food here, as we are typically killing time here before heading to izakaya minato. If cider is not your thing, there are other delicious drinks. I had one friend try some cocktails and I liked the taste of the Rhonda's rita. There's cider, beer, vermouth, g&t, wine, and some cocktails. I definitely recommend coming here either alone or with friends, as long as you want to treat yourself to a nice drink. My favorite drink was a dry Spanish cider-I wonder what yours will be!

Yelp
Trendy cider and spirits bar on the East End. Several ciders on tap and in the bottle available, most I have ever seen from a singular location. Cool vibes with great proximity to other fun spots. Nice patio area as well.

Yelp
So nice we came back the next day. Deliciously curated list of ciders. There wasn't a single drink we didn't love. Mostly did cider but the gin and tonic was also amazing and smelled like Christmas. Bar is beautiful and ambiance on point. The music was also great, a mix of chill hip hop and house, like Anderson Paak vibes. This is up there for one of my favorite Portland bars. Conveniently located near a couple other great places (Oxbow, duck fat shack, Terlingua). These places were bumping but Anoche was a bit slower. Silly people, don't miss out on this bar! Will be back to try the snacks

Yelp
Drink Review Only: I never drink cider but was next door at Oxbow and figured why not give it a try. I LOVED the limited edition Cider they had called the Edens Harvest Press. I basically downed the first one and had to obviously order a second pour. Apparently anything Edens is great so if you're looking to try cider from Anoche, give that a try. There was a decent amount of outdoor seating but no heat lamps yet as of 11/6. However, that whole row of breweries/distilleries are all friends so I'm sure you could snag a table from one of their neighbors with heat lamps.

Yelp
Never heard of a vermouth flight before but what a delightful experience! All four in my flight were unique and delicious. My wife had a cider flight as well and enjoyed it. We arrived at 4pm on a Friday shortly after they opened and before it got busy, and that was very nice. I also enjoyed some of the tracks on their background playlist. It was foggy outside and the dark atmosphere fit just right.

Yelp
The cider was good, but we quickly moved on. The prices here are ridonkulous. It's a shame, because like the Chaval place, they have a great niche with the Spainish tapas place, but most Spaniards would blush at these prices and portion sizes. No matter how fru-fru you make everything look. Just out of range, unless you have a trust fund.

Yelp
I've been dying to visit Anoche for quite some time but the pandemic prevented us from visiting. Recently we had the chance to visit Portland and made sure to put anoche on our list of stops though of course it was the coldest weekend this fall we made the best of it and sat on their modest, heated patio. It was hard to get the full experience, but I would definitely come back! I can't wait to visit and sit inside and enjoy all the cider they have to offer. They had a unique variety of options and it's always changing which keeps things interesting.

Yelp
Anoche is ok, but I'm probably not the target audience, as I don't love hard cider. It's also another pricey offering in a city that's filled with them. For me, it's exhausting. But first, the good stuff... I think Anoche is the perfect atmosphere for this neighborhood. It's dim and classy. And with two bars and multiple tables, it can hold crowds, while also working as a fantastic date spot. The gin and tonics come in a giant goblet and taste great. There's dozens of ciders to try in bottle and draft in addition to wine and beer. Now, the bad stuff... Each new Portland opening must try to outdo each other for poor value. Most of the draft ciders are 8 or 12 ounce servings, for $7-$9. Maybe the high alcohol percentages make up for the smaller servings? Nope. They primarily fall in the 5%-6% range. The gin and tonics, while large, tasted weak, and are all priced at $14. Also, it's curious to me that the only cocktails offered are gin based when ten steps away is Hardshore Distillery. Hardshore has better gin cocktails, with a housemade product, at much cheaper prices. The food menu is interesting. All I tried was the deviled egg (notice the singular) for $3.50, with chorizo a $2 surcharge. This was one of the worst devil egg(s) I've ever had. It's non traditional, which is fine, but extremely messy and it just didn't work. Anoche will have its audience. It's a classy joint with good atmosphere. But it's not for me. We visited Cocktail Mary, the other new offering nearby, right afterwards and strongly preferred there.

Yelp
Most definitely the best hot cider I've ever had. Paid $4 for a small cup and it was worth every penny. Hot enough to warm you up On these cold days for sure!

Yelp
It's whatever, unfriendly staff. I'd rather head to oxbow right down the alley. You can never tell If Erika is kidding, or she actually hates everything around her. I'd rather not guess, and steer clear of her scrutiny altogether. It wasn't cute at Novare, it's even less cute here.

Yelp
I've always been a beer fan, bourbon fan, and whiskey fan, and gin has not normally my jam. This place changes that completely. The gin and tonic's are absolutely perfectly balanced, the atmosphere is great, and the ciders they carry on tap are amazingly plentiful. We came for the drinks, but the food looked and smelled amazing. We will definitely be back with our appetites next time! Definitely a place that I will go back, I can't wait to update my review with the food.

Yelp
I LOVED this place. Stopped by because of the decor in the front and I was not disappointed! My sister and I tried the Rose cider and after one cup we fell in love! Everyone is super nice and the area is always clean. In case you get hungry there's food all over the area but i 100% recommend YOU try the cider here if you are around. You will not regret it! I need to go back ASAP!

Yelp
Anoche is probably not just my favorite place in Portland, but also in general in quite a while (coming from NYC). Every bite - from the meats and cheeses - and sip - to the ciders, cocktails, and wines - we had was unbelievable. The hospitality of the owners was second to none. My only wish is that Anoche exists in every other city.

Elliot G D.

Yelp
Terrible food and terribly rude service. The vibe was so uncomfortable and uptight. Do not recommend and very unlikely I will try again. I understand food being off sometimes but rude service I see no excuse for. That's foundational. Drinks nice but head someplace else for flavor and a full stomach.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Good food and ambience and the service was friendly and on time. Would def recommend.

Yelp
Such high hopes for this place, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The good: If you go here, stick to the drinks. The location actually has a great atmosphere and having cider on draft is something that Portland has been lacking for quite some time. When you walk in, the dim lighting fits the scene on Washington Ave. The drink menu has a lot of great options. The bad: The food was not good. We had two plates; one was the pork belly stuffed peppers and it was disgusting. Their food menu is one to be avoided!

Yelp
The vibe at this place is ELECTRIC. I was amped to see such a big and well curated cider list. Small menu but it is shockingly well executed.

Alec H.

Yelp
A beautiful space rounded out with unique beverage offerings and a fun menu of equally unique small plates. I went with four friends and we ordered one of each of the menu options. The standouts for us were the Anchovies, the Deviled Egg (got reordered several times over) and the Stuffed Peppers. We also had the Meat and the Seafood Paella. Both were nice sharable options, even between five people (Granted this was at the tail end of eating through the entire pintxos menu). What was most exciting to me about the dishes was that it kept being brought up how well paired to the beverages they were. Clearly a lot of thought went into doing so. Not every dish on the menu was a home run for everyone at the table but, overall, we were very happy, quite full and decided the menu complimented the space very well. It seems like some of the other reviews here may have been posted by folks that had a very different expectation of what would be offered at Anoche. We spent three hours there that night and it felt to me we were gathered at a (very talented) friends home somewhere very far away. All in, we spent $340 (after tip) between the five of us, ate and drank everything and are excited to go back.
