From Old World reds and whites and sparkling wines to pet nats and natural wines, this shop carries it all. Ansley Wine Merchants also sells liquor, beer, sake, and non-alcoholic beverages, too. Have been coming here for years. I can honestly say I’ve never bought a bad bottle of wine here, and they put serious thought into what they sell. I buy tremendous wines here at very reasonable prices. The staff is also super knowledgeable and helpful. This a store you must check out in Atlanta IMO. Thanks, y’all!

Google
I stopped by Ansley Wine Merchants looking for a rum that I have yet to find. According to the on-duty clerk, they had never carried the rum that I was looking for. They did however have a number of the spirits that I buy from time to time. I plan to stop by again when I need wine or spirits.

Called into the store and whoever picked up the phone was annoyed and ended up hanging up on me. This was extremely rude and unprofessional. Do better.

I don't know much about wine, but I wanted to get a nice red for my brother for Christmas. The high reviews for Ansley Wine speak for themselves, and I was not disappointed. The staff there was helpful from the floor where I was given great recommendations in my requested price range to the checkout desk where I was offered free gift wrapping. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Surprisingly, I was put on to this place by an employee at Green's Package Store after I went in looking for what I discovered is a rare wine. When I called up Ansley Wine Merchants, I spoke to the kindest woman on the phone who promptly checked to see if they carried it. When she discovered that they didn't carry it, she offered to order it. I hesitated because I didn't need a case of the stuff. But here's why they get 5 stars... they let me order 2 bottles of wine y'all! Just a few days later, it came in and I got to enjoy my wine that weekend. Going into the store for the first time, I felt right at home. Everyone was so relaxed. There was not one shred of pretentiousness in there. Seriously, these people are the nicest. The selection is awesome and the prices are what you'd expect.

Google
What a perfect selection of everything!! They have it all from an inexpensive bottle of wine, to the premium bottle for the wine connoisseur, as well as liquor, beer. Any time I am in there I was always greeted with a warm welcome and asked if I need help finding a particular brand. The last time I was in there they were able to help me select a wonderful wine for dinner. I truly appreciate customer service from each staff member. Plus they are happy to place an order for you.

Google
The best merchant in ATL! The staff are very knowledgeable and super friendly; they make great recommendations. I once came in to Ansley completely distraught, exclaiming that I intended to eat cheese and cheese alone for dinner. One of the employees walked through my (quite substantial) cheese list with me and described what characteristics a good wine pairing would have! He picked the perfect wine for my drunken cheese adventure. Much happiness! They also have funny little meme cartoons on their labels to help guide your choice. 10/10 would cheese again.

Went to Ansley for help with my wedding's bar. Not only did they get me extremely quality libations for really good prices, they also made several very good suggestions and provided a ton of insight. They worked with me to make it a really wonderful experience. I absolutely cannot recommend them highly enough.

Yelp
Very cordial -- no pun intended. Looked to see if they had my request. They didn't but told me where I could find it. And, I did. Such nice customer service. I shop there and have always found them above and beyond.

Yelp
I brought a friend there to pick out a wine for her birthday. I was really shocked at how unhelpful and lazy the two people working there seemed. They were determined to remain parked behind the register (with no other customers in the store), and, honestly, there was a very package store vibe to the place. I shopped at this store years ago-- it's lost all excitement. A totally uninspiring place to buy an otherwise exciting product. I was embarrassed.

Yelp
Ansley Wine Merchants is a nice little liquor store in Ansley Mall. My fiancee regularly works and studies at the Panera Bread and Starbucks at Ansley Mall and that's how we found out about this place; it's located right in between. Despite living in Midtown since 2000 and having come to Ansley Mall multiple times, I never noticed this shop until my fiancee recommended it when we were looking to buy some wine as a gift for some friends. Ansley Wine Merchants has been in business since 1986 so they must be doing something right. This place was packed to the gills with wine from all over the world. We were looking for a good cava (Spanish sparkling wine) or white wine and asked one of the staff members, Janie, for assistance. We gave her an approximate price point and she guided us to all of the store's caves and white wines. She was helpful, provided suggestions, and it didn't take us long to find what we were looking for. We ended up going with a bottle of Suavia Massifitti Trebbiano (750 mL for $26.99). We had it with dinner the next day with our friends and everyone liked it. I thought it was great. It's described as having scents of stone fruit and white flower. We got free gift wrapping. The guy at the checkout counter, Brandon, wrapped the bottle in a glossy silver wrap and tied the neck with a silver bow. It looked nice.

Yelp
I didn't think it was possible, but this place has become even less friendly. My boyfriend visits about once every other week and the staff here never says hi and he has learned to not ask questions because the staff cannot be bothered to help customers. My boyfriend even recommended a bourbon to another customer since an employee had no idea how to help. A few weeks ago we spent about $150 on a gift for a friend and a few bottles of wine for ourselves. Luckily my boyfriend knows about bourbon and was able to select a bottle for our friend because we already know the staff would not be interested in helping. When we asked for a box (to carry four bottles), the employee questioned why but eventually gave us a box. Today he visited and there were four people working at the counter and not a single person said a word to him. This place knows there are not many options close by so they can continue not being friendly to customers and it won't affect their business.

Yelp
I've passed by this shop many times but have never been in. I was in the plaza and decided to pop by and check if they had this specific wine I've been looking for. I love that they are taking covid-19 seriously and have converted their small shop into a contactless operation via pick up window. Walking up, there are X's taped on the floor outside spaced 6 feet apart to mark where to stand in line. I was 3rd in line and it moved quickly. They seem to have a good selection of wines, beers, liquors and mixers based on what the people before me were getting. When it was my turn at the window, I showed the gentleman a picture of the wine I was looking for and he said they did have it! I had checked around before at several other bigger liquor stores with no luck, so I was stoked! There was plexiglass covering most of the window with space at the bottom and a card reader for you to complete your own payment. I didn't have to touch anything other than my own ID and card. So quick and easy! I will definitely be back for more bottles of Pipeño and more!

Yelp
Great location! They have a very unique selection of wine and spirits! And they sell my favorite tequila - La Gritona!

Yelp
Do you ever feel like you're on vacation in your own city? Ansley Wine Merchants gave me that exact feeling when I walked in on a Monday evening. It was a gem I didn't expect, but am so glad that I found. I came out of curiosity and to kill some time after dropping off a friend. I intended to buy a Garnacha and was so blown away by their wine selection. It did take me a little bit of wandering to find what I wanted, but I enjoyed every second of walking around the store. There are funny descriptions, comics, jokes, and quips hidden on every shelf. The prices were also extremely reasonable and the variety of wine diverse. I did find my Garnacha and only paid $7.99. I'll definitely be back next time I'm looking for a wine store that's going to make me feel like I've walked into a different world and gives me the chance to stumble onto something new in the world of wine.

Yelp
Avoid any place that still enforces face diapers when you've been vaccinated. When asked what the point of a mask is if you've received a vaccine, the mumbled reply was: You still have to wear one. Pathetic and sad.

Yelp
Went here this morning searching for a decent Pinot noir at a decent price after a disappointing trip to Total Wine. Immediately ran into Amber who asked my price point and what was I Iooking for. Turns out she's an Oregon and Burgundian wine geek. Had nice selection of Oregon Pinots and some nice burgundies. Had not seen Omero Pinot in the east. Picked up a 2013 Michelot Bourgogne and a Calista Pinot from The Coast Range. Amber told me about a hot air ballon ride she went on at domaine droughin at 6:30 am last year at the winery. It was so close to my cousin's house and we wasted a ride to Total Wine, which was totally disappointing. Support your Independents!

Yelp
My booze shopping doesn't take me over to Ansley much but it's always a positive when it does. They're wine merchants, but they have a fairly good selection beer, too. I recall they jumped right into the Belgian high-gravity scene when the law changed back whenever it was, and they still carry a lot of hi-grav beers. These days, I'm usually looking for something a tad less alcoholic. This visit they had the new Saison Dupont dry-hopped bottle and 4-pack of canned (my preferred beer container) Eviltwin Falco IPA, something I'd not seen before. Saison Dupont is perhaps a top five beer for me, and I always love a good IPA. So I'm looking forward to drinking those two. But Ansley is mostly about the wine, of course. When I do shop Ansley for wine (which has admittedly been years), I appreciate the sassy signage. It actually helps this wine-ignorant schmuck make a selection. One thing, though - they don't sell the small boxed wine, only the larger boxes. Yeah, I know - boxed wine. Always good service and always a parking space available nearby.

Kevin X.

Yelp
We have been customers of Ansley Wine Merchants for over 25 years. They have always been honest, friendly (but not annoying so), and unpretentious. The place is exactly what we could want in a neighborhood beverage store.

Yelp
"The Germans are geniuses when it comes to beer. But, no one knows bourbon like the US of A." -- Agent Carter: Season 1, Episode 5 I love a good liquor store where the staff is friendly and knowledgable. Ansley is just that. The staff is great and can direct you to anything you need and if they don't have what you need, they can direct you to a great alternative. Their wine selection is vast and varied - thus the name, but they have a pretty stellar selection of bourbon, rye, scotch, bitters and enough beer to get you through. What I like most about the staff is that in their helpfulness, they aren't at all snobby or pretentious. If you want to spend $10 on a bottle of wine, they will direct you to the best $10 bottle of wine they've got. They also offer discounts on mixed cases - a major plus. I do appreciate that they keep cider in the cold case - so when I need some cold Strongbow - they've got it chilled and ready. Plus, a great selection of just about anything when I need a last minute gift for someone. Everything from mainstream liquors to small batch favorites. One stop shop for all your alcoholic needs.

Yelp
Great selection of wine (and other stuff too!) with something at every price point! The staff at Ansley Wine Merchants is so helpful in making recommendations when I explain what I'm looking for and always makes any visit a great experience. My favorite part about Ansley Wine Merchants is definitely the puns and recommendations attached to many of the bottles -- I could spend a lot of time walking around reading all of them. Definitely an added treat!

Austin Y.

Yelp
Awesome staff, awesome selection. Great prices and great decor. If you are looking for the regular stuff or the harder to find stuff this is your one stop shop. No more searching all over the city for my favorite brands of wine, vermouth, or whatever else I keep in my at home bar.

Scott M.

Yelp
Damn, so its come down to me writing reviews about Liquor stores...sigh. A sad, sad life...until you find cool azz liquor store, with fantastic prices, and realize that the damn boutique liquor store within walking distance from your house has been overcharging you for Ketel One, and everything else you drink for the past 6 months....I digress...(slowly gets off of soap box)... I love this spot. Cheap liquor, great selection, and well organized. Although there was only one clerk in the store at around 11am (Why am i at a liquor store at 11am---dont worry about it shawty, I just am), the service was friendly and fantastic, and he was extremely helpful in helping me find everything I needed. One of the best liquor stores in the A...hands down.

Ermon S.

Yelp
Went to Ansley Wine Merchants on Sunday November 2nd, and I don't know if the older male clerk had a bad day or night before, but he was absolutely rude and dismissive. For the record, he was wearing an orange shirt, had a salt and pepper gray beard. I went to this particular store because I've been there before to buy wine for dinner parties or as gifts for friends and the service has always been stellar. NOT TODAY. I asked about the wine I was looking for, I got a short, cold NO. Nor did he ask any questions to find out if there was something comparable that he could even try to sell me. I was in more than a buying mood. I've always been taught not to beg anyone to take your money, believe me I have never been treated with such utter and blatant disrespect, however, I won't give up on Ansley Wine Merchants because my past dealings with them have been great. I do recommend some sales training for the gentleman (and I use that word loosely) in question. His attitude was deplorable. And that one star was being gracious.

Yelp
Ansley Wine Merchants is a great place to have in midtown Atlanta. The very knowledgeable employees are happy to offer suggestions based on your personal taste and/or price range. In addition to their cool and eclectic wines, they also have a nice selection of single malt scotches. If you have time to browse, you will be rewarded, but you can also get in and out of the store in a flash if you know what you need. Bring cash for a discount!

Tiffany J.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Not only do they have a great selection of delicious wines and liquors, but they have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff always eager to help you with a selection. This place has the kind of unique charm that makes me never want give my money to anyone else. When you first walk in the store, you are greeted immediately but the staff are not overbearing or pushy about purchases. They have a "best cheap" section near the front and I am constantly filling my little wine fridge with 10-15$ bottles that taste like 30-50$ bottles. They also have "staff favorite" stickers on certain bottles and I've found those to be amazing as well. Such a great store for both people who know what they want and people who aren't sure. Just can't recommend this place highly enough! I am fairly knowledgeable about wines and am frequently pleasantly surprised when a suggestion is made for me so perfectly. My boyfriend and I have been giving this store our business for about two years now and yesterday we had such a lovely experience again that I just had to come on yelp and share it! My boyfriend and I were having some friends of ours over for dinner. I told him to go get a California Cab to go with our pot roast. He went and asked one of the staff here for something that would go well with his sea-salt thyme rubbed pot roast. He came home with a $13 bottle of Paso Robles Cab that paired PERFECTLY with our dinner. The spices of the pot roast blended superbly with the wine! Such a great place! Can't recommend highly enough!

Yelp
My leasing office is just down the street on Monroe, and I was reminded of this cool little store when dropping off my rent check (or maybe paying up made me want a drink, who knows!). I love browsing in Ansley Wine Merchants mainly because of all the clever little signs they tag on the wine bottles. Some are very descriptive, others just funny, but all are always entertaining. The staff is very nice and for a non-supersized store, they have a great wine selection and solid liquor one. Lots of good wines under $20, even under $15, as well as higher-end picks. I used to go to the Chastain Wine Merchants (their former sister store) when I lived near it, but since its replacement have to come down to Ansley Mall to get my wine-with-humor fix!

Travis N.

Yelp
Good wine, good bargains, a no frills vino-shop where the clerks know what they are talking about. Now this is not a super Wal-Mart of alcohol where they will have every kind of dutch-chocolate-Albino-Pear-Cumin schnapps, but if your looking for a good mix of red, white and bubbly this is my favorite place. I have kitted out many a party from here, and have burnished my sommelier cred thanks to Ansley. (perhaps I've said too much!)

Emma F.

Yelp
Super disappointed. I am a huge fan o the Spanish wines. It may be "so last year" or whatever you crazy hipsters wanna call it, but I like it, and I was drinking it before it became cool and now obviously after it is no longer cool. I had heard that Ansley had a large selection of the Spanish wines as according to them "They started the trend" (not sure I agree but hey, that's what they told me). Anyway, I went in and they had a whopping 8-10 bottles. I am not kidding, that's it. Why would you hang a Spanish flag in your store which is larger than your entire Spanish selection? As far as service they were nice but when the sales rep saw I was disappointed she could have pointed me to some similar wines and used this opportunity to help me broaden my drinking horizons (I do like Washington wines as well) but overall she just said sorry we disappointed and waled away. Ok... next. Sadly, I actually found more selection and better advice at Whole Foods. Not to bash Whole Foods, but that's just sad for Ansley. I really just left feeling like I had visited a poorly stocked BevMo. I won't be back.

Yelp
Drove across town to Ansley Wine yesterday on the recommendation of a friend who's fallen in love with a wine they (supposedly) carry. When I entered the store their was nary an employee to be seen* and a man having a very loud convo on his cell phone in the front corner of the store. Finally an employee emerges from the rear of the store, apparently irritated; at what, I don't know. I ask "Do you have Saint Bris?" He says:, (apparently still irritated) "No, I don't think so." "Really, I say?" "A friend buys it regularly from here" He says: "Nope." I start looking, so then he does as well (continues to be obviously irritated). All the while the guy in the front continues to gab-on loudly on his mobile. Finally irritated- employee-guy interrupts loud-talking-cell-phone-guy to say: "Do we have Saint Bris?" Loud-talking-cell-phone-guy also seems irritated. "No!" Hilarious: Who knew loud-talking-cell-phone-guy worked there, let alone was in charge on some level? Anyway, never found the wine. Friend says: ask for Amber or Katie next time. I say: probably won't be a next time.

Yelp
over this past holiday season i worked at Ansley part-time. i learned so much about wine. Jim (the owner) is an incredibly knowledgeable wine dude. really knows his shit. you won't find a more unpretentious wine store anywhere in atlanta. prices are great and you'll no doubt come into contact with wines you've never even considered or seen before. this is the way a wine store should be. low key, approachable, reasonably priced and with knowledgeable staff who are genuinely interested in your experience. the staff are generally really nice. if i were you, id' seek Adam or Debbie for help. Adam really knows his Australian and German (Rieslings) very well and will guide you through some other great explorations. Jim (the owner) is the king of Burgundy in Atlanta. He also knows German Riesling like his own children. Most of all, i find that their dedication to South American and Spanish wines to be the most impressive. This is where the best values in the wine world are right now. Amazing options. Argentina, Chile, Spain, Portugal etc. Ask for some Rutini Cab or malbec. or some Norton Cab. fantastic stuff. Say hello to Waka, another Dekalb Farmer's Market migrant.

Yelp
New to town and finding my way around. I found my favorite wine store though. Great selection! Really Nice staff. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable! The store is fun. A dog that greets you! Great Music! POS that are entertaining and useful. Check the place out . You won't be disappointed

lenore c.

Yelp
I really want to love this place, mainly because I live so close by, and especially now that they finally accept Amex cards, but it's not the friendliest of shops and it looks a bit chaotic. The selection of chardonnay is so limited that I find Publix has more choices. The problem might be because they have a a whole lot of liquor for sale and that takes up the bulk of their space. It disappoints me every time I stop in.

Louis M.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite store in Atlanta. Not just liquor store, but favorite overall store. The staff is incredibly nice, and treat you like a civilized human being. Coming here is always a pleasure. Do they have everything? No. Do they have everything you probably need? Yes. The beer selection is small but curated. They've chosen a handful of breweries they like and then have a few offerings from each brewery. The liquor selection is good with both the cheap stuff, and some more obscure high end bottles. And you don't even have to walk past the cheap section for wine. They'll have multiple under $10 wines that taste better than twice their price.

Gabriela L.

Yelp
Extremely rude. I called to ask about a product and they said they have it but they only save it for "regulars". I asked how do I become a "regular" and they said I have to shop there often... I won't shop somewhere often if they refuse to sell me what I'm shopping for. Counterintuitive customer service. Thanks for being so unpleasant, see you at Green's!

Sarah S.

Yelp
My partner and I love Ansley Wine Merchants. Their beer selection is not extensive (but good), but we go here because we like the atmosphere. I love the little signs and cards they put on the wines... they're funny AND informative! Big plus... they're dog friendly! We take our pup here all the time and they always give her a treat. She loves AWM too!

Justin B.

Yelp
Do you like Wine? Go to Ansley... and I'm not just talking about expensive wine. They have it all here, and they will help you find exactly what you want in your budget. Sure, you might pay a buck less at Kroger or some other liquor store... but this store has a staff that will help you one-on-one and find something in your budget that will knock your socks off. And that cheap bottle at Kroger will probably be piss anyway. It happens to me every time :)

Randy P.

Yelp
This is truly what being a small business is about. They are incredibly knowledgable and personable. The entire staff is both attentive and professional. If I am looking for something new or a tried a true favorite, they folks at AWM are truly the best. Looking to try something new, ask them about their selection of bitters and how they can make your next drink something special. (Btw yes I am a fan, what can I say.)

B G.

Yelp
The best way to buy wine is from a great local shop that you know and trust, and Ansley Wine Merchants is exactly that. I'm so thankful to have found this place. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products. They've given intelligent recommendations on many occasions. I love that they have many affordable wines (as well as pricier options if you want them). The wines I've purchased here have been fantastic too. It's not just the same old big brands - they pick unique and special wines, so every time I buy something from here I really feel that it's been vetted by the fantastic staff. Haven't been disappointed yet. Keep up the great work!

Bo K.

Yelp
When in search of something special or hard to find in Atlanta, Ansley Wine is your one stop shop. From beer, to wine and champagne, rounded out with their INCREDIBLE whisk(e)y selection. I happened to be in when they got the first release of Whistlepig 15 year 100% rye and WOW, I dont even think the VWFRR can top this one. Do not go anywhere else in Atlanta or you will be missing out. And you cant forget the staff, they are the best in the business!

Kathryn J.

Yelp
Wonderful selection and amazing customer service. Prices are extremely good. Adam helped me to pick out a case worth of bottles and then carried the case to my car, which I had parked about a mile away. Okay, maybe not a mile, but I certainly didn't make it easy on him. Great store.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Great selection and prices with lots of expertise to help guide you in making choices. Their prices are competitive with big box and grocery store prices. Adding their knowledge and discount on cases makes it a no-brainer. Highly recommend getting to know the staff. There will be a couple that will just "get you" and your taste. They all rock with wine and food pairings. Many times they may consult with each other to help make a selection. I usually buy wine, but they have a great selection of bourbon when I'm in that market too.

Matt P.

Yelp
I went in to purchase several bottles of wine and liquor with my girlfriend on our way to a party and asked for a box so that it would be easier to carry. The gentleman behind the counter seemed to snarl at the idea of such a question. After ringing up my $200 plus order, he pointed to a box he had pulled, so I went and retrieved it off the ground. I tried to fit the bottles in the box provided and it didn't fit in the divider because the Patron is short and fat and the Vueve is slightly larger than normal as well. So I took the insert divider out on the counter and placed my bottles (btw I'm having to package this on my own) in the box and went on my way. The man started yelling furiously at us that we "left trash" on his counter. Avoiding an altercation, I set the box down - went back and grabbed the divider and left without saying another word. I'd like to go ahead and put this out here - I've been in medical sales for 10 years and my girlfriend is a Falcons cheerleader. We are both in the "servicing" industry and respect people above and beyond before we dare put someone out. This was absolutely the worst service in Atlanta that I have received in the 4 years I've been here. Here I am buying products FROM you and you treat us like you haven't got the time. Also to note, we were the only ones in the store at the time and it was the afternoon. We all have bad days but this wasn't that- this was flat out disrespect. Sadly, I pass by this place everyday for my gym and I'm daily regular at Sean Doty's Bantham and Biddy. Seeing some of the other reviews here makes me believe this isn't a one time occurrence but rather a norm. We will gladly drive elsewhere for our party supplies and I'll never step foot in this place again.

Rick F.

Yelp
Love this place, every time I walk in. They are excited to see you, they even remember me! I ask for suggestions and every time they are perfect.Always have a great selection, great prices, amazing sales! I love the little comment cards on the top of bottles that really demonstrate the unique and fun personality the owners have put into the place. I'm a fan and urge people to check this place out you will not be disappointed! Guaranteed

Yelp
The first time I went into Ansley Wine Merchants was a few years ago. When I asked where the Beaujolais Nouveau was, I was sort of mocked and informed that they might have other options I'd like because Beaujolais Nouveau "sort of just tastes like grape juice". I was aware of this already, and I do like other wine, but it was that Beaujolais Nouveau time of year and it's cheap and it's fun and it comes in pretty bottles and I still wanted one. I was eventually directed to the Beaujolais Nouveau and I bought it, went home, and happily drank it while looking at my Christmas lights. However, I definitely left the store with the impression that it was a pretentious place and not one I wished to frequent. Fast forward a few years to my next visit. Enough people I knew loved this place that I decided to give it a second chance. I had been to a wine tasting of Spanish whites and I decided to see what the Ansley Wine Merchants had to offer. When I entered the store, I perused the section right by the door which has really good bargains. I was impressed. Then I was approached by the same person who had helped me years earlier who asked if he could help me find something. I was worried, but I told him what I was looking for. And, he didn't mock me! He instead showed me a whole bunch of different options many of which were spectacular values (3.99 and 4.99 even). Things were going so well that I asked about another wine and was again shown some great options and some good values (he pointed out that for this particular wine, price and quality do not always go hand in hand. I left the store having purchased a whole case of mixed bottles (I am a sucker for the case discount - I love a deal). Every visit since then has been pretty much the same. I have had other people helping me but have always received good advice and information. They seem to really enjoy helping customers find something they will like. I love the store because it is not fancy and is absolutely full of wines - it's fun to dig around a bit. It is one of my regular wine stores but I do have to be careful not to go too often because I always leave with a case!

Yelp
This is the best wine shop! Employees are so helpful and knowledgeable and their little notes are so cute. I have found so many impressive bottles of wine here! Happy customer.

Yelp
I came in here because I was buying take out at King and I, and I suddenly remembered: "I hate this place!" The staff is what makes it truly horrible. They are wierd, impertinent, rude, unfriendly (well, to me), badly attired, always eating something smelly, freakish but not in a good way, and very bad at serving you especially if they are busy with whatever. Even the music is annoying. The beer selection is poor and its expensive. An awful awful place that should have been closed down in the 70's, which is the era it most reminds me of. Why didnt I just walk down to Publix?

Yelp
I would live here if I could. Seriously. Best wine selection and price range in town. I come here at least once a week, if not more, to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner or a friend. Whether you're looking to spend a little or a lot they have got the bottle of wine for you. Ansley has put forth a lot of effort to come up with fun and quippy signs for a lot of their selection - and honestly a lot of times I buy the wine by the quality of their one liner joke. I've never been disappointed! The staff is some of the most knowledgeable in town and super friendly. They're down to earth and aren't snobby about how much you want to spend on a bottle of wine. I'll go in there and tell them I need a bottle of wine for a barbecue at a friend's house who has no taste in wine and I only want to spend $15 and the staff will hand me a bottle and I know I'll love it. You can't ask for better service than that. Go here, you'll be so happy you did!

Yelp
This place is a true gem in Atlanta. Why? Let me count the ways.... 1. One of the best international wine selections in the city... and it all fits in a nice, manageably-sized store. You will be hard pressed to find a better selection, or more knowledgeable people for wines from France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Argentina. 2. A surprisingly-large and sophisticated beer and artisanal liquor selection. If you're looking for cheap schnapps in mango-mint flavor, this is not the place, but if you want hard-to-find small-batch bourbon, rum, gin, vodka, or scotch, Janie knows her stuff and keeps and excellent selection. Ask Adam about any beer in the joint and be prepared for a very helpful and informative discussion about the taste, the brewery, and some great alternatives. 3. The signs! Instead of just stocking big-name brands (e.g., Gallo, Constellation), Ansley takes the time to taste and describe the wine in fun and irreverent ways. Where else will you find a large "El cheap but good-o" section? The signs are creative, made in-house, and make wine shopping fun and completely non-threatening. 4. The staff. The team is really into wine... especially if you catch them on Saturdays, when they are all in and ready to help. Ask Amber about her latest trip to Argentina (and about the wines she tried), ask Michelle about Burgundies and their amazing selection of grower Champagnes, and have some fun along the way... they are 100% unpretentious, but damn, they know what they're talking about. 5. The prices. Don't assume that smaller shop = higher prices. To a bottle they match or beat Publix (granted, not much overlap since Publix focuses on mass brands) and Kroger, and unlike those stores, you can get a case discount. More importantly, instead of steering you to cheaply-made plonk from the Central Valley, they will offer you wine at the same price that has personality and real flavor. 5. The mailing list and wine club. Ansley sells a lot via its e mail list, and not just high priced collectors' wines. You can get some real steals from them by simply replying to the e mail and picking it up in the store... Moreover, once you work with them and they get to know your taste, they will even pro-actively mention wine, beer, or liquor that you should try. I think you get my point. Wine/beer/liquor shopping should be fun, unpretentious, and full of adventure. Ansley offers all of that and more. Try it out, enjoy the vibe, and discover a new love for the really good stuff!

Yelp
I'm repeating what Hardy W. said, "it's my favorite wine shop in ATL." A small, high quality wine shop that stocks most of what you really need. I hate the kroger sized, carousel turn stiles, with the security guard(s), and wide checkout counter mega-liquor marts teeming with customers that have red glowing in their frenzied eyes. Ansley is quiet, quaint, convenient, and staffed by knowledgeable and helpful people. Plus, I love the small signs providing factual and opinionated news about the wines they carry. They sell all the spirits and wines you really need to stock your bar and cellar.

Yelp
I have been away from yelp for a while. Now that I've got the app on my phone, I'm on the upgrades..I really appreciate the owner of the Ansley Wine Merchant got rid of that woman and gave me a written apology. I've been back shopping there again.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Ansley Wine Merchants. I don't live in Atlanta but I travel a lot for work all over the Southeast. I like to stop in different liquor stores whenever possible to check for hard to find bourbons. I love sipping fine bourbons. They had an excellent selection. The staff was super friendly and knew their stuff. After our bourbon chat, the owner said, "I have a bottle of something that hasn't been put out yet, and I think you might like it ." She was right. It was one that I had been searching for!!! Another thing is the prices are great. Best liquor prices that I have seen anywhere!!! I will be back everytime I am in the ATL!

Yelp
We really need to support our local mom and pop shops. I have been shopping here for 22 years. They always have good suggestions for you. Just find an employee tell them what you are having for dinner and they will give you one or two wines to pair with that dish.

Yelp
I love coming to Ansley Wine Merchants if I have time to browse and pick out a case of wine. The employee-written signs on the wine are funny and usually right on (e.g., "good shit in a blue bottle," "goes great with oysters"). Between the signs and the friendly, helpful staff, I can pick out a mixed case of new-to-me, interesting wines in the $8-$15 range (of course you can get the expensive stuff too...). You get a 10% case discount if you pay with cash or a check and the nice boys will carry your wine to you car for you:)

Yelp
I have lived in Midtown for three years now and still haven't found a better spot to venture through the canals of Italy or the hills of France, and yet with all that fanciness they still manage to quench my incredible thirst. Forget the options Kroger has -- shopping for groceries and wine in the same place should be left to the Italians -- shop at Ansley wine for the best prices and the plethora of options.

Yelp
I really miss this wine store. I have found an excellent one here in LA, but the people working at Ansley Wine Merchants really make this place special. Any of the employees can recommend some good vino for you.. even if you are a cheap ass like me. They have some damn good wine for super cheap. Their mascot Jack is always running around chasing balls and it's just a fun place to go get your booze for the night.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. They have a great selection of wines you've probably haven't seen before and they have something for every price point. But what really makes the place special, are the descriptions they give each bottle of wine. The staff has tried everything in the store and he's written up clever, well informed, and hilarious descriptions of each one. They also have a great selection of liquor and specialty mixers for cocktails.

Yelp
Amazing selection, and great prices. Ask for Amber or Adam, they know a TON about wine and help you out without being pretentious at all. Love these guys, have shopped here for years and they've always given outstanding service and good conversation.
