Best Restaurants in Oxford | Where to Eat on a Day Trip to Oxford | Eater London

"Walk down the Cowley Road and be rewarded with this smart Turkish restaurant, which has the deserved reputation for serving utterly enormous portions of ocakbasi staples; the yogurtlu adana, minced lamb grilled on skewers and served in a yoghurt sauce, is the stuff of fables. Don’t be tempted to over-order; there is no way that anyone with a normal-sized appetite needs more than one main dish here." - Alexander Larman

Our waiter was amazing! Super attentive, polite and good fun! They really looked after the kids, made them laugh by bringing a plate out with smiley face in sauce! And lollies when they finished dinner. Food was absolutely delicious & fresh. Highly recommended

We came all the way from Reading having chosen this lovely Turkish restaurant and didn't have any regret when tasting that deliciousness. We went 4 people for a lovely lunch and enjoyed thoroughly. The experience was phenomenal, from welcoming staff, to quality and quantity of food did not disappoint at all. We got started off with this lovely pita bread on the house with delicious garlicky spread which reminded me of what we eat in Macedonia. We chose the Mixed Hot Meze, Pan prawns, Sucuklu Pide, Sharing platter for 2-3 people and even though it's served with lovely leefy green salad with pomegranate seeds, we couldn't resist and not order additional Greek salad. For the cherry on top we had to choose Baklava from which you could taste the freshness and being made with love. Ended up paying £140 which seems absolutely affordable for 4 people. Thank you so much Antep Kitchen for this amazing experience and we are looking forward to coming and trying your other specials. Lots of love xx

Exceptional quality Turkish food. I can see why it is popular now. They offer the traditional Turkish balloon bread too and everything was prepared freshly. The service was very good too. Would highly recommend.

This is hands down the best Turkish food in Oxford. Every time I’m in the area, I make sure to stop by—it’s become my absolute go-to place. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the perfectly grilled meats to the rich mezes and freshly baked bread, everything is full of authentic taste. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, whether you’re dining alone or with friends. If you’re looking for a place that delivers both quality and hospitality, I highly recommend this gem!💎

The quality and freshness of the food here is worth noting. I've never enjoyed ribs before, but their lamb ribs were gorgeous - not overly fatty and just perfectly cooked. The lahmacun was decent, and the sucuk was excellent. The falafel and kısır were a bit experimental, and were interesting - I'm a bit undecided if I'd order again but I did enjoy them. Overall, the service, the atmosphere and general feel of the place was great, and the prices are shockingly reasonable. I'd highly recommend it to others.

What a 5 star experience we just had! We ordered the 2 course lunch express deal for £14.95 with a soda drink per person and wow the amount of food we received was great. We received complimentary bread and sauces which was nice to start with, for starters we ordered the lahmacun and a meatballs dish, both was delicious. For mains we ordered the lamb kofte and the chicken wings with rice and chips on the side. The chicken wings was so flavoursome and the lamb kofta was nice too. Also the service from our waiter Nazif was top class, very friendly, attentive and helped us with any queries. A 5 star experience for sure.

I decided to have my birthday dinner at Antep kitchen Cowley, Oxford. I was greeted with friendly welcome, and the attitude of the every person present was happy and cheerful! I am a vegetarian, and being vegetarian I only have particular options to choose from, as I was there for the first time, I was feeling a bit skeptical about food and particularly how it would taste, but to my surprise the food was great, delicious even and portion size was really fulfilling. They offer complimentary Turkish bread with authentic dips as well. For anyone- who are vegetarian or would want to try out vegetarian options there, I ordered Veggie kebab and Veggie Güvec(veggie Casserole). The flavours are absolutely fantastic, balanced and compliments the taste and was not overpowering to eat, and somehow it was refreshing. For deserts, I ordered Baklava- in 1 portion there are 3 pieces of baklava and a scoop of ice cream. Again, the best Baklava I ever had. Would recommend 10/10

Yelp
Great Turkish grill. Started with the meatballs, nice flavors, very large portion. Only issue is they forgot it and brought after the mains (once I asked). Mixed hebab grill main was fantastic. Tender and flavorful chicken kebab, lamb as good or better. Nice, large portion. Great food.

Yelp
I'm from Canada and we have many Middle Eastern restaurants where I live. But I can honestly say Antep is the gold standard. Amazing depth of flavors, meat so tender and tasty, amazing staff and food service. Not sure when I'll be back in Oxford but should I be so fortunate, I'll definitely visit Antep again.

Yelp
Pide, Adana kofta, all great. I will take my Turkish relatives here. Only complaint is that it's loud, but I wasn't too bothered by this. Service was very attentive

Yelp
Oh my, the food here is just out of this world. Tender, juicy meat is the best I have had in a very long time. Complimentary freshly baked bread is super tasty, grilled meat is just delicious. Portions are huge, so yo wont leave hungry, that's for sure! Service is just excellent - fast and friendly. Now I understand why you have to wait to get in, but it's worth it! They also play funky music every time there is somebody's birthday, and give the birthday boy/girl a cake. While only in my presence they did it 3-4 times, I imagine how many times they had to do it over the day - but you can't tell it, cause every time the stuff are smiling.

Yelp
Excellent pick by our daughter-in-law for an early dinner while visiting in Oxford. The 2 1/2 mile walk from our hotel was well worth it. The staff was extremely courteous, efficient and friendly. Excellent menu selections and reasonably priced. The portions are very ample. The hummus as an appetizer was extremely tasty and delicious and the Turkish bread that accompanied it was excellent. The Mixed Shish consisted of very tender cubes of lamb and chicken with a nice charcoal flavor. The rice and salad that accompanied the dish were very well seasoned, plentiful and delicious. The grilled king prawns was delicious, A little messy for sure but well worth the work in cleaning the prawns. This dish was also served with flavorful rice and tasty salads. The bowl of lemon water provided to rinse off was very much appreciated. The restaurant itself was comfortable, clean and well organized. Again, the staff couldn't be friendlier and more attentive without being intrusive. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Excellent service, very attentive and polite staff. The food is authentic Turkish meals, decent size portions and very good tasting. Might be too noisy, not easy to keep conversation, but just the right place if you want some cheering up. I think there is live music too at certain time. Good for big companies.
