Just love the American breakfast here. This restaurant is located inside Marriot Marquee. The service is top-notch. We have tried their avocado toast, mushroom omlette, smoked salmon in the begal, hashbrown, and my all-time favorite egg Benedict on crab cake. All the food items are served in style and look visually appealing. I think the restaurant is a little bit on the expensive side, inside Marriott, so it's expected. I remember they served unlimited coffee and juice also.

I recently enjoyed breakfast at Anthem Restaurant located in the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C., and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant offers a spacious and elegant setting, making it perfect for starting the day on a positive note. The breakfast menu had a variety of options to choose from, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. The food was served quickly, well-prepared and delicious, with fresh ingredients. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to decent meal it was a little less personal than what you’d expect to get in a Marriott out of the city. I would still recommend Anthem Restaurant for a satisfying breakfast experience in the heart of the city that is super fast to help you get to meetings etc on a full belly…but $7 for coffee is silly.

Google
The main restaurant of the Marriott Marquis in Washington DC. The breakfast was great, the service outstanding and the Spanish Omelette very delicious. The staff was very kind, smiling and professional. The inside decoration and the lighting of the restaurant were also very successful. Definitely recommend it as well for dinner.

Google
Food was really good, but overpriced. Staff was very friendly. Great option if you want a convenient breakfast while staying at the Marriott. Can pay the bill at the table or charge it to your room. Would recommend.

Google
The food was great, and the service was good. For a hotel restaurant I was expecting higher prices, but the menu was very affordable. I needed to have a quick lunch with a colleague and then get to the airport, and the fast service and convenient location were exactly what I needed-- and Anthem did that with without sacrificing quality or gouging my wallet. The atmosphere was good too - very easy to have a conversation when when the restaurant was full.

Google
The Anthem located inside the Marriott Marquis has very affordable prices. However the sitting arrangements could be better. The the way it is arranged you could be setting next to a total stranger. If you are comfortable with that then it's ok. But over all a good restaurant with good food selections

Google
This is where we had breakfast while staying at the Marriott Marquis. Breakfast sandwich with hash browns was amazing! The hostess was friendly and servers were attentive. We were disappointed with the hotel service but had a great experience here.

Google
The Anthem has good seats and wonderful acoustic. But parking and walking to venue can be daunting and crowded.

Yelp
Came here to use up my Marriott destination fee $35 credit before checking out. The service was friendly and quick and I was able to get the Chicken Tenders and the Kale Salad within the credit amount (tip was a bit extra). The restaurant is attached to the greater Marriott Marquis at the convention center and certainly serves a utility function; the booths are fine for a meal with colleagues, but I would not take an outside business meeting with a client here. The food was decent though the kale salad had approximately 0 kale leaves in it at all which I found hilarious. Still a tasty mix of spring greens/arugula.

Yelp
I went twice for breakfast and once for lunch (room service) during a convention. The service was great and the ambiance is what you would expect from a dinner. However, I'm not sure that it fits a Marriott Marquis attached to a convention center. The food was disappointing with burned bacon, burned toasts, greasy eggs, and cold soup.

Yelp
Good was tasty and quite fast service at lunch time. Menu isn't extensive but I found my food to be fresh and flavorful.

Yelp
We were really impressed with vibe and the ambiance. Unfortunately, service was slow, and prices were high. Food was hit or miss. I had the protein hash pork. The eggs and potatoes were delicious, but the protein was a bit too fatty and the spice was a bit much.

Yelp
We ordered 2 simple things and the restaurant wasn't crowded. After a half hour and no food we flagged down our server and she went and brought one of our 2 orders a little while later. It was a bowl of oatmeal. It took 30 minutes. So then one person had food and the other didn't. For 20 minutes with no explanation. The people around us were getting their food. 50 minutes after ordering, and after finding a server several times, they brought over the other order and it was wrong. It had to be completely redone. They covered the food in a sauce that the person asked them to omit when they ordered because they were allergic to it. Food allergies are no joke. The person had already waited an hour and still didn't have food they could eat and it ruined the meal for both people. They also cook their bacon in butter and could not make bacon for someone with a dairy allergy.

Yelp
Came here with my family for lunch on a Monday, and we had the restaurant to ourselves, although I'm sure it gets quite busy. The restaurant is by the entrance/front of the Marriott Marquis, so it's very convenient. Seating is spaced out and it's very comfortable to walk around inside. Food selection is pretty basic, but it arrived presentable and was palatable. My kale salad was mixed nicely and had good flavor. Service was good, very friendly; no complaints there.

Yelp
First time at the venue last night (Jungle) Great space! Great seats! Good food options! But For every 3 extremely nice staff you get a really surly/rude/inept/unintelligible staff member. I'm looking especially at you Box Office chick. Sorry to bother you with my questions since I'd never been there before. But Didn't let it ruin my evening.

Yelp
It was a nice casual atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant had the open kitchen concept where you can see them cooking the food. I got the short ribs entree with vegetables and crispy potatoes. The short ribs were ok as they were not very tender and needed more sauce. The two other colleagues had salmon dishes. They were both very satisfied and enjoyed their meal.

Yelp
I ordered the Avacado toast with the egg scrambled soft. The egg was done perfectly! Not many places do eggs scrambled soft very well. This chef was spot on tho. Overall it was a very tasty & satisfying breakfast. I also ordered a glass of tomato juice & it was huge. The service was friendly & quick. The restaurant was spotless.

Yelp
The staff is very rude. The lady who welcomed guest seemed to try to tell the guest to go away. Waited for more than 15 mins, but the waiter just ignored us. Food option is limited and most guests are one person party. Defiantly not a place to enjoy meal.
google avatar

Yelp
I got to-go breakfast here and though it was quite expensive and okay. The cappuccino wasn't filled properly and the muffin tasted kinda stale for $5.
google avatar

Tessie E.

Yelp
Enjoyed some champagne with a few co-workers. 6 of us fit on bench style seating towards the back of the restaurant. Quiet, minus us. The salmon bowl was tasty. Fresh, nicely seasoned. I ordered mine to go and added a little spice to it when I got home. But no complaints. If you're staying at the Marriott Marquis I would definitely check it out, very convenient.

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast during a convention, and even with being busy, I was seated quickly. Eating here as expected is not cheap, so instead of the buffet, I went with the All American breakfast. Food arrived in an average amount of time, and the orange juice they serve is surprisingly good. Overall, meal is very comparable to a Denny's including using shredded hash browns, except for the toast, which I would not recommend as it was dry and I could not tell what kind of bread they used. I'd probably go with the muffin option instead. Overall, if you don't feel like leaving the hotel/convention center to find food, this is a decent but not cheap option.

Yelp
I only had the opportunity to enjoy the breakfast and it was fantastic 3 mornings in a roll. The variety was great and satisfying. Loved the tabule salad and the hummus.

Yelp
This is located inside the Marriott Marquis, and I went here for breakfast with a large group for work. They don't take reservations for breakfast which is super odd in a hotel used primarily for conferences: there are lots of business meetings that happen before conferences start. There's a breakfast buffet, but you can also order off the menu. We were there for 25 minutes before anyone came to take our order, despite two people saying that our waiter would be right with us. I ordered tea three times before someone brought me a tea bag and a pot of hot water (which was never refilled or asked about). No one checked on us, and it was another long wait for the check. The food was fine and the menu had some great options, but I really can't recommend this place due to its incredibly slow service.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to stay within the hotel for breakfast and The Anthem did not disappoint!!! I had the Virginia ham and cheddar omelette with hash browns, the hash browns were crunchy on the outside soft not mushy on the inside.... YUM.. The pancakes were light and airy, overall a treat!! You pay a bit more for the convenience but thats to be expected. Wonderful for breakfast!

Yelp
An upscale, expensive dinner is what comes to mind after browsing the small lunch menu and selecting a few items. There was 3 of us we ordered two waters and a root beer float. Well, no float just root beer. The server looked at us odly when it was pointed out after he had served us. He came back with a mug of ice cream and a can of root beer. Not much of a lunch selection. Ordered the $15 turkey club sandwhich, which is huge and asked the server to please split it and bring an extra plate. To our pleasant surprise the order came out in two plates with fries on each plate. This I felt was a fair price to enjoy half a sandwhich of a sandwhich. Also, ordered the $8 lobster bisque that had caviar I believe on top. A bit fancy and unexpected as thats not said on the menu NOR was said by the server. Neither of us liked it I attached a picture to view. The crab cake sandwhich was also ordered at $18 and was told by me that it was really good and came with cole slaw and fries. Would i come back? No thanks

Yelp
I ordered a three egg ham and cheese omelet which comes with hash browns and toast. Honestly I could have gotten a better breakfast from a Denny's. And that is not saying much. The omelet was drenched in oil to the point you could see it on the plate and the hash browns were over cooked, just shy of burned.

Yelp
After an event nearby, we were invited to lunch at this restaurant nestled inside of a gorgeous hotel. The menu is one sided which doesn't leave you with many options, but still enough to choose from. Luckily, the choices they do have are solid ranging from duck quesadillas to salads with pickled produce. I liked the fact that there weren't as many options as it cut down on the time usually spent going back and forth with who works there about what's best on the menu. In need of some greens in my life, I chose the purple kale salad. I should provide you with a bit of insight and let you know that I usually scoff at the idea of a salad from a restaurant because I gravitate naturally towards things like French fries and burgers. So glad I switched it up this time around. My salad was great! Kale can often be bitter and even a little hard to the touch, but this was great. I'm assuming the kale had been massaged and then the flavor masked by that delicious vinaigrette which didn't have that overwhelming acidic taste that some vinaigrettes do. I had salmon added which was a pretty chunky and filling portion. The seasoning on the salmon was simple and the skin was cooked to an crisp...just the way I liked it. The salad also included butternut squash which is a new fave of mine. It provided the perfect balance to all the other flavors. To top it all off, it's a beautiful salad to look at. I'd Def go back !

Yelp
I loved having breakfast here. Now, it's not cheap, but the food is quality and the service was awesome. They were friendly and attentive. They answered all of my questions when I was ordering and they were fast when I needed something. My favorite breakfast was the "Washingtonian." A Crab benedict. LOVED IT!!!! I never left hungry! Overall, very clean and neat place. Even the breakfast buffet was clean and up kept. Nothing ever looked empty and everything was hot and tastey! Yes, when I am in town again, I will definitely go back!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my lunch here. My friend was staying at the hotel and we were pressed for time so this spot was perfect. The place wasn't crowded and the staff was incredibly friendly. Our server was very sweet and made great suggestions. I had the tuna nicoise. It was yummy. It's been years since i have had it so if you are a nicoise expert you can gauge if it was made perfectly. I will just say that I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the fries that my friend and I shared. I would like them to be a little crispier but that's just a personal preference. The atmosphere is great. The booths are huge. It is right by The convention center so it's conveniently located. The staff is awesome and accommodating. It is inside the Marriott so it can be good for business or meeting friends.

Yelp
The rice bowl is quite bad - it's not even half as good as chipotle and costs quite a bit more. The veggie burger was horrible. One bottle of water is $5. Are they serious!!!?? Their oatmeal breakfast is pretty okay - this is the only thing I would recommend to a friend at Athem.

Yelp
I liked the ambience of the Anthem but we went when restaurant had very few patrons and our server (who was filling up the condiments trays in empty tables around ours) took so long to get our order that another guest in the same situation had to go and ask her to take the orders. I had the ribs and pasta. It tasted ok but there were definitely more pasta than meat in the dish. Prices were moderate but i could not justify them for what we got. Then i asked for a hot tea. I got the mug, bag of tea and hot water, no spoon, no plate for the tea bag, and i had to look for the sweetener. I feel generous giving this restaurant three stars.

Yelp
The service was very good... however I tried the buffet breakfast... it is completely over priced... I had an omelet with potatoes, juice and coffee and it cost me $26.00 for the "adult buffet" tax was $2.60... so for 28.60 I had breakfast... the manager came over and talked to me... but was not open to changing the price... oh and did I say that as soon as I got seated with my food... they closed the buffet... and I'm staying in the hotel!!!

Ana M.

Yelp
I stopped here for breakfast after I checked out. To my surprise, they offered breakfast buffet as well as menu options. I chose the buffet and was glad I did! My waitress actually suggested it and said it was a better deal! The omelette chef made me his favorite omelette of crab, Swiss, onions, broccolini, tomatoes and scallions. Yum!!!! The staff is super friendly. I would definitely recommend you give it a try!

Yelp
Restaurant inside the Marriott Marquis - lovely location, and pricey as you'd expect. We had a breakfast meeting there during a conference and it was a great location and the food was good. Service was spot on. If you are willing to pay for convenience than this place is a win. We ordered off the menu, did not have the buffet. .... 5 of the 7 of us ordered the avocado-crab toast of which everyone raved. My eggs and hash browns were tasty and my colleague's omelette looked grreat.

Yelp
I have usually found the food at Marriotts to be of high quality, but not this one! I made one pass through the $22 buffet and didn't even finish much of my plate because it wasn't good enough to eat. The sausage was dry (and I'd tried to choose one that looked more moist), the scrambled eggs didn't seem real. There were two types of muffins, and both looked like the sort of shiny overly sweet varieties you can buy in a vending machine. I selected the banana nut muffin, and sure enough, it was shiny on the outside but too dry inside to be enjoyable. Overall, the buffet variety was minimal and very predictable. The two positives:a small fruity pastry and fresh orange juice. I also had a boxed lunch in this hotel, and again, the sandwich was bland, made with dry ciabatta.

Jo S.

Yelp
$30 for my breakfast this morning. They put A LOT of basil in my omelet. It was so overpowering that I could not finish it. The turkey sausage was tasty but overcooked and very dry. I should return it but I do not have time. Just realized they have a buffet but the waiter did not mention this when I sat down. On a positive note, the restaurant is clean and convenient if you are staying at the hotel.

Yelp
Stella on draft Good lunch options - clean upscale atmosphere and attentive service although not fast. The blue cheese wedge salad with chicken added was delicious. Several large delicious thick-cut pieces of bacon were served on top. Note the wedge is not a true iceberg wedge but it's still good.
google avatar

Dale H.

Yelp
Aoh Mah Ghod! After reading about the horrors of a previous reviewer's dry banana nut muffin, the unreal eggs, and that horrific sausage incident, I was just about ready to throw a match down onto those marble floors and watch the whole edifice go up in flames! Then I found myself there between classes during the 2015 American Dental Association national meeting seeking sustenance before I passed out. And it wasn't quite the horror show someone else claimed it to be. My husband and I got there for lunch. My husband ordered the lamb sandwich on pita bread. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. His lamb sandwich was wonderful. I grabbed a bite to confirm his claims, and it's true. I'd have ordered the lamb if I knew then what I know now. My salad was OK. I have no real complaints. The dressing was really good. The croutons were a bit sweet for my taste but ... *shrug* The grilled chicken was good. The service was fine. The atmosphere was kind of cool. The tables are a red composite material with glittery somethings mixed in. The red upholstered chairs are comfortable. The lighting is cool (see the website). I wouldn't make any special effort to go there, but if I ever found myself there again I wouldn't complain.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
I was very disappointed in the restaurant during my conference this week at Marriot Marquis. As soon as you sit down to have a $30 meal they are asking if you are done within 2 minutes. I hadn't even taken two bites of my meal. The food is lower than basic ingredients.
google avatar

Forrest T.

Yelp
A decent option inside the Marriott Marquis when all other restaurants in the area are closed. I tried their burger and thought it was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, though, and pretty expensive all other things considered. Couldn't complain about the portion size, and the bartender was pretty friendly and professional. I saw him whip up a few complicated cocktails for other customers and he seemed quite good at it. However, considering the spectacular DC restaurants within easy walking distance, both classic historic restaurants as well as newer trendy places with rising-star chefs, Anthem is probably plan B in most circumstances.
google avatar

Kerry Jo R.

Yelp
Not suprisingly, very very expensive. $74 for breakfast for 2 - french toast with hash browns and the "washingtonian" (crab benedict) with a side of bacon plus a few drinks. The eggs were cooked close to hard, so no runny egg. Everything on the benedict plate including the bacon was suer salty. Edible but not great. The french toast was ok. No idea how we managed to spend that much on breakfast without drinking. Will find other options next time.

Nancy P.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this delicious breakfast buffet. Most hotel restaurants don't have the best food but anthem had one of the best breakfasts I've had ! The made to order omelette was delicious. The fruit ,pancakes etc and everything was fresh and delicious. They have a big selection including hummus tabouli cheeses Highly recommend and the service was fast and friendly

Yelp
LO's omeletes are to die for. The guy has a great personality and just loves what he does. Thank you Lo.

Yelp
Oh how I wanted to love this restaurant. I have often wondered why Marriott never opened a real commemorative Hot Shoppes restaurant given how loved the chain was and still is in the Washington DC area but I guess Anthem is all we get. Unfortunately, Anthem completely misses the mark. As a big fan of Hot Shoppes I went out of my way to visit Anthem on my few days in Washington. I ordered the Orange Freeze and the MIghty Mo which was served with onion rings, all favorites in my youth. The Orange Freeze was good but not the same as I remembered; it was more creamy than icey. The Mightly Mo looked like a Mighty Mo and had the same smell I remembered but the taste was lacking. Moreover, the middle bread piece collapsed which pushed both meat patties together and the taste of the sauce and other components were lost and all that remained was the taste of two cheap hamburger patties. The onion rings were not the bread crumb battered onion rings of yesteryear but were like beer battered onion rings; ordinary and not at all appetizing. We couldn't leave without ordering a Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cake; what arrived looked exactly like the original but not nearly as good. The cake and ice cream seemed to be frozen together and pulled from the freezer just before serving. Simply put, the cake was hard as a rock and I could not even get a knife through it. The original at Hot Shoppes version was assembled when ordered. Only the ice cream was frozen and that had paper around it and the cake was fresh so the paper was removed from the ice cream and put between the two pieces of yellow cake, then hot fudge was put on all four corners so the whipped cream on top didn't slide off. I know this because I worked at Hot Shoppes in High School. The Hot Fudge Cake served at Anthem is a hard- hearted version of the original Hot Shoppes favorite but if you remember it fondly as I do it looks exactly the same but without the good taste; hot fudge and whipped cream were good anyway. Worse, this food is priced extremely higher than what you would expect to pay at a Hot Shoppes Restaurant. I realize some time has gone by but $17.00 for a Mightly Mo is a bit over the top. I loved Hot Shoppes but I would never return to Anthem. Marriott should open a real Hot Shoppes somewhere in either Washington, Maryland, or Virginia. Anthem completely fails in it's endeavor to bring back those treats we loved for so many years. On a good note on my flight out of BWI there was an Obrecki's in terminal B and their onion rings are exactly like the original Hot Shoppes onion rings which was a pleasant surprise. I do not think Obrecki's is affiliated with Marriott but their onion rings are the real deal.
