Had a lovely time starting off patio season with my friends at Anthony Jack's. They have a nice outdoor seating spot with an awning. The service was phenomenal. Food is decent I had the steak tip marsala (not pictured). My friend shared some shrimp cocktail with me and they had some salads which is perfectly refreshing for the summer. The steak was a little bit overcooked, but everything was well seasoned. I tried one of each mocktail that was available and my favorite is the strawberry mint fizz.

Great restaurant! I should have gotten the Filet, my strip steak was a little undercooked, too much fatty. It was mostly good, just not 5 stars. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were perfect!! The apple cobler desert with vanilla ice cream was yummy.

Simply amazing! Somehow we have lived down the road for years and had never tried this amazing resteraunt! We stopped in on a Friday night and boy was it worth the wait! First off service was amazing even though it was a busy Friday night and we got sat without a reservation. Our waitress was amazing and all our food and drinks came out perfect! Their cocktail menu was amazing and they have a rotating specials menu! I had a spring boozy lemonaid that was amazing as well as a mule. The 6oz filet and scallops were to die for couples with a loaded potato. Perfectly cooked and melt on your mouth amazing. My wife went with the gullet and blacked shrimp which were also seasoned oh so well. The deserts.. We were initially full but afyer hearing the menu and specials went with a creme broutlet and a turnover that ended the meal on a perfect note. We left full and happy! Will be back again soon in the future for more date nights!

Came here for a birthday dinner, the food was delicious. Everyone got something a bit different, the have daily specials and tried a sample of the seafood stew which was delicious I wish I got it. I ended up getting the BBQ mixed grill with a ceaser salad. The service was outstanding and appreciated everything. 👍👍

This was our first time dining here. It was a cute place when we first walked in, but as we get settled at our table, I was freezing. The cold air from the ceiling was blowing right on us. The rolls came out and they were hard and dry and crumbly. I ordered the turkey and sausage gumbo, which I have to say it was the best food of everything we ordered. My husband ordered a salad which was good. He also ordered the St Louis ribs, which was a huge plate of food and he really like that. I ordered the cajun chicken with peppers and onions. The chicken was not what I expected. There were 2 pieces of thin flat boneless strips. It was okay. I had higher hopes about the place from what I heard of it. But after what we experienced, we most likely won't be visiting again.

First off, the light smell of raw sewage when we walked in should've been a red flag. It kinda hangs in the air & is worse near the bathroom. Secondly, if you go to this restaurant thinking you'll be able to order the dishes shown when you Google it, you will be sadly disappointed. Many of the dishes listed are not on the menu. Two people in my party planned to order fish & chips, but it turned out to not be on the menu. Our waiter asked the kitchen if they could make it, and they kindly obliged, but the fish was inedible. "Tastes like soil." one said. Grade A for accommodation and effort, but Grade F for execution. My "7 napkin" burger was a tasteless, dry & overcooked giant meat patty. With a name like that, I was expecting meat juices, steak sauce and onions oozing, but it was pretty bland & very dry. Pretty sure no seasonings were used in the meat. My husband's meatloaf was the same, but the BBQ glaze was pretty tasty. My margarita was a C at best, & tasted like it came from a mix. But hey! French fries were good! Anyway, $145 later, I can say, don't waste your money.

We had dinner there last night as a party of 4. Our server Connor was very friendly, professional and attentive. We ordered drinks and they took an exceptionally long time to be served to us. We ordered apps and they were delivered promptly and were delicious. Brussel sprouts with mushrooms, and mussels in a chorizo sauce. Again, delicious. We ordered our meals: sea scallops, two swordfish dinners and Jambalaya. Due to the restaurant filling up, our meals took a very long time to be served and one of the swordfish dinners was cold. Our server returned it to the kitchen and after a while, was returned hot. It was a small portion (maybe 6-7 oz.), but quite tasty and fresh. I ordered a refill on my glass of wine and that effort took a very long time too. My guess is that the bar was understaffed last night. The quality of the food was all very good though, and we would return.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Anthony Jacks! Some of the reviews were iffy, but we went anyway because the menu looked good. Three of us went for lunch on a Sunday. We had great service, tasty food, and the prices were reasonable. All of our meals were large enough to take home leftovers for a second serving. We were all very happy with the quality and flavor of the food. There is ample free parking behind the restaurant in the municipal lot. There is also some street parking if you get lucky enough to snag a spot!

Yelp
I felt that our food was subpar. My friend did also. Where do I begin ? I ordered muscles they were tiny and flavourless. My friend ordered the scallops and felt that they were not fully cooked. For the amount of money we paid we felt that things definitely were lacking.

Yelp
For the second time we ordered from the take out menu. Both times the order was late by 30 minutes from pick up time. We had three orders, two orders were alright but the third was over cooked. I asked for a medium rare hamburger and it came out well done and inedible.

Yelp
Went out for a date night and based off other reviews decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did. The place was pretty busy but we were seated fairly quickly. Our waitress did seem tired but tried to remain friendly. This is farm to table service which we loved! They bring out each course when you're ready allowing you to really enjoy each course. Drinks: Kentucky mule 10/10 perfect blend between bourbon and ginger beer When seated you receive fresh bread w/olive oil & balsamic (very yunmy) Appetizer: Spinach & Parmesan Dip 9/10 - we wish it wasn't as thick Cesar Salad 9/10 Filet Mignon 9.5/10 - only "complaint" is asked for medium and received medium well. Still delicious and not worth asking for a new one. Bbq ribs & pulled pork 10/10 - sauce was sweet/spicy very good. Didn't have room for dessert but hoping to go back & make room!

Yelp
A bit hesitant to come here based on the yelp 3.7 rating but gave it a shot anyway as we were in the area. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. Among the dishes we had was the cranberry chicken, chicken piccata, chicken cordon blue a d the blackened chicken sandwich. The sandwich was a wrap which seemed pretty straightforward but the chicken was super flavorful and very good. The other dishes were good too with the chicken being nice and crispy. The place was pretty packed and the other dishes i saw on other tables looked pretty good too. Overall was a good experience.

Yelp
Server was very attentive to our large group. I ordered the cranberry chicken which was flavorful and tender .

Yelp
Four for dinner and four stars. Four for the food. Four for the service. Nice pour for the four drinks. Four for you to go. Shrimp. Scallops. Salmon. Prime Rip. Steak. Salads.

Yelp
Had an opportunity to check out Anthony Jacks in Southington. I visited them on a Sunday evening. We called to put our name in (per their recommendation) ahead of time, but the place wasn't busy at that time we arrived (always a good practice though). We were seated near the window at a 2 person table. I was expecting a draft, but when I sat down, I noticed it wasn't drafty at all. The setting is a very quiet one (at least on the day that I went). It was perfect for a date night out when you want to hear the person you are on the date with. The menu offered a decent variety of options. A solid amount of the dinner dishes were seafood or steak, though. It's not an issue, just something to note. The prices are in the $$ range. When you arrive at your table they bring rolls (common practice) BUT they give you what appeared to be a small amount of mashed potatoes covered in garlic and olive oil to dip the rolls in. INTERESTING. Those rolls carried us nicely into our salads. I ordered the Steak and Chicken Tips. It was delicious. They were cascaded with veggies over a bed of mashed potatoes. The mushrooms were cut perfectly for single biting. My date (my wife) got the Cranberry Chicken and substituted for roasted potatoes instead of mashed. She was happy with the flavor balance of the chicken and the roasted potatoes had a crusted texture that added to the whole meal. Server was very attentive the whole meal. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I will be back for another date very soon.

Yelp
Enjoyed the fried eggplant appetizer, something different and never had it before. My swordfish lunch was okay. I was asked how I wanted it cooked and it was the first, so obviously I wanted it cooked well and asked for it to be well-done which was a big mistake. It was way overcooked and dry. But the lemon parsley sauce saved it. BF enjoyed his burger. Place was a little busy. But service was attentive. I'd be back and try something else when in the area.

Yelp
What a wonderful find! We were visiting a friend in CT ( we live in Cincinnati) and she picked out this restaurant. We all ordered the house burger and when it came we couldn't believe our eyes. I wish I had taken a picture, it was massive! Two of us did not want French Fries so the server (who was wonderful) gave us a large house salad as a side. None of us could eat our complete meal so we all have most it to eat sometime later. Just getting from the parking lot to the restaurant is a "trip In itself." There are large stocks of split hardwood at the back of the building that are burned to give the smoked flavor to the food, and the smell of the burning wood is so strong that you might just feel like you are at a campsite. I love the smell of wood campfires and I teased the server I would like my meal served to me in the parking lot so I could enjoy the smell of the burning wood. Would love to back here again!

Yelp
I'm surprised Anthony Jack's only had 3.7 stars. I've always had a super consistent experience here. My favorite is cranberry chicken. The sauce with the mashed potatoes...*chef kiss!*. They redid the inside recently and it looks great. Service has always been great - never a complaint. Return again and again whenever we want something we know will be tasty. Also - very kid friendly!

Yelp
Recent remodel took away toy cozy ambience due to brighter lighting. Service was good, but NY strip steak was overcooked, and was replaced missing the rest of the entree. Replacement was cooked properly but underseasoned and not tender as it should be.

Yelp
I wrote a review and took it down after the owner came after me online. But she was so erroneous and inappropriate that I had to put it back up again. For the first time in my 63 years of life, I was kicked out of a restaurant. This was after the owner for reasons that defy reason, left her running vehicle with the radio blaring in a "no parking zone" right in front of her own outdoor diners. Who wants to experience noise and fumes while trying to enjoy a sunny Saturday outside? Why would anyone do that, much less the person who wants their own customers to have a positive experience? Because she was caught red handed, she yelled at us and called us racist because we referred to a person in her employ as "Black." That is not an insult. This was her excuse to kick us out. My companion who is part of a minority in our USA, has experienced a lifetime of discrimination and works hard to help others so they don't have the same experience as he had. I am a public educator who works with students from all across the rainbow. He and I were so deeply shocked and offended to be called such a name. Another reviewer talked about a crazy person at this restaurant. I wonder if its the same woman we dealt with. Shocking stuff happening in Southington. She needs to know that this is not OK.

Yelp
My husband and I began dating nights at Anthony Jacks before the pandemic and it was fabulous. It was rated 4.3 stars at the time. Now, it is a totally different story. Went there for my birthday. It was such a letdown. I ordered the Rigatoni with chicken and shrimp. The chicken was overcooked and there was hardly any shrimp as I picked through the disappointing dinner entree. My husband had the cranberry chicken entree and it was served in a boat load of oil. So disappointing. The service was ok but we will not be returning :(

Yelp
Very nice inside the restaurant kinda loud ,food was average ,had the ribs, chicken plate to sweet, service was ok had to wait and place wasn't bust

Yelp
Parking in the lot behind the restaurant. Good size portions and prices. Most importantly, really good food. We had burgers and they hit the spot. My mom loved her pork chop and it looked solid. Very friendly service. I was driving so no cocktails had but they looked good from a distance.

Yelp
have pretty much had great experiences here in the past, but the female manager is certifiable. cant have a logical conversation & is superduper aggressive. she's gotta be right all the time. wouldnt give me her name. thats a hint. awful, just awful.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a friend recently and the Foodie was phenomenal. I've lived around the corner for quite some time now and haven't really come here for Food. Well I'm glad I did now because it was honestly the best salmon I've ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly. The herbed rice and green beans were also very good. The spinach dip was hot with lots of fresh spinach in it where you could actually taste the freshness. The chips were fried to perfection and were not overly salty. All in all, I cannot wait to go back again and eat this salmon, I think about it everyday. We sat outside, because it was nice weather but the inside it all redone and looks awesome. Great place for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
A stellar dining establishment - the food, service and atmosphere are first rate. We just love the steaks and grilled swordfish as well as the rich desserts they offer.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in the center of town (Southington) enjoyed the outdoor dining option and the waitress was very friendly and offered suggestions and her suggestions were spot on. The menu has alot of choices. I had the ribs which had a really good smoky flavor. Looking forward to coming back and trying something different.

Yelp
So, TLDR: - Caesar salad w/chicken: soggy, watery, sad ass lettuce. The chicken was dry and unseasoned. The dressing wasn't all that great, and it didn't help that the lettuce was watery. And for an "italian" place, it's a bit disconcerting that they didn't provide garlic bread and instead provided a dry slice of white baguette. - Buffalo chicken tenders: honestly some of the better ones I've had in the central connecticut area, but are just barely tolerable. The majority ended up in the trash, anyway. These couldn't even be saved by the air fryer lol. - Eggplant "stack": avoid it at all costs. Supposed to be a fried eggplant, mozzarella, pesto, marinara sauce and penne. What I got was a soggy fried eggplant, no parmesan, and what basically looks like a seafood paella (I guess is the "seafood fra diavolo" but without penne)... which I'm not sure how you get from "eggplant stack". Even after having my chef wife season everything the way she would if she were cooking it, she was the first to contend that the food is still... not great. Sure makes you wonder why they still don't do online orders or reservations... What a grand waste of $63 and awful way to end my first wedding anniversary. Never again.

Yelp
Wood fired goodness! Filets, baked potatoes, cabernet mushrooms, green beans, and yummy dessert!

Yelp
Pretty nice space and welcoming environment for a casual evening out. The service staff were friendly. The drinks were ... ok...the wine was better. Food was ok. I ordered the chocolate cake and it was quite dry - thankfully the vanilla ice cream was good and saved dessert.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. First time here. The food, service, staff friendliness and ambience was second to none. The crusted tilapia over rice was delicious and they gave me a free dessert free because I was a first time customer. The apple cobbler was to die for. I loved the traditional Christmas music as well. I'll be back!

B M.

Yelp
No consistency in the seasoning of the food. Polenta with the short rib very bland. Ceasar salad way too garlicky . Veggies very salty. Service was great and ambiance nice drinks were good as well. A little too cold in there as well. This was our first time passing through the neighborhood and kinda disappointed.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and service was quick! Had a great experience And would highly recommend!

Yelp
So we came here after a Sunday matinee play at The Arts at Angeloria's. The service was excellent and attentive and the setting is ok. I am not sure if this is quite fine dining or trying to get there. (About $50 pp). I will say the boneless wings were great, we got them with the sauce that normally is on their ribs. Dinner was ok. The NY strip was not the highest quality of cut, and the wood smoke flavor overpowered the bite. (There are other wood fired places where this doesn't occur!) The salmon was ok, (To be honest I don't like much fish) and really the best dish at the table was the eggplant parm dish. Nothing stood out as amazing to me. The highlight of the evening was the chocolate mousse cake which was a special. That was 5 stars. One thing that I would say about the service is that we were never asked if we wanted coffee and the server gave us our bill before dessert. Just saying, maybe we were going to have a few cocktails. Overall, this place was average quality to me, and unfortunately probably will not be on my list to try again.

Yelp
Ordered takeout this evening and absolutely impressed with service and meal. It's the same as if you ate in the restaurant. The young man who answered the phone was pleasant and was also the one who came out to my car to delivery the food. They included a side salad and bread with my salmon with lemon caper sauce, mashed potatoes and veges. Always consistent Thanks AJ

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner last night at Anthony Jacks and our meals were excellent. We had a reservation and we're seated promptly in a comfy booth. Our server Matt was very personable and knowledgeable and I ordered the special steak tips and my wife had the seafood fra Diablo. Both were delicious, but the the star of the night was the banana cream pie my wife and I shared. It was one of the best we ever had. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere with great big windows to allow the sunlight in! Food was absolutely on point. Chicken was cooked to perfection and my dish was amazing. Prices aren't bad for the service and ambiance you get, you think you would be spending way more!!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience I had this afternoon at Anthony Jack's. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for a cocktail and lunch and the service and food were better than we could have asked for! Our bartender, Matt, was hospitable and attentive and our meals were absolutely delicious and came out hot (So many times I find that food is luke warm or just been sitting for a while before it was served)! I had the short ribs which were so tender and juicy. They came with mashed cheesy polenta and sautéed spinach. My boyfriend had the cranberry chicken which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. We will certainly be back! One of our best experiences eating out in a long time! Keep up the great work Anthony Jacks!

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch yesterday. So I can only attest to one meal due to the fact that I ordered and everyone copied me. 4- Guinness. Fresh they must tap it a lot 4- short rib melts. Ok so they brought out bread. It was warm.... but they had let it sit out too long and got stale then heated it. We could not cut through the bottom of the bread with our knife it was so tough. We were starving and pulled the top part of the loaf off as our waitress had disappeared. One of us, I won't say which.... lol.... dipped their bread in their Guinness. Wasn't terrible. Haha The rib melt sandwich. Short ribs on rye with spinach and Swiss. Sounds good right? So it was toasted with a LOT of butter. Very greasy. The meat inside was tasty and the components made for a good sandwich it was just way to saturated with butter. There was what they called greens on the side. It was chunks of iceberg overdressed with oil and vinegar. So much so that one of our group choked on the vinegar on her first bite. I did see a lot of people ordering take out and some leaving with trays. So something must be yummy there. All in all it wasn't the worst food but some attention to detail in the back of the house is needed in this case. Less butter would have made a bangin sandwich and well, maybe not JUST lettuce and lighter on the dressing. ‍

Yelp
Our server honestly made this experience amazing. His name was Matthew and served with energy and passion for Anthony Jacks restaurant. My boyfriend and I got the buffalo chicken wrap and portobello mushroom burger with a eggplant appetizer, unreal. Casual vibes during day and nice during night. A must try place!

Yelp
Ok, time for Takeout! They are running a family takeout special, feeds 4. We had 2 dinners, loved them both. Curbside pickup! The Sunday Turkey dinner & Cranberry Chicken w ziti were both excellent. Easliy feeds 4. Includes regular or ceasar salad. Regular menu items available also, only hint, order early 10:30 am opens, as they have sold out many nights. Good value! Thanks Anthony Jacks!

Yelp
Frequent lunch however went to dinner with friends and ordered specials, the eggplant and chicken. Absolutely delicious, and mashed potatoes were so good too. I don't usually have dessert however Banana cream pie was sent to get table - the best dessert I've EVER had! The flavor, crust, filling etc was superb !! Service was good !

G K.

Yelp
The food has went downhill over the years. I ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was very soft and spongy. My meal came with a soup or salad and I got the Caesar salad and it was literally a cup of salad on a side plate. Pathetic. Had the BBQ Grill meal and it was horrible. The plate had the smallest amount of ribs on it and they were full of fat. The other plate that we ordered was the jumbo scallops and they are NOT jumbo! They are bay scallops!! Very disappointing! The meals are mediocre here and not worth the money. It seems the owners are more worried about their paycheck over quality and satisfaction.
google avatar

Shanina S.

Yelp
The service was great but the food was mediocre. It's a great vibe sitting outside but I wouldn't make my go to stop. I had the polenta and short ribs which was very good. It was first time dining here and my first time eating polenta. It was delicious. I would recommend at least trying one time.

Yelp
It's been a while for us since our last time here. It was Cinco De Mayo and we tried the local SW places with no reservations. Yeah, that was a no go. We know Anthony Jacks has been consistently good so we decided to try to get in. It was packed, but we still got seated within a few minutes. Margaritas, perfect. Salads, awesome. Shrimp burritos, excellent! Just ate the left overs, also great! The place always has a comfortable feel. I always think of it as upscale. You'll never feel over dressed, and they are polite to those who might be a bit underdressed. It's a good stop. Try it.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok this SHOUT OUT to Anthony Jacks is late as we've been ENJOYING the left overs As usual over the last 10 years we've ordered our catering for Xmas dinner from Anthony Jacks so I can concentrate on apps and desserts along with my guests. The pot roast, mashed potatoes and green beans. All were DELISH! They CONTINUE to NOT DISAPPOINT! I don't know how they do it, the pot roast was tender as HELL, mashed potatoes seasoned PERFECTLY, their green beans CRISP and PHENOMENAL even after a day to reheat for Xmas day and then leftovers. The portions to say were generous is an UNDERSTATEMENT! For those who cook do yourself a favor and order catering from AJs to give you more time to enjoy your guests. I PROMISE you won't be disappointed!

April A.

Yelp
first time there and won't be my last! Awesome food cooked to perfection, flavors were just infused into everything! Nice casual comfy atmosphere too. Our waitress, Hannah, had perfect timing throughout our meal. Kudos to everyone at Anthony Jacks!

Yelp
Came back again for I just remember Anthony's in the past to have great wood fired food and wanted to give it another shot. It really was mostly our waitress last time. Got the shrimp scallop and salmon wood fired dinner and was really nice. Great flavor. Comes with salad, baked potato, rice or mashed potato and I got the rice. Rice a bit hard (some bites - maybe not cooked fully) but the seafood was very tasty. Also comes with your basic side of veggies. Zucchini and carrots I believe. Nothing fancy but the price is right. Oh and you get a side of sauce to put on your dish if you choose. I got the cilantro lime vinaigrette and it was great. Our waiter in the bar was fantastic too. He remembered I was gluten free when I told him we didn't want the bread due to that so he asked me if I wanted the croutons off my salad which was really nice. Will be back Anthony's. Look forward to trying more on the menu.

Yelp
Came here with some co-workers and really enjoyed my dining experience here. The ambiance is nice and romantic - great for dates but also for a group setting. The have a decent amount selection of wines and cocktails to choose from. For my dinner entree I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was really really good - perfectly cooked medium rare. It was tender, juicy and tasty. I was very satisfied. The bread with parmesan hummus that comes before your meal was also very good and unique. The service was quick and our server was very attentive. I really enjoyed the food here. The prices are reasonable and I would recommend it to anyone coming to the area. Parking is not an issue even though it's in a downtown area. There is a lot nearby.

Yelp
Went for the first time the other day, we will most definitely be back! Incredible drinks and apps, and the pork Milanese was excellent. This is one of my new go-to restaurants

Yelp
Yummy and good service. Servers were friendly. Good selection of wine. No reservations required. Bar is phenomenal (though I don't drink). Love the wings.

Yelp
Decided to revisit this place after many years for the CT restaurant week menu of 3 courses. A reservation was made easily by a phone call (website states online reservations coming) for a Friday night at 6:30p.m. I dropped off my mother to check in while I looked for parking. Drove around in circles for a bit as everything was packed. Crazy! I arrived at the restaurant after parking and my mother was seated with bread, water, menus. Perfect. The place was so busy--and we happened to have been seated in the direct view of the serving station. Bustling, busy place, packed to the gills. Our lovely waitress, Rita, took our drink and food orders.Drinks: glass of Chardonnay with ice on side, and the coconut pomegranate martini. This is an excellent cocktail which I so loved. Food: 2 gumbo soups, 1 Caesar salad, one garden salad, and 2 orders of the flat iron steak cooked medium rare. The first course was delivered before our drinks, with Rita explaining drinks were coming up. Yeah! The gumbo had a rich, hearty taste, very delicious with sausage and rice. I read rave reviews of this and it is a keeper for sure. I would return just for this. Salads were freshly prepared and delicious. Another round of drinks was ordered before the main course arrived. Steaks arrived medium rare (always love this!) as per request with potatoes and Brussels sprout shavings; really, really good. Each of us took half home to eat later as were were so satisfyingly stuffed. All portions were generous and service and individual attention was fantastic, especially considering the huge volume of patrons. I was most impressed. I will return to try more dishes (lots of reviews mentioned the cranberry chicken) and the desserts which passed by me which looked so enticing! Just keep in mind that parking can be a challenge and plan accordingly--at least on the weekends.

Yelp
So disappointed in my whole experience. My scallops were cold, I asked for rice, they gave me mashed, green beans were cold. Sent it back came back burnt. Another person in my party had to send her burger back, because it was cold and raw. They just put the whole burger and the bread on the grill and burned it. We told them to take it back and we didn't order anything else. Never again. Nothing like my first experience which was excellent.

Yelp
Of course I recommend Anthony Jacks! Quality food. Their speciality is their cranberry chicken, but make sure to ask for it with their green beans! Those are the best.
