11 Family-Friendly Restaurants in Miami and Fort Lauderdale | Eater

"When owner Anthony Bruno moved to Florida, he missed authentic New York-style pizza so much that he decided to make his own. Now, years later, the chain has spread across the Sunshine State and beyond. This spot is known for its cheesy pies, from the most traditional square margherita to modern takes like white pizza and meaty pies decked with pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs. Round out your meal with wings, a salad, a New York Style cheesecake and a round of Cokes." - Vox Creative

Google
Excellent restaurant, amazing server (Adolfo), and the food was terrific! The garlic knots are some of the best we’ve ever had! The coal fired pizza was second to none! Legit salads 🤙 Highly recommended ❤️

Google
When I tell you the food was AWESOME! Yes, the Italian Soul Food.....couldn't have said it better! I've never been to Italy, but I can't imagine the food being better than this 😋. We had the spinach artichoke dip to start. So fresh! Definitely, worth the calorie splurge! And then the carnivori pizza 👌👏😋!!!! We will definitely go again! Oh yeah my daughter had the strawberry lemonade was also very fresh!

Google
we went to the Fort Lauderdale location and were reserved by Danielle. She was the sweetest server ever and was extremely attentive and kind. She was very detail oriented as well and really kept a great eye on us. The manager even came up to check in. The Mike’s hot honey pizza was absolutely delicious as well as the original flavored wings. The soda was very crisp. The ambience was really nice and the restaurants were very clean. Overall, we had a great experience!

Google
The food is great, that's if you like Italian food. I had spaghetti and meatballs, hot wings, garlic rolls, sweet tea, and pizza, so good.

After discovering the existence of Anthony's at another, newer location in another state, I was excited to try this one when I was in Ft. Lauderdale. The food is spot on the same...really nice upscale versions of Neapolitan pizzas. We had the Cauliflower pizza was delicious and beautiful to look at...perfectly browned served on a cutting board. I love Anthony's crusts! They are area with just a little bit of chew. We also had the Arugula Burrata Salad which also was presented beautifully and which came with a generous ball of fresh burrata on it. Atmosphere wise this particular location felt a little dated compared to the essentially brand new one I had been to in another state. The newer design and decor in the other locations give a really strong positive impression right when you walk in which I didn't get at this one. I gather this is one of, if not the original location. I think it would benefit from a visual overhaul like their newer locations for brand consistency and general nicer dining experience. The service was friendly and as fast as it needed to be. We'd definitely come back.

Google
Yummy! It's almost a joke in our family how my husband and I always order our food "Well Done" or even "Extra well done". I loved that this place advertises AND prepares it WELL DONE! Stromboli was amazing! If I'm ever back in this area of Florida, I will definitely come back.

Google
We had an excellent experience at Anthony's. Our server was very friendly, and our food was fresh and tasty.

Google
Great dinner spot, plus got a deal on a glass of wine. Got the Bruschetta, and hot honey but left the hot honey on the side! The balsamic glaze and basil went great as well. Bartender was super awesome as well.. will return!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised at how good this pizza was. It was the closest thing to our hotel and we were looking for a quick dinner before we board a cruise tomorrow. It's casual and full of families/people I'm assuming we're getting on cruises the next day. We were seated immediately and our waiter was QUICK - like food came out immediately quick. We shared a salad which was just standard and a pizza with Italian sausage and onions and YUM. The crust is crunchy and thin, but not too thin. Loved the heavier tomato base. I'd 100% recommend and come back again - perfect lunch or dinner spot if you're staying near airport or cruise port!

Yelp
This is our first day at Ft Lauderdale and staying at Aloft. We arrived at around 1pm and very hungry. this is the closest sit down restaurant so we came in immediately. The place was almost empty so we're in luck! We ordered half and half specialty pizza and the large size for a family of 4, chicken wings for appetizer and the kid's alfredo pasta. The chicken wings cane in first and we were blown away! I miss eating the coal crusted wings! I'm used to eating fried wings so this was so good I want to switch from now on.. then the pizza came, we were amazed by the speed. I'm used to waiting 30+ mins for a deep dish pizza. This one came in 10mins or less.. so hungry family approved. The mike's hot honey burrata is genius! We all loved it. The carnivori is a little overwhelming but a great flavor still. The I had one servingof the alfredo pasta and it's so flavorful as well. I highly recommend this to both local and tourists like us!

Yelp
The pizza is delicious I really like the seating outside The customer service was amazing and attentive The chicken wings are really good but not spicy

Yelp
I have been coming to Anthony's since I was very young, but skipped a few years recently based on my move. I'm glad to say that the quality of food and service has not changed! Delicious cheese pizza, iconic foccacia. My parents liked the wings Service was as you expect. Only downside was that the restaurant was pretty loud. Seems like they need to install insulation in their ceiling!

Gilda R.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and caesar salad! Topping selection is very good also. Loved the patio too. All for a reasonable price.
google avatar

Yelp
Had lunch stromboli. Service very efficient. Stromboli burned at bottom. Filling lacking . Left me hungry. Pasta fagiol soup to acidity. Will not get back.

Yelp
You know I'm gonna find the pizza lol; and i found the pizza. Wood and coal fire is always on the menu for me and this place delivered fine. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's also far from the worst. It could use a little more sauce, but all in all the execution was solid otherwise. I got a specialty pie, "Paulie's Pie", and a 1/2 and 1/2 plain cheese and meatball. Sauce deficit aside it was well made. I also got the garlic knots which were top tier and humongous (which is hard to do, usually the bigger the knot the less flavor they have inside), and the spinach and artichoke dip which was also very good. The lemonade was SUPERRRRRRR SWEET, but I'm not soft so it was fine lol. If you have any sugar sensitivity be forewarned it's not for you. Parking is very very minimal, one small tight lot so you may have to spin the block a few times but it's worth it. Will definitely be back again

Yelp
If you like soggy pizza this is the place- for $60 it can be yours. No need for napkins because they don't give them. Let the pizza drip all over you and when it comes time for that cheese cake better grab your own fork too! Save your money- and go for Pizza Hut.
google avatar

Keli H.

Yelp
Cute little place with extensive menu. Spinach artichoke dip appetizer is fabulous, very rich and creamy. I don't even like spinach artichoke dip and had several bites. The thin crust was a great vehicle for the proscuitto and burrata pizza topped with a bit of basil, balsamic and Mike's Hot Honey. Friendly service even if a bit slow.

Yelp
Anthony's has a great Happy Hour deal with discounted drinks and $5 wings and $4 meatballs. The food is great for the price and the service and ambiance is casual and attentive. We also enjoyed the tiramisu and cheesecake which were delicious. The Italian sangria and wine are also must try's! Happy Hour is from 3p-6p during the week days.

Yelp
Julie was an amazing server, refilled every drink and explained the menu as well as told us about the rewards program and even served us the first slice of pizza on our plate and the pizza was also made and served quick and also Carlos the GM come to greet us and had a friendly conversation with us, I always drove by here for many years and finally stoped by and I am glad because me and friends will be coming in a lot more often now.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with Anthony's Coal Fire. This location is spectacular. Amazing service and great ambiance. The food here is always bomb no matter what the location is. The wings the wings the wings. Man I love the wings. The oven bakes wings with the onions are my favorite. I like my coal fire pizza with everything. The works is my favorite. Plenty of parking at this location. Plenty of seating for large families. I recommend always eating in when dining at Anthony's Coal Fire. The delivery pizza isn't the same.

Yelp
Gluten free/ GF pizza was amazing! Got the margherita & it was delicious, one of the better GF crusts I have had. Environment is great as well, sat outside. Only thing is that the service was pretty slow. Not a bad experience at all though, the weather was nice so we didn't mind sitting outside while waiting for server. I would still recommend this place for a gluten free pizza in Ft. Lauderdale! The person I was with also ordered (on a normal crust) the burrata & hot honey pizza, which they liked!
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza was outstanding! We would definitely come here again. Enjoyed eating on the patio. The service was excellent and pizza came out quickly. Our server Danielle was super nice and had no problem accommodating our young one. Great meal 10/10!

Yelp
First time here, pizza was delicious and cooked perfectly the way we like it, server was friendly and nice atmosphere. Definitely will be back & added to my regular pizza place.

Yelp
Visiting Ft Lauderdale while going on a cruise, I wanted to find a good pizza spot. Anthony's was the perfect find! I love thin crust and their crust was perfectly cooked and the toppings were delicious! They have a hot honey they can spread over top (which I got on the side not knowing if I would like it) and it is a MUST have!!! Had the garlic knots and the wings too! So so good! And not far from the airport! I will definitely be back to Anthony's next time I'm in Ft Lauderdale!

Yelp
My husband and I went to dinner at Anthony's while staying in the area. Great food, amazing service, and welcoming environment. The hot honey coal fired pizza was incredible. We shared a delicious salad and after the server walked away we decided we also needed to try out the meatball appetizer. The young lady who sat us noticed us looking towards the server and she immediately came to see how she could help. When we told her we wanted meatballs she rushed away and brought them out to us moments later. We were so glad we ordered them! So good! If we are in the area again we will be sure to stop by for a repeat of that awesome experience.

Yelp
I guess that was a one-off bad experience. Started going back and found it much better. Also they make great strombolis.

Yelp
Update 10/14/24 I recently ordered from Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza (ACFP) for delivery through their website, with service provided by DoorDash. The delivery was impressively quick, and the driver was friendly, but the $6 delivery fee--before tip--felt steep. Unfortunately, the quality of the order didn't match the speed of delivery. I ordered the garlic wings, specifying that I wanted them "wet and well done." What I received was the opposite: the wings were undercooked, dry, and slimy. They were so unappetizing that I had to throw them out, which was disappointing since I usually enjoy their wings. Additionally, I ordered a large salad and asked for extra dressing, but I only received a single small container. It felt like whoever packed the order wasn't paying attention to the details. While the rest of the order was correct and tasted fine, the lack of care in preparing my wings and handling my requests left a sour taste. If you're looking for a more reliable experience when it comes to specific requests--like well-done pizza or extra items--I'd recommend either picking up your order or dining in. While ACFP typically does a good job with deliveries, this experience wasn't up to par. I'd have picked up the order myself if I could, but delivery was my only option this time.

Yelp
This pizza is still my favorite, fresh ingredient, cooked perfectly!! since it was sold I think they've gone to cheaper cheese maybe, somethings changed, so 4 instead of formerly 5 stars. Still better than anywhere else in Ft Laud. they have a loyalty program that takes the edge off the price.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner during an overnight stay in Ft. Lauderdale prior to a cruise. Very pleased with both the food and service! We tried both pizza and stromboli - both were absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Nice, casual atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped in again on our way home/another stop over after the cruise. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After picking up lunch for the Broward neurology center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida my experience with Anthony coal fire pizza in Fort Lauderdale Florida off of State Road 84 was pleasant and great. I spoke with Miss Erica, who was the one who placed my order and made my first appearance toAnthony cofire pizza amazing. I most definitely will be coming back with my nephew so he can experience the same experience. I felt this was the best experience I've had in a long time.

Yelp
This is hands down the best pizza i have ever eaten. Great service, salad was great. I think about this pizza all the time

Yelp
Always 5 stars pizza place ! So far I few different of their locations and looks they all maintain a great high standard and quality salad, wings and pizza! ( I didn't try other items on their menu) also the cannolis are very tasty and so far every time we ordered they seems freshly prepared Will be back Recommended

Yelp
"Used-to-bes don't count anymore. They just lay on the floor 'til we sweep them away.", Neil Diamond I came in today for lunch and I will never return. This is the original location opened by restaurateur, Anthony Bruno, over twenty years ago, and today it's evident that the place will NEVER return to its glory days. I walked in and asked for a table for one and was directed to sit at the empty bar. The waitstaff was attentive and I immediately placed my order. Within ten minutes I received the circular slab of what appeared to be pre-made or pre-flattened cardboard-like dough, with lousy-smelling onions, tasteless ground sausage, and a tomato sauce that I only could've wished was at least as good as Heinz Ketchup. This pizza sucked, and the prices are ridiculous.

Yelp
We're in town to catch a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas and we knew we Had to try Anthony's! In a word , WOW !!! When we researched the restaurant on yelp it looked fantastic and boy, did it not disappoint! We got the 16 in 1/2 and 1/2 Carnivori's and Pauli's pie . The crust is chewy and thin with the perfect char you would expect from this kind of oven . The sauce, a puréed perfection of Italian plum tomatoes and Italian herbs to go with some of the best meat toppings I've ever had ( considering I'm a chef by trade ) and plenty of them too . Our server was a very pleasant young man named guy who was well informed and answered all our question and even offered custom suggestions to take our experience to the next level. Adding fresh garlic to our pizza was one of them and man oh man was he ever right . I'll get it this way from now on !! If you're in town you have to have to have to eat at Anthony's! I know we will EVERY TIME we are back here from now on !! Please don't go anywhere guys because I don't want to have to explain that to my wife !!
google avatar

Amanda Y.

Yelp
I ordered a 9 oz " House Cabernet " They changed us $18 dollars for it ! She said they don't have " House " Cabinet without telling us first ! She said if she tell people the "house Cabernet" costs $18.00, people might think she is looking down on them thinking they can't afford it.
google avatar

Yelp
I had kind of a complicated order as I was using a birthday coupon and a registration reward. The girl who took my order over the phone was super patient and made sure to get my order right. Mt husband had the Paulie which was INCREDIBLE!! My pizza was gluten free crust w no cheese, chicken, sweet peppers and onions. I couldn't believe how great the chicken quality was!! Never had this good of quality at a pizza place. Also the gluten free crust was super crunch and didn't have that floppy or fall apart texture like most gluten free crust. Normally I'm a blaze pizza girl but I'm soo happy to have discovered Anthony's gluten free! And the chicken is a million times better than blaze! So if you're looking for "healthier" pizza or just plain delicious pizza w ricotta, sausages, etc, Anthony's is the place!! We got it to go and it was still hot when we Got home.

Yelp
I always enjoy going to Anthony's but this location is horrible & can give the company a bad reputation. Our pizza was burnt & beyond dried out. I questioned the waitress & she didn't seem to see anything wrong. I asked for the manager. Thinking he would see this pizza was not appealing by any means. The Manager, Brandon, quickly caught an attitude
google avatar

Jarrad G.

Yelp
What happened? I haven't ordered from here in 3-4 years, but seriously.....what happened????Pizza was so chewy I think my jaw will be sore tomorrow morning. Meatballs tasted like chef boyardee's. Sauce was watery. Wings tasted the same, still decent. This is not the same food (pizza, meatballs, or sauce) that I enjoyed for so many years at Anthony's.
google avatar

Yelp
There aren't a lot of options in the area, thankfully Anthony's is a great place to go. It's a short walk from two hotels nearby that serve mostly airport and cruise travelers, a clean restaurant with attentive servers, indoor seating and a covered patio, and bar. The bartender smiled and greeted me as I walked in and said sit wherever you like. (I chose the patio, but if street noise bothers you it's quieter inside.) I had the 12" wood fired Carnivori pizza and it was excellent. My server Lauren recommended extra cheese and it added flavor. If I lived in the area this would be my choice for takeout, but it's also not bad to drop in and sit awhile, have a drink, a bite to eat, and wait for traffic to let up. Thanks Anthony's for being there.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Ordered the half and half with half hot honey and half margherita. It was delish...Greek salad was interesting with celery in it. Would recommend this pizza to anyone looking for a good thin crust pizza.

Casey S.

Yelp
The pizza is not our 1st choice but the best option while we're in this neighborhood. The service is atrocious. The wait staff let us wait an inordinate amount of time to even bring menus. Rather than treat the customer with respect, they make excuses and defend the poor service.
google avatar

Sexy T.

Yelp
Found this gem a couple blocks from the hotel. The coal fired pizza was perfect, the crust had just a hint of char which added to the flavor. The atmosphere was great, the servers and bartenders were friendly and always there when the beer was almost empty. Don't pass up this place!
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
This is excellent food and service. The ambiance is of a local New York pizza shop. We had a green salad that was very fresh with just olive oil and red wine vinegar and a small meat pizza. The location is just around the corner from the Crown Plaza Hotel.

Michael G.

Yelp
Food service and ambience always the best . Best eggplant hands down . Meatballs. You can take a dizen home with gravy !
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
I only started eating food here because my job is around the corner and we have food catered occasionally. I was recently craving their meatball ricotta pizza and was unfortunately unable to order because I was stuck at work but I signed up for their rewards program. That was a good idea because you receive a free 12" pizza when you join. I remembered this week that I didn't use the reward and it was expiring so I made the effort to order. I placed my order online for my free pizza, along with garlic knots and focaccia bread. I was asked the make, model, and color of my car so I could have curbside pickup. The order said 20 minutes. I got caught up at work so I left a little later and there was an accident blocking US1 so it look more like 25 minutes for me to get there. There were no signs for curbside pickup and that parking lot is a disaster. Mostly because the people parking there are not the sharpest. Since the parking lot was a shit show, I thought it would be best to park and retrieve my food myself by going inside. After the woman in front of me took her time and finally completed her transaction, I provided my name, to which the staff member retrieved my food, and I was out the door. I was inside for such a short amount of time but it did look clean and smelled delicious in there! Of course trying to leave the lot was worse than trying to get in and park. The parking was the only negative aspect for me, as if you could not tell already! I would be great for an additional driveway but maybe it is not possible. I finally arrived home and scoffed down some slices with hubs. Even though we did not reheat it and it was cold, the pizza was very good. Garlic rolls from any place taste the same to me. The focaccia was not the greatest in the sense it lacked some flavor. I am surprised in myself but I really like their food. The pizza is not close to NY pizza but it is still very good and has a lot of flavor. I would highly recommend eating at the restaurant or choosing delivery as an option.

Yelp
Ordered take out and pizza was ready on time right when we got there. The takeout had its own section off to the right which was nice, in and out in just a few minutes. Staff was friendly and attentive. Large inside area for seating and a few benches outside as well. Would have loved to dine in, great ambience Parking in front of the restaurant seems like it would be tough, not many spots up front and they were full when we pulled up. Luckily we were just picking up so we pulled up to the side. For the food...Let me start by saying I've eaten at Anthony's coal fire pizza (different locations) many times and it always was great. However, it did not hit the mark this time. Ordered a cheese pizza and it lacked the flavor and I've been accustom to. Some bites I felt like I was just eating bread. Asked for basil to be added and it looks like it was just thrown on top. Might have just been an off night for this location. Would still come back and eat inside, might have a better experience than take out.
google avatar

Lulu O.

Yelp
Very cool casual dining restaurant, nice atmosphere with indoor and patio seating. Service was Excellent and server offered many options for food and beer selections. The burrata salad is a MUST try! We shared a pizza for 2 with the burrata and it was plenty!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
my husband and I usually go for lunch. but tonight we arrived around 4:30 for happy hour. meatballs were soft and tasty. wings were delicious. server Marochio was pleasant and efficient. we'll be back for lunch and. later!

Yelp
This specific Anthony's location is so good! It is a hundred times better than the location further north on federal. They brought my salad and garlic knots out at the same time. Garlic knots were hot with lots of olive oil and garlic and the chopped salad was loaded with toppings and dressing. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was calming
google avatar

Crissy H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this little spot, it was right around the corner from our hotel and a nice cigar lounge. Our waitress was sweet and very knowledgeable when it came to their menu. We had the meatballs w/ garlic knots, it sounds like something so small, but was filling and delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, ladies night, or for a small get together.

Yelp
This place has hardly any parking. But we got here about half an hour before they close so we have no issue with that. Normally though, it is next to impossible to get a spot. Okay onto the food. To start, I ordered an American icon Haze. This is an IPA and it is great! It was my first time hearing of it. It was delicious and a great way to start my experience here. I also ended up getting the Floridian Top Gun beer towards the end of the meal. This one was just okay. I don't think it has enough flavor for my liking. I have eaten that Anthony's many times but only at this location a couple of times. The restaurant is very clean and they have a nice and bright to ho area. Jacqlyn was our server. She was very cheery considering it was going to be a late night. She bought us everything we needed and was great. We ordered just a large pizza. I had eaten a big lunch. I wasn't hungry but of course, I cannot resist Pizza! There was lots of sauce on the pizza which I love. The cheese is very high quality. Their salads and wings are great too. We were just not that hungry to order them this time. You can also sit outside and watch the cars go by on Federal Highway. Lol
google avatar

Thomas S.

Yelp
Been here many times, great pizza, long pepppers, meatballs, etc. Great energy inside this location. We get pizza to go often.
google avatar

Javier R.

Yelp
It was ok nothing amazing, probably wont go back. The food was a bit greasy. We wanted the wings well done.

Michael S.

Yelp
Pizza was better than average. Came out quick and hot! A quick walk from the Crowne Plaza. My only suggestion would have been to have a few more lighter (Plizen) beers on tap/bottle.
google avatar

Nancy E.

Yelp
Food was outstanding!! We ordered the traditional wings which have caramelized onions and so crispy. Not greasy either. The garlic knot rolls were very good and the pizza was superb. If you like thin crust and well done but not burned this is your place!
google avatar

Barbara R.

Yelp
The menu is still limited due to Covid, but heck you go to a pizza place for pizza! In saying, I was hoping for Caesar salad with my pizza but they only have their Italian tossed, which sadly includes celery, and I'm allergic. The effervescent young waiter, Zachariah, offered to personal toss a personalone for me WITHOUT celery. However, didnt need after my amazing GLUTEN FREE roasted cauliflower pizza, with olive oil, garlic, mozz, and romano. If you're GF, be sure to say no breadcrumbs!!! It was delicious...check out picture. Husband had traditional coal fired with pepperoni and sausage. Both perfect with leftovers for tomorrow. The house 'Super Tuscan' is a steal as well, though at 26 price point, not a true super tuscan...certainly drinkable, though. BONUS...was my birthday a few days ago, they gave us a pizza for free. Bonus tip to the server!

Yelp
Keeping in perspective that Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is a chain restaurant, I have to give them kudos for rising above the sea of mediocrity that many chain restaurants stay happily mired in and rise themselves to provide a generally pleasant experience by offering good food served by a friendly team in a pleasant setting. I am originally from New Jersey and am a huge fan of pizza and like to think of myself as somewhat a connoisseur of pizza. We truly had some amazing pizza up in the Garden State and when I moved down here to Florida back in 2001, I was both shocked and dismayed to find that good pizza was not so readily available. In New Jersey, it seemed that there was great pizza located on almost every corner. Here in the Sunshine State, good pizza proved to be rather elusive and finding it was not very easy and when it was found, it was indeed a time of celebration (and what better way to celebrate than with a slice of pizza in hand?). Again, for a chain restaurant, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is definitely good. I will also say that Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has been rather consistent with all the locations that I have been to. I have found the food to be good and the service to always be pleasant. This particular location was no exception. I would definitely recommend here.
