Flash-ship to the max! The best part about their window displays is, they are in line the ALL the other stores in the country except….a tier above the rest.

Absolutely LOVE this store, and feel it is more my style than free people. Though I live on Long Island (as of 1/2025 only 2 stores service Long Island. One is in Huntington and the other is in Brooklyn), I often take the hour drive or train into NYC to check out and purchase from the Anthropologie stores there as I like the bigger stores (which means more selection/style of clothing). And I ALWAYS find a fabulous piece OR two.

At 1 pm today on the 30th July as a tourist visiting from Geneva Switzerland I was harassed by a store visitor (store on Rockefeller Center) on the payment que physically and verbally. The store staff - a lady grey cardigan brunette ) whose name she did not want to share along with the security took totally the side of the harasser lady (black curly hair and a mini dress) who physically pushed me twice on the que. the store staff without even listening the harassment I lived through took the side of the other and asked me to be silent and be an adult!!!. She was not aware what has happened despite she was sure I was wrong. The store manager can check the store’s surveillance footings. Least to say that I will never and ever enter an Antropology store as long as I am apologised by the store manager for this sad event.

Driving in NYC for a wine tasting event at a social club when I spilled a beverage on my white shirt. ARGH!! We were tight on time so I called Anthropologie to see if I could quickly purchase a new white blouse. An associate at Anthropologie by the name of LUNA was WONDERFUL !! She said come right in and we will have you covered. Sure enough, I walked in and several new white shirts were just waiting for me to select. The stylist DAVID helped me make the decision and off I went as happy as could be… and on time!! What incredible service and a fantastic staff at the Rockefeller Center Anthropologie. I remain a loyal customer and would recommend this store to anyone looking for a purchasing experience with people who go above and beyond!

This is a gem of a store and I love that it’s rarely crowded and the sales racks are usually well-stocked. Here you can browse and explore without feeling overwhelmed. Another advantage of this location is its proximity to other attractions in Rockefeller Center. After your shopping excursion, you can explore the iconic sights, grab a bite to eat, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this renowned area. It's a convenient and enjoyable way to spend a day in New York City.

What are the odds of getting anyone on the phone at lunchtime at a flagship store at Rock Ctr. Zip, Zero, Nyet, Nada, Non! Let alone an associate that’s not harried or rushed! The call was picked up immediately; no phone trees to nowhere and Anthony couldn’t have been more attentive. He pulled up the items online, then retrieved them from the store’s inventory and put them on hold. I got to the store several hours later and they were waiting for me. In addition, a couple of others that I hadn’t seen online that Anthony thought would be a nice counterpoint to the ones I had in mind. Hanna greeted me warmly and carved out space for me to create a lovely grouping. She made a significant contribution to the in store purchase as well as helped place an order online. Not only do I have a beautiful centerpiece, I have a lovely memory to go with it. Thank you from a delighted client

Google
Pretty store. Well maintained and merchandised. Spacious. Not 5, only star - LONG wait to check out…. There were associates walking around and only had 2 people ringing out though 5 more could have been used. Interesting interior architecture details.

Google
10/21/24 Christmas decor and displays are already up. For a store that has such elegant displays and is revered as more tasteful and trendy it sure seems tacky to push the holidays when Halloween hasn’t even happened. Basically it’s giving greedy Walmart.

Yelp
One of the handful of Anthropologie stores left in NYC, like many retailers they've trimmed the fat in terms of lower performing locations. I'm glad this one is still around since it's the most convenient location and most central at Rockefeller Center, compared to the other 4 stores (UES, Chelsea market, SoHo and W.Village). Their product styling is generally considered more boho chic apparel, accessories and home goods + furniture, I'd call it maybe more romantic and whimsical, less preppy and buttoned up. They're owned by Urban Outfitters which also owns Free People so the adjacencies between the aesthetics, products and target consumers make sense. They're geared toward the mid 20s to mid-40s age range, and prices tend to be on the mid to higher side for this type of product. Not to level of high-end designer but generally more than your mid-range mall retailers. In the countless number of times I've visited, staff here usually are cordial. There's a main level which has the main entrance from street-side, new seasonal collections, accessories and the checkout/register area towards the back of the store. Then there's a basement level which is accessible from with Rockefeller Center. The fitting rooms and home goods section are downstairs.

Yelp
I had the worst experience here today with the store staff and manager Abby. She was condescending and homophobic. I asked for her to price match something online and I needed it by a certain day. She refused and was cruel to me and my friends.

Yelp
Lesson number one in customer service, greet your customers. I walked by three different sales people and not only did they not say even hello, it's like they purposely avoided eye contact and having to interact with another human being. I guarantee friendly service will result in better sales.

Yelp
This was a large Anthropologie store and they had the specific perfume item I wanted that we didn't have at my local store. I poked my head in to see if they had my travel perfume and they did, so I bought three! Instantly greeted at the door upon entry by staff and pointed in the right direction. We didn't spend long browsing but I saw a large selection of candles - the largest ones I've ever seen before - and I found a beautiful small black leather tote bag that I impulse purchased. Checkout was easy and smooth with plenty of people working the registers.

Yelp
I Love this location and layout of the store. Anthropologie and Zara are definitely one of my favorite brands to shop for. Their designs and fit certainly versatile and the prices for the quality are low especially when they have sales exploding. I'd give 5 stars but the lines can be extremely long during sales and wish they had more registers open & employees working.

Yelp
One of the most miserable retail experiences of my life. They should simply have a sign on the door that reads: "Gay Men not welcome. Shop at your own risk." I entered the store probably 10 minutes after they opened. There were probably 4 people max shopping and roughly 15-20 people working. The store was a MESS. Racks everywhere. Tables covered in hangers and random items. Managers were just chatting with associates in the corners, loudly laughing about their weekends. No one greeted me, asked me if I need help or ever smiled/looked at me. I tried to approach 3 different sales associates and ALL three turned and walked away from me as they saw me approaching. I had a simple question as to if they had another color in one of their popular items in stock. I finally stopped a woman near the front door on the lower level and asked her. She said "That's not my job" and snatched the item out of my hands and began looking it up on her handheld device. Quickly and very easily she told me they didn't have more in stock and this was the last one. She then just put the item down on the table and walked away. I had to go around the large display table to pick back up the item. Then I went to the register to purchase two items. I was the only one at the registers. The whole area was a mess. The cashier was on the phone and awkwardly turned away when I was standing in the queue. Finally after a few minutes another woman approached me and asked if I wanted to check out. I should have just left and not purchased the two items. Never felt more unwelcome in a retail environment in my life.

Yelp
I still very much like Anthropologie offerings - a lot. It's a great store to find unique pieces, and oftentimes you can find sale items discounted further anywhere from 25% to 40%. I've been shopping at this location for many years. What I find waning is customer service. The sales associates are just as friendly as ever but store policies and managers on staff are becoming less and less accomodating. I came in store today to get a price adjustment on a dress I bought online for $138.00 (after a 30% discount). I ordered it on November 30th. Today, December 9th, the exact same dress is on sale for $99.00 with an additional 30% off sale items. What changed? You can only get a price adjustment on full price items now (the manager said they changed the policy five months ago in July) whereas before you could get a price adjustment on any item within 14 days of purchase. In short, I could not get a price adjustment. Lucky for me, the item is still in stock online. So I had to repurchase via the sales associate and have it shipped to me - and I'll bring the other one in for a $138.00 refund. I hope it arrives in time for my event. I'm an anthro member and have been one for years, but it doesn't count for much. I'm less inclined to shop here now.

Yelp
This is the worst anthropology in Manhattan. My wife tried to exchange a item for a smaller size and the cashier said a sale item can not be returned. The store manager was standing next to the cashier and said,"it's no problem ". Cashier than says , we will do this one time only". The staff is kind of full of themselves at the location. All other locations in the city are very nice but not this one.

Yelp
This is my favorite Anthropologie in the city. They actually have some petites and I wish they carried more! The staff is shockingly helpful and attentive for how large the store is. I will always recommend this spot.

Yelp
SHAKE DOWN: I love this store, enjoying more than an hour of the fresh inventory and ideas. With 8 people waiting to check out and 2 cashiers, we all waited, patiently. Leaving the store, the store alarm went off. I raised my bags, because I saw the clerk remove the security tags and couldn't imagine what was happening. A cashier came out and went through my bag, my purse, the pockets on the jeans, just like I saw them do to another lady, when I had arrived. Within 20 seconds, I tried to leave your store and the alarm set off, again. I raised my arms up, another cashier warned me she would check my bags. They said it was the nail polish setting off the alert. I asked, do you want to escort me out? What should I do? How do I leave? The cashier said, "Just Leave!" By the way, why did the security guard disappear, after guarding the door all this time? It was depressing being searched and shaken down. Shame on you, Anthropology. I am a good customer and to be trusted.

Yelp
Love this store. It is large, well laid out with plenty of sizes in many styles. Lots of home good too. In Rockefeller Centre.

Yelp
Always something different at Anthro. Perfect gifts for someone special on your list or a hostess gift Comfy and soft lounge wear as well as one of a kind dress for you next event. Adorable kitchen gifts to include juice glasses, mugs, dessert plates. You can't just go in and out --waaayy too much to see.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I love all Anthropologie stores! Whatever city we're in, we stake out the closest one and have a shopping excursion. But this particular location had some of the least helpful, rudest staff I've ever encountered. It pains me to give one of my favorite stores less than a glowing review. The store itself, 5 stars! Because of the lame service here, 2 stars.

Yelp

Yelp
The customer service at this location has really dropped and have become really quite terrible. Unexcusably so when you consider how physical stores are suffering these days from online purchases... And this was on their not so busy day by the way. I came in with the intention of buying a home item. After looking for it and not finding it anywhere, I asked a young sales lady if they have the item in stock. She seemed efficient at first and said let me check and went to the cashier area, I assumed to look in the system for it. 7 min later she goes back to putting things away without making much eye contact and no word. My husband told me I think she forgot what you asked her and I kept saying no it's not possible, I'm sure she is waiting on someone to help her out and someone else is looking into it. The hubby kept saying yeah she's not going to come back. I kept looking at her and sometimes she was looking my way but without doing much anything else. After what felt like another 5 awkward minutes, she proceeded to cash out other people in line with no updates, acknowledgement or really any follow through whatsoever... I went to seek help from someone else and saw 2 group of 2 salespeople hanging out and chatting so I chose one group and asked the same question. Both groups were most standing there gossiping and hanging out... long story short instead of trying to do anything they just told me to go the cashier and ask them. I'm not sure what their purpose standing there was. I just gave up and left. All of them were young millennials. God help us all. If time want so precious I would have spoken to.a manager but i chose to enjoy the rest of my day and go online later. I used to work at Anthropologie about 5 years ago and let me just tell you in no way was any of this customer service ever acceptable. You were expected to figure it out and find an answer and if you didn't know, you would find someone that would know and not pretend the customer didn't exist. Definitely not helping not wanting to buy the item online.

Yelp
Favorite Anthro in Manhattan. Hands down. We visited a few days after Christmas (12/29/2019) and there was this HUGE sale. The whole basement and 2nd floor was on sale. And to top it off, there was a 40% markdown on all sale items. It was pretty packed from this awesome sale, but because they have so many dressing rooms, there was no waiting line! Tons of staff so there was barely a wait at checkout either.

Wanyan A.

Yelp
I bought nearly 20 pieces items in the Rockefeller's center store today, and I found I was overcharged twice from the long listed receipt, after second time I went back to store and told the staff I was overcharged, the white blond girl who seems to be in charged, not only didn't apologize for the overcharged items but also asked me :" ok, so is there anything else you want to bring back? I don't want you to come back to us AGAIN!" Like I enjoyed to carry my heavy bags and go back to the store, and in the end when she finally finished the return , she passed me the receipt, I said thank you, and she just say : Yeah I always enjoyed shopping at anthropologie, except this time. It's not a good choice that Anthropologie started to hire rude people to represent their store.

Yelp
Would never recommend shopping at this brand ever again. I came in for a return and was treated extremely poorly with little to no customer service provided by the store manager at the time. I provided my receipt and the unused item and when they scanned the return (well within the 60 days) a piece of paper was printed out and was slid over to me awkwardly. They told me they couldn't do anything and that they knew nothing and that I had to call the number on the piece of paper. The whole time both the clerk and the manager were extremely awkward and pretended to have no idea why this could be happening and insisted that they could provide no further help. You could tell they knew something but it was some super big secret. I felt extremely awkward and was treated like I was a criminal. I asked if they could call the number on the receipt and speak to there customer support, I purchased it in store and wanted to return it in store. Again he said he couldn't tell me anything nor could he help anymore nor could he call his own corporate office. Finally after pushing him to investigate further and not taking no for an answer he somehow was able to run it on another register after seeing that it was originally an exchange. This took 10 minutes of convincing that he needed to help me. The store has fraud filters (return abuse etc) and rather than tell you that, they are trained to keep repeating that you need to call this number we have no idea. There system for some reason flagged it as a suspicious return even though I had my original receipt and method of payment (card). Beware those that shop here, this is the customer experience you get when spending your hard earned money at a brand that charges you $130 for a $13 sweater. Learn to treat your customers better!!! Preventing fraud is fine but preemptively treating people poorly and throwing them out to fend for themselves is not a way to build any relationship with your customers!!

Yelp
I love this store. I've never purchased clothes here. I did buy a hand bag this summer. It was 20% off today. Figures! Very little sales help is needed here. This merchandise sell itself. My daughter headed right back to the markdowns today. She found a nice blouse marked down. After her additional 20% off she got a deal! She knows how to work it! Me, I see what I want and pay full price for fear it will be gone! I like the style here. I like the low profile sales technique. I like the huge store with flowing staircase. You just have to go in look around and see if you have the same experience.

Yelp
Anthropologie by far is one of my favorite stores. You can find one of a kind pieces that are timeless but will definitely cost you. I tend to scour the sale rack before browsing the rest of the store, I never know what I will find. Anthropologie products make good gifts that please all. I always encounter welcoming and friendly sales associates. Great store!

Yelp
Went in on Saturday afternoon, while walking by & saw a pretty pair of shoes in the window. Found the shoe section in a narrow area on the 1st floor. While shopping. I was also trying to fix my smooshed sunglasses on the wall mirror & noticed a woman on the ramp. Could feel eyes on me but every time I turned around, she looked away or made it look like she was shopping. THEN I realized I WAS being watched while other shoppers looked at shoes, 2 men sat on chairs in that cramped area. I was carrying around a large shopping bag with a little cooler inside to head to Whole Foods after during this oppressive heat wave. Obviously this is a signifier?? The salesgirl was pressing on her earpiece the whole time. I checked out the rest of the shoes (& left my awkward bag in the corner) she asked if I needed help- I already felt so uncomfortable, I didn't ask about the red sandals I saw in the window. As I'm headed out & frowning, I go to look at a jacket near the door as the front salesperson presses her earpiece and walks by. Felt so frustrated and meekly yelled "Do you want to check my bag?" She turns a little & walks off. Otherwise, I used to work the area for 6 years and the store was huge and had nice things. They were expanding to the lower floor at the time & it was very comfortable to shop in-not anymore!!

Yelp
The customer service there was rude and did not wrap my breakable silverware properly. They looked like they did not want to be there.

Yelp
Some days, when my Husband finds me missing he knows I have gone walkabout. Sans bush country, this urban knitter hies to Anthropologie when my kntter's muse is silent. It's the sweater design that draws me in. I must have all the sweaters. ALL of them. Since purchasing them all would severely hinder my Soju and Sushi habit, I shamelessly glom their ideas to knit the sweaters myself. The staff are super nice and don't mind at all that I camp out on the couch interminably to discern construction. Now if I could only sew...
google avatar

Yukari E.

Yelp
This is my favorite lunchtime escape from corporate world! The customer service is world class. Amazingly genuine and personal. Rockefeller center location attracts tourists, it's crowded but they make sure that you feel comfortable for asking questions and looking for your sizes and making suggestions for other options...etc.
google avatar

Ro R.

Yelp
This place is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge and overwhelming. F got mad, since I was taking forever. Ha - I told F I am just making a quick stop here, but I didn't know this place was this huge. So Whoopsie! The customers here are annoying though. Don't touch me if you don't know me, just say EXCUSE ME and then ask your question.
google avatar

Yelp
This has to be one of my favorite Anthropologie locations. I cannot say anything bad about it except I wish I had more money to spend. I came here before my Top of the Rock appointment to kill time. Then, I returned afterwards to do some damage. There are plenty of sales racks. The clothes were at least 60% off. I definitely had to practice a bit of restraint to resist spending more than I should have. The home section is great too and definitely a good browse. This Anthropologie is decorated beautifully that it was picture worthy. The staff is friendly and helpful. They greet you with a sincere smile and are kindly apologetic if you're waiting too long at the registers.

Yelp
I've been to many Anthropolgie stores because it's my wife's favorite store and this is probably the nicest one I can think of. Besides having unique displays and a rather large open space compared to some of the other stores it has a much livelier vibe to it. I can't really explain it. All the other ones in Manhattan are just don't have the energy this place does. It's unusual because part of the store is underground which is not like any other Anthro I've been to. The underground plaza and shops at Rockefeller center is a busy place but well maintained.

Yelp
Anthropologie has been a favorite retailer of mine for at least five years, so it was a lot of fun to visit this giant NYC location this past week. The main floor is pretty average in size, so the large basement makes this store twice as big as a normal location! I didn't necessarily see a lot of additional apparel and accessories - I was hoping to stumble upon some "Online Exclusives" and extra handbags - but the additional space seemed to be filled by home decor and shoes. Customer service was OK. I did carry around at least five items for quite some time until someone offered to start a fitting room. However, the stunning windows, beautiful location, and spacious fitting rooms outweighed the mildly lacking customer service. I look forward to visiting this store again in the future!

Yelp
The large store is welcoming with its funky/fugly clothes, "Taylor-Swift's-girl-squad's-house-goals-inspired" home goods and amazingly scented candles (more on these in a sec). The staff is nice but won't bother to offer you a shopping basket. The set up of the products is weird. It is an Urban Outfitters at the end of the day - but at triple the price. However the home goods, bougey gifts and nice candles are just so pretty! The color palette for those items can be summarized in 3 words: pastels on fleek! I'm obsessed with their candles. I could be sniffing crack cocaine after work but nope... I'm at Anthropologie sniffing some candles. Well, some of them are just that amazing. It won't be hard to guess what I bought with my Anthropologie bday discount this year. Overall the store is just alright, but I can't ignore my Anthropologie candle obsession and their generous return policy - if I ever free myself of such addiction.
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
This Anthropologie is huge, but you know me, I dash straight to the sale section in the back. This is where the store falls flat - the sale room is this small narrow room stuffed with clothes. You can really only have one person in the aisle at any time so there's a lot of shoving and stepping aside. Also, the top rack is extremely high, so I often have difficulty grabbing the clothes there (or even putting them back for that matter). Clothes are a hit or miss here. 99.99% of the time I think the quality of the items at Anthropologie don't justify the price tag (over $100 for pants? uh), so usually I just hit the sales rack for the reason. I tried on a pair of red skinnies, but the lower part of the pant was too small for my athletic calves, boo. I saw some cute flowy tops in sale, but a lot of them were still pretty pricey - like minimum $40.00 for a top or something. Anthropologie carry some good brands here though, like leifsdottir, J. Brand, etc. -- but I still can't believe that these pieces were on average $100-$200! I can obviously afford this but I usually like to get a few quality pieces for total $100, not just one piece. I think the clothes they model here are best suited for the girly girl who's thin and tall.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
This Anthropologie is super huge, but what Anthro isn't. They have a petities section, but its pretty small..but at least it exists because the one on the UES doesn't! There's also no bridal section from what I saw. The sale section is pretty big, but picked over when I was there. Otherwise, this Anthro is mostly clothes, no heavy on the houseware section, but they do have a small shoe section in the back.

Sharon M.

Yelp
I am a loyal anthro shopper in Atlanta, NY and San Diego. I have always loved this location until yesterday they refused to honor my UP discount because they weren't familiar with it. It's extremely irritating to pay a membership fee for a loyalty discount and then have stores who aren't trained refuse to even look up information on their own website about it. Enrollment right now is in two states but the 15% on anything is supposed to be nationwide, so far that's been a joke. Not worth the hassle, especially at a location where they don't care if they piss off a loyal customer.

Djnyc L.

Yelp
The worst experience ever! I tried to return a dress bought online to this store. They refused returning saying it is final sale. The staff there is not nice. However it IS returnable since it is not a final sale item and I printed out the return slip. I called customer service online. They told me the store SHOULD take the return. The online staff emailed me the shipping label. I will ship it back. I should have read the reviews on yelp.

Yelp
Excellent location and love the fact that they have so many plus size options...happened to be there for a great sale & came out a winner!!! Looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in the city!!!

Yelp
Anthropologie is one of my happy places. Meaning I could be in the foulest of moods and manage to exit totally happy after a thorough perusal of their floor merchandise. This could happen even if I leave emptyhanded. Their stuff just makes me that happy. This particular Anthropologie can get hectic and crazy because it's in tourist central. And if there's a great sale going on, it really tests your patience. It was pretty empty today, Sunday, but regardless there was a slight wait at the dressing rooms and registers. Service was friendly. Meaning, it isn't always helpful and you have to persevere if you really want to answer to a question. Even if it's their job to know. If you're an Anthropologie-lover, you have to visit their flagship in downtown Philadelphia. I have yet to come across an Anthropologie quite as great as that one.
google avatar

Sharon T.

Yelp
I loved the window displays from this store! They designed it so nicely but too bad the clothing did not come cheap at all. Sure, the clothing was cute and a lot of the things were really unique but didn't really meet my standards. Maybe in a few years...
google avatar

Roksolana K.

Yelp
So this review has nothing to do with the clothing, but more to do with the diffusers. And to start this off, let me just say that I'm somewhat sensitive smells, and just like you, prefer nice smells. And thats why I went on my hunt for diffusers. Yes, you read correctly- diffusers are probably the best things to ever be created. Better than candles (imo). But anyway, I digress... I fell in love with the Japonica candle selection at Anthropologie. I haven't really found anything to compare, and I've tried them all. I stocked up on about three diffusers, and will certainly be back. The Anthropologie staff is always so helpful whenever I go, so I obviously will return.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
I LOVE anthropologie's style but nothing ever fits me in here. Their skirts are always about an inch or two too long--by lifting the skirt a little I can tell that it would look fine if it were just a bit shorter. The dresses are often a little tight around the hips because they assume very little hip to waist ratio. And pants, forget it. Their windows are like free art. I used to go here after orthodontist appointments just to see the upcycled masterpieces.
google avatar

Kassie H.

Yelp
Such a beautiful store with the nicest associates. This location has a ton of inventory!

Yelp
I love Anthropologie every time I visit this store I feel like I'm entering a whimsical garden filled with great fashion. I also must say everyone that works at this store is super friendly and super helpful, definitely made my experience here a great one.

Yelp
Love Anthropologie and love this location! I shop here probably too much for my own good. Make sure to regularly check the brand's website for in-store sales & the general in-store sale section as it is updated regularly (although quality is excellent, it can be fairly pricy and the sales really do help knock off some $). This location is large, clean and has a great selection. Staff has always been very helpful, whether it be ordering a size, holding items, giving honest opinions on how things look, or price matching if I return with an item that I purchased right before a sale. This Anthro has two floors of clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods. It does not have a BHLDN (bridal) department. However, if you are looking for that the UES carries these items. In my opinion the UES location is also really excellent.

Yelp
I'm always impressed with Anthro's window displays and artsy farsty touches in stores. If there was a way to contract any of these talented designers help my kinda artfully messy self organize art for a day, I'd do it. This location is enormous and has so many cool displays you'll kinda forget you're shopping and think you might have stepped into some cool art space. This multi-floor shop is not for those who want to get some quick shopping done, but rather for those who can meander around for the experience. Anthro prices are a little on the 3 - 4 $ sign in Yelp language, but the sale room is downstairs and offers up some great deals for quality products.

Yelp
Love Anthropologie, especially in the US because it is way cheaper than it is in the UK (for the exact same stuff). This branch is beautifully laid out and has a vast selection of items. I was able to pick up some curtain fixtures which had been discontinued in the UK for half the price at home, so was pleased! Check out the sale room downstairs!

Yelp
The store of all stores. Anthropologie has managed to bring two of my favorite things together, fashion and housewares! Their window displays are always whimsical, gorgeous and inviting. The style of clothes are usually very unique, and a true breath of fresh air in the midst of the monotony from surrounding brands (namely J. Crew and Banana). On a recent visit here, I was reminded of how much I truly enjoy and appreciate how they have procured a charming and vintage product line. It is especially fun to peruse their housewares section. They've amassed a ton of lovely hardware such as, beautifully embellished doorknobs, wall hooks, plates, glasses, candle holders, pillows, etc. It's nice to be able to come to a store and shop not only for clothes and accessories, but unexpectedly pick up a few nice things for your home as well. I like doing the girlie-girl thing while also being able to pick up a hammer and tack something onto a wall (I'd say most women can relate)! Anthrolpolgie has successfully tapped into those chords in a perfectly, perfectly feminine way. Not many stores I've been to, has been able to create this atmosphere as effectively as Anthropologie (Urban Outfitters is a distant second). For this reason, I have to award them 5 stars. (I would love, love, love to be a buyer for this place!!) This store's layout (as well as their other locations), is engaging and so well done, you almost forget that you probably can't afford to shop here often, because of the bloated price tags. Fortunately though, God save the sale section! The lower level has that little nook of a room, full of sale items. And if that's still too pricey for you (as it can be), you can just buy a book like I once did. Many years ago, when I was a lowly college intern, I nabbed a book of love quotes. Sweet little thing it turned out to be. All things aside, it's still fun to just come here even if all you do is look. Anthropologie is all full of eye candy.

Yelp
I was assaulted and held against my will by a girl who works there who accused me of shoplifting because I had a bag (which I purchased from there) and a pillow I brought in to match with other bedding. She approached me and asked for my receipts and naturally, I don't carry receipts around from everything I buy. We were on the lower level and my phone wasn't working so I suggested that I'd leave my pillow behind and she could come with me to see if I could find a copy of the receipt in my email. She then walkied for security and the police to be called and told the girl standing next to the glass door to close it. As I tried to walk past her, she grabbed my wrist and wouldn't let go. I managed to pull free and get out before the door closed as my fight or flight instinct kicked in. I sent several emails to Anthropologie who after two weeks put me in touch with the store manager. Over a criminal matter. What was she going to do, give me a 15% off coupon? They obviously don't take assault and false imprisonment of their customers very seriously. They left me with no other alternative but to hire an attorney to deal with this. They never even asked me to describe the girl who assaulted me (I have photos of my wrist burn and her nail marks), so she obviously isn't facing any repercussions. I'm a fashion blogger in NYC. I have thousands of readers. I would not jeopardize my career and livelihood. I have yet to take to other forms of social media linked to my blog and will wait to see how they respond to an attorney contacting them prior to doing so.

Yelp
The one star is for rude employees. I worked in retail and know the value of customer service. I hope someone reads this and takes note. I called to check on the size of a dress (I was hopefully going to have it held or sent). The first two people send me to someone else and then the third person hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on again. Since I didn't really speak to anyone I assume it wasn't my attitude!! I think because it was 15 minutes before closing..... There went a $300 sale.

Yelp
Stores like Anthropologie are the reason my mother wouldn't let me get a credit card until I was a fully independent adult and why I won't let myself get another credit card now. Because I could easily max out twenty cards here, stuffing every nook and cranny of my eensy weensy apartment with modern vintage wares and shoes and jewelry and scarves and clothes, clothes, clothes. This store is gorgeous (give it up for whoever designs those window displays!), clean, spacious, and there's always a friendly face to help if you need it. The dressing rooms are even cute. Sometimes it hurts to swipe the card when those numbers start to creep, but I've never ever been unhappy with a purchase I've made here. I started to reduce my trips to cheap and trendy places like H&M, where I found I was stocking up on shoddy clothes I didn't really care about. Instead, I focus on purchasing one or two pieces here that I know are unique and artistic and beautifully made. And that, kids, is what it means to grow up.
