Amazing evening and experience! The food is fantastic- elevated twists on some of the classic Emilia dishes. My husband had the squid ink pasta to start and the monkfish as a main. I had the tortellini in broth - which was a warm hug that I could eat every day. I had the veal cheek for a main. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef at the end of the evening. We can’t wait to return!

Absolutely fantastic! The creative 5 course menu with wine accompaniment was excellent, service highly attentive and wines of high quality. Nonna Anna Maria also came to say Hello to all of the guests during the dinner and she is really a very warm person - still taking care of the processes in the kitchen! We would love to come back and fully recommend this wonderful place!

Fantastic in every way. We weren’t expecting it, and it turned out to be an unforgettable surprise. The service was warm yet professional, beautiful room and atmosphere, and the food exceptional. We met Chef Anna Maria who stepped out of the kitchen to say goodbye as we were leaving, a humble superstar. An outstanding restaurant, truly Michelin-worthy.

Lovely staff! Lovely atmosphere, lovely chef! It was a bit warm so the air conditioning could be better, but the greetings were second to none! The food was average really. I couldn’t understand the meals either, one minute it was desert and I thought that it would be finished, the other minute I would get another main! So the order was a bit strange for me. It will be lovely experience, but I guess solely for food there should be better places. They also did their best in altering the food to my wife’s condition. So full marks for the attitude.

Giving it 5 stars for AMAZING food and white glove service! Everything we tried was delicious. The staff had a well coordinated rhythm down of service constantly bringing us additional bread and moving rather swiftly between courses. The 3 additional treats from the chef were also a lovely touch and the staff were well trained in white glove service. Felt very pampered. The only critiques were: 1) It took 30 min to get the bill from we asked and only got it because we asked again and by 10:30pm on a Sun, after 4 courses, we were super ready to go 2) They did the old school patriarchal thing of handing the lady a different menu that didn't have prices. My menu had a picture of a lady on it and my husband's a man so they knew which menu to give to whom. I mean really? I kept thinking I should pay to make a point but then to my GREAT delight the lady at the table next to us paid for her and her male date. 3) All parties had to choose the same tasting menu if you wanted to order a tasting menu but my husband and i have different dietary restrictions so that was a bummer. However would definitely go back next time we are in Modena. The last time we tried their takeout menu in an AirBNB with our kids and it was also DELICIOUS!!!!! Great fancy date night/special occasion/Michelin like experience !

It was amazing. Beautiful decoration and ambience. The friendly and knowledgeable staff make you feel at home right away. The menu items are so beautifully presented and taste amazing. The wine selection is great and if your favorite bottle is sold out, the sommelier will suggest something great instead (we wanted Quarz but got advised on a beautiful alternative). To describe our experience: phenomenal and unforgettable through and through. We had to go a second time while we were in the region because we liked it so much. The highlight was when the head chef (a tipical Italian grandma) stepped out of the kitchen and greeted us after. I’m a chef myself and I applaud her for her talent especially on this level and at this age. Wow. I even took a picture with her and she wished me good luck for my future cooking experiences at home. We will never forget it and when we come back to bologna Antica moka will be our first stop.

Amazing seafood tasting menu (Tutti al Mare) and a well thought (and very generous) wine pairing. Friendly and polite staff - I even got to meet the chef, Anna Maria!

We had dinner with family at this nice restaurant and had a very pleasant experience. We took the menu La nostra tradizione - typical Emilia Romagna dishes. The food was delicious, the ambient is very nice, proffesional waiters, they took care of all our dietary restrictions … all in all a 5 star restaurant.

Passion and tradition is their motto. We would never have encountered this wonderful experience if not recommended by Casa Maria Luigia. All the servers are women dressed in dark suit except their son. Amazing food and service. The vegetable pie is a must try! We wished we had a chance to go back before we headed back to Bologna. The beauty of their stories is that they can be told to taste each time..........it was just that good!

Driving down from Milan Malpensa to Tuscany we decided to stop in Modena to enjoy our first meal in Italy. Coming here was a great decision. We opted for the restaurant's "our tradition" tasting menu, highlights of which include the Ragu and Tortellini which were fantastic. The real star here however was their optional wine pairing with at €25 was so much fun and totally worth it. Looking back would have loved for one of us to try their "all at sea" menu. Guess there is always next time.

I was visiting Italy with my husband staying in Modena and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel. I have to say this was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The restaurant is beautifully decorated the service is great and at the end the chef comes up to greet and thank the guests. From the appetizers to the main course to the pallet cleanser everything was just perfect.

Italian perfection! We loved every bite and felt well looked after. The pasta was very fresh. We really enjoyed the sea bass as well.
