"The name seems to originate from the broken horseshoe (ronchetto) of Napoleon, who in 1800 appears to have stayed the night here, where there was indeed a post house where horses were shoed. Later converted into a bakery, butcher’s shop, but also a trattoria with an annexed bowling alley, today it is a restaurant of rustic elegance; the regional cuisine expresses itself in specialties such as fried brains and the ever-present Milanese-style cutlet that here becomes even “imperial”, definitely to be shared." - Michelin Inspector

A fabulous restaurant just outside of Milan - well worth the 20min drive to get here. One of the best food experiences I’ve had when travelling, everything was cooked to perfection - we had the meatballs, osso bucco with risotto, rossini with port wine and truffles, and chocolate mousse/zabaione for dessert. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic food experience in Milan. The service was impeccable as well!

Antica Osteria Il Ronchettino is an absolute gem tucked away in Milan, offering a truly authentic Italian dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for the evening. The real highlight, however, is the sommelier, who is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wine. They take the time to explain each selection in detail and perfectly pair it with your meal, elevating the entire dining experience. We were so impressed that we visited twice during our stay. The first time, we had the steak tartare, cotoletta, and ossobuco, all paired with excellent wine chosen by the sommelier. Each dish was prepared to perfection, with the flavors balanced and rich. The steak tartare was fresh and flavorful, the cotoletta was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the ossobuco was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We enjoyed our meal so much that we had to return a second time. On our next visit, we ordered the cotoletta and ossobuco again, but also tried their pasta with ragù. The ragù was nothing short of amazing, with a depth of flavor that truly impressed us. Antica Osteria Il Ronchettino has easily become one of our favorite spots in Milan. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is an absolute must for top-quality food, excellent wine, and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

The owner of the apartment I rented recommended them to me. I am a tourist coming from Saudi Arabia. I don’t know whether to talk about the delicious and filling food or about the kindness of the Italians and the beauty of talking to them. I wish I could spend more time with them, but of course they have work. They are really nice, and their food is similar to Saudi food. Milan is wonderful and everything in it is beautiful. Their tiramisu is incredible.

A traditional Milanese restaurant with a pleasant, almost rustic atmosphere. Very professional service. Detailed explanations of the wines, though perhaps a bit lengthy. Very good food, although the menu is somewhat limited. The price is high for the area, but in line with the quality of the food.

If I could give a 0 I would. I had a reservation booked online for 14:30. They called me at 14:29 and told me that because I am late they can’t accomodate me because the kitchen is closing. At 14:34 I arrived and they said there’s nothing they can do. I have never experienced this in my life. At that point I had no alternative for lunch due to what time it was. I have been late to a doctor’s appointment more than 4 minutes, at a restaurant I have never experienced such a service! They just wanted to close early so they can go on their break earlier because they are lazy!!!!

We walked in here on a hunch that it would be a fantastic place and my Lord we were not disappointed. Although normally you would definitely need to make a reservation we were lucky that there was a table availae. As the menu was fully Italian the waiter selected all the dishes for us with some of the absolute classics as the ossobuco with risotto and the coteletta Milanese. What a rewarding experience was this. Will come again.

Simply the best Osteria Milanese in town. The menu includes all main dishes from Milan tradition with some innovation. I really recommend the cotoletta milanese and risotto alla milanese. The location is really cozy with multiple rooms in old style. Prices are in line with the offer. The location is in south Milan, outside of the city center so it is required a car to get there.
