Antico Leon d'Oro

They had a really nice garden. To bad the food wasn’t the best. The ham and cheese platter was really good but served with plastic between the food and the nice platter. The ”primi” took 30 minutes to get. The tortellini was good but only four pieces. The gnocchi was so and so, see picture. For ”secondi” we had veal that was so and so. Trilogy was good. The ice cream in the end was very good!

My favorite restaurant in the world – and I’ve been to lots of places. We first visited Cividale last year, and this place was one of the main reasons I wanted to come back this year. We ate here every single day. The service, the food, the atmosphere – everything is amazing. I can only speak about it in superlatives. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it.❤️

Very nice place, but the food was unfortunately just standard. As a side dish you get exactly seven small pieces of potato. Otherwise they have excellent wine which they serve expertly.

Excellent food & service. Very nice setup, both inside & outside. Atmosphere was great and we could enjoy a quiet table in a smaller room (still well-decorated). Starting with the cheese & prosciutto platter, combined with the wine, followed by wild boar main courses. To finish the feast, home made gelato fior di latte covered by berry fruits with cappuccino. I starred the place to get back on our next vacations.

We like the whole region very much, but this restaurant is real jewel. Cividale del Friuli is famous for it's peacefull envirement, and lack of tourists, and Antico Leon d'Oro is the crown of this kingdom. The service is friendly like you are a part of the family, and the garden of the restaurant is chill and cute. This was our 2nd year visiting them, and this time we ate there a launch and a dinner on the same day, and another dinner next day. They are selecting the wines and grappas carefully, and the cherry on top is the good itself. Althought the prices are not the lowest, but trust me, it worth every penny spending there. The Michelin guide says 1 star to visit a place on the way, 2 stars to go extra miles on your journey to visit a place, and 3 stars to make a journey based on a restaurant. Me and my girlfriend were discussing about buying our home here to be as close as possible to Antico Leon d'Oro. What is that? 4 stars? :) It's a must. You should try it once!

Everything was amazing. Home made pasta with smoked ricotta, asparagus gnocchi with local toasted prosciutto, lamb and roasted potatoes, warm polenta with local cheese “ fondue”, homemade crepe with amazing filling with hazelnut sauce. Everything homemade. Incredible experience of local cuisine in a beautiful setting. Warm service. Don’t miss it!

The most amazing food with superb, and friendly service, a really nice place with fair prices. They know what they are doing with flavours. Lovey local wine to add to that too.
