"Waltham spot Antojitos Cafe, whose apt name means “snacks,” serves exceptional tacos al pastor on homemade tortillas that are almost bite–sized. The pork and onions are chopped more roughly here, making for a different (but pleasant) textural experience than most tacos al pastor. Antojitos Cafe is open for indoor dining and takeout." - Samer Khudairi

Delicious, each bite made my mouth happy 2 thumbs up for breakfast burrito

I have been there for breakfast. The steak and eggs and rice and beans are my favorite. Comes with queijo fresco and avocado...delicious.

Let's just say pizza from a 7 Eleven store, which I bought recently, tasted more like pizza for frozen pizza, than Antojitos cafe's pizza. The pizza looked and tasted like cardboard, there were no cheese at all and you could actually count the five piece of pepperonie and how they were place. After a bite, I spitted it out immediatly and ended up returning to show it to them to let them be aware of their mistakes. They acted rude and offensive; if one can't take a critic, then you are in the wrong business. I know things are expensive nowadays, but we, the customers, are also doing our share as to pay more as well. I am just glad I didn't buy a whole pizza as they are very pricey , otherwise, I would ended up regretting it. If you need a good pizza, go to Alexander's in Lexington, you will not regret it.

There is no better breakfast place in Waltham. Cash only, they have an ATM. Don't speak Spanish? Don't worry! The menu is all photos - just point to what you want and it will be fantastic.

Google
Just sat at the counter and let my eyes order for me by requesting what the stranger next to me was eating. I ended up with two chicken gorditas, they are unbelievable! My new lunch spot whenever I'm working nearby!

Chris MacGregor

Google
Antojitos offers great breakfast and lunch! Delicious El Salvadorean and Guatemalan dishes, large portions, very reasonably priced. Cash only.

Our favorite Mexican place. Satisfied as usual!

Yelp
Very good Mexican food in Waltham. I personally love the tacos or quesadillas. The hot sauce has some heat so be prepared!

Angie P.

Yelp
The food was really good! Super authentic but there's not much of a place to eat inside so if you're going it's pretty much strictly take out. It's cash only and they speak English ish. I got a burrito that was absolutely fantastic. The prices are a little expensive but it's super filling and really good quality.

Doc L.

Yelp
We had the tacos and loved both the Al Pastor and Carnitas. The food was fresh and tasted great! The prices were fair and the service was adequate (I speak Spanish).

Arto D.

Yelp
Please do not believe the bad review I saw from another. Place is absolutely perfect. Great food great service full of flavor. Real south American people serving real deal food. Not a big deal it is only cash, it is so reasonable we all have that amount on us anyways. Definitely a place to visit often and enjoy yummy breakfast and lunch!!

Zed E.

Yelp
phenomenal food! the service is amazing, and i love the way the restaurant looks. check this place out for breakfast/lunch. i love the ambiance here, it's really a welcoming environment.

Yelp
Chilaquiles verde was bomb! Definitely spicy but great. Everything we had was delicious!

Yelp
Yummy and cheap El Salvadorian food on Moody St! (They also have several typical Mexican dishes). This place focuses on breakfast and lunch, opening early (7am) and closing midday (2pm). We like to come here for the pupusas and gorditas. Both are very well made and fresh. The pupusa choices are either cheese & carnitas or cheese & loroco (herbs). Both are great options. They come with a little baggie of dressed cabbage and a small serving of hot sauce, both customarily served with the dish. The gordita comes with lettuce, tomato, beans, and your meat of choice. We typically fill up on one pupusa and gordita, which ends up being just over $5 per person! Tips: This place is cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. Pupusas are handmade, so they take a little longer to come out, so keep that in mind. There is a paid parking lot around the corner of the restaurant. $1 gives you 2 hr.

Yelp
I just had a very tasty adobado taco here cooked expertly. Unfortunately I had two chocolate chip cookies from moodys provision before entering and feel quite full. Because this taco is very comforting. No frills place with reasonable prices and latin american restaurant staples.

Christinne V.

Yelp
Looks authentic but very bland tacos. Had one beef, one chicken, and one pork. Each taco coated $2.50 each but with the cost of added cheese... it totaled $9.63. Look at the picture... where is the cheese? First complaint is that its MEH and secondly, what a rip off. Thanks for the sprinkle of nothing. The rating of 4 stars brought me in... but it's my 2 star rating that'll keep me from coming back. Oh FYI.... this place is cash only.

Hungrytommy ..

Yelp
Tiny little "hole in the wall" for Guatemalan and Salvadoran food. Small but excellent menu. Everything is prepared to order and comes out piping hot! Highly recommend pork tacos, carne asada, and pupusas. They make their own hot sauce with habaneros and it is insanely hot, and so so good! They speak very little English but are extremely friendly. Cash only though there is an ATM on site.

Em R.

Yelp
Affordable, quick-to-grab, great Mexican place on Moody St.! Can't go wrong with their tacos, burritos, or gorditas. My typical order is 2 chicken tacos with a steak gordita. The place is quite tiny, so I'd recommend getting a to-go from here. Tip: this place only accepts cash, so make sure you have some cash handy when you come here.

Maria D.

Yelp
Small little place that I had no clue was so close to me! I got the chicken Gorditas and my boyfriend got the beef ones. The food was very simple but good. Going back I would stick to the beef Gorditas however because they had more flavor. Everyone has even talking about the pupusas. I was interested to try them but wasn't exactly sure what it is? Prices were pretty reasonable and service was pleasant. Food too a little longer than expected but you could see the woman in the back making the tortillas from scratch. I would definitely go back to see what other food is available. I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't object to that plan!

Carrie R.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic, small restaurant to get a real taste of Latin flavor, you'll definitely enjoy Antojito's! They only accept cash but there's an ATM located conveniently inside so don't let that scare you away. On the menu, there's a ton of delicious items but I always recommend going for the pupusas! You can get cheese only if you're not feeling too adventurous or (my favorite) revuelta with pork and cheese. And don't be shy, add the cabbage and red tomato sauce on top then pick it up (with your hands) and enjoy. The only thing that gets a bit disappointing about the eating experience is that they don't offer any desserts. But, you can always order one of their delicious orchard drinks (rice milk + cinnamon) to satisfy your sweet tooth.

StriperGu Y.

Yelp
Just had lunch there. Seriously the food is so good it just makes me happy. Had two of the Carne Asada plates which are just glorious. Large perfectly marinated steaks with a yummy charcoal char. My dining companion swears that the rice and beans are the best anywhere in Boston. pretty sure I agree ;-). The homemade tortillas are homey perfection. My all-time favorite are the Gorditas particularly the carne adobada... pork in an amazing marinade. The horchata is great. The owners and staff are very sweet. Might just be my favorite restaurant in Boston. One reminder they don't accept credit cards.

Erika M.

Yelp
Pupusas, Huevos con chorizo and everything else is the best homemade food around here, fast and not much money the salsas are the best I highly recommend this Restaurant. Thank you, the service is fast and professional.

Umar H.

Yelp
Antojitos is still a favorite of mine when I come to Waltham. A divey Mexican restaurant, they serve some of the best Huevos Rancheros around. The tomatillo sauce is perfectly spicy and on point and the guacamole is delicious. The food is great, it's cheap, and you get a lot for the value. Keep in mind the place is cash only. They do have an ATM inside.

Iris I.

Yelp
So delicious! They close early so come early. And only cash! Gorditas are so good! Quesadilla is huge!! The ladies in their are so nice!

Annie V.

Yelp
Great platanos con creama. Pupusas very good, not greasy. Salsa is incipid. Tacos (had 1 chicken, 1 pork) are something to skip. Not sure why they offer tacos if they are going to be this mediocre.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
This was by a landslide the most disgusting "breakfast " on a plate that I have ever had put before me. I brought my family member visiting from out of state who is himself Mexican, and we couldn't even identify two of the items on the plate. Too be perfectly honest, we believe that one of those items was supposed to be beans, but whatever it was was a thin layer of some dark brown sludge substance that only moved on the plate as one full slick together, and didn't separate properly when inserting a fork in or on it. It's very difficult to explain, and I am not being overly dramatic stating that it looked like something you would see in a toilet in a rest stop somewhere before closing the stall and going to another stall. The eggs were the only thing on the plate that he ate, and they were swimmmmming in some sort of greasy slick, sliding off of his fork. After he ate the eggs with a tortilla shoved up on the side of the fork so they didn't keep sliding off, there was still a massive discolored oil slick of some sort swimming on the plate that wasn't permeating the brown sludge representing the place of maybe beans without beans in it, It was disgusting. When the rest of his plate wasn't even touched/eaten, the waitress didn't flinch taking it away, and didn't ask him if it was okay or if there was a problem. My breakfast sandwich was made with recognizable store bought PACKAGED cheap ham and sone sort of fake cheese. In hindsight, we would have paid for his drink and left the food on the table though I have never done so before anywhere, so we stayed I guess sort of out of disbelief. To say this was gross is a staunch understatement. I told him he should have taken a picture of it to send to his siblings so they could be grossed out too, but he grimaced at the thought of sending it to them. It does not only misrepresent a real Mexican food establishment, more importantly it misrepresents food for human consumption. A couple behind us at a table had the same look of disbelief when their food was put in front of them as well. On a less important side note, because nothing is worse than the food, the menu is unlike any other. It is 90% photos laid out for you to point at what you want. There is a tiny print of a partial description, but most is either very small and faint in color, or printed in a light font over the small picture. It was bizarre. Regardless, I have given this place one star only because it is the lowest score possible to give. If I were going to another restaurant on Moody Street and saw someone about to go inside, I would warn them against it, it was that disgusting. I'm honestly amazed that they have stayed open. We are still feeling gross having been in there hours later, and came home to make something edible. STAY AWAY and save yourselves. For anyone to come back a second time, and there must be some that do if it's still open, we can't comprehend why they would do that to themselves. Seriously. We went last week to a place in Waltham that was called Taqueria Mexico, and if you're looking for a Mexican breakfast (or otherwise) even though it opens late, at least try there and completely steer clear of this place. The other reviews here, if real, we don't remotely understand how anyone gave it any remotely decent review. So so gross. This is only the third review I believe I have ever bothered posting for anywhere, and the other two reviews were four and five stars respectively, just so you understand that I took the time to post this review in the hopes that it will save anyone else from walking in here.

Victoria I.

Yelp
This restaurant is really cheap with their portions. Very miserable portions!! I asked them for tomatoes on my tacos and they declined to add them in. They said that tacos usually don't have tomatoes. I love tomatoes. How dare you say no. Anyways!! First of all, I am paying for my food so add it! Im not asking for free food. Then when I come in, they give me pico de gallo and charged my $1.75 for a small amount in a medium container. What a rip off. Plus customer service sucks! Want real food?! To go Taqueria El Amigo!!! Bomb ass tacos! And they listen to you and add whatever you want!!

Tatsu I.

Yelp
Corn Cravings Antojitos Cafe, despite lackluster appointments, is a appropriate introduction to the fundamentals of corn/masa/hominy snack foods of Latin America, particularly Mexico. Authentic, but not bracingly foreign, the warm helpful service will happily guide you. The room resembles an old-time 1950's coffee shop or lunch counter, despite being renovated in 2011. A wooden top bar, stools and coffee vacuum pots are at the ready, while white linoleum clad tables and padded function hall chairs in institution leatherette black fill out the seating area. The floor is covered by palomino colored self-adhesive tiles of textured loop carpet, curious. Very homey, in an unfinished basement sort of way and the carpet tiles are starting to lift away already. Never the less, everything was very clean and in fact the funny carpet tiles were fastidiously swept while I ate. The word Antojitos itself is Mexican for light snacky type of foods, and these Chicharron, Chilaquiles, Gorditas, Tacos, Tortas, and Pupusas are done very well, as nice as any of nearby Latin American places up and down Moody Street. But they also offer up combo plates, a cheaper, as if this wasn't inexpensive enough, way to sample a variety. Rounded out by a few Huevos and Breakfast Burrito plates, as well as ongoing specials, plus basic "New England" Coffee, and you have the entire menu. Very simple, very well done, very corn based. Because the service is so friendly, in a genuine way, the housemade Green Salsa served maple syrup dispensers and Curtido slaw served in a big "help yourself" water bottle with a Tablespoon in it are unintentionally homey touches. Great for breakfast, when a light meal of say, Zucchini Flower Blossom Pupusas and a cup of coffee is all you need to start your day.

Tyler Q.

Yelp
One word to describe those place... authentic. I am very impressed with the quality of food here.

Eric L.

Yelp
Reading the other reviews you would think this was the mecca of Central American cuisine. You've got to love the recolonization and anglo-fying by purported "experts" testifying to the authenticity of the food. Mediocre at best. My pupusas were both over cooked and under stuffed. The pork was dry and brittle, lacking flavor. I've experienced better at other restaurants and in the comfort of my own home. It was 12:30 and they were out of "cheese" which was just shocking. Service was slow, both waitstaff and cook. My companion was insulted by the stereotyping as she is Spanish and they refused to converse with her in English, despite her best attempts. Sure, if you want to feel cool because you ate a dingy place with mediocre food and pretend you're somehow connected to the culture you can give this place 5 stars. I wish I could go 1.5.

Joseph R.

Yelp
"Dollar tacos" was really the only thing we needed to see when we were wandering around trying to figure out where to have lunch. The place itself is like a cafe mated with a taqueria; they have New England coffee and the aforementioned inexpensive tacos. The taste though, it is amazing. I just had the pork tacos and I can scarcely think of a place that had better tasting pork. I'm not sure what psychotropic drug is in it that makes it taste so amazing, but we'll absolutely be back for more.

christopher b.

Yelp
We are west coast transplants and have a built in craving for inexpensive authentic tacos. This place is it. And don't even get me started on the papusas. Amazing. Cash only and don't forget to tip. She deserves it. (she's only open Tues through Saturdays until 7pm and the phone numbers listed don't work!)

Lauren H.

Yelp
Wow! I love hole in the wall restaurants with a great menu. They have a very small menu but what they make is phenomenal. I split a combo plate of gorditas and papusas with a friend. A lot of food for $10 and really really really, did I say really? good. The staff was very helpful because we didn't know what we were doing in there, and basically had them pick the food for us. Inexpensive, tasty, and new experience. You must try this place.

Roxanne B.

Yelp
This coffee shop has the most ridiculously nice owner ever. (At least I think she was the owner) Anyway, I started going there when it first opened and was immediately blown away by how welcoming the place was. At first they only had breakfast/lunch items, coffee and desserts, but have since expanded. They take their time prepping your coffee, making sure it is just sweet enough, and let me tell you, it's pretty much the most perfect cup of coffee and she puts the milk/sugar in for you, and somehow just knows the right way to do it. But besides the tasty coffee and food stuffs - these are just genuinely nice people. I worked a block from here at a Day Habilitation program for Adults with Disabilities, and one day figured I would bring a few of my folks to grab some coffee and a snack. They were just wonderful to my guys - which is not a common reaction - but they treated them like stars. I can't say enough about how nice they were to me and the folks I work with, I try to stop there as often as possible, but since moving to Brighton haven't gotten their often enough. So step it up Waltham-ians, you've got a real gem of a coffee shop right on the corner of Maple and Moody.

Nicole B.

Yelp
$1 chicken tacos. Love the cheese & pork pupusas.

Lynne B.

Yelp
I really, really wanted to like this place. Horrible, flavorless dry chicken tacos - what good is the $1 price point if they are terrible? Kept piling on the sauces for flavor (the red one is very bland & flavorless). The pupusas were just OK - but at least there was a bit of masa flavor in those, rather than... no flavor. Think I was charged too much, too, but with all we ordered (and no written bill to look at), I just let it pass. Next time - I'm the one who'll pass on this place!!!

Tasha M.

Yelp
A great under the radar place for brunch. We had delicious and fresh huevos rancheros: perfect eggs over easy with a great salsa, refried black beans, platanos maduros, piping hot corn tortillas, sour cream, fresh cheese, and a slice of avocado. Filling without being too much, and cheap! Our waitress was friendly and bilingual, so check them out even if you aren't familiar with the cuisine or don't speak Spanish.

John C.

Yelp
Love this place. So cheap and tasty. It's also authentic. The wait staff barely speak English and it has a homely feel to it. The gordita's are out of this world. Forget about taco bell and that garbage, this is where it's at.

Mark D.

Yelp
I love this place. It's tucked away, I love the ambience and the chicken tacos are my favorite. What I like most of all: I'm left alone. They're not asking me every five minutes while I have food in my mouth how everything is.

David F.

Yelp
You wouldn't know it by glancing at it, but this small, slightly hole-in-the wall-looking place really stands out as a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot among the many eateries on Moody St., and in many ways. First, and most important, the food is terrific. It's mostly Central American and Mexican comfort food, a good mix of the familiar and the less typical, and everything I've had there has been fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The gorditas and pupusas are simply outstanding, and the many egg dishes are done just right--I'm always amazed and disappointed at how many joints that specialize in breakfast and brunch often can't get eggs right, but in my experience that's not a problem here. The service is fast, friendly and helpful. The place is a little cramped and often busy, but that mostly serves to create a pleasantly noisy, social and warm vibe, and it's altogether a comfortable spot--everyone seems happy to be here. Meanwhile, the prices make meals here a steal.

Sean C.

Yelp
Best $1 Chicken Tacos in town hands down! Very friendly service as well. Oh, and free wi-fi what!

Nan A.

Yelp
Had my first Gordita here today. The owner guided me well through the menu almost entirely written in Spanish. Very satisfying meal. I know I'll be back for more.

Lauren D.

Yelp
The food is delicious - absolutely delicious - but the atmosphere is making me want to tear my hair out. The employees' children are absolutely BLASTING games and music in the seating area, and there is no escaping the noise. Combined with noisy chatter, it is unreasonably loud in here....The layout of the menu is also difficult to read, and there are several items on the menu that they appear to not have. That said: the pork and cheese pupusas are outstanding....why they served me the cabbage in a sandwich baggie and the sauce in a lidded cup for a "for here" order, however, I'll never know. Perhaps get the food to go?

Victoria P.

Yelp
Cheap, delicious tacos and papusas. What more can you ask for? I usually go for 1 steak taco, 1 pork taco, and 1 pork (or cheese) papusa - all for less than 8 bucks. I'd avoid the chicken taco because the chicken tends to be dry, but the steak and pork are awesome. For those of you who haven't experienced a papusa - it's a delicious tortilla filled with cheese or pork and then fried on each side. It's by no means healthy, but it's freakin delicious. This place can get busy during lunch so I recommend calling ahead and getting it to-go.

Tina o.

Yelp
The worst tacos EVER! I ordered the chicken taco but there was no chicken in it! None!! They also did not taste anything like the ones I have had in other Mexican restaurants. Do not waste your time or money. Also, cash only. First time is my last time!

Ari P.

Yelp
Pupusas, Gorditas, and Tacos, Oh my! Dollar. Tacos. I'm not going to pretend to be any kind of expert on South American fare, all I know is that cheap and delicious go a long way in my book, and this place hits it on the mark. This place does it up way different than Taq Mex, and is light years from Habaneros despite being across the street. The pork and cheese pupusas are out of this world, but the gordita was a little less stellar, only because the tortilla was a touch hard on the edges. For a $7 lunch though, it was more than adequate. Just wish it was open late night, so many cravings. The staff are really awesome and friendly, and while there is a slight language barrier, capitalism reigns enough that pointing at the menu options will get you what you want. In the meantime, YouTube music videos were playing on the screen next to the counter, and I felt like a true Salvadoreno.

Michael H.

Yelp
It's a small place that makes basically only burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. It's good stuff and I get lunch here often. Their burrito "with everything" comes with sour cream, guacamole, and a black bean mash (which is good, you'll like it).

Jeff A.

Yelp
We usually go to this place at least once a week and the People are really Friendly, I love the chilaquiles, gorditas and huevos con chorizo.

Maitreya D.

Yelp
Had a brilliant time. So my mates and I went for lunch and ended up with enough food inside us to last us till breakfast the following day! Great food and very polite service. Food came within 6-7 short minutes! A delightful little place in Waltham!

Todd V.

Yelp
We came in because we saw the World Cup game on TV, and stayed past the game because of the food and service. I tried the chilaquiles and LOVED the dish -- tangy sauce, crispy chips, good Mexican-style crema. The coffee (New England Coffee) was very good (no espresso though). The service was excellent, the wi-fi free and the food on-par or better than many of the nicer Mexican restaurants in the Boston area (which are, for the record, getting better). I'll be back!

Justin W.

Yelp
Food was decent, but the prices were great. Basically a low budget Mexican diner. No knock on the food, just nothing special. I'd still prefer to eat at the Taqueria down the street.

B L.

Yelp
Really not sure why this place is getting so much yelp love. The tacos are meh at best, and the place is fucking filthy! All dirty tables and partially broken furniture. I know yuppies love the irony of dives but this place was just a shit-hole. In addition- its very cheap prices seem to attract some of Waltham's finest weirdos, including at least 1 junkie. I know junkies need to eat too- so I'll let them have Antojitos and I'll stick with Tacoria. There is no comparison.

Kaiserin S.

Yelp
Their beef tacos and pork tacos are just FABULOUS! This is not somewhere you go if you want the hostess to come and make pleasant small talk with you, you go here for the food and that's it. Their food is delicious. Their tacos put Margaritas down the street to shame. There are just two people working there: the cook and the lady at the counter who takes the orders. Please leave a tip in the tip jar; they really deserve it.

David Y.

Yelp
Rosa serves up limited Guatemalan fare with a smile. The place is humble and the food pretty much follows it. Simple and basic but good. The papusas had a little too much cheese for my liking but I'm glad they served them with curtido relish and salsa which they hadn't before. The chicken tacos were great, nice lean chicken on two corn tortillas with lettuce and tomatos. For $1.50 papusas and $1 tacos, it makes for a perfect and cheap lunch. They've also got Mexican coke with real cane sugar. The food does take quite a bit of time to receive but is always served up hot. Rosa had some difficulty ringing up my bill. I'm convinced she overcharged me $2 on a $11 bill but I'm ok with letting it slide at a place like this.

Amy C.

Yelp
You can't get much better than their dollar chicken tacos. The zucchini blossom papusa was delish and I love the sauces that accompany it. Extremely friendly service. Sadly, they did not have gorditas today but I will be back to try them. Cheap, filling and tasty lunch!!
