"Anton SV Pâtisserie, San Mateo’s new grab-and-go patisserie, serves a selection of macarons, tarts, panna cotta, and crepe cakes in flavors like matcha and black sesame, according to Palo Alto Online. The patisserie will begin serving espresso drinks in the coming weeks, too." - Justine Jones

Don't listen to the negative reviews, go to Anton's and experience the crepe cake yourself. Just go!! I didn't think a piece of cake could be worth $8 until I tried it here. Oh my goodness!! The Hokkaido milk crepe cake is life changing!! There is nothing else like it. I'm going to request it for my birthday and any other special occasion I can think of! The panna cotta is also very good. And everything is packaged beautifully. I don't know what the grumpy reviewers are talking about, the service every time I visited is very friendly.

Cute, bright and clean interior. Server was informative and friendly. I ordered 2 pcs to go - Hokkaido and Sesame Mille Cakes. They are not overly sweet, but leaves you with a light and satisfying feeling. A little pricy but worth it for a special treat.

A bit disappointed on the fruit tart. The blueberries and the grapes are definitely not fresh. I would not recommend getting fruit tart from here. It used to be really good at their South Bay location.

My boyfriend got me a cake from here for my birthday. It was soo good! Not too sweet and so rich and creamy with unique flavors that harken to its Asian roots. The layers were stacked so delicately. We got the black sesame flavor. A little pricey but the soft opening promo was nice and it was worth it as a special treat.

I've known Anton since before they had a physical location(s) and tbh initially I preferred Lady M over Anton because Lady M feels creamier and tastier at that time. That was also before Laday M came to NorCal so I had to bring back from NYC or LA. I got email notification that Anton opened a physical store in San Mateo earlier this month and for my birthday I decided to try Anton again. I ordered the Holiday Special Chocolate Cake and picked up on my birthday. I was actually blown away by how good it tasted. I actually prefer Anton over Lady M now because I like that it's less sweet and less creamy because it allowed me to taste the multiple layers better than being overwhelmed by the cream between the layers. I think I'll go Anton going forward. Of course the price is high even with a discount and the cake is not super big but I think it's perfect because you don't want to eat the cake in multiple settings. It's much better to finish one cake at a time and I like the sizing. Overall it's the go to place for millicrapes in the Bay Area. The service is good when picking up the cake. The location is small though so don't expect to eat a cake there. This used to be where Tong Sui was before they moved so it's right next to the Caltrain station and the parking structure.

My hubby and I have been fans of Anton Patisserie since March 2023, regularly ordering from their San Jose location through UberEats. We had one in-person experience there that was less than ideal due to the staff’s lack of enthusiasm, so we were hopeful that the opening of their new San Mateo location would bring a fresh vibe. Sadly, we noticed the same lackluster attitude from the staff at this new spot, even though it’s still the opening month. A simple welcome was given, but no mention of the 20% promo running through the month or the loyalty sign-up gift (a mango panna cotta). I had seen the promotion on their Instagram and just wanted to confirm it, but it would’ve been nice if the staff had mentioned it in their welcome greeting. The panna cotta was a nice gesture for joining the loyalty program, but since we’re allergic to mango, we couldn’t choose a different flavor like matcha. Still, a freebie is a freebie, so we appreciated it regardless! The Pros: One of the best new features is the loyalty program! The sign-up asked for details like address, zip code, and even where employed ( i guess this part is real specific to learn where to go for collaborations or just to get more detailed customer pool info) The Anton Sighting: On the way to the store, we got a glimpse of Anton himself! He looked cheerful and friendly, and even smiled at us warmly as we passed by. It was such a memorable moment—one of those little things that makes you feel more connected to a place. The Cake: We got 2 slices of the Hokkaido Mille Crepe. The weather was on the cooler side (around 60°F), so we were surprised to find both slices melting at the base. With no seating at the store, we enjoyed it nearby at Jamba Juice. Despite the texture, the cake’s taste was as good as we remembered. Overall Recommendation: Anton’s passion clearly shines through, but we hope his staff could bring a bit of that warmth to their service. It would make such a difference if the customer service matched the vibe we got from Anton himself.

Really good crepe cakes but absolutely loved the panna cotta! Great service and the packaging is so pretty!

Google
4.5 stars for the matcha marron tart - excellent balance of flavors, with each component coming through clearly. I particularly liked the whole chestnut inside. Only slight miss was the tart shell, which was very slightly underdone. Surprisingly, the matcha mille crepe was a little off - too much matcha powder, leaving a mealy feeling in the mouth (and likely too bitter for most folks). The crepe layers were nicely done though, so 3.5 for the cake. Overall, averaging it out to a 4.

Yelp
Finally get to try Anton! I bookmarked their SJ location for a long time but never got a chance. So glad they opened in San Mateo! We tried the Best seller - Hokkaido milk , Must Try- Chocolate Tart and the monthly special- Tres Leche Mille crepe. I'm usually not a crepe cake person! But I still want to try different places to see if one day I would love crepe cakes. And I think I've found the place that changed my view on crepe cakes!! Anton's crepe cakes are so soft and not dry! The crepe and cream blend well together. It's the best crepe cake I've ever had! Tres Leche was sweeter than Hokkaido, so I prefer Tres Leche more. But both are good! The Chocolate Tart was so rich! It's definitely a must try for chocolate lover like me!! The service was great too! I wish I live closer so I can come often to try different flavors!

Yelp
Ugh, okay, this is what my husband would call a "hot take." I don't have a ton of experience with crepe cakes - I've had Lady M a few times, but Anton was another name that'd popped up over and over again and I just never had the opportunity to check them out... until this past weekend because I was in San Mateo and Anton has made its new home in San Mateo. I was excited. I told myself to not over eat, but I couldn't resist getting a slice of their black sesame crepe cake to share and because they were still relatively new to the area, there was a small Christmas discount so I saved a couple dollars from my cake. When I tell you I was shooked at the size of the slice - it almost hurt me a little bit to share it with my husband. You can definitely taste the black sesame in the crepe cake, there's no denying it, but I didn't like the texture the cake left in my mouth afterwards and the cost of one slice being almost $12 is really hard to justify in my opinion. Service was fine - the sales associate that assisted me this day was efficient and packed up my cake slice quickly.

Yelp
I knew this crepe cake when they used to supply for Mokutanya and I think I remembered like 5 years ago, it was charged close to $15. Now they have it on their on location close to us than San Jose and ordering to go : Black Sesame slice and mango mousse. Mango mousse is not too sweet and or sour, I love it! Same as the Black Sesame - quality was good . However for a place in Burlingame and /or San Mateo with growing crepe patisserie cake styles like U - Dessert Story and Sweet Glory - they might have to offer bigger slices for competitiveness . BTW, the bag is nice too for $0.25.

Yelp
The location of this is right across from the train station in San Mateo. The storefront is a small space and when I came a line quickly formed. Be courteous and know that you may have to wait outside if the space gets too full. The store is pristine and pretty inside. The guy who is manning the cashier was nice and very informative. Since it was my first time, he recommended their most popular flavors--matcha and the tiramisu. Then I got the tres leche one since it was seasonal and pistachio because my family and me love the flavor usually. At the time, if you join the loyalty program you get a free mango panna cotta with your order. I am not sure if this is still the case. The sign outside will be able to inform you. The slices end up being beautifully wrapped and if you want the bag, it is an extra 25 cents. But I feel like it's worth it if you're gifting the cake to someone. The bag is very aesthetically pleasing. The matcha flavor has too bitter for my taste. The matcha was too concentrated, but give it a try if you are a matcha lover. It may be your cup of tea. The tiramisu is very heavy on the espresso flavor. Be warned. It was a delicious flavor and if you usually like tiramisu, this is the cake for you. The tres leche cake was surprisingly very sweet. The tart berries were a welcome touch to counteract the sweetness. I expected it to be a lighter taste, but definitely not what I was expecting. The pistachio did end up being our family favorite. The flavors were not too sweet. The lightness I was looking for was in this slice of cake. Hope to get it again in the future. There are many promos that go on (join their loyalty program to be informed thru email) so take advantage of them if you are in the area. It is definitely worth a try. If you want to gift someone for an occasion like an anniversary or maybe a birthday. Keep in mind, it is $12 a slice so save them for a special occasion or if you want to treat yourself.

Yelp
After a disappointing experience with a different bakery, I was happy to hear that Anton just opened another location right by me. I've only had Anton once many, many years ago and couldn't remember if I liked it or not. Thankfully, past me wrote a review for the SJ location and I was able to reference that to jog my memory (I've always said that I write reviews for myself, and it has come in handy so many times!). It's their grand opening month as they opened just a couple weeks ago, so they're offering 20% off your purchase. PLUS, if you sign up for their loyalty program, you also get a complimentary mango panna cotta (valued at $8). I opted for a slice of the Hokkaido milk and the hojicha ($12 each original price, $9.60 with discount). The Hokkadio milk has little crunchy balls embedded within the delicate layers, so it adds a different texture. I liked this one more than the hojicha (tbh, I don't really remember the latter, so it must have not been very memorable). Slices are on the smaller side though, so it's quite pricey. Definitely take advantage of this 20% off promo while you can if you want to try any goods! The workers are very kind and patient. There's a self-order option or you can order at the register. It's a pretty small storefront though. I think it's where Tong Sui was previously located? The packaging is also gorgeous! They wrapped up my box with a gold ribbon and it really elevated the luxe factor.

Yelp
We visited on a Saturday and tried the tres leches and Hokkaido milk cakes. Both were on the sweeter side, noticeably more so than Lady M's cakes and with less cream. The tres leches was especially sweet (but tres leches is usually pretty sweet!). The Hokkaido milk was our favorite, with a distinct, creamy flavor. It was much softer and creamier, which gave it a different mouthfeel and a slightly less intense sweetness. In contrast, the tres leches had a denser texture, with a thinner layer of cream relative to the crepe layers. I could see how it was reminiscent of tres leches not only in flavor but texture as well. For the best experience, I'd suggest keeping these in the fridge within 30 minutes to an hour and enjoying them chilled. We walked around and had lunch before trying the cakes, and although it was a cool autumn day (in the 60s), the Hokkaido one started to melt a bit. Still tasted great, though!

Yelp
Pistachio Cake is amazing. Beautifully served desserts. We would love to try more desserts they offer.

Margot R.

Yelp
Spent over $30 for 3 slices, and they all had no flavor. Everything felt lacking. The pistachio just tasted like plain cream. The black sesame had such a faint sesame taste. The Hokkaido one... I can't even explain, it had almost no flavor at all. The serving size is also so tiny. All their creativity went into the packaging and aesthetics.

Yelp
I've never tried Anton before so we wanted to give it a try. I saw on social media that they are having a 20% off discount for their soft opening. We ordered online and selected the day/time for pickup. We added to cart a bag to hold everything. We ordered Fruit Tart Tiramisu Mille Crepe cake slice Matcha Marron Tart Hokkaido Milk Mille Crepe cake slice salted caramel macaron hojicha crepe maki roll Staff greeted when walked in. Our order wasn't ready yet, they had to pack it. Inside looked clean. I liked the Hokkaido Milk Mille Crepe cake slice the best it was soft, light and a bit rich. The small crunchy chocolate puffs inside of the Hokkaido Milk was a nice touch. My next favorite was the matcha marron tart, love that rich matcha taste. The salted caramel macaron and fruit tart tasted alright like standard. The tiramisu Mille crepe cake slice tasted alright. My least favorite was the hojicha maki crepe roll it had a strong flavor, just the texture wasn't for me.

Yelp
Loved they have a shop here in the San Mateo area finally! They just opened up a week ago and is offering 20% this month plus free Panna cotta for signing up their loyalty program. Their crepe cakes are definitely their strong suites. :p They ran out of my favorite crepe flavor (Hokkaido milk) already on their first weekend and wished they would stock up. :(

Yelp
Anton is a perfect place for elevated quality desserts. We went there at ~1 pm on a Wednesday and their doors were locked and I was disappointed if they were not open when their hours said they were. We went back with the hopes that someone was just on a break and to our luck they were open this time. Their chocolate tart was exquisite and the perfect richness and a good crust. It had a gorgeous kind of mirror glaze and definitely would try their other tarts. Simply decadent and worth the money spent.

Yelp
I can see why everyone recommends the Hokkaido Milk cake! It taste light and not too sweet but with a creaminess that is unmatched! Panna Cotta was very good as well.

Yelp
Run don't walk, these cakes and desserts are delicious! Anton is located at the previous Tong Sui location by the train tracks, can be easily missed as it's a pretty small shop and there isn't seating inside. They only just opened a few weeks ago and are having a special 20% discount for the month and a free mango panna cotta if you sign up for their loyalty program. You can also get 20% off if you order this month for future events! It was my hubby's birthday last week and wanted to get him some nice, special treats. The Hokkaido milk cake is amazing, really unique flavor and so velvety and soft. Tiramisu had a nice coffee taste and is a bit rum forward so keep that in mind if you're getting this slice. My husband is a big chocolate fan and thought the tart was so decadent and yummy. Will definitely come back to try out more desserts in the future!

Yelp
Was excited for the new opening. Went on Sunday afternoon last weekend for soft opening discount. I ordered online, 2 pistachio Mille crepe slices, 1 black sesame Mille crepe slice, 1 tiramisu Mille crepe slice and 1 Hokkaido Mike mille crepe slice. I have note one of the pistachio slice will need to be in it's own box, which they did take care of it. When I first walk in to the store to pick up, employees were busy cleaning, it has a very strong unpleasant smell of cleaning chemicals smell. My friend with younger child has to step out the store, as we were waiting for the cake and other customers are coming in, so I was sure why need to do deep cleaning at store hours? If I didn't order and paid ahead I would've leave as I open the door. The slices I opened all 4 favors and share with my family and none of them can tell the favor for pistachio. It has no taste and very sad. And my friend who got the other slice has the same comment no taste. Tiramisu once we open we can smell the alcohol but no taste of chocolate and coffee, just tasted alcohol. Black sesame except it's black and has small seeds also not much taste to it. Hokkaido Milk was the best out of the four is has a bit of chocolate crispy balls in it and can taste the cream is a little different. Overall not a good experience for me.

Yelp
I love crepe layer cakes! I always wanted to try to make one, but they are so labor intensive to make! I like that the Asian bakeries that make them don't add too much sugar so they're only mildly sweet. I saw a post on Instagram that Anton's was having a soft opening special of 20% off. I bought a slice each of the Hokkaido milk and pistachio to taste. They even threw in a complimentary mango panna cotta! While both crepe layer cakes were delicious, I preferred the Hokkaido milk moreso. The milk flavor seemed to stand out while the pistachio flavor was very subtle. My kids devoured the mango panna cotta! I guess they'd never had it before and loved it! I tried one bite and I must say, it was delicious! The panna cotta was creamy and not overly sweet and the mango complemented it well. I'll definitely be back to buy more desserts now that it's so close to where I live!

Brenda T.

Yelp
I went during the soft opening where they offered a discount off your total. The storefront is tiny but they offered a lot of desserts option! We opted for a couple slices of the individual cakes in tiramisu, pistachio, and tres leches (seasonal). They packaged the cakes up individually and provided a nice bag to carry them in. These crepe cakes were moist and represented the flavors really well. Pistachio was the best but I think tiramisu wasn't very memorable. The crepes were light and these satisfied my need for a sweet treat. I would recommend the full cakes for a special occasion!

Anna C.

Yelp
I placed an order online for pick up and the gentleman at the front who assisted me was super friendly and helpful! They were out of the panna cotta I ordered and he let me substitute a matcha tart for it . I am so glad I got that instead because the matcha tart was heavenly! The flavors and textures were so on point, a must order for matcha lovers. I also really enjoyed the tres leches Mille Crepe and the fruit tart that was a part of my order. I will definitely be back again to try their other items!

Yelp
Very small place. Lots of crepes flavor, cakes, macaroons and Italian custards. Very small slice for the price is on the upper side. Still good

Yelp
Wonderful cakes, friendly service. One person said the Hokkaido Milk crepe might be the best cake they ever had. Light, airy deliciousness.
