Austin Cheese Store Antonelli’s Opens New Tasting Room in South Austin | Eater Austin

"Located in the Lamar Union complex in Zilker at 1100 South Lamar Boulevard, Suite 1130, the new Antonelli’s tasting room opened on April 5. I found that the South Austin location does not offer cheeses for retail sale; instead it serves as a pickup point for preordered cheese trays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The space hosts cheese tastings paired with wines and is planned to run other food and drink events such as classes and pop-up collaborations, and it will also be available for private event bookings. The expansion into South Austin was announced by co-owners Kendall and John Antonelli in August 2023, they signed the lease in November 2023, and they even organized a free-cheese scavenger hunt when revealing the address." - Nadia Chaudhury

Austin Cheese Store Antonelli’s Wants to Open in South Austin | Eater Austin

"I read in the store’s newsletter that co-owners and couple Kendall and John Antonelli, who opened their Hyde Park cheese shop in 2010 just north of the UT campus, are looking to open a second location somewhere in South Austin because “traffic is a beast” and many customers now prefer to shop where they can get to easily; they included a link to a survey to help gauge the best area south of the river for the next Antonelli’s." - Nadia Chaudhury

We went for a Saturday brunch cheese tasting, and it was excellent! We tasted 7 different cheeses ranging from a local Fresh Feta to a delicious Blue cheese from Auvergne, France. The staff were friendly and attentive. There is great interaction as you go through the various tastings, and the explain the origin of the cheese type as well as the particular farm that provided it. It is a half pound of cheese like they say, and with the accompanying bites, it is plenty for a midday lunch. Wine choices are limited, but we had the Pet-Nat, and it was very good, pairing well with many of the cheeses. We will definitely head back here to satisfy our cheese cravings. (Side note: parking is convenient with a short walk)

We did a 'date night' cheese tasting with a group of 8 people for a buddies birthday and had a blast! They were able to seat us all together, but note the tables only seat 8 people so that is the max for a group. It was no surprise that the cheeses were all amazing; I will admit I haven't shopped at Antonelli's before but I know their reputation and all of the cheese and pairings were up to my high expectations. That being said, what really makes the experience are the hosts! I can buy a half pound of cheese and have a great night at home lol. But the way they curated the parings with the cheese, and introduced the cheeses and pairings not just with tasting notes and info about the style, but also gave details on the vendors everything was bought from and their sustainability etc which gave a lot of personal feeling to the whole tasting. And when they say you will be full afterwards they mean it- I even took some cheese home! We also loved the option to byo wine with a $15 corkage fee; for about the price of a glass of wine this is a solid choice. Parking is free in the garages around the Drafthouse- its great not having to search for street parking on S Lamar!

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of bringing 10 wonderful ladies to Antonelli’s Cheese for another unforgettable tasting. The staff at Antonelli’s is always incredibly knowledgeable, walking us through each cheese with details about its origins, flavors, and the best pairings. We enjoyed a fantastic variety, each one more delicious than the last. Antonelli’s was also one of the Capital One local businesses featured in their ads for almost a year, and it’s easy to see why. During the pandemic, they pivoted seamlessly to virtual tastings, offering people the chance to enjoy their products safely from home. A few of us discovered their business and have been fans since. Their culture of "Do good. Eat good." and "We represent hundreds of artisanal producers making delicious and responsible food; learning their stories in person and then retelling them to our customers; and building a team of advocates for real food." shows through in everything they do. If you’re looking for a unique outing, I highly recommend Antonelli’s Cheese at any of their tasting rooms! We’re already planning our next visit!

My husband and I have been fans of all things Antonelli's since they opened their amazing artisan cheese shop in 2010. We've been to classes at the original Cheese House, and this beautiful new tasting room is another great spot to enjoy the cheese-y goodness! We've tried the Cheese & Pickles class, and the Cheese & Charcuterie class. Whether you're a novice or a cheese connoisseur, you'll learn something new and interesting in the most delicious way. The cheese hosts are so friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable. The price point is a great value; wine is available as an add-on. And we love the Antonelli's mission of "Do Good, Eat Good". This a great activity for locals or visitors, date night or friend groups, birthdays, showers, any reason to have fun! And don't miss out on the cheese shop!

This was fun! I wasn’t expecting to be so full after just a cheese plate but I was (which is nice considering this isn’t a cheap activity). The team was wonderful and super knowledgeable about everything they served us. Bonus: I have a mild allergy that they were able to easily accommodate too! Definitely a fun date activity!

Attended a "Cheese and Chocolate" event and loved it! The selections were thoughtful and the pairings were so delicious. The sparkling white wine I chose complemented it all. The space is cozy, the chairs were super comfortable, and the guides were incredibly knowledgeable. Will visit again to sample some of their other classes.

Yelp
Antonelli's tastings are such a fun and unique experience! I've been for both corporate socials and personal date nights and it's a great opportunity to enjoy and learn about cheese pairings. The newer S Lamar location is pretty modern and has lots of tables, whereas the original tasting room feels more homey and cozy. Table seats are close together so it's a pretty communal experience. The cheese plates are huge and you will definitely leave full! They walk you through the different pairings, you can also add a wine pairing if desired, and they teach you about the history of the cheese as well. I love that you can place an order for any of the items you tried and they quickly package and bring it out to you at the end of the night - we got a few cheeses to share with family after our tasting.

Yelp
We visited the new Antonelli's tasting room on South Lamar on a Saturday evening for their cheese tasting event. It was $50 per person and we received seven cheeses paired with an accompaniment. The class lasted about an hour and a half, and we really had a good time. The two hosts that led you through the tasting were personable and funny. All of the cheeses were delicious and they were perfectly paired with a complementary flavor. My favorite was the strawberry basil preserve, and the honey on the blue cheese. You can purchase a wine flight when you purchase your tasting ticket, but we opted not to and instead purchased a glass of wine when we arrived. They only had three wine options to choose from. I'd definitely recommend a tasting event. They have four long community tables in the room, so you can either sit with a group of friends or be placed next to others.

Yelp
What a great cheese class! So thankful that I follow them on Instagram. I was scrolling and noticed they had a few seats left for their Sunday morning brunch cheese class. I even got a discount! I arrived a little early, just never know about parking. There are 2 small parking areas. I was cheerfully greeted when I walked in and handed an apple cider mimosa. I was guided to my seat. I did walk around and take pictures. The room is stunning, and very beautifully decorated. As everyone was arriving, they were also guided to their seats and handed a mimosa. After a short period, a cow bell was rung to give our attention to the hosts. They introduced theirselves to us and gave a little insight of how they became employees with Antonelli's Cheese. Which was a cute story, for both hosts. Plates were put out in front of us, and class begun. We sampled a beautiful 7 specific cheese. Its was like one was better than the last. I enjoyed all of the cheese. But there was one that I couldn't get enough of. And that was the raw cow milk Canadian cheese Chemin Du Brule. It was a soft, creamy, savory cheese. On its own was delicious. It was paired with an apple onion jam, that sounded off, but that jam alone was delicious as well. The cheese and the apple onion jam on a little toastie, makes a great holiday app. A lot of cheese sampling. I'm not going to get into all 7, but they were all great in their own way. And the pairings really are imaginative. I see a lot of holiday ideas with this class. Thank you for the knowledge, and the tastings. Wonderful class. And I look forward to going to another.

Yelp
You can't go wrong at any Antonelli's but this location has something special. It's all so fresh and crisp and the people are always in a good mood. We've been fans a long while but are loving the chance to go to a variety of locations around town. We brought visiting family in to get some cheese "from the famous people" they saw on commercials in the midwest and this team did not disappoint. They let us taste a few before making our selections and we also got some great wine and crackers -- then off to Lady Bird Lake for a day of fun and our cheesy picnic snacks. Amen to Antonelli's once again. Love them!!

Yelp
Super cute spot that was well decorated. The staff is fun, welcoming, and attentive. They helped us learn a lot about cheese, and everything we tasted was unique and high quality. We left full and happy. I subtracted one star because I felt a bit tight on space because the class was booked at capacity. I would recommend this experience and do it again, but I wish the seats had slightly less space
