Antonelli's Cheese - Tasting Room South

My husband and I have been fans of all things Antonelli's since they opened their amazing artisan cheese shop in 2010. We've been to classes at the original Cheese House, and this beautiful new tasting room is another great spot to enjoy the cheese-y goodness! We've tried the Cheese & Pickles class, and the Cheese & Charcuterie class. Whether you're a novice or a cheese connoisseur, you'll learn something new and interesting in the most delicious way. The cheese hosts are so friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable. The price point is a great value; wine is available as an add-on. And we love the Antonelli's mission of "Do Good, Eat Good". This a great activity for locals or visitors, date night or friend groups, birthdays, showers, any reason to have fun! And don't miss out on the cheese shop!

I’ve been to several of the cheese tastings over the last almost 10 years. I’ve never been disappointed this time. I brought my sweetheart, and it gave it that extra special experience, great cheeses, great atmosphere lovely hosts.And love

Update: gave Antonelli’s another shot and raclette night was awesome! We were immediately greeted, got drinks, and the customer service was top notch. The raclette cheese was excellent and it was fun self-serving it even though I struggled a bit. The food was plentiful and we were even offered refills. My favorite was the cheese on the potatoes and the speck prosciutto. From the start, customer service was very poor and continued that way throughout the night for the May 1 cheese and honey tasting. I arrived early and was waiting outside for my friends to arrive. There was another elderly lady outside. She was greeted and offered a glass of wine and to go inside. I figured they would do the same to me but just completely ignored me. When nobody came back out to greet me, I went inside. There were only two other gentleman attendees at the time. When I walked in, I was asked if I was here for the event. I said yes and gave my name. They were about to seat me when I remembered I called and emailed a few days prior and asked to be seated with my friend group which I was assured was all taken care of. They had no record of that but made some rearrangements and got my group of four together. After that, we were pretty much ignored the rest of the night. After one of my guests arrived, we had to ask for water and to order wine instead of being offered it like everyone else. People that arrived after us were taken care of first. My other two friends arrived and a bottle and two glasses were placed in front of them. While they had been there about 10 minutes without anyone taking their order, the bottle wasn’t their order. We had to tell them it wasn’t our order but would like to order some drinks of their own. They took the bottle away and wouldn’t take a drink order. My friend said can I at least get water and she said you have water. My friend said, yeah but I don’t have a glass. She did come back with a glass but still wouldn’t take their drink order. Even though your employees weren’t concerned about providing us good customer service, as these were my friends and guests, I wanted to help them get their drinks. Carter was standing by us and not presenting at the time so I explained they got someone else’s drink order but weren’t able to place their own after being there for 15 minutes. She just shushed me. When they brought the cheese plates out, they put a plate in front of everyone at my table except me. Then they went on to plate other tables. My friend pointed out I didn’t get one and he was shushed as well. He was just trying to help. Then after a night of poor customer service, you can imagine my surprise when the lowest tip you could give was set at $5 and up. You couldn’t enter your own tip or even a percentage. I was ready to tip but not 40% after the experience me and my friend had. Lastly, on the Antonelli’s Instagram page, there is a post about this location not being a cheese shop. Someone commented how disappointing that is because that’s what the area desperately needs but one of the Antonelli’s commented that the cheeses at a class would be available for sale after the class. That was not the case. Only the wine was available for purchase. I went back to the post and comments had been disabled. That being said, none of us will be back for another class. The cheeses were fine but the bread didn’t taste fresh and the almonds tasted like a container they’re probably stored in. Hopefully they will reconsider and open a cheese shop instead and stick to the Hyde Park location for events since that is the type of person they want to cater to as opposed to someone like myself that lives two blocks away and walked there.

Attended a "Cheese and Chocolate" event and loved it! The selections were thoughtful and the pairings were so delicious. The sparkling white wine I chose complemented it all. The space is cozy, the chairs were super comfortable, and the guides were incredibly knowledgeable. Will visit again to sample some of their other classes.

We went to the soft cheese and bubbles class. It was a great selection of cheeses and sparkling wine. Sadly the cheese was not served at the proper temperature and was too cold. This diminished the overall experience and shouldn’t be the case given the hosts even knew that this cheese had to be served at the right temperature for the proper experience. While the hosts were wonderful, there was too much talking and not enough time to just sit and enjoy the cheese and experience.

My fiancè and I came for the cheese and preserves tasting and didn’t know what to expect, but we had an incredible experience. Carter was a great host and Texas was awesome, too! I’m glad we didn’t eat dinner before, as the cheese, jams, breads and crackers were PLENTY! We bought a bottle of wine to enjoy as well. Carter was super knowledgeable and we learned a lot. It was incredible to try the jams and different cheeses and how the jams tasted better with the cheese. 10/10 will come back again! Great experience and great staff.

Absolutely divine experience! The cheese and chocolate tasting class for our girls' night out was a five-star delight! Lucky for us our host and teacher for the evening was one of the amazing owners- Kendall! She made the evening both educational and entertaining, enhancing our appreciation for the efforts that go into making the cheese and chocolates. Whether you're a cheese connoisseur or a chocolate lover, this class is a must-try for a memorable night. I highly recommend you add a wine flight too. Can’t wait to go back!

Antonelli's tastings are such a fun and unique experience! I've been for both corporate socials and personal date nights and it's a great opportunity to enjoy and learn about cheese pairings. The newer S Lamar location is pretty modern and has lots of tables, whereas the original tasting room feels more homey and cozy. Table seats are close together so it's a pretty communal experience. The cheese plates are huge and you will definitely leave full! They walk you through the different pairings, you can also add a wine pairing if desired, and they teach you about the history of the cheese as well. I love that you can place an order for any of the items you tried and they quickly package and bring it out to you at the end of the night - we got a few cheeses to share with family after our tasting.

We visited the new Antonelli's tasting room on South Lamar on a Saturday evening for their cheese tasting event. It was $50 per person and we received seven cheeses paired with an accompaniment. The class lasted about an hour and a half, and we really had a good time. The two hosts that led you through the tasting were personable and funny. All of the cheeses were delicious and they were perfectly paired with a complementary flavor. My favorite was the strawberry basil preserve, and the honey on the blue cheese. You can purchase a wine flight when you purchase your tasting ticket, but we opted not to and instead purchased a glass of wine when we arrived. They only had three wine options to choose from. I'd definitely recommend a tasting event. They have four long community tables in the room, so you can either sit with a group of friends or be placed next to others.

What a great cheese class! So thankful that I follow them on Instagram. I was scrolling and noticed they had a few seats left for their Sunday morning brunch cheese class. I even got a discount! I arrived a little early, just never know about parking. There are 2 small parking areas. I was cheerfully greeted when I walked in and handed an apple cider mimosa. I was guided to my seat. I did walk around and take pictures. The room is stunning, and very beautifully decorated. As everyone was arriving, they were also guided to their seats and handed a mimosa. After a short period, a cow bell was rung to give our attention to the hosts. They introduced theirselves to us and gave a little insight of how they became employees with Antonelli's Cheese. Which was a cute story, for both hosts. Plates were put out in front of us, and class begun. We sampled a beautiful 7 specific cheese. Its was like one was better than the last. I enjoyed all of the cheese. But there was one that I couldn't get enough of. And that was the raw cow milk Canadian cheese Chemin Du Brule. It was a soft, creamy, savory cheese. On its own was delicious. It was paired with an apple onion jam, that sounded off, but that jam alone was delicious as well. The cheese and the apple onion jam on a little toastie, makes a great holiday app. A lot of cheese sampling. I'm not going to get into all 7, but they were all great in their own way. And the pairings really are imaginative. I see a lot of holiday ideas with this class. Thank you for the knowledge, and the tastings. Wonderful class. And I look forward to going to another.

You can't go wrong at any Antonelli's but this location has something special. It's all so fresh and crisp and the people are always in a good mood. We've been fans a long while but are loving the chance to go to a variety of locations around town. We brought visiting family in to get some cheese "from the famous people" they saw on commercials in the midwest and this team did not disappoint. They let us taste a few before making our selections and we also got some great wine and crackers -- then off to Lady Bird Lake for a day of fun and our cheesy picnic snacks. Amen to Antonelli's once again. Love them!!

Super cute spot that was well decorated. The staff is fun, welcoming, and attentive. They helped us learn a lot about cheese, and everything we tasted was unique and high quality. We left full and happy. I subtracted one star because I felt a bit tight on space because the class was booked at capacity. I would recommend this experience and do it again, but I wish the seats had slightly less space
