Grubhub Sued for Listing Restaurants Without Permission | Eater

"Plaintiff alleges that the platform added a marketplace page using the restaurant’s branding and language suggesting a partnership despite the restaurant having actively declined such an arrangement when approached. The listing allegedly included outdated menus and wrong prices, led to unexpected orders for a business that may not offer takeout or only accepts in-person orders, and resulted in mistaken or canceled orders, customer frustration, and damage to reputation and control over the dining experience. The suit frames this as part of an explicit company strategy to add restaurants without formal partnerships and says removal requests were not honored." - Jaya Saxena

The service was so good and friendly. I personally was not a fan of the pasta, it was over cooked and lacked a lot of flavor. The dessert was was really good. I enjoyed dinning outside, perfect little town to enjoy outside dinning in.

Google
The marsallo chicken and carrots and the grilled cheese sandwich is wonderful. The table bread is great. Service is good no complaints about the restaurant.

Google
The food was excellent. Enough options without too many to be overwhelmed. We're from central NY and can't get great Italian bread except here! They infuse their own dipping oil & it's delicious. You can also purchase some. Homemade pasta is always perfect. What a difference in taste. Definitely won't be disappointed coming here.

Wow! Some of the best pasta I’ve had in the area!! Great lunch spot and those half portions are plenty enough!

Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at this authentic Italian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting aroma set the perfect tone for the evening. The food was delicious – fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and truly traditional Italian preparation. What made our experience even more special was the service. A big shoutout to Mary, our waitress, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely warm. She made us feel welcome and ensured everything was perfect throughout our meal. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience with top-notch service!

This restaurant was referred to me by a family member. Food service and atmosphere were excellent even though we had a large party we were very taken care of quickly and very well. The lasagna was very good but they had a mushroom bacon soup that I will call ahead to make sure they have it was so good. Will be back again if not for the Mushroom bacon soup alone.

Google
The hosting staff seemed super new and unprepared. We arrived at 5 pm as a party of 4 and the restaurant was empty but they made us sit outside since they had reservations for 7pm and were “afraid” we would take up those spots. It was a super hot day to make people sit outside. Food was okay. I got the tomato vodka fettuccine and sausage. I enjoyed my meal. Long story short make reservations even if it is a Wednesday early evening meal. The portion sizes were large so that a nice bonus

Google
It was not crowded, but our service was poor. We had to wait 15 minutes between the time my friend got her meal and I got my meal. Then the waiter forgot things that we asked for and had to be reminded. This restaurant came highly recommended so I expected more. The food was good nevertheless.

Yelp
It seems that the algorithm on this website doesn't pick up other reviews one has left. There is an old review from 2012 under different mgt that I had left. Antonias has new mgt. I have had the pleasure of eating here several times and each time the food was excellent. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
I have NEVER had anything bad in this establishment! The BEST Italian food I have ever had. We usually go during lunch time and I have also attended a few meetings there. My go-to is the Salmon and Bacon sandwich! TO DIE FOR! Another staple of mine is the rigatoni and pesto. All of their pasta is made in house and you can also purchase it to take home and make later. Their cannoli's are great and they switch up their flavors regularly. The service is top notch! Always nice, welcoming and accommodating. The hostesses, the servers, everyone is just a delight to work with. It really makes it a great experience every time! It's a cute little spot in downtown Hillsborough. Small enough to be intimate but in a great spot. There is inside and outside seating. They also take reservations and will accept large parties.

Yelp
This place is filthy. We were in the dining area below the overhead fan. The fan looked liked it has never been cleaned. Facing the area where the waits come from you look up to see what looks like fabric panels on each side...nasty filthy. Can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. We also weren't impressed with the food.

Yelp
A local recommended Antonia's yesterday for lunch. We sat outside at their picnic tables to enjoy the beautiful weather, which made the experience even better. From the warm welcome from the host, to the exceptional service from our waitress, Callie, it was clear the staff really care about creating a great experience. The food was delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every detail made for a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Don't eat here unless you have a minimum of three hours to kill. The food is good but there is absolutely no way it should have taken a full hour for our drinks to arrive, another 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and 30 minutes for the server to take our payment. Not worth the wait. Also, they were not super busy so there was no visible reason for the constant delays.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner so much we made a reservation for a Sunday brunch the next morning! The menu offers a wide variety of options and features specials for drinks, starters and meals. The service was extraordinary and a huge thank you for accommodating our party of 6. The seating area indoors is split into two rooms with intimate seating. There are also limited outdoor tables in front of the restaurant. I enjoyed the pimento BLT for brunch that paired well with a mimosa. Thank you for the great service and delicious food!

Yelp
My daughter and son-in-law took my husband and I out for a wonderful evening at Antonias! The service was wonderful and the food was outstanding! We felt that the prices were very reasonable. And we loved the atmosphere. I'd highly recommend Antonia's!

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere and staff. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Food was very good and all homemade. Love the fact it is on the corner so you can see the town

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch at Antonia's for the first time and will definitely be returning! I had the Lemon tahini spaghetti with andouille sausage with fettuccine noodles which was excellent! It was creamy, rich and savory. My wife enjoyed her panini but after tasting the pasta was second guessing her choice. All the staff members were cheerful and welcoming. Our server Myra was great and knowledgeable. Furthermore, it had a great atmosphere with nice local artwork decorating the walls.

Yelp
Yummy lunch spot with great service! They had a fun selection of cocktails - I had a lavender drop! The half sandwich and salad lunch deal was such a great deal! I had the Calabrian pimento cheese sandwich and side salad with ranch. Both were delicious.

Yelp
Excellent service and food for our large, multigenerational party. Everyone left happy.

Yelp
Sadly this place is hit or miss on service though the food is consistently good. Waited for over an hour to just get drinks and bread. We eventually gave up and asked for the food we'd ordered to be changed to "to go." Tables around us were also complaining and one couple got up and left. Wished we had done that from the moment we noticed the slow service. Turned what was supposed to be a fun dinner with out of town guests into an awkward ordeal.

Yelp
Very charming atmosphere.! Excellent wait staff , never needed to want for anything! Last but not least , excellent choices on menu and delicious food! Freshly made pastas! You must try!!

Yelp
Came here for a double-date night and had a blast! The ambiance is cozy and a bit dim which is what I love for a nice dinner. The bread, drinks, food, and service was great! Everything came out very quickly and was delicious. We split a caesar salad, and I got the clam pasta w/ the white wine oil and it was delicious. Everyone else I was with also enjoyed their meals thoroughly as well. I would recommend getting a half-portion of their pasta (which they offer), as that was more than enough for one person. Will be returning!

Yelp
I had a surprise 70th birthday for my husband at Antonia's in Hillsborough, NC. Brian Pearson was an outstanding host. From a sit-down dinner with drinks, appetizers, main course, and desserts. The staff were amazing and accommodated our guests with grace. I would absolutely recommend Antonia's for the future as a party venue. I give them 5 STARS

Yelp
Great spot! Friendly service, yummy food and mocktails. I enjoyed the fresh bread and olive oil spread, then the waiter shared about the daily specials. I decided to go with the strawberry poppyseed salad special and add salmon. Yummm! Also loved the sweet lavender lemonade. My friend loved her cherry smash mocktail as well. For dessert, we opted for the trio! It includes Mexican chocolate gelato (the daily flavor), a bourbon creme brûlée and tiramisu. Yasssss The inside features some fantastic art as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Waffle with whipped cream and strawberries was perfect. Omelette (make your own) was cooked perfectly. They serve their special potatoes with almost everything. Attentive service made our Sunday morning fun. Beautiful local art for sale on the walls- or just to enjoy. Best brunch in Hillsborough!

Yelp
Had a good experience at Antonia's! HUGE food portions-- be prepared to take some to go! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It was a great environment to spend an afternoon lunch with family before walking around the cute downtown area of Hillsboro.

Yelp
I've lived in the triangle for over six years and have never been here! I can't believe that I missed this gem for so long, because it's wonderful. I had the soup and salad, my friends had the pasta, and we all split the buratta at the beginning. Everything was wonderful, and they even have some good drinks and mocktails! Our waitress was awesome, and I look forward to coming back and sitting at the corner bar that they have.

Yelp
Let me just say....I regret that I did not know about this restaurant until today. I went on a trip to Italy, and the food here(homemade pasta) reminded me of Italy. First, we were offered toasty bread with a salty, savory olive oil-garlic. I also had coffee, which was $4, but it was perfect compliment for a lazy day and did come with free refills. The ambiance was enhanced with freshly cut flowers and courteous and friendly staff. I had the fettuccini pasta, which was the perfect Al dente texture. The waitress also sprinkled some additional parmigiana on top!!! I will be frequenting this place often.

Yelp
The appetizers were solid. Good cocktails. Attentive service. I'm glad I didn't order the fettuccine with meatballs. I got to sample it and it wasn't creamy, lacked sauce. But I enjoyed my trout dish. Very flavorful and has a good portion size. Overall it was a pleasant dinner.

Yelp
The spaghetti Marcella so heavenly. I going to dream about it, it was so good. Service was very attentive. Unfortunately this likely the last time we visit North Carolina. Ambiance was a bit loud but it's a small area otherwise good

Yelp
What a delicious dining experience. This is a super cute restaurant in a quaint building with local art on the walls. Really cool. We had the burrata with tomatoes, a huge Caesar salad and the most amazing lasagna I've ever had! It's very reasonable priced and we have another meal in leftovers. I took one star off for the weird and flawed service we had. Our waiter didn't put our drink order in-we had to go to the bar and get it. We also had to ask for bread numerous times. When we told the waiter, they argued with us, then complained about us to another server-right in front of me. I got dirty looks throughout my meal but syrupy nice service when at my table. I'll go back in hopes of a more efficient and pleasant experience. Oh and I did share this with the manager who was very concerned and apologetic. We only left a 15% tip (which is low) so I had to also tell the manager about our issues.

Carl R.

Yelp
A friend and I had a lovely brunch here. So cute ,very good food and great service. The bread was amazing and so were the drinks.

Wilson L.

Yelp
Plenty of staff, always pleasant, in my experience. The soup and half sandwich lunch is just right for us senior citizens.

Leigh Z.

Yelp
Food and service was A+as usual. Spaghetti perfectly sauced and drinks incredible. Shrimp lasagna and pork chop were also hits!

Yelp
My original review follows this after the * * * * We had an exhibition of our alumni in Durham, and our folks came in from California, Texas, Ohio, Maine, as well as states closer to home. Owner Brian Pearson arranged for two large tbles for our group, and all our participants enjoyed themselves. They raved over the food, the service, and the evening. A number came back the following morning for brunch before heading back home. That, too, was thoroughly enjoyed. I always go fro the eggs benedict with smoked salmon, and because I am gluten-free, I had mine of spinach...sublime! Kudos to Brian and his staff for yet another wonderful event. * * * * Antonia's keeps getting better and better! Recently, I ordered the special, stuffed peppers. They were absolutely delectable with seafood and other goodies. It was for my birthday, so the fact that it was delicious made it extra special. It turns out that Brian, the owner along with his wife, had come up with that creation. Kudos to him and the rest of the staff! It is our local go-toRestaurant, because we are never disappointed. And because it is always delicious, and because we travel so much in normal years, we have no need to go outside our town. And for us who do not feel comfortable dining inside, Brian got three outdoor heaters that we happily sit under, as long as it isn't raining.

Yelp
Mouth watering food with great hospitality and great service. Definitely going again. I definitely recommend trying it.

Yelp
I have eaten here before - I'm sure they started a review after that visit, but here we are, several years and a pandemic later. I attended a sales presentation aimed at those in the Medicare age group. We sat in a small room off the main indoor seating area (ironically, where I sat last time with a friend and my now ex-wife!) and we're given three entrees to choose from. I opted for the chicken with mushroom sauce, which was served with green beans and mashed potatoes. This was far beyond the usual corporate cookie-cutter meal. I'm not a fan of chicken breasts in particular (far too dry), but it was well seasoned and prepared. I ordered drinks and dessert beyond what was offered, and Kyle was happy to make my time very enjoyable beyond the presentation time. The tiramisu was on point, and the Negronis mixed to perfection. All in all, a lovely night, even with the sales pitch!

Yelp
Antonia's has changed hands since my last review over ten years ago. The last time we went - about a year ago - we found the food to be so-so, so we hadn't been back. We decided to try it again on a chilly January day when all the other restaurants in town were closed. We were very pleased to find the food much improved. The server was wonderful, very kind and accommodating. I wish I could remember her name. Two of us ordered grilled shrimp (one had it on a salad and one had it on pasta "Al Antonia", basically pasta primavera. The shrimp had a very tasty chargrilled flavor that we both enjoyed. The other had a Roast Sirloin sandwich with a half bowl of soup (today's special was fish chowder) on the side. So we're glad gave Antonia's another try, and we plan to return soon.

Yelp
Went on a lunch date with the lady one rainy afternoon and was absolutely surprised to say the least! They sat us in the front by the window. Very intimate, and nice! The wood was absolutely delicious! The drinks were amazing! The lady and I will be coming here pretty often!

Yelp
Solid Italian fare, younger but efficient service, in a traditional, main drag setting with easy parking. Have been here twice and perfect for my fam when we want a change of venue from our town. Not sure the pastas are the best but the dishes do meet my and my family's needs. wine list is nice value. Will return quarterly.
google avatar

Kitty C.

Yelp
Antonia's is broken up into 2 rooms. Which means it is never noisy. But, you don't over hear the conversations nearby, either. There is a nice selection on the menu. So, it suits a range of palates. The wine list is good. Service is always excellent. I have not tried their cocktails because I tend to go with wine when I have Italian food. There is free street and lot parking nearby and it's in the center of downtown Hillsborough.
google avatar

Melly M.

Yelp
We dined tonight at Antonia's for the first time. The server was attentive and relaxed. Present but not obnoxious. Wines were half off, and food was generous, served at the right temperature, light but full of flavor. I like quiet and l quaint outdoor sitting. We will return.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Antonia's was able to accommodate my reservation for 9 people including 2 highchairs with less than 2 hours notice! The hostess was so kind and welcoming. Our server was perfectly paced and helped us move through the dinner as smoothly as possible with 2 toddlers. The food was excellent! The homemade pasta is to die for. Everyone was more than happy with their dinners. The restaurant is cozy, warm and relaxing. We give them a 10/10! Thank you for being so great, Antonia's!

Matthew T.

Yelp
Pasta overcooked and broken. Tasted like regular store bought stuff, not homemade. Constantly badgered by servers who interrupted conversations. This place has gone downhill. New management?

Yelp
Chose to dine at Antonia's for my wife's birthday and to also celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We've eaten here before and the food has always been excellent. Very clean place, great service and they've gone above and beyond to accommodate our two and a half year old daughter also. I truly can't say enough... this is our go-to spot in town since we moved here from Providence, RI... a place well known for its Italian food. Antonia's would fit right in... definitely reminds me of home. For our anniversary and my wife's birthday they gave us literally anything off the desert menu. What a great place that we will continue to come back to again and again!! Can't recommend any higher!

Laura B.

Yelp
Great dishes and wonderful salads. Can be slow at times, but worth the wait. They also have gluten free pasta options.

Michael V.

Yelp
Antonia's overall experience is why my wife and I prefer to cook at home. I made a reservation, we arrived early, they accommodated, which was great. Servers were polite and not overly eager, but a bit clumsy in bringing and dropping the silverware. All was well with the appetizers and shared salad. But the main courses or pork chops and swordfish were another story. The pork chop was burned and even with a serrated knife, was very difficult to cut. Since it was so overdone, it was not worth eating (my wife should have sent it back). The swordfish was not so overdone, but clearly dry from over-cooking. The gelato for dessert was mainly cold fluid and the tiramsu was no more than okay, lacking the sponginess that was expected. Why would one serve the coffee after the desserts? Why would one not bring cream and sugar with the coffee, that specifically had to be requested twice? Not quite sure what is going on with the mindset's of the managment/staff at this place, but they could certainly use some improvements. Next time, saving my cash to buy quality ingredients that are cooked properly at home.

M P.

Yelp
Tried brunch Sunday..... disappointing. Please change the potatoes!!! Even the bartender said no one likes them.... Hmmmm. How do u mess up potatoes?! Omelette was mehhh.

Marci Z.

Yelp
Nice restaurant for meeting friends for a meal out. I appreciate that they have some gluten free options but wish there was a little more variety. They do try to be careful when you tell them about your allergies.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
Spaghetti and meatballs is never a bad decision, and Antonia's hits it out of the park. Want a little wine night with some pasta? This is the spot. Just don't get lost in the sauce.
google avatar

Ian S.

Yelp
Keep your political views to yourself if wish to serve the public at large. Food was meh and the service was bad. Way overpriced.
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
Wonderful owner made everything right in response to my complaint. We got the Mother's Day Prix Fixe. Seared scallops especially good. Strawberry poppyseed salad was great. Beef Wellington, and the desserts were mediocre.

Yelp
(4.25 stars) Antonia's is a charming eatery that checks most of the boxes for a great dining experience. The food is delicious, the service is attentive, and the pricing, while not cheap, does not instill regret. It is, however, both a small (albeit handsomely appointed) space and a popular one, so you may find yourself nearly elbow-to-elbow with a neighboring table (if you are able to get a table). Fortunately, this is the only real blemish. The menu here pays homage to the classics while still offering a few departures. Bruschetta, an antipasto platter, and lasagna Bolognese can all be found here, but you can also build your own pasta dish, go vegetarian or gluten-free, or treat yourself to a steak. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally, including meats from Greensboro's sainted Giacomo's. For our first visit, my wife and I opted for a starter of pork meatballs in a parmesan truffle cream sauce, sausage with polenta, and a squash cannelloni (on special). The meatballs were quite tasty, and the sauce, while rich and buttery, was not as heavy as expected. The polenta was cooked perfectly and paired well with slightly sweet sauce and fresh-tasting vegetables (not to mention nice spicy sausage). The pasta's sauce was creamy, and the dish was not overwhelmingly sweet. We followed up with an order of tiramisu - decadent - and my wife raved profusely about the Lady Godiva, a chocolate liquor-infused coffee. Carrie provided friendly and attentive service throughout the meal, and one of the owners (presumably) could be found making her rounds and chatting with her regulars. Our total came out to $60 pre-tip, which for an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, and a spiked coffee, was certainly fair. Italian restaurants are not a rarity by any means, but those that execute as well as Antonia's does seem to be headed that way.

Terrie B.

Yelp
Waited over an hour for our dinner. Kitchen was ridiculously slow. Food was good but overpriced . Good specials but they just can't get them out in a reasonable time. Won't go back
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the meatball panini and spaghetti and meatballs with the sugarosa sauce. The food was okay but nothing special. We won't go back.

Yelp
I'm somewhat flabbergasted. We arrived on time for our reserved 5:30 Valentines dinner at Antonias. We had booked well in advance. The dinner was very nice. A set menu was offered at $89 per person with excellent cuisine options. Our only complaint (which we did not share) was a two top corner table to accommodate three which was far too tight to accommodate bread, appetizers, etc for three. Even with the table top juggling of dishes and glassware, the meal was lovely. The service was solid. We enjoyed a nice glass of wine, a lovely glass of complimentary prosecco, and at 7:10 we were presented a check (we had been seated at 5:32 according to our meal receipt). We completed the credit card payment and were preparing to leave...full, happy, with a positive experience on a special occasion. Our credit card payment was dated and timed as 7:13pm. Not 5 minutes had passed from the processing of the check when a woman showed up tableside (specifically at 7:17pm) telling us she had a party of six waiting outside and they needed our two top table to go with the two tables adjacent to us (customers who had been seated before our arrival and had just left) to accommodate them. It was the first time I can recall being nicely told to please leave a nice restaurant, much less within five minutes of processing a check that was also paid within five minutes of presentation. Let's be clear...Antonias is not a McDonald's though the way this was handled certainly seems like a fast food approach. Do you push your customers out the door in less than 5 minutes of processing the check on a special occasion night costing over $300 for three? We assured her we were about to leave anyway, not desiring to create a scene at the table, but several customers took note. When we left the dining room I stopped to speak with this woman to let her know how an otherwise lovely evening ended on such a rude customer service experience. I then learned this woman was the manager. Utterly shocked to learn that such poor customer interaction came from the very person responsible for the restaurant, I expressed my disappointment and dissatisfaction at the handling of the situation...a situation that was in no way caused by our lingering too long at a table after being presented a check. She apologized for the "perception" of rushing us out but she was worried about the table of six waiting outside. As an aside, there were several open tables by then (7:20). I suggested this was horrific customer service and hoped she would never do it to someone again. She responded that sometimes it is necessary. Well it is not necessary for my family to continue to frequent Antonias. A sad ending to an otherwise nice evening, and a sad ending to my patronage of a Hillsborough establishment. You have competition, Antonias. Perhaps you have forgotten that your customers have other dining choices within steps of you.

Yelp
Pasta is great. Freshly made clearly and best spaghetti I've ever had. Bussin no discussin!
