In Goa, a Thriving Food and Cocktail Scene Is Catering to a New Wave of Transplants

"Later that evening, over lip-smacking cocktails, chef Pablo Miranda—the name behind the hip bar and restaurant António at 31 in Fontainhas, Goa's Latin Quarter—tells me that, free from the shackles of big-city restaurateuring, business owners in Goa breathe a little easier."

It’s a fantastic place for day drinking located in the Fontainhas,Panaji. The atmosphere was really chill and the music was also nice. There are many other bars in the lane. They also serve custom made drinks. We tried Piña colada and Red wine. The lane is very aesthetic and perfect for photography. There was parking issues. The car has to be parked far away and you have to reach the cafe by walking.

Okay so Antonio@31 was something I was unaware of until I visited the place last night. It’s a great cozy place to vibe with your friends or go on a date to. We tried the chicken and the bone marrow! Everything was great. Now if you’re not a fan of bone marrow, it can be a little rich for your taste (fair warning).

Fun Tapas place with a unique menu, enjoyed the rich Bone Marrow and the creamy hummus with Chorizo. The Baitfish were a bit over seasoned for our liking. Overall a great place with a fantastic ambiance!

Happy vibes and food that make the spirits thrive :p We ordered ‘almost’ everything nonveg on the menu as we were a group of 11 and everything was absolutely and unquestionably finger licking good. 1. The highlight was obviously the Bone marrow 2. chorizo lasagne had such a yummy flavour we loved it 3. The grilled fish balchao again was so so good 4. If you’re drinking call for the Crispy baitfish it’s the perfect munchie with drinks 5. The raw mango salad was so refreshing with so much meat These stood out for me but rest of the food was also pretty damn amazing

Their food is exceptionally good, contains a lot of flavor. The cocktails were refreshing and used a lot of local/seasonal ingredients. The ambience as always, was top notch!

Antonio in Fontainhas, Panaji is an Instagram dream, but the overall experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The location is undeniably charming—tucked in the heart of old town Fontainhas, just a short walk from the Immaculate Conception Church—ideal for your photo ops. We dropped by during the lazy hours (around 4:30–5 PM), so slower service was expected. Still, it felt a bit too relaxed for the price point. What we tried: • Salted Tongue Tacos: Good filling, but the taco shell lacked freshness. • Crab Poppers: Pretty good—flavorful and satisfying. • Garlic Poe: Too crunchy for our liking—bordering on hard. Drinks: • Wanted to try the Ola Picante, but they were out of coriander (!). • Smoked Pineapple Margarita was tasty but weak on alcohol. • Watermelon Fizz was okay—nothing special. We get that Antonio is probably best experienced at a livelier hour, so we won’t comment on the vibe—but honestly, the portion sizes, quality, and service didn’t feel worth the premium pricing. Washroom: 2/5. There was one lady constantly cleaning while others walked all over the mess. No tissues, no toilet paper, and a dingy loo. Overall: Beautiful spot, but feels more like you’re paying for the location than the food or service.

Had a great dining experience at Antonio. The Crab Poppers were perfectly crispy with a deliciously seasoned filling, making them a great start to the meal. The Chicken 31 was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, showcasing a unique blend of spices. The highlight for me was the Prawn Bhel, which brought together crunchy textures and tangy flavors, elevated by the fresh prawns—a creative and delightful twist on a classic. The cocktails were equally impressive. The Watermelon Fizz was refreshing, light, and fruity, while the Smoked Pineapple Margarita stood out with its smoky-sweet flavor profile, offering a perfect balance that complemented the meal. Overall, the food and drinks were delicious, portions were satisfying, and the pricing felt reasonable for the quality offered.

Cute place, friendly staff and lovely drinks. They serve only finger food, so plan the rest of your meal accordingly. Parking may be an issue. Over all a must visit when in Goa.
