Antonio's Cucina Italiano: Cozy Ambiance with a Mixed Dining Experience Antonio's Cucina Italiano in Beacon Hill exudes a dark and cozy charm, creating an intimate atmosphere perfect for a quiet evening. The dim lighting adds to the ambiance, making it a suitable spot for a relaxed dining experience. While the food was okay, it didn't quite hit the mark of greatness. The menu had its highlights, but the overall culinary journey left me with mixed feelings. On a positive note, the servers were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. While Antonio's may not become my regular haunt, I wouldn't be opposed to revisiting once in a while, perhaps for the inviting ambiance and the occasional craving for their fare.

I have been coming to Antonio's for 25 years! This is the best Italian food I have had in Boston! The Shrimp Grande Manier is epic. Every dish I have ever had here is absolutely delicious. In addition to the yummiest Italian, it is the most reasonable option in the whole city. It will cost you less than half of other spots. As evidenced by the half eaten plates, I couldn't help myself prior to taking pics. The food was so good, I attacked it before realizing I should take a Pic lol.

Very convenient location across from MGH (easy parking there for patients). Both entrees were large and good: a special shrimp in light wine, garlic, marinara sauce with squash; mussels with fish and clams. Disappointed by calamari appetizer that wasn’t very crisp but at least didn’t have peppers.

Second time there - very disappointing experience. First time was awesome - great food and a great service from Italian waiter. This was the reason why we went back again, even there are MANY great restaurants around. This time a female waitress ruined our experience. She rushed us so much that we were out on the street in total 15 minutes - this included ordering lunch, eating it, adding a desert with coffee and finishing all food. She REALLY, almost agressively pushed us out, even the place was almost empty - only 2 more table had people besides us. We didnt look as we had to rush and it was very unpleasant because we were tired, just wanted to rest, so we ordered lunch, deserts and drinks. We paid well, left a tip. The food was ok, but also not exceptional as the first time. Chicken cutlet was weird. Ziti with sauce was nice. Cheesecake was ok. To the restaurant owner: service DOES matter. Maybe as much or even more than the food. We will not be back. I am taking off stars from my previous review.

Google
Food was truly awful. I think they microwaved a frozen dish and the marinara sauce tasted like Ragu sauce. Insanely bad for the $20 price. Service was also abysmal. There was this tall big guy serving us and he was incredibly impatient and rude. It’s been a while since I’ve been this disappointed. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Google
Excellent lunch offerings. The plates are well stocked for the price you pay. Highly recommend if you are near Mass General and would like an affordable sit down lunch. The mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich. The bread had an excellent chew to it.

Good spot for a causal Italian dinner night. Got the stuffed clams, house salad, and linguine with chicken parm and white clams. Everything was decent and my favorites were the stuffed clams and the chicken parm. The quality of the linguine was just average, but I enjoyed the chicken parm on top which was juicy and tender. The white clams were nice as well, but it was somewhat bland overall. Their indoor dining has a nice cozy atmosphere that feels like home, and it definitely seemed like a decent place to relax and enjoy some causal Italian cuisines.

This was exactly what we hoped for when we went on the hunt for an authentic little Italian place. The food was great, and while the place isn’t fancy inside, it was very clean and our waiter was really awesome! I got the chicken + spinach special with homemade pasta (the lemon garlic sauce was seriously kick-a**) and my hubby got the bolganase which we follow up with espressos and cannolis! Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in Boston.

Yelp
Can a 20+ year old restaurant be considered a hidden gem? I have no idea, but every time I'm in the neighborhood I'll stop by for a sandwich or dinner. This past week I couldn't believe how quiet it was at 2pm. This place should've been packed! I've been going there for over ten years now and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Italian food is always fresh, and their sauce rivals what you might find in the North End. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out!

Yelp
Y'all know I usually don't give less than a 3 star but this place was just another level (in a different sense) Ordered veal and chicken parmigiana and they tasted nothing like it. Also they tasted the "same" - why order veal when it's same as the taste of chicken in this place? Another huge disappointment was the service- i couldn't even figure who the point of order was. Three staffs were seating down in the corner looking at their phone, singing along the songs out loud. Too chill - wayy too chill, not knowing that they are suppose to help us with an order. They had a huge star market bag on their table and chat throughout the whole dinner experience. When I asked where the bathroom is, one of the server just showed the direction by shooking her head and pointing with her eyes and then get back to phone. Worst dining experience ever

Peter W.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Each and every time we go to Mass Eye we enjoy Antonios. Excellent food and service. $15.00 for veal parmigiana lunch and chicken Caesar salad was delicious. Because of appointments we have enjoyed this place 3 times recently. Try it you like it We've been coming back for years.....

Yelp
It had been a few years since we visited Antonio's, but they didn't change. Still fantastic food and great service. We went on a VERY busy Saturday night (definitely should have a reservation). The restaurant was full, but in the time we were there they turned the entire place over once. The food was fantastic. And brought out piping hot. See attached pics. Because the restaurant was full and busy, it was difficult to have a conversation. We will be back.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Stopped in again today and we are just always impressed by this unpretentious little restaurant. The food is always delightful. We are creatures of habit always getting the Chicken Parm and the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo. My mother in law had the Chicken Antonio's with mushrooms, artichokes hearts, olives and broccoli and she loved it. Once again, the best cannot around. Bring em home because you will be too stuffed to eat them in house!

Alma C.

Yelp
Good clams & pasta, and vino. Nice and energetic service. I like how the restaurant isn't huge. Surprising location.

Erin O.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Antonio's and I was neither blown away nor disappointed. This restaurant is situated in the West End near Beacon Hill in a pretty good location close to public transit. We visited on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded, so I'd recommend getting a reservation if possible. I was able to try their prosecco and red wine, which were both tasty, as well as their antipasti which was more like a salad. For the main, I had their chicken parmigiana, and was completely blown away by the size of it. Although it did come with a side of pasta (either linguine or ziti), the plate was mostly just chicken. It was thin-cut and tasted good paired with the cheese and sauce, but nothing out of this world. The portion was so big that I couldn't finish it all, so I'd say it was definitely one of their dishes worth the price. For dessert I tried the tiramisu, which was okay but also nothing special. The overall service and atmosphere here was good, and if you're looking for a home-y restaurant with a mom-and-pop feel this may be it!

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place. It was loud and felt like places we visited in Italy. Then the food began to come out. Best part of the meal was the Caesar Salad. The homemade pasta was fine but the sauce on everything tasted like tomato sauce from a can with no seasoning or cooking to it. My eggplant Parmesan was mushy and covered in The same sauce with melted cheese. If you only have a few nights in Boston hard pass.

Dave G.

Yelp
Walked in and walked RIGHT out. It STUNK like B.O.! No exaggeration. We smelled it when we walked in, sat down and both smelled it. Thought it might have been fish or something but was the nastiest smell. I'd never go back.

Robert J.

Yelp
Got in late to Logan and wanted to find somewhere on Beacon Hill. Antonio's was the place, and they happily seated us around 9:15pm. Chicken Parmagiana was on point, fantastic service and capped it off with a pretty damn good cannoli. Enjoyed a good meal at a fair price, a nice option for me staying in Beacon Hill area.

Eliza N.

Yelp
Another great lunch. Have a nice lunch menu, nice pour of merlo. Had eggplant parm today delicious, nice portion. Other had special veal mushroom mozzarella. We love coming here.

Charles C.

Yelp
Excellent food. This place was packed when we went in a couple weeks ago on a Wednesday evening. The tables are a bit close and it was quite loud. I had to dang near yell to get my order in. But the food was really good. I got a salad and chicken parm. It was excellent!

Robert M.

Yelp
Had lunch special stuff veal. Very very good. Service wqas great. Pasta sauce was vert tasty.

Walter R.

Yelp
What a delightful surprise. We were in town for army navy and saw this place on yelp and took a shot. Very small and cozy. The staff were wonderful and the food just as good. Our daughter said the Parmesan was as good as any place she had ever been. My wife had the lobster ravioli and it was wonderful as was the clam linguini which I had Five stars for everything

Bob L.

Yelp
Food was delicious service was charming. Clam linguine was fantastic and pesto was on-point! Overall great!

Anissa C.

Yelp
Came here just for a quick bite the man that seated us was sooo rude he literally toast the menus on the table and walked the other way. The girls that brought us bread and water spilled water all over the table and didn't even bother to wipe it up. The lady that came and took our orders was a SWEET HEART!!! Very kind got my drink order wrong but her kindness made up for it. They make it very apparent when they want you to leave, they cleared out plates and gave us the bill at the same time while setting up for the next customer, didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. The prices were fair for what we ordered I had the Tortellini Alfredo it was ok.

Nod N.

Yelp
I guess the food is standard fare for Boston. But for what you receive, the prices are absurd. A plate of linguini with butter and 2 meatballs were $27 - before tip. Seriously, and it's was not that great. Their only hope is that the families of the patients across the street at MGH don't know any better and don't want to walk very far.

Shuang Z.

Yelp
I loved this Italian dinner in Cambridge street! Def solved my pasta craves while saving me a trip to the North End! The steak pizziola and seafood cioppino are my favs! The steak is cooked to perfection! Tender and juicy! And the portion is giant! If you are tired of American style steak and wanna try a perfectly sauced steak with pasta, this is your to go dish!

Matt D.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try this place during the pandemic because they had outdoor seating and had tables available at the last minute. After our meal, we can see why. The food was not that good. I could have made better Italian food at home. The drinks weren't any better either. It was fun eating outside and do some people watching. The waitress was friendly and check in on us regularly. If you want good Italian food go to the North End.

Chris B.

Yelp
Heavenly house made pasta, bolognese, Alfredo, Caesar salad a little gem! Love small, personal, well loved small restaurants.

Carlotta C.

Yelp
Very cute place, very nice staff and overall a great atmosphere but the food is meh and overpriced for the quality. I got the shrimp fra diavolo, the sauce was good but the pasta way over cooked and extremely under salted. The fried mozzarella was good but again nothing to go crazy over. Overall it was wayyy to overpriced

P S.

Yelp
Good fabulous every single time we go. One of my favorites restaurants for years. You don't need to go to the North End for some of the best Italian around.

Dee R.

Yelp
Marathon weekend madness and they still had smiles. It was busy of course but we got our to-go order perfect. Meatballs perfect, linguine was good but sauce was pretty mild. Would be back for next marathon weekend.

Betty L.

Yelp
The service was very good, the Manhattans were fair, nice pour, but the food was terrible. I ordered stuffed mushrooms, edible but not delicious. We also had the prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella app. That was the best part of the meal because it didn't require any cooking ability, it just needed to be assembled. The main courses were eggplant parm and chicken parm. The eggplant was soggy, unbreaded and fried. I feel they just took slabs of eggplant, steamed it maybe and threw some sauce and cheese on it then baked it to melt the cheese. Unfortunately, I had to send it back. Could not eat it. The chicken parm, even though looked prepared correctly; breaded, fried, sauce and cheese, my husband couldn't identify that it was chicken and when I tasted it, it was clearly reheated chicken. Probably mass prepared and then reheated or thawed in a microwave. Again, the staff was friendly and attentive and the restaurant seemed clean and comfortable.

Yelp
Racist restaurant. My waiter called me a racial slur in Italian as he was talking to the people in the kitchen. I wasn't rude, didn't have any attitude and just sat down where he directed me to. I was in Boston on a work trip and came in on Tuesday evening and was seated at a table over next to the doorway to the kitchen. There were only 3 other tables occupied and my waiter was a fat older gentleman. I was seated in the chair next to the walkway and as my waiter walked passed me, he elbowed me on the head as he zoomed by to the kitchen. It happened so quickly that the first time I thought it was an accident but it kept happening two more times. I'm a 28 year old petite Asian woman and was just shocked at what was going on that I just boxed up my dinner and left. The food was also just bland; the worst runny pasta I've ever had. Look at the reviews - I bet all the positive ones are mostly fake (or paid for) considering how many of them only have 1 or 2 reviews. Just disgusting. Please put this restaurant out of business. I'm going to make sure that my experience is shared on every social media platform.

Eva G.

Yelp
tried to eat dinner here tonight - i made an opentable reservation for 7:15. i arrived at 7:10 and checked in, and was told it would be a few minutes. we waited until 7:50, then told the host we'd like to be taken off the list and would not be eating here, which he seemed really surprised at. several tables with later reservations who arrived after us were seated before we were.

Kevin L.

Yelp
The food was good, yes. However, the waiter was extremely rude. He literally THREW the bread, appetizer, and our main course on the table. My spoon even fell into my lap. He didn't check on us, we couldn't get water refill, and he was just very short with us the whole time - but he was nice to the table of white girls behind us? What is this an episode of how to be obviously racist? Absolutely ridiculous. Also some staffs weren't wearing a mask but were coughing like there's no tomorrow. Need me to remind you the pandemic isn't over and in fact is getting worse? The LEAST you can do is pretend to care and mask up.

Luke H.

Yelp
Went here with my girlfriend a few weeks back. A bit of a wait to get a spot and it is fairly small. The staff was great though. We had some tasty mozzarella bites for an app. The pasta was fairly underwhelming I hate to say it. Maybe I'm spoiled by my Italian girlfriend and grandma's meatballs. But the tomato sauce was pretty bland. Just didn't stand out to me.

Raj T.

Yelp
Simple and straight forward. No frills homemade Italian food , no smiles just order drink eat and get out. If you want a good meal def worth a shot.

Deb H.

Yelp
This place is not real Italian food and no help from waitstaff. Really poor quality all around. Wish I had gone somewhere else with all the voices in Boston.

Steve M.

Yelp
Always cooked just right don't know how they do it but takeout pasta is never overcooked !! Nice people !!

Carol J.

Yelp
My husband and I had a nice dinner here after a nearby doctor appointment. We chose this restaurant for its convenient location, but were not disappointed. This is not a gourmet restaurant, but a casual, unassuming family run type of place with good basic, affordable Italian fare. We enjoyed all the food and service. I think they do what they do well. The portions were huge (my husband got 3 meals from his chicken/eggplant parmigiana entree). We had so much food left to take home that the waiter offered us more bread to take to make sandwiches! My husband doesn't eat pasta, so a vegetable substitution was gladly offered by the competent, accommodating waiter. He was brought a huge platter of broccoli with fresh garlic that he kept raving about. It looked like a family sized portion. Also, they serve very large, potent martinis so no need to order a second drink! I ordered the chicken al Antonio, which I enjoyed. A nice mix of chicken and veggies in a light white wine sauce. Our dinner entree's were around $25 each. House wine $8/glass, martinis $13-14.

Brian H.

Yelp
Joined for lunch and would recommend. Had great service and a delicious lunch in what has the atmosphere of an authentic Italian restaurant.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Ordered lunch from here through a delivery service to work and it was ok. Ordered the Pesto chicken caprese salad and it was ok except the pesto had hardly any taste and looked like mashed up baby food out of jar. Sorry but I dont need to be protected from too much basil and garlic, load it up next time and make it look a bit more appetizing why dont you. Chicken was a little overcooked and in all, it was good because I was hungry but nothing to write home about. Skip it and travel about 100 yards to the North end and you can find better food. For $14 bucks I would of preferred a decent lunch.

Eric M.

Yelp
Everyone says the north end has all the good Italian food, but I will say Antonio's is right up there with any of the north end restaurants. We started with an order of garlic bread which was great. Plenty of fresh garlic and nicely toasted. I had a glass of the house Chianti which was a very nice glass of wine. I had the veal special of the day which was breaded veal stuffed with buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto and served over your choice of pasta with red sauce with mushrooms and white wine. The red sauce was one of the best red sauces I have had out in a restaurant anywhere. My wife had the chicken piccata and she stated it was very tasty. My daughter had pasta with oil and garlic. Portion size were large and left overs for all. I would not hesitate to return to Antonio's when we are back to visit our daughter at Suffolk University. Highly recommend!

Amy M.

Yelp
Arrived a bit early and they accommodated Us We felt VERY rushed! Hurry wine (minimal selection by the glass/only sub par wines) Salas arrived in less than 5 min from ordering. Over dressed and had to have 25 croutons in it! I ordered the Special Bologna's w homemade pasta cam in a small bowl. Pasta mushy very little meat and very watery. Tasted like the Soup Pasta Fasoule The waiter was lovely and did not charge. My friend got the eggplant parm sauce very bland We were in and out in 40 min. What to do now? Go have a nice glass of wine :)

Monica B.

Yelp
Happened to dine here on a whim! Walking distance to The Whitney Hotel. Man, the food was amazing! The martini was made to perfection. We started with an appetizer that was on the special menu.... It was a shrimp that was just great. Both our pasta meals were exquisitely prepared! Pasta alla Antonio and the chicken Ziti Saldate. A casual, family feel atmosphere with friendly staff. I would recommend- lots of food for the price- if you're local plan on leftovers!

Lynne M.

Yelp
As an inpatient at MGH I was looking for a place to order from because the food at MGH m M look is terrible. Antonios so close we thought we'd give it a try The food was excellent, especially for takeout. It's very hard to get higher quality food to taste well when you bring it home. I had the chicken piccata with extra lemon, with the homemade fusilli on the side. They have other pasta options on the side but the fuzzil is homemade fresh pasta for a bit of extra money. It was cooked perfect and I was quite surprised. Usually pasta at restaurants is overcooked and especially when it's takeout. I asked for extra lemon and bread on the side with butter. Everything was included in the order, nothing was forgotten. My husband had the chicken Parm with a side of ziti. He said the chicken was excellent and the ziti was also cooked perfectly. Between the both of us we were very satisfied. The packing of the food was also great, the containers were higher quality and everything was packed appropriately. All in all it's a great place for takeout especially if you're stuck in the hospital!

Eldranique J.

Yelp
Was staying nearby so thought I'd give this place a try . Food -O outta 5 fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp my noodles barely had anything on them they tasted like like water . ANDDD I HAD HAIR IN MY FOOD !! Place - when I walked in I was NOT greeted by the workers sitting down talking

Cassie H.

Yelp
I have been back a few more times since my first visit and it just keeps getting better. The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable. I've been to a couple places in the North End but none even compare to Antonio's. The best!!

Jim B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and very good service combined with a well-prepared and reasonably priced Italian meal.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Ate here with my wife for the very first time today, and the last time. It's totally amateur hour at this place, with no professionalism or refinement. The food was norhing special. How can you mess up pasta with melted cheese on top and tomato sauce anyway. Rather than just change and update the menu with the correct prices, they have a small tag at the bottom of the menu indicating that everything on the menu was now $1 more. My Spinach Ravioli was $19,50. The waiter with the beard and gold chain and cross brought the bill which indicated a charge of $21.00. That is actually $1.50 more, not $1 more. We had not noticed the tag on the bottom of the menu when we ordered, indicating that everything was now $1 more, and so we asked the waiter why our bill was off. He informed us about the tag on the menu that indicated the increase. We stated "Why don't you just update the menu as people may not notice the tag." He didn't answer us. He walked away and complained to a waitress that we had the nerve to question the bill. The waitress rolled her eyes. As we were put off with this we decided to only leave $3.00 on a $50 bill. As we got up and walked away towards the door, he couldn't wait to grab the bill to see what we left. We weren't even at the door when he yelled across the restaurant, in front of patrons, "They only left $3.00!!" My wife at the door told the woman hostess--who may be the owner--that the waiter was rude, and they should not be charging prices that do not match the menu. This place is a mess.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Everything is just ok. Nothing really stands out except for its location. Service is ok, food is acceptable, and the wine is a little less than average.

Katrina J.

Yelp
I actually want to give it a 3.5 but not an option. The service was solid, we were seated and helped immediately. It wasn't particularly warm service but it was fair and timely. The wine and mimosas were good! My mom ordered lobster ravioli and my dad ordered tortellini soup. They both really enjoyed their meals. I ordered Gnocchi marinara and didn't enjoy it at all. Thankfully the woman helping us didn't give me a hard time about sending it back. Nothing to quite write home about but maybe I just didn't get their star dish.

Erin R.

Yelp
This was an overall excellent meal!! We ordered takeout and they sent us bread with the meal. I was very happy that my shrimp Alfredo was made with fresh fettuccine (not box) and it was a very big serving, plenty for next day's leftovers! The flavor was delicious but I only got 5 shrimps which was kind of disappointing for the extra cost. We also had chicken piccata which was delicious, but nothing super special. Overall a great experience.

Patrick K.

Yelp
Smaller restaurant with phenomenal dishes (Shrimp and broccoli, lobster ravioli). Great shrimp appetizer, attentive service.

George B.

Yelp
I had a pretty good meal here while I had family staying at the hospital. I was very happy to be able to wander in on a Thursday and get a table for 2 right away. There are a few wines and cocktails to chose from to start your meal but on this particular occasion I was not drinking. Some of the martinis did catch my eye though. Bread comes out at the start of the meal. Its bread. Nothing fancy about it. I thought I knew what I wanted to eat after reviewing the menu. Then I heard about the stuffed veal special. I ordered that in a heartbeat. I got a veal cutlet stuffed with some cheese and ham (maybe it was prosciutto, I can't remember precisely). It was pretty good and the sauce that came with it was fine. I would probably order something different if I came through again. No one flavor particularly stood out. Service was very prompt and friendly. They also didn't bat an eye at preparing a order of meatballs to bring into the hospital. I bet they get that a lot!

Whitney F.

Yelp
I got the pesto tortellini and it was to die for. The pesto was homemade and the tortellini taste like it. 10/10 recommend. A very home restaurant!!

Zoë T.

Yelp
Server was so sweet and service was very fast! Had the fried mozzarella and it was amazing! Got the fusilli with meatballs and they were genuinely the juiciest meatballs I've ever had they were so flavorful and delicious. Very authentic Italian. I was so full but so satisfied.
