People Are Threatening Bay Area Caviar Company Tsar Nicoulai Even Though It Has No Ties to Russia | Eater SF

"I appreciated 48 Hills’ roundup pointing out that Anton’s Pizza & Deli serves the El Puerquito Mexican pizza — a dish that doesn’t actually sound much like Taco Bell’s fan-favorite, but still sounds pretty delicious." - Lauren Saria

I ordered a unique pie on New Year's Eve, it was a mash up if a Hawaiian on one side and a Supreme on the other. The ingredients did indeed taste fresh and the crust was also tasty and felt very local in taste of ingredients. My pizza however was a bit on the cold side, I arrived as I instructed and the women answering the phones and serving up the takeouts seemed a bit frazzled And lacked customer service. I saw her grab my pizza from off the top of the oven, not in the regular pizza holding area. Not sure what happened I guess it was ready far earlier than they quoted for me. This was my first go at this spot and unless I saw a great special I probably won't be returning.

Google
Thank you Anton's! Jesus & George were great to work with. 15 pizzas ordered. Our order was correct and delivery was right on time. Pizza crust was thick but not too thick. Veggie pizza was good and veggies were fresh (ordered 1). Combo, pepperoni and pepperoni/sausage pizzas were ordered. Everyone enjoyed them. We appreciate you taking this order. I called and placed the order the day before. They were happy to work with us. Thank you Anton's!

Google
Friendly staff, pizza is great, nice mix of Italian and latin America atmosphere (thanks to El Capitian Taqueria being next door)

Google
They guys were very nice! Made two pizzas for us and they are very good! Next time I come to San Francisco I am definitely coming to try more pizzas!

Google
The slice is here are massive, and the quality is great, 1 Slice is literally a whole meal.

Google
This review is only about my most recent visit. It would be a 1 star if not for their actual pizza. This time I ordered the Greek salad. Firstly the employees don't even know what goes into their own food other than pizza. Second they had no cucumber or balsamic vinegarette. Third the employee lied to my face saying he was putting balsamic vinegarette in the container when it clearly said Italian. Fourth the cheese he used was either not feta or the worst feta I have ever tasted. Gross. Fifth... the employees used bare hands and dirty surfaces. Sixth, he tried to for whatever reason put grilled corn in the salad when that isnt even an ingredient on any of their salads at all. Finally, cutting up 3 whole tomatoes to make up for the missing items when I clearly requested he just add more lettuce instead. I paid for the meal, but baby, whoever is in charge needs to train that employee again because he clearly was confused on multiple levels

Google
Quick slices to-go plus tons of other options. Jesus and Patty will always serve up the best. Prices are great and the quality is consistent so I've visited many times and always bring people there when they ask about a good local pizza place.

Spencer S.

Google
Tried this place because it was open late and was highly disappointed. It’s clear they don’t use quality ingredients nor do they take care in preparing food.

Yelp
Sometimes all fine but sometimes burnt pizza. Sometimes nice staff but sometimes lazy.

Yelp
I got a quick slice since i was going to a show next door at f8 and i got hungry! if u hear carefully u can actually hear what's playing at f8 if u sit inside near the counter haha honestly this place is not bad at all - i paid $8 for a supreme pizza and it came with pineapples and jalapeños (giving what the people want!) which was a nice surprise! another surprise was the person serving me tried to just give me the slice without reheating it which i thought was weird since i clearly said i wanted to eat it there so obliged and reheat it for me i think the pizza is a bit doughy but fresh and pretty thin for my east coast standards and did the job with being a good late night stop. the pizza can benefit from a thinner crust but overall NOT BAD. As others mention just make sure they charge u the right amount. overall i would stop by again if i was really hungry near the clubs! esp since they put pineapple on pizza (sorry to all the pineapple hatets) food 3.75/5 service 3/5 ambiance 3/5 value 3/5

Yelp
I do not tip on to go orders, unless I receive my order in excellent condition - and neither should you... But I could tell the guy was having an attitude because I wrote "to go" on my tip line... So what happens next? I get a burnt and crisp Hawaiian pizza that sat in the oven for four minutes. To think, you typically tip on good service... There's no way of knowing if my food would be burnt with or without a tip... Which is why I do not tip on to go orders. A full circle moment.

Yelp
The issue is the overcharging. I was charged a combo price for a pepperoni slice, and when I confronted them, they said "we just haven't updated the menu with the new prices!" (I.e. we are knowingly showing lower prices on the menu than the prices we actually charge.) I recommend avoiding this spot until the owner addresses this behavior.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would. This is not the first time I tried their food. You're better off getting a $10 hot dog from the vendors on sidewalk. I intentionally didn't write a review the first time. I thought, I'll give them another chance. Stay away from this place. (Worst pizza in SOMA) I had a slice with chicken on it. Right away I could tell it wasn't fresh. This pizza seemed like a day old. The chicken tasted bad, like it had been sitting out too long and went bad. I think the health dept might want to investigate. See if these guys are certified to "handle food". I feel like I may have gotten food poisoning from this place more than once. Never again. These guys love your late night, drunk money but don't care much about your health.

Yelp
This was a late night meal I decided to order. The mozzarella bread with the marina sauce was on point. I ordered the chicken wings thinking it was actual chicken wings but instead got chicken tenders with ranch and bbq dressing lol. The house pie was okay, not the best but really reminds me of the combo pizza at Costco with the thick crust and the variety of toppings. Not the best pie but definitely a good spot to order from for a late night snack. I would not normally order from here but in comparison to other late night options, it's not bad.

Yelp
We were looking for pizza open late in the area on a Saturday night and found Anton's. It was perfect because they were open till 3am, and sold slices (we wouldn't be able to finish a whole pizza). Those slices were humongous, wow! And though this would probably be considered cheap pizza, I thought it was quite good, reheated by the worker and taken to go, it was crispy on the bottom, toppings tasted fresh and delicious, a great balance of saltiness and a smoky flavor from the oven, it was really satisfying and such great value (only $5 for a giant slice). Also, the worker serving us was super friendly.  The area is not the safest neighborhood, but it also wasn't scary walking at night, not disgusting like the tenderloin. The pizza parlor only had a few seats inside, super tiny space (attached with a shared entryway to El Capitan Taqueria, also open late). There's outdoor parklet seating as well. If you're looking for good cheap pizza, look no further.

Aurris G.

Yelp
The food is generally good but the service is absolutely awful. I got the bbq burger and specifically asked for cheese and even said my order twice to the worker(he's usually the one working at night) he claimed that he didn't hear me when I brought the burger back and I simply asked if he could put cheese on it and he rudely refused stating that "we don't put cheese on that burger" I've come in during the day and asked for the same thing from a different worker and the quantity of the food was so much better and I didn't even need to ask for cheese and other fixings but this particular worker did the bare minimum and was rude when I kindly asked him to fix it. To make it worse. The person who seemed to be the manager stood but and didn't say anything.

Yelp
This is a great place to visit after (or even before) bar hopping since they're open pretty late (not sure why yelp says closes at 9pm, they're definitely open past that) and conveniently located next to F8 and down the street from Raven Bar. Don't expect the best pizza in the world, but it's cheap, slices are large, there's plenty of seating, and everything is delicious when you're drunk! Oddly enough, the chicken strips are really good and I'm a big fan of their ranch.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Peaked in after a night of dancing at The Cat Club while I was waiting for my Uber. I didn't realize how big the slices were so while I was watching out for my ride, I ordered two slices. Holy crap they are huge!!!! 1 slice is enough for one person. These pizza slices are ginormous! The tomato on the pizza was amazing but everything else was just ok. The dough wasn't great but that being said, if you just danced the night away, a slice from here isn't bad! Not something I'd crave but definitely does the job. Also be aware the slices are HUGE!
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Cool spot if you're in the city after a night of drinking and want a quick bite to eat before heading home. A plus is that their slices are huuuuge. For $4~ a slice, I guess it's worth it since they are about the size of my arm!
google avatar

Norman W.

Yelp
Pizzas are amazing. Definitely try the breakfast pizza (fresh). Only thing is don't trust the hours posted on here. Says they are open to 3am but they play by their own rules. I stood outside trying to wave down someone to assist me only you told they were closed as he drink his beer. Hella unprofessional.
google avatar

Craig V.

Yelp
Very solid pizza place with large slices! Being one of the places open later in the night, it's great to be able to come here and get pizza post-club or just for a late night meal. Ordered a couple of slices and they were decently priced, and were over heated. The pizza has a thick crust which holds the toppings since the slice is quite large. Normal types are Hawaiian, supreme, pepperoni, and combo pepperoni & sausage.

Yelp
Yay For A New Pizza Spot Near Cat Club (That is NOT DNA Pizza) SITREP Heading back to Sacramento after hitting the bars or clubbin in SOMA usually has meant "delayed gratification" when it comes to getting a bite to eat. In terms of timing, if we are lucky to be trucking along I-80 and in the Pinole hood in East Bay on Fitzgerald for In N Out before 1:30am, then that's great. But often we don't leave SOMA until well after 1am-1:30am - way too late. There's always the Jack-in-the-Boxes at Pinole Way, in Vallejo and at Red Top. But do you always want Jack? So imagine how nice it's been to have Anton's Pizza and Deli (aka "Anton's) as a closeby option now! Sure they close earlier, but at least it's close by to grab before midnight and you don't have to leave (and drive from) the club's "zone". https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/antons-pizza-and-deli-san-francisco?select=lBOmwejuZj4dkvz2nvxFwA THE SETUP The food situation used to be much more bustling in this neck of the woods. But unfortunate things have happend: * Wicked Grounds is no longer open til 2am with food like it used to be back in the day; * Local authorities have done a "fine job" of scaring off the hot dog vendors on their little carts just down from the Cat Club front entrance, though none of them ever rose to the level of the hot dog stand at the corner of 7th & Folsom, which "retired." * DNA Pizza of late has been very disappointing, and much more expensive than it's competition ($6 a slice). * Chico's is very decent ($4.50 a slice), but it's all the way over on 6th near Market St., and decidedly a concern for the safety of your car (for even 15 minutes to get the pizza) let along NOT a simple trip to FIND parking around there. So the hassle of finding late night post-midnignt food was a problem for many years. PIZZZA IN DA HOOD! Anton's is such a pleasant find of late, just down from the door of Cat Club (my favorite venue in SOMA). Lots of pizza to choose from, though I'm basically a cheese, pepperoni (sometimes Combo) kind of guy! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/antons-pizza-and-deli-san-francisco?select=ijx38kAz1euX55cxJlNEfw Tonight we got the: * Cheese; https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/antons-pizza-and-deli-san-francisco?select=MKioTkhjYXiqi-py2f1gnw and, * Combo https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/antons-pizza-and-deli-san-francisco?select=nNnDMDgXv9xHQvmqEJ8o4Q I've had bad pizza, but I still go back for the bad pizza - and put up with it - because at 2am, at least it's something to fill the panging hole in your stomach. And as the old saying goes, "Pizza is like SEX: when it's good, it's REALLY good; but when it's bad, it's STILL pretty good!" But this isn't bad pizza - it's GOOD pizza - bites from each verified that, and they most definitely & pleasantly hit the spot for us. Now, neither am I gonna bill these slices as "The Second Coming" - but again, GOOD slices, made even better at $4.50 each at slice when you compare to other late night spots charging $6-$7 a slice. You can certainly do a HELLUVA lot worse in the constellation of pizza stars in SF, and, for me, much further away to get at to boot. THE LOWDOWN The pizza is good (not great, but not bad either) and it hits the spot - at 2am, that's the biggest metric I care about.

Yelp
I ordered through UberEATS they immediately called me and asked me to cancel. I cancelled and got charged for nothing. UberEATS told me that they could have cancelled on their end and I wouldn't have been charged.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night for a quick bite to eat. We ordered a large pesto chicken pizza and added jalapeños. Took about 20 min for the pizza to be ready, but we just sat outside at the outdoor seating while we waited. We were actually able to get some drinks from next door while we waited haha. The pizza was great, it was SUPER flavorful. We shared the pizza between 3 people and still had leftovers. I love that it is super close to my apartment, will definitely be coming here often.
google avatar

Debasmita R.

Yelp
Hands down the best pesto chicken pizza I've ever had!! My friend has been hyping this place up so we had to check it out and wow she was 100% right, this pizza hits different. We got a large pesto chicken pizza and added jalapeños and *chef's kiss* it was AMAZING.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Friendly customer service. Some of the best garlic bread I've ever had! Meat Lovers Pizza was delicious too.

Maggie A.

Yelp
Horrible service and experience. I ordered online and waited after the time it said to be picked up. Only to come to the counter and be told that they didn't get started on my order because their printer was not working correctly. And if I wanted to wait another 20 min for my food. I had asked if my order could be canceled and refunded, and they told me no you can call your bank and see if you can get your money back. And the cook in the back not knowing I speak Spanish starts yelling in Spanish to the cashier lady "tell her to go fuck myself if she's in a hurry". I told the cashier lady I speak Spanish and understand it. The service is horrible. The pizza they had out to sell by the slice had flies around it. I dont recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Honestly this is THE place to go after f8. If you want a wholesome ending for the night, please visit this place. Their onions rings are crispy to perfection.. eating them While I'm waiting for the pizza. If you meet Jesus at this place he RUNS the store. 5 stars for service and their fresh pizza
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
The dough, crust, cheese, and red sauce are very similar to Costco's pizza but with variety of better toppings that were decently fresh. The texture of the cheese is a more gummy melty texture than a stretchy mozzerella if you know what I mean. The crust is thick and bready. I ordered: 1) Anton's special with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions. This is very similar in flavor to Costco's. 2) American Bacon with garlic and onions. This was supposed be made with white sauce but realized it was red when I got home. The bacon was semi soggy, and I couldn't taste any of the garlic. It was still good, I liked it better than #1. Verdict: It's not gourmet but a satisfying, cheap large slice after bar hopping.

Diane T.

Yelp
We tried their calzone tonight, and it was just delicious! No crazy thick crust... so light and flakey... wow!! We built our own with chicken, bacon, spinach and mushroom on white sauce. It WAS large but by the time I thought to take a picture, more than half was gone! And same with their steak pizza, which never fails us! This place is a no brainer... eat it and you'll understand!
google avatar

Sam E.

Yelp
Pizza Slices well rectangular pizza. Basically a dressed up foccacia. Good ingredients. And keeps thee eyes visually enticed while in line. Always go with your first choice, if you can't make up your mind. Or just buy all of it!
google avatar

Alec S.

Yelp
I chose this over the taqueria next door, and I'm glad I did. 2 huge pizza slices and a soda for $10 you can't beat it if you're really hungry. Good dough, and served piping hot. Honestly you can probably get away with eating one slice, they are that big
google avatar

Jacob D.

Yelp
Last night I went here for some late night food. After repeating my order at least a half a dozen times, my order was still wrong, I asked for no pickles on my burger and still got pickles on them, I was charged for an extra order of fries that I didn't want, the jalapeño poppers were burned, when we were handed the bag of food they neglected to tell us that we needed to grab our own drinks from the cooler so when we got home we didn't have our drinks. This was the first and I highly doubt I'll return.
google avatar

Paige C.

Yelp
Worst wings I've ever had. Came plain with a side of franks hot sauce. Would not recommend their wings. Anything else would be better
google avatar

Luke S.

Yelp
THis place is great very authentic. It taste like I am in New York. The pizza came to me hella fast yet perfection. it was warm and tasty . I had a great scenery and the service was great. Hell if I want tacos I can just walk in the other room.
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
Not bad for a late night slice of pizza but it's decidedly mediocre. The crust is spongy without having any real oven spring to the crust. Lots of cheese and toppings but the sauce felt like an afterthought. I'd come back again if it was on my way someplace and late at night, but otherwise there's probably better slices to be had in the city.
google avatar

Howard Louis V.

Yelp
Easy to use online ordering. Very fast, friendly delivery. And don't let their competitive pricing fool you, everything is First Class! Delicious, chewy handcrafted thin crust, just the way I like it. Ample toppings, flavorful cheeses, on a layer of well balanced sauce. I loved it. Also ordered Pesto Bread and what a steal! A meal in itself and delicious. Pesto tasted fresh yet not overpowering. Lots of Mozzarella. Perfecto!

Bob D.

Yelp
never delivered my order as promised. did not refund my money. stay away from this place!
google avatar

James E.

Yelp
I order from here at least once a week. Food quality is great, employees are super friendly, and the prices are totally reasonable for downtown SF. The "San Francisco" pizza is absolute "fire" and their burger/fries portions are totally generous. If you're in the area, give the (fresh) pizza here a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Linda S.

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here when I need comfort/late night food. The pasta options are great when you want comfort takeout or after a night out.
google avatar

P C.

Yelp
Wow. Great food. Delivery on time etc. Mozzarella sticks were probably by far fresher n better than I have at other places. Pizza hot n fresh. Yum.
google avatar

T A.

Yelp
Yo! No lie this place really hit the spot. The Hawaiian pizza is A1 the regular pepperoni slice I had was bomb as well. Hot, fast and yummy!!!

Rayshone W.

Yelp
A worker/cashier there name is Jesus he was very nice to me and was asking me was the food complimentary just like a good worker would do and I felt welcomed, he deserve a raise and on top of that he's a great cook and asked me exactly how I wanted my food
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Surprisingly good pizza. Crispy, chewy crust. Good toppings. Huge slices. I like it. I had a spinach geta chicken slice. Very good. And a hawaiian. Also very good. Definitely eating there again.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Garbage. Absolute garbage. It's impossible to lift a slice of pizza without everything falling off of it. The cheese tastes like something they pulled right out of the dumpster. These pizza slices aren't worth $1. Much less $4 each. Do not eat here. Do not give these people your money.

Meredith M.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! Terrible customer service and NO HELP AT ALL! There are much better pizza places in the area so I highly reccomend that you do not waste your time here!!! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would without hesitation.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
The pizza is delicious and the pastas are even better. I recommend this place. I come by every time I'm around but try to go before 11:30 because they get the busiest at lunch.

Brandon C.

Yelp
As cliche as this sounds: "I wish I could give them zero stars." That's because I ordered food from them an hour and a half ago and it never arrived. I ordered at 5:30 PM and was told that it should arrive around 6:00-6:10 PM. At 6:11 PM I get a text message saying the ordered is delayed and will arrive between 6:20-6:30 PM. At 6:31 PM I get a text message saying the order is delayed and will arrive between 6:40-6:50 PM. At 7:05 PM I still hadn't received my order so I called the restaurant. The phone ringed 6 times and then a voice mail picked up: "We're sorry. This mailbox is full and there is no alternative number to reach.". Oh well. I try to give places the benefit of the doubt for slip ups but there's *literally* no fixing this. Deuces, Anton's!
google avatar

Clancy Y.

Yelp
We ordered pizza from grubhub the deal is amazing and the delivery guy is super nice and helpful. The food is good too!

Abhilash K.

Yelp
Very friendly, amazing pizza place! Go for it! I tried the vegetarian pizza - extra large one.
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
Pizza and chicken wings are decently done, they don't do sandwiches anymore, skip the garlic bread (looked and tasted like split hot dog buns with pizza cheese on top..) As much as I want to like Anton's + El Capitan next door, I'm underwhelmed by the food quality everytime :( I live right around the corner so I keep coming back out of convenience though.
google avatar

David A R.

Yelp
Why does this place have 4.5 stars? The pizza is So weak. The dough is spongy, the sauce lacks flavor. The result is that each limp pizza slice taste almost sweet not savory. Price? Two slices and a regular Coke for $10.21? Seriously. Not coming back here.
google avatar

Torrey P.

Yelp
This place just opened up where Citizen's Band used to be. I was disappointed Citizen's closed down, but this is a refreshing replacement. Anton's has awesome hours, so I've already stopped by after leaving F8 super late and wasted. The taqueria section has Mexican food that is on par with Mission taquerias, which is great. Definitely excited to check out the pizzeria side when it's done.
google avatar

Gill S.

Yelp
So far I have been to this place a few times during lunch hours and always ordered a slice. The place is clean, the guy behind the counter is nice but the pizza is just ok. The toppings and sauce are fine but the dough/crust is dry, not chewy but dry. Prices for slices vary by the toppings. Overall, if I need pizza as a proper meal, this is not where I would head. If I need just a slice or little snack, this place is not bad.

Derick Y.

Yelp
Wow... i would rather buy frozen pizza and wait for my oven to not preheat and end up eating frozen pizza. The pizza took about 45 minutes when it was 15 minutes in the first place.. meh crust and really awful cheese.

Joseph G.

Yelp
Nice family-run little joint. This pizza is super simple but spot on with flavors. They must have sourced the best ingredients available. Had the largest size pizza, half tutti di carni ("all the meat") and half bird special (chicken, pesto, feta) both with red sauce, and unlike the typical pizza the taste got better the more we ate. We're already planning to get another four days after our first experience with Anton's. Treat yourself!

Bryan D.

Yelp
Delivery was fast and the pizza was picturesque and the delivery man was very cordial. Would recommend for a late night hunger.
