Aoki Teppanyaki and Izakaya

Went on a Monday afternoon 3pm. Place was empty. One table in a section. Server mainly spoke Spanish, I needed my friend to translate. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Food pictures look good 😆 Gratuity was added on a table for 3 people? 🙄

Wow. I have never had a worse experience. The waiter was extremely inattentive. We had to ask for refills, then when he never came back, had to ask him again for refills. Had to literally get up and walk around the restaurant to find someone to get us our check. Found our server, he goes back behind the bar and never comes back. I get up to go searching for him again and he’s texting and not working. Go up to him and he says “how can I help you” UMMMM our check!!!! My drink was trash and the food was adequate at best. It was $70 for 2 people to eat. So disappointed.

I recommend reservations if possible as it is hibachi it takes a bit longer. We started with the God of fire roll, this was spicy but a flavorful spicey. We all did the special, wagu steak twin lobster tails. This also came with the house salad (not a fan of ginger dressing so it was ok), veggies and fried rice. The steak and lobster were definitely worth the price it was delicious and a good amount of food. I had to take some home. The old fashioned was super smooth and way too easy to drink. The Tokyo Sour was also refreshing and delicious. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert, but don't fear I will most assuredly go back and make it to dessert next time.

The food is not the only thing that keeps you coming back! From the delicious combination of the rice, veggies, and 2 choices of protein with any sauce( it is especially good with teriyaki) and yum yum sauce which makes your mouth water even thinking about it. I also was convinced into trying the bao buns. I am not exaggerating when i say it is one of the best things i have ever put in my mouth! This experience has definitely raised my expectation to any hibachi place! Aside from the very yummy food, the service was friendly and went above and beyond to make it a very memorable and great experience. I will definitely be coming back and recommend everyone to give it a try!

Hostess was unfriendly, refused to let my wife, 2yr son, and me to sit down at a table because one other person in our party was not present and in a store checking out, even tho the restaurant was completely empty at 11:30am. Waitress was in a rush for some reason got only half our order before we had to flag her down to get the rest of our order, forgot to bring drink, I guess that what’s happens when they don’t need to work for their tip since they add 18% tip to your bill anyways. Do not recommend.

Food was good. Our chef, Javie was 5 star. The wait for our food was incredibly long. Why I am giving a 2 star review? The bathrooms were disgusting. When I pay close to 100 for a meal, including drinks, I expect a clean bathroom. The bathrooms have not had a proper cleaning in a long time. Absolutely disgusting!! The baby changing table…no words.

Aoki Teppanyaki is very beautiful inside and out. The food is delicious (portion sizes were good) and the drinks are great. Service not so great, a tad bit slow. The restaurant area was pretty crowded. And if you like sushi, you must try the Hearty warrior, super tasty!!

Tonight was my first time going and definitely the last. First a lady working with the hostess said she was going to get us a table and never came back. We waited a loooong time and finally I got tired and asked someone else to help us get a table and he did after a little while. It was a table for 2 and the restaurant wasn’t even full. All this time and the hostess is seating playing with her phone looking like she hated everything and everyone. Then the waitress was completely clueless about everything. She couldn’t answer any questions about the menu or the drinks and didn’t even try to find out. Pretty much all she would say was I don’t know. It was shocking. You would think the staff would be familiar or at least have an idea of the food served. 0 knowledge and what’s worse 0 effort. And to top it all off the restaurant automatically includes an 18% gratuity on the bill. The food was also mediocre. Never coming back and definitely do not recommend this place.

Loved it. Pierre was our chef and he was great. The food was seriously so delicious. The flavors were amazing and I would definitely return. Good vibes. The servers for the drinks were a little slow but otherwise it was good. A little chilly inside (bc they are cooking!) so plan accordingly.

This was my first time visiting Aoki and we came with a party of ten here were my pros /cons: Pros: our chef was very kind and accommodating. We had decent service and the restaurant is very nice inside. I appreciated the kids menu and overall the food tasted great. Cons: unfortunately I didn't keep the food down for long as I have a shellfish allergy which I notified the chef and staff of but something was definitely contaminated so I was sick and vomiting immediately after. This place gets very pricey very quick so be aware of cost when ordering. They're also not stroller friendly - I basically had to shove my kids in a corner to get everyone to fit. Not sure if we'll be back, for the price I rather keep my food down and thank goodness it wasn't worse!

Lunch service, relatively empty and we were seated right away. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant near the bar. Decor is nice and adequate for the space. I've been here a few times, but it is the first time reviewing. The first few times we felt the portions were small for the price and that still remains with the portions. Everything ordered was fresh and well prepared. Service was efficient and courteous. Hot green tea was very good, smooth. We had the Spicy Tuna Deluxe and the god Of Fire roll. Overall we would visit again, the portions do need to be a little bigger for the price compared to other sushi restaurants in the kendall area but the taste and quality is very good.

Fabian you are an amazing server. Thank you for the lovely experience you gave my daughter and I the best service and made it all so fun. The food here is delicious and authentic! The ambiance is absolutely breathtaking and super romantic! Love this place !

The place is so cute and full of beautiful decor you really forget You're in a mall! Super clean and had great vibes ! Every single person is smiley and happy and greets you as well as treats you like you are vip! I had the spicy tuna roll and loved it! Super good and fresh! I ordered the seafood tower which is a great portion for two ppl to share! It's two lobster tails , calamari , huge shrimp and scallops! The only thing I couldn't eat more than one bite was the lobster tails because they were soooooo salty and over seasoned it killed the rest of my palate for me... im glad I ate everything else first and saved lobster for last .. other than that it was great! I wish I mentioned my disappointment while there but we didn't wanna bother anyone because they were so sweet and catering

Aoki Teppanyaki in Deland Mall is one of the best hibachi Japanese steakhouses I've ever been to! The service is exceptional and amazing, with outgoing and helpful staff who provide great recommendations. The food is outstanding - I had a ribeye with shrimp that was 'off the chain'! The rice was perfect, and the Yum Yum sauce is a game-changer. The drinks were great, with a powerful sake bomb that hit the spot. The experience was fantastic, and the ambiance of this location is priceless. While the pricing may be a bit on the higher end, it's well worth it for the quality and experience. Plus, parking is free, which is a bonus! I highly recommend Aoki Teppanyaki to anyone who loves Japanese food, and I can't wait to come back.

Me and my friend went for happy hour and tried almost all their happy hour items. I would give it a 7/10 there was some hits and misses. The drinks were 9/10. For the most part for the price it was good. Wouldn't choose items like pork buns or the tuna. The rice was really good and so were the chicken skewers.

This habachi restaurant is amazing! We arrived on Saturday around 7 pm, and although it was busy, we were seated promptly. This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor in Dadeland Mall and has plenty of free parking available. The inside of the restaurant is broken up into several different rooms, allowing for a feeling of privacy if needed. They have a vast selection of food, from habachi to sushi and more. Also, the selection of sake and drinks doesn't disappoint. Once seated, we had the best server, Javi, who was super friendly and attentive. The cook was also super nice and put on a show for us. We started with sake bombs and cocktails, which were all amazing. Followed by the delicious food, which was perfectly cooked. The restaurant has lots of cool artifacts on display, available for taking pictures. The restaurant also has a bar area in the back if you want to hang out for drinks. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone coming on a date or with a group. Also, if you're into cigars, they also have a great selection by the bar area available for sale. This restaurant is a 10!

I realize now that I have a love/hate relationship with Aoki. Service has not been consistent enough for me to earnestly give them 4 stars anymore. I'd like to start with the pros. I always enjoy my food and drinks when I visit Aoki. I also always love the decor and availability of parking at Dadeland. Now onto the reason for my updated review.... Service was definitely not there. Our waitress was Aura and although she did come fairly quickly to our table to get drink orders that was about it. She wasn't rude, but she was definitely inattentive and the other members of our party felt there was some disparity with how she treated our table versus other ones. We had another (cute) waiter named Javier who did help in compensating for her inattentiveness. I will say he was super nice and accommodating, but the members of my party were already super upset because of the absence of our primary server. I kid you not there was a party that arrived after us and had left before we had even gotten our check. Our chef was also super courteous but wasn't very entertaining which is disheartening because when getting slapped with automatic gratuity if service is inept, you want to at least feel like you're being entertained. Team could definitely benefit from more training on entertainment while cooking, even/fair distribution of good services, and de-escalation/compensatory strategies. Manager was notified and did validate my parties grievances, but that was about it. Don't feel like much was done to really alleviate things. Would not likely return unless things are rectified.

I really enjoy this restaurant for the food and happy hour. Have been here for several different occasions. Birthdays, happy hours, family night. The hibachi dinner spectacle is great. The kids liked it, the food was delicious and the chef was exceptional. I've frequented the place often so I have gotten to know a few of the staff members. Big shout out to Fabian the bartender in the back bar. He always remembers us. He greets us with a warm smile and friendly hello. He always gives delicious food recommendations. He is a gem to this lovely establishment. Give this a place a try. It has amazing decor and presents a fabulous menu with flawless execution.

I had low expectations of this restaurant because I figured the portions would be tiny for the rather pricy menu options BUT I was pleasantly surprised when I "unwrapped" my delivery order from GrubHub. The salmon belly and hamachi kama looked PERFECT and the Geisha Roll and sashimi were top notch looking as well. How did everything taste? 10/10 no notes. I kid you not, this meal was utterly magical. Every bite transported me to MOUTHGASMIC NARNIA -- and I honestly am considering ordering this exact same meal tonight for my last dinner in Miami before I pack up and leave. So so so good. I didn't even miss SALMON SKIN (something I ALWAYS order from sushi restaurants but wasn't/isn't available from Aoki).

Worst experience!!!, sat down at table at 8:15 and nothing started happening till 9:20! The manager at 9:00 said would only take 5-10 more minutes and would bring edamame to hold us over....20mins... later ...no food and no edamame. I ended up getting an Uber and leaving, the rest of my family ended up staying and finishing dinner at 10:30.

Let's admit it that part of the draw is the Teppanyaki show in the grill! I went with a friend and we were given to option to sit "just" for dinner. Don't! I don't care if there's an up charge but our chef Robert and one at an adjacent table we overhead were amazing and hilarious. We first enjoyed the mixed green salad with a delicious ginger seasoning. The greens were fresh and the dressing a mild kick. Then the show started. The eggs, the rice the scallions. My rice bowl was perfectly sticky and generous enough I had takeout for lunch this morning. Then the fire-fire-fire..the volcano onions, the grilling of delicious wagyu, chicken and mushrooms. I wasn't feeling their "yum yum sauce" (garlic mayo) but loved the spicy ginger along with the sriracha ketchup we ordered. The beef was tasty by itself, but the spicier sauces gave it an extra oomph. We didn't try desserts, but would definitely check them out again next time I'm in the mall.

Amazing service, fresh seafood, vegetables not overcooked. Loved the experience, probably my favorite food choice at Dadeland by far.

Nothing special. My martini and sushi roll were pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. The server we had was great. Made good recommendations. The outside seating was so cute and definitely had a good ambience!

Late post-Was there on a Monday night for a group celebration. Group of girls-Aura, the waitress, took the order. Service was awful. She forgot to bring a smoothie for someone in our party until everyone was finished with their food after asking for the smoothie several times. The drink should have be served before the chef even arrived. Aura was only serving 4 tables in the dining area and never came by NOT ONCE to check on our table. One person in the party paid cash and she brought back the receipt for everyone else from the party, went to serve TWO other tables, and then came back with her change and she refused to bring a receipt after they asked for their change back. She said she had "too much to do." She also threw her hand up in a hostile and unprofessional manner when a person from the party asked for a container for shrimp sauce. She finally told all the members of the party that a minimum of an 18% tip WAS MANDATORY or else it wasn't fair to her...

Have been here on two separate occasions - once for lunch and once for dinner. Neither have disappointed. The salmon and ikura donburi is SO fresh and so was the sushi. Yummy drinks too, and the restaurant itself is honestly a work of art.

I was at dadeland mall for a day of shopping and decided to stop at Aoki for lunch! It did not disappoint! Quick service, good food at a great price! It is important to note that they have a separate menu for the Teppanyaki restaurant services and the sushi menu. I also loved the Japanese decor of the restaurant!

Food was delicious. Service wasn't the best . The Ambiance was outstanding. The restaurant does a great job at catching an Americanized East Asian feel.

If you're from Miami you definitely know about this hibachi spot in Dadeland! This restaurant is so fun for dinner but if you're looking for the best deal go during lunch time and order the lunch duo special. The food is so yummy, just make sure you ask for the ginger sauce to go with the yum yum one, trust me it's so delicious! Also, definitely try the lychee martini!!

Richard is an amazing server. He is wonderful at recommending and making us aware of awards program. Very attentive, a lost art with most servers these days. Made our dinning experience wonderful. Food is also excellent. Have been here two other times. Have had the bento box which is a wonderful sampling. In addition came for my husbands office luncheon when we had the hiabachi which was every bit as good as Samari with out the WAIT. Great dining experience.

First time in this place with the family. I loved the place, clean, cozy and family oriented. The chef gave us a good presentation, the food was delicious and tasty. The server was outstanding with a lot of knowledge and attention to our family. I definitely recommend this place, and I will definitely be coming back for more.

I had so much fun in this restaurant! I came here with the family to celebrate my wife's brother's birthday. The restaurant is decorated so creative and beautifully. The food is also great quality and well priced. We ordered a couple of sakes, one virgin Pina colada, a sushi roll and the wagyu steak. It was all amazing and we left so stuffed. The show was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection. And the tricks in the show were so unique. Usually it's the same tricks but not here. The guy was very very entertaining and the fire show was amazing. We had an amazing time and we are definitely coming back.

Great food. The chef sampler is definitely a must-order. The fish is very fresh and the rolls have nice portions where you aren't overwhelmed by the rice. Rice is important for sushi, and this place makes the cut. The only thing I didn't care for was the ambience, as we were told we couldn't sit in the restaurant and were placed at a table inside the mall. I felt like I wasn't even apart of the restaurant. The service was also fairly slow, but the food made up for it.

Visited here on a Saturday night around 7pm. Surprisingly there was no wait to be seated; however there was quite a wait for a chef, at least 40 mins. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the tempura shrimp for starters. Full of flavor but they were super tiny (reminded me of bagged shrimp). The quantity they provided was sufficient for an app. For main course I got the shrimp and NY strip steak combo and a free Lychee martini once you sign up for the app. The martini was pretty strong. Robert was our chef. He was very interactive and funny.

Your average hibachi with a Hawaiian twist! With most hibachis your getting a decent portion but they are not shy with the meat! Our party loved the sweet potato and sprouts addition to the veggies! Not sure why but their dumplings are not part of the menu so IF YOU SEE THIS MAKE SURE TO ORDER! Overall nice experience but do expect to wait some time from seating! Also would of loved a dessert menu that didn't consist of so much fried options!

Wonderful dining experience. Once you are seated it's a sublime experience. The only complain we had was the hostess not being attentive. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait and gave our number. The restaurant got emptier and emptier and she wouldn't sit us. We waited for over an hour for a table

This place is definitely a great spot for dinner. I've been here plenty of times and usually order the fried rice which tasted phenomenal! The drinks are really good too. I passed by here yesterday and ordered the yakiniku sushi which also tasted great. Will definitely recommend eating here for a fancy dinner night. Also if you don't have a reservation there is self seating however only 1 waiter so patience is necessary.

Terrible, terrible service. The restaurant wasn't busy and we waited over 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order for the second time. After waiting another 15 minutes with no food or service, we decided to walk out.

Me and my family come to this restaurant at least once and twice a month. At this time we came a service was very polite I've got his name literally we sit waiting for a for almost a hour even when we got our food, our cook got awful wrong. We told the manager, and she offered us dessert for free like who the hell want to sit and wait for dessert at the one we waited almost a hour and a half take it off what's up with that she only gave us 5 % off of our tab we come in their hands down we spend money, literally sit there for almost 2 hours i'm straight I will never come here again give me some SUV in the sea shrew hello

Food; decent, I will return Service; very good Ambiance; interesting and unique I sat at the sushi bar for lunch with my granddaughter. We enjoyed our time. We complimented the food as it came out. The presentation is very nice. The Chris's behind preparing the meals were upbeat and funny! We were labeled the "Salmon Queens" lol. We both had a nice lunch and we will return..

Aoki! 3.5 average review at the time of this post: really? CHALLENGE. Aoki brings it every time you go for dinner. Yes, it's evolved from the typical Benihana experience but that is the idea. It's sophisticated enough to deliver excellent food but down to earth enough to remain dynamic and fun, with a sense of humor. Tune out all the haters and check out AOKI!!!!!!!

We went to celebrate a birthday. Our server sat us as soon as the whole party was there. Once we sat down, our server offered water and took our drink order. I had the lychee martini and it was delicious. We did not order any appetizers because we knew that the entrees would be big. Then, our cook came and double checked our orders. He was funny, attentive and very courteous. The ambiance was very energetic and fun. Our cook was great! He cooked everything to perfection. The rice, vegetables, meat and shrimp were cooked perfectly! We did not order dessert, but they brought a dessert with a sparkler to celebrate our friend's birthday! They also sang happy birthday with drums! It was amazing and fun! I'd definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

Fresh sushi, authentic ambience, and exquisite service - this was all at Aoki. Patrick and Chris were so phenomenal creating unique sushi for us and having conversations about the history of Aoki. We enjoyed the lunch specialty items including the Coconut Shrimp, Aoki Trio Roll, and the Bento Box with salmon. Excellent quality, well-priced, and great atmosphere from Chris especially. Definitely coming again in the future and will try their endless Japanese options.

How underwhelming. But service was fast so there's the two stars. The miso soup was salty. The salad didn't have enough dressing and the roll I ordered had more rice than anything else. Tasted like pure rice and burned meat. Didn't have two of the desserts I wanted to ordered so I settled for tempura ice cream, joy. Good luck having a delicious meal. Oh and they include 18% tip. Mine was $6.66 :S

Love this place! Went with a group of 7 for my sister's birthday and it was great! The server which I do not remember the name, i believe it was "Nic", was super nice, and he even celebrated my sister birthday singing with the rest of the crew. Food was fresh incredibly! We got "Hearty worrier " and " coconut shrimp" sushis and they were delicious; Edamame and eggplant chips that are so crunchy and tasty. The dessert was awesome " Tempura Cheesecake " a must to try!

It amazes me on how the service here just gets worse! . I wish I could give them 0 stars. The servers never check in on you, don't refill your glasses of water. If you ask for something, like a fork - if you do get it, it will be at the end of your meal. Eat anywhere else besides here

Cockroach came crawling out of the section of the grill that, you can see in the photos, has never been cleaned since this placed opened. Our server and chef, Luis, were both great and very nice, however, we were told that the manager said that nothing could be done about the roach or the grill. No complaints about the food, though- very tasty. But hard to give anything but the lowest stars when a roach comes out of where your food is coming from and management does nothing to apologize or fix the situation. Always used to recommend this place to friends but never again.

Had a great experience with the family. We had the Hibachi and Robert was a wonderful chef he made us laugh and so nice he made the whole experience for my family and I. Will be coming back and requesting Robert. The food was delicious lobster and steak perfectly seasoned and seafood very fresh and cooked just right.

I've been here twice, several years apart. Both times were very disappointing. I don't recall the first time too much but remembered not wanting to go back. Eventually I decided to give it another chance and I ordered an avocado salad for lunch. I was with a group of 4 others and they all got their food before mine. My salad came about 5 minutes after everyone else got their food. Mind you, I ordered a salad. The salad ended up being terrible. The only positive was the waiter. So nice and friendly!

My oh my! How have I not had this as take out before !! Honestly so stinking good for take out!! The sushi was beyond delicious, and their containers were beyond sturdy. In addition the chicken katsu has to be one of the best ones I've ever had. Overall, 5/5 quickeness, food, display, service, & so much more :)

food is good...Since the tip is included in the final bill, customers service was poor waiting for the food, waiting for napkins waiting for the drink, pretty much waiting for everythin..Next time Aoaki will not be on my list

I took my 9 month old with me to dinner at Aoki and was pleased with how welcoming the staff was with her. Our server Gus was amazing. He made sure it was a easy night with my little girl. Very funny guy! I recommend him if you want to enjoy dinner and have a nice laugh. Thank you Gus!

Decided to get a late dinner while in the mall and we were pleased with the entire staff. Kristina was so welcoming and Chef Javive made sure my son had an amazing time. Kristina was very attentive to him and suggested child friendly dishes, which he enjoyed very much. Food was great. Drinks were great and overall we enjoyed our dinner. We will be back!

I always love this place. The sushi is my favorite, there's such a variety of unique and specialty rolls that I want to try every time. I love the hibachi as well. Desserts are fire too. Definitely a nice date night spot or nice family dinner.

Aoki is excellent. Food is good and the service is excellent. Good fun location with not a long wait. Definite a good spot to celebrate a special occasion.
