"Tucked away on the back side of St. Helena near Lake Hennessey, Aonair boasts incredible views and bold reds. They make just four barrels of their sparkling wine that features red grapes only. Most blanc de noirs wines have just a hint of color, but Aonair’s green bottle hides a gorgeously pink wine (they call it rose gold) brimming with golden apple, plum, and berry aromas plus persistent bubbles. The gold wax drizzled over the cork makes it even more memorable. About $60." - Maria C. Hunt

Amazing experience at Aonair winery. Our host was Christopher and was great! He was knowledgeable and easy going and conversational. The wine was very good and we signed up to join the Aonair wine club. We started the tasting by sitting at the fire pit and then continued the the tastings in the vineyard with an awesome view of Lake Hennessy. Highly recommend this vineyard for your Napa experience

Great winery on top of the hill next to Lake Hennessey. They have very distinctive and unique wines. The winery is also very dog friendly.

A Hillside Haven with Exceptional Hospitality Aonair Winery isn't just about incredible wines; it's a complete sensory experience elevated by top-notch hospitality. Our recent visit, guided by Austin, transformed a simple tasting into an unforgettable memory. From the moment we arrived, Austin's warm welcome made us feel like cherished guests. His knowledge about the wines was impressive, and he guided us through a delightful tasting journey. The Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing, the Cabernet Sauvignon rich and complex, the Pinot Noir elegant and smooth, and the Grenache bold and fruit-forward. Each sip was paired with captivating stories about the vineyard and the winemaking process. But the true highlight was the stunning hillside location. The panoramic views of the valley below were simply breathtaking, providing a picturesque backdrop to our tasting experience. Austin made sure we had ample time to soak in the scenery and capture those perfect photos. By the end of our visit, we were so impressed with the wines and Austin's exceptional hospitality that we couldn't resist taking home a case. Cheers to Aonair and their incredible team! We're already looking forward to experiencing their sister winery, Reverie, soon.

What an experience here at Aonair Wine!! We are so glad that we made the decision to visit here during our Napa trip. Matt is super friendly, passionate and professional. The view is magnificent and wine is great. And there are also two adorable dogs for dog-lovers 😉 Hopefully my pictures revealed and shared some of the fun we experienced, but I’m sure the fun will triple when people visit themselves!! 😎

When visiting Napa Valley and Sonoma, a stop at Aonair Family Wines is an absolute must. This charming family-run winery boasts a team that exudes warmth and hospitality, ensuring every visitor feels like part of the family. During my recent visit with my friend Claudia, we opted for a delightful tasting experience, though I'm eager to return for their enticing Polaris Vineyard tour. The wines, ranging from Bubbles to Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and their impressive Big Reds, are nothing short of superb. I couldn't resist bringing home their exquisite mountain Cabernet Sauvignon selections from Spring, Diamond, and Howell Mountains, a testament to their exceptional quality and craftsmanship. What sets Aonair apart is their unique offering to purchase barrels and futures, making it not only a wise investment but also a memorable way to enjoy exceptional wines with loved ones. As they've grown in popularity, reservations are recommended; sometimes the best dates are booked several months in advance; having a spot reserved with one of their hosts will afford you ample time to savor their consistently outstanding wines amidst their charming decor and impeccable hospitality. Located in Saint Helena Mountain, the scenic 20-minute drive from town or the 45-minute journey from Napa is well worth it for the unforgettable experience that awaits. Prepare for a journey of indulgence and delight at Aonair Family Wines. As a wine industry professional I am in a position to discern and identify the best spots in Napa and I can say with certainty and confidence that Aonair is among the very best. Make it a point to include them the next time you come to Napa Valley

Really unique and they spoke English and Spanish. Thank you guys for this superb experience!!!

Dan was absolutely incredible! We love the wine, the view and any time we get to visit! In our opinion, the best wine from the best winery!

Katie R.

Yelp
This winery is nothing shy of wonderful!! I came here for a bachelorette trip with my best friends in September and loved every second of it. They had the fire going on the back porch and plenty of seating for the group. Dan gave us a tasting of the various Aonair wines and took us around the facility. We got to see some of the wine process, try the grape juice that will eventually ferment into wine, and walk through the wine cellar where the barrels are stored. Dan told us the history of the winery and Grant, the owner, came and introduced himself. This small, family-owned winery is a must-see if you plan to visit the valley! There is something special about the experience and service offered at boutique wineries that you don't get at the larger ones.

Totyana H.

Yelp
AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE at Aonair Winery. I highly recommend this unique winery tour. The property, which you get to see, is beautiful! The wine was delectable. I enjoyed the Grenache blend the most!

Tansy W.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we were not in love with this stop of the trip. Our host was way too talkative for our taste (and not even about the wine a lot of the time), we didn't enjoy any of the wines, and the tasting was outdoors without heated lamps so we were quite cold (we were given blankets but it was still too cold for us). We mentioned wanting to go to the bourbon room when we made the reservation but they didn't take us until at the very end I had to specifically ask, and even then he seemed reluctant. Sadly, don't think we will be returning.

Sammi S.

Yelp
This was hands down my favorite winery in Napa!!! The wines are great but the service was incredible! Matt is one of my favorite hosts ever!! They are so welcoming, yet knowledgeable, yet fun, and the time flew by while we were there! Oh and not to mention the views are STELLAR!! We were able to see their cellar and caught a glimpse of their wine making process. It was incredible! Lastly, for the whiskey and scotch nerds - they have an awesome man cave / whiskey room in a hidden spot you have to see! You need to stop by and check this place out!

Becky T.

Yelp
We were recommended Aonair buy my boyfriends boss and I am SO thankful we were. This was such a unique experience compared to the other 4 vineyards we visited on our trip. It is so low key, tucked away in a converted home, and you really get an in depth look at the vineyards and get to tour around the property. Matt was a great time and kept us laughing throughout our visit. The tasting is at no cost, and as they are a smaller operation you need to reach out directly via phone or email to book. The three bottles we ordered just arrived and I cant wait to open them! The bottles are beautiful with the dipped cork and will make a great keepsake.

Rob T.

Yelp
Aonair was amazing. Wine, winery, views, host (Matt), made our stop special. I know the valley well, but never been to Aonair. Definitely worth setting up a tasting. I will visit again.

Mike M.

Yelp
Dan was outstanding. First trip to Napa , out of 8 wineries this was our biggest highlight Why it's the best? The road trip up the mountain is an adventure itself. Sure we passed it going up but then checked the address and was able to turn around and not be more than 6 minutes late. The grounds are spectacular. The house breathtaking along with this view you will never forget. Dan had great stories and history lessons about the region. Offered us many options as to how our tour could go. We could just chill on the upstairs patio overlooking the valley below or he could take us on a quad tour though the vineyards or a wine cave tour. We opted for all of the above DAN DELIVERED ON ALL OF TIE ABOVE. We squeezed it all in in 90 minutes. Out of all the wineries we went to this was the only free tasting. Also the only one where three of the four of us bought wines. This place should be at the top of the list for anyone going near Napa. Don't just settle for popular ones along the Silverado trail. Doug deep for the Glen Gary Glenn Ross leads. The leads are weak ? You're weak if you skip this out on making an appointment for this hidden gem. The best part was at the top of the vineyard we hung out for a bit and took in a view of the vineyards and of a lake while sipping on a great Grenache blend.

Michael L.

Yelp
One of our favorite wineries on our visit to Napa. The grounds are absolutely stunning. We got a warm welcome and a personalized tour. We sat out on the balcony for our first 2 wines. They he took us in his four wheeler through the vineyards and stopped at a lovely spot overlooking the lake. When we got back we were given a quick tour of the cellars. Highly recommend giving this place a visit.

Donald R.

Yelp
Aonair Winery is not one of the big-name Napa wineries but it clearly is one of the most enjoyable to visit. It is located quite far above the valley above the Silverado Trail. It was the most relaxed wine tastings I have had in a long time. Sitting in lounge chairs overlooking the Napa hillside is not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon. The staff is very knowledgeable and the passionate about their wines. The prices are reasonable for the high quality of the product. I also appreciated that the winery is very supportive of our military service members with sizable discounts. Overall, Aonair was a wonderful surprise. Reservations are required.

Ralph E.

Yelp
Amazing place, great wines, wonderful staff. I could live in the tasting room. Can't wait to return!

Valerie A.

Yelp
Incredible just doesn't quite describe it.... the wine and scenery are second to none. It's. A bit of a beautiful drive up the mountain but with the beautiful day and the weather being perfect... we loved the time together. Small intimate winery where you feel Like family

Monica B.

Yelp
Sunday was my family's first time visiting Aonair. Jose was our host and we got incredibly lucky with this one. Jose walked us into the building and greeted us with bubbles. We sat around the fire like a family enjoying the bubbles and talking about the wine. Then he took us in an ATV through the vineyards, which was the coolest thing I have ever done. He brought us out to "Dad's Block" which is one of the most majestic views of the valley. We enjoyed more wine among with the vines, which just feels right. Jose ended the tour by taking us through the caves, which circle beneath the property and showed us where the wine is produced. Aonair is lucky to have Jose and we can't wait to plan our next trip back to see him. Aonair is a must-see vineyard if you want the full experience! Thank you!

Yelp
We visited 16 wineries on this, our first trip to Napa with the total experience at this winery being by far the BEST experience we had! Our hotel concierge set up this reservation for us and when we arrived, we found that this experience was very exclusive, with only one other couple being there at that time. Dan spent a lot of time explaining the winery and owners, as well as the owner's history to us. He was very relaxed and allowed us to sit, and sip one wine at a time, while taking in the incredible views from their deck without being pressed for time. He took us on an ATV ride through the vineyard, over one mountain to see Lake Hennessey on the other side, from a beautiful gazebo they built on the hillside, in Dad's Block. We were able to taste wines while out there as well and then we came back and were fortunate to get a tour of their wine caves and barrel room and vat area. Their wines tasted AMAZING! They are definitely of a higher quality and worth a try! This is a very small batch winery, only offering wines to those who have visited and members. The prices of their wines are very fair, considering how exclusive they are and have amazing this property and this experience was! We can't wait to return and do this one all over again!

Wonji C.

Yelp
Boutique winery up on the mountains with the best vibe. Multiple people in the Napa wine industry recommended this place and I couldn't agree more! One of the best stops in all of Napa. You definitely won't be leaving without purchasing a few bottles because all of their wines area AMAZING. Tasting room has an outdoor fireplace. They also take you on an ATV that leads to a patio with wine barrel chairs and amazing view of the lake Hennessey. More wineries based on views, price, varietals at finevining.com IG @fine.vining Main varietals: Bordeux varietal red blend, Cab Franc, Can Sauv, Grenache blend Tasting fee: No fee to taste Average wine rating on Vivino: 4.5 Cute for pictures: 4/5 QPR: 4.5/5, average price $40-100

Yelp
GO HERE!!! Book a tasting with this place! You're gonna have an incredible time! Dan was so nice, funny, just so down to earth. He's cute too but married so we can stop there lol. We arrived and was greeted with some sparkling wine and the place was so beautiful. You'll get to ride ATV Mule up that oversees the grapes and Lake Hennessy. It's simply breath taking and so tranquil. Just the quietness was something to take in. Could prolly sit there all day and be so happy. They have a patio too outside the main tasting house. It's harvest season so we got to see the grapes being separated in their machine. Iuno the name of the process lol. I bought all the red wines that we got to taste cause I finally found a place I was willing to support. The prices of their wines are reasonable too compared to other wineries near them. Oh yeah the tasting is free here and they don't pressure you in buying their wines. Dan literally gave us the forms to fill out if we wanted to buy and walked away. Just book a tasting here and it will be the greatest winery experience you'll ever have!

Aviv G.

Yelp
Very laid back tour and tasting off the beaten path. Nice Grenache blend was a pleasant surprise. Worth the drive.

Tracy T.

Yelp
We had a wine dinner here and the view and wine were awesome!!!! Thank you Grant for making the night so much fun. We can't wait to go back.

Cathy D.

Yelp
OK I've never been to the this winery but the get 5 STARS and deserve more. Here's my story. My son got engaged at this winery so I ordered some (4) wine glass to have them engraved for a Christmas gift. My son raved about the place by the way! First of all they arrived at my door the day after I ordered them (super fast service). Unfortunately the engraver messed up one of the glasses so I emailed Aonair to explain and ask to order 1 more glass so I'd have a matching set. Clara at Aonair not only shipped out another glass immediately but she didn't charge me for the glass. I was so surprised. In her words "turn lemon into lemonade"! I can't wait to visit. Such awesome customer service! Happy corking!

Yvonne M.

Yelp
We enjoyed a lovely and lazy Sunday afternoon here at Aonair. Our guide, Dan was very accommodating with our photo op requests. The wines were delightful. It was a treat to be able to enjoy part of our tasting in the vineyards after a short and totally awesome "off road" trip! The comfy Adirondack chairs made from old wine barrels were a novelty. They even boasted wine glass holders! Very cool. Barrel tasting in the caves was quite an experience!

miss k.

Yelp
Absolutely surpassed my expectations. Our wine guide was hilarious, warm, and welcoming, and super educated about the winery, its owners, and their products. I'm so excited to be a member of this wine club and can't wait to go back on my next trip.

Gianna D.

Yelp
The drive to Aonair is gorgeous. Lucky for you, when tasting at Aonair, you get to enjoy the view from their huge deck. Wines were great too!

Ashley H.

Yelp
This place is truly something special. It was our first stop of the day and made our entire trip! Travis was an incredible host and made this an unforgettable experience. We started out on the deck with the fire and incredible views of the property, then we headed down to the vineyard and enjoyed our tasting overlooking Lake Hennessy. Where else do you get an experience like this?? This place set the bar for our trip and was our favorite spot by far. Wines are awesome and the people are great. Definitely worth the trip up there. You will not be disappointed!

John B.

Yelp
All of the Yelpers praising this Winery are spot on. If you are willing to drive off the "beaten path", Aonair is certainly worth it. We arrived as a group of 7 and Dan was expecting as. They do private tastings by appointment and there is no charge. Dan was quite hospitable, knowledgeable, and open to you revisiting the wines, as many of us did. The cabin makes you feel at home; not like some of the "corporate" wineries and tasting rooms. We spent over 90 minutes there, sitting around the fire pit, in the most comfortable chairs created. We visited the cave, and saw the whiskey and bourbon room. Yes, there is a room where the owner Grant holds expensive and rare whiskeys and bourbons and you can try select ones. This was by far, the best winery of the five we visited this day. If you make the effort, it will be so worth it.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Wonderful hospitality. Beautiful views! Definitely recommend the ATV trip to the group patio overlooking the water and winery!

Ryan R.

Yelp
The best winery experience we have ever had!... (and we are kinda seasoned winos) Matt is such a good time, super knowledgable and just an all around good, genuine dude. We didn't know what to expect with this winery but all expectations were surpassed and then some. The property was absolutely beautiful, by far the best view I have ever experienced at a Napa winery. The "house" - tasting area was so unique, rustic masculine energy but totally inviting. The wine was incredible to say the least! Great Cabernet I can't say enough positive things. We learned Small wineries are the way to go from now on. Personal experience with great attention, great way to learn more about wine. The tour was super fun. We went on a ride around the property on a 4 wheeler with Matt, totally different then the usual tour. Such a fun day. Thanks for taking such great care of us. Can't wait to get back there. You guys are killin it.

Morgan M.

Yelp
We spent the weekend in Napa, this was the best winery by far! The wines were amazing and the beautiful views of lake Hennessy were one of a kind. Travis was great, very personable and showed us around the property on a 4x4 ride. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a more private wine tasting experience.

Lance K.

Yelp
Met some friends from back east whose son had raved about this place, and I joined them last minute. I had no expectations as I knew nothing about the place. What a great experience. They greeted us like old friends, shared some fantastic wines, great views, and a really intimate experience that is so different from most other places in the area.

Paula O.

Yelp
WORTH THE DRIVE!! We visited Aonair during our Honeymoon and needless to say, We fell in love!! Not only with the wine, but with the staff! Chad was an awesome host. Although he explained the wine perfectly, he didn't need to, cause the Wine spoke for itself. We had 7 people in our group and We ALL joined the wine club! I also took 10 extra bottles home. My husband and I went BACK to Napa 6 months later and Aonair was top on my list to re-visit! We even brought a bottle of Texas whiskey to add to the Bourbon/Whiskey room! It was so good to see the staff again and this time got to meet Grant!! What a guy! Very Nice, Very personable! We have already planned our NEXT trip in a few months and plan to take my brother there!

Reed P.

Yelp
What an amazing experience. We had come from a large "corporate" vineyard for our first tour - and we were way disappointed. Matt was our tour @ Aonair, and he was the complete opposite. Absolutely incredible,

Kelly L.

Yelp
THE BEST!!!! HANDS DOWN OUR FAVORITE WINERY!!!! We met Grant Sr. In 2014 & enjoyed our visit but more importantly fell in love with the wine. Fast forward to 2016 & we visited their brand new winery up off Com Creek near Hennessy & it was SPECTACULAR!!!!! We had an awesome visit with Patrick for 2.5 plus hours just laughing, tasting & enjoying the great company!!!! These guys make amazing wine (The Red Wine 2013) have a charming & beautiful new winery & you can see that the passion for great wine making is beaming through each of them! We would visit every day if we could!!!!! In the mean time we will be avid club members!! :) Thank you so much Patrick for an awesome visit!!! We truly felt like we were visiting an old friend!! Kent & Kelly Smith

Wendy C.

Yelp
Pretty spectacular location and views. Dan took very good care of us. The Cabernet blend is amazing mountain top fruit without the tannins. They have a whiskey room with cigars which is pretty fun to peruse the labels oh and don't forget the beer on tap. But this place is all about the wine and it is worth the trek up the hill to see it.

Freddie M.

Yelp
Aonair was recommended by our driver. Dan showed us around. His stories and interaction was amazing. It didn't feel scripted like other wineries. The samples were delicious. I couldn't even tell you which one was my favorite. Most importantly the views here are amazing. The drive to aonair was breathtaking. The sights on their deck were beautiful. Everything looks so good that you think it had to be photoshopped. Definitely a must for someone not wanting to go to the usual tours and samples.

Meagan B.

Yelp
We loved the wine here as well as the staff and atmosphere. After all the vineyards we visited while in Napa, everyone in our group agreed that we enjoyed our time spent here the most! We did not meet Grant, but Patrick was very knowledgeable and incredibly hospitable. We will certainly be return customers. We brought home the 2013 Grenache blend and truly enjoyed it, great wine!

Samantha K.

Yelp
This was an absolutely AWESOME experience. The wine was fantastic and the hosts are so kind, they treated us like good friends. We were immediately greeted with sparkling wine, and then taken on an ATV tour of the property. We then came back to the lodge to taste some other wine and show a super cool secret whiskey room. Would recommend this winery to anyone!

Hannah B.

Yelp
We were celebrating at 40th birthday and we had our concierge book us a private estate tour and tasting from 4-6pm. Our tasting was interrupted, and cut short when another private dinner party showed early and we were asked to leave at 5:15. They gave us a bottle of wine for our troubles. Beautiful property, alright wine, and shit experience.

Wendie M.

Yelp
Absolutely one of my favorite wineries! Great experience, Dan is an awesome host! The view is unbelievable and the wines are perfect! Grant (owner) has created an environment that welcomes you in and makes you never want to leave. This was the highlight of the day for our group.

Heidi M.

Yelp
We love this wine and we enjoyed visiting the converted barn tasting room. We came here last year and spent about an hour and a half with the wine maker Grant Long learning about his label, wine making and of course tasting wine. We brought a picnic lunch - lot's of fun!! Very pretty grounds. Everything was perfect. We joined the wine club and we continue to look forward to receiving our shipments of "BIG" and "BOLD" California Reds. No complaints at all - I just wished we lived closer. A must do experience while in the Napa Vally.

Raj R.

Yelp
Heaven on earth. The wine is no doubt grand, just as grand as the bottle and the family crest! Terrific host bought some bottles from here for the bosses and they loved it

Daniel B.

Yelp
Without any hesitation do I give this winery 5 stars. Absolutely everything about it is absolutely stunning. Travis did my tasting and he is a blast!!! The views are spectacular, the wines are phenomenal and are Approachable considering their quality. I could stay there all day!!!

Maia B.

Yelp
Amazing wine, friendly people, comfy seating, top-notch views, a cool cave, unusual library of whiskeys... can't beat!

Matthew C.

Yelp
My overall rating is based on our experience more than the actual wines. I was super excited to visit this winery as it is owned by Grant Long and his wife. My wife Amy and I met Grant almost 20 years ago when he ran a business that toured visitors through the valley. Grant introduced us to some great wineries over the years. We were super excited to visit his winery. Our group was running about 20 minutes late and the guy that was doing our tasting basically told our tour guide not to show up if we were late. This was a real bummer since we were so excited to try Grant's wines. We did stop and had our tasting. The wines were very good. It is a beautiful spot, but it was hard to enjoy since we were really rushed. They were not busy and no group showed up while we were there. Out of a group of 7 we bought a case just because we love Grant and want to try his wines. Our host (Matt) lost out on 3-4 cases of wine sales that day for rushing us for no reason. It was a big turnoff. Not sure what the deal was.

Boomer P.

Yelp
I took my daughter to Napa for her 25th birthday. Aonair was our favorite spot we visited the week of March 2nd. Dan Gavor, Director of Sales was our tour guide on 3/4 and was most excellent. Great sense of humor, informative on the property history and wines Aonair makes. We took a property tour on a larger ATV with a stop above Lake Hennessey for a tasting. Dan gave us a tour of their facility and their cave. The tasting room has an excellent view from the outdoor deck (with a firepit) and they also have a spirits/cigar room. Great wine and a must see for anyone nearby. Tastings are by appointment only. You will love the people and the wine. Thanks Dan!

Zach T.

Yelp
What a beautiful vineyard tucked away in the beautiful Napa hillside! Our host, Dan, shared the intimate history of Aonair and took us to see their incredible view of Lake Hennessy. The small circle of folks that run this winery are truly what make it special. I felt the experience was friendly and unique, especially with lil Braunie (their cute little pug) coming for the ride along! We will make this a staple in our future trips to Napa for sure!

Nikki K.

Yelp
My family and I visited Aonair on Friday 12/7/18 and it was the best wine tasting experience all of us ever had. Matt was very personable and knowledgeable about the wine. His enthusiasm had all of us on a wine adventure when he took us for a tour of the vineyard while driving the Mule side by side. We tasted the wine, drove around the vineyard and then sat inside by the cozy fire. The wine is fantastic, Matt was great and the views are spectacular. Aonair is now on our must go to list when we visit Napa. Just make sure you follow the driving directions, the winery is a little difficult to find.

Catherine P.

Yelp
This was a fantastic winery. The views were great, the chairs around the pit were beautiful, and the tour of the property was outstanding. We loved the place and wouldn't change a thing. The wines were great and we became members of their wines so we can keep enjoying them!

Paula D.

Yelp
Stunning views and exceptional wines ready for consumption. One of my favorite wineries!

Lauren S.

Yelp
Visited Napa with my husband for the first time and Aonair was by FAR our favorite experience. It was small and intimate, the views were GOREGOUS! Matt was beyond personable and knowledge and took his time to get to know us and take us around the property in a side by side, which was awesome. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could! Also, the wine was delicious!

Patty S.

Yelp
Aonair is probably our favorite winery to visit. There is not one iota of pretention, which I appreciate. When I was setting up the visit, it was the owner himself (Grant) who emailed me. We drove up and were welcomed by Patrick, dressed in shorts and flip flops. I love that. We sat down and tried their white, which was delicious. He then gave us the option of driving through the winery. He drove us through the vineyards to a beautiful spot overlooking a lake. They had built a spot to sit and enjoy wine. And the wine...... All were spot on and we enjoyed them in different ways. Needless to say, we became members and raved about it to anyone who would listen. If you like small, noncommercial and unique, this winery is it. You gotta love that there are only about 8 or so of them doing all the work. Quality over quantity. Cheers to our new friends!

Mike B.

Yelp
These wines are amazing. They do an excellent job on the quality of how the wine is made. I have been a member for three years now and I can't wait for my next allocation. The customer service is great as well. Clara is awesome. Both cabs are great the mountain reserve and cab reserve are the best wine I ever tasted. I'm trying the Cab/Franc this month.
