APAIT is not a very good organization when it comes to taking care of the residents safety at Casa de Zuma, a housing facility for transgender MTF individuals who are experiencing homelessness. When I was a resident there, there a was a woman by the name Lakanda Horn, who was the director of the facility from HOPICS, who was very rude, hateful, and hostile towards myself and many of the residence. I complained to APAIT seeing how they jointly run the facility alongside HOPICS and SSG, but I was laughed at and ignored. APAIT seems to care more about the 1% instead of those who they care for.

Google
false form of resource. Depicted itself as an organized form of housing stability and support then ultimately disturbed my peace and left me abandoned. Kicked a houseless artist out on the street in the middle of a storm for no reason. Threatened me with police and lied in my face causing me unecessary confusion, depression, anxiety, overall manipulation, and power abuse.

This organization is DISCRIMINATING AGAINST African American clients that fit the criteria for services...I can't get past the male receptionist Jose... every time I call or go down there he either says there's no appointment available...or schedule me an appointment then when I call to confirm that appointment he Jose has given me...he charges it.. I WONDER HOW MANY AFRICAN AMERICANS HAS THIS ORGANIZATION HELPED THEY ARE FUNDED BY GOVERNMENT FUNDS THATZZA MEANT FOR A SPECIAL CLASS OF PEOPLE THAT QUALIFY..YET THEY'VE SERVED ON HISPANICS... THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED...I AM FINDING OUT HOW THAT CAN BE DONE... And NOW I'M BEING STAWED BY THESE PEOPLE AND VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA...

Yelp
Made an appointment online and the counselor helped ease my anxiety in getting a free HIV test. Super friendly and knowledgeable! They were able to answer all my questions. I was in an out within 20 minutes which is shorter than the wait at Howling Rays. I'm usually working out of Ktown so this was super convenient. FREE PARKING was a nice bonus.

Yelp
As a housing navigator for another organization I just want to shout out to Joy for doing an amazing job with the intake process! You can tell she truly cares about clients and wants the best for them while being to the point. Thanks Joy!

Yelp
Great staff and services. People are very friendly and professional. Many groups and individual services to take advantage of here and they seem to accept lots of insurance and free servicesz

Yelp
APAIT is a non-profit agency that provides services for Asian and Pacific Islanders living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS. They offer a wide variety of services-- prevention services for individuals at-risk (support groups, educational workshops and resources, FREE HIV TESTING), treatment and case management for individuals living with HIV/AIDS (case management, resources for housing, food, and transportation, mental health services), substance abuse services, and research and policy advocacy. (Whew!) Hand in hand with all of these services, the staff is what makes this agency shine. They are compassionate. They are caring, They respect confidentiality, They are culturally competent. They are dedicated. These individuals work day in and day out to help individuals who may be afraid of getting tested, getting services, or getting information about HIV/AIDS. In a nutshell: Services: awesome! Staff: spectacular! Parking: free parking (with validation) at Joe's Parking when you get tested!

Yelp
This is by far the most impressive concept to feed our homeless and take care of our own first. Not only with a meal, but with loving care and great staffing. This organization will be around for years to come.

Yelp
They provide great services to the community helping those who have HIV/AIDS or those at-risk for HIV/AIDS. I can't speak too much about their treatment services other than having met much of their staff and know they provide good services, but the prevention team is pretty good. They are culturally competent and do well with Asian and Pacific Islanders, though their services are open to all. I've been involved in plenty of their support groups, particularly a group called VIBE. I met some people like me and eventually made some friends and built my social network in Los Angeles when I had very few friends when I first moved here. I participated in other programs like their HIV prevention training, such as PEP and LA LIST, and they provide good information and follow a popular opinion leader model that basically means you provide some HIV prevention training to some people and they would share that information among their friends and among their friends since people tend to listen to their peers more than their doctors or teachers and what not. Anyhow, most of their groups have good incentives to be involved with, but over time, you just make good connections and you're there for those connections and not just the gift cards or free food. They're located by Burlington and Olympic and they have their own parking. People there are great and friendly and they do have quality services. They provide free HIV testing. They just launched their Mobile HIV testing unit, so it's pretty cool.

Yelp
This foundation is one of the most caring and loving places for anyone seeking counseling resources. They are warm and genuine. They specialize in aiding those who have histories of PTSD/trauma, drug use, they give HIV Prevention Services, FREE HIV TESTING TO ANYONE, referrals for housing, mental health, legal support, domestic violence, substance abuse, and they have a food bank. I wish I could work there! Out of many ways they help, the one that really moved me was the program to help prostitutes off the street. As someone who was homeless and drug-addicted at one time (over two decades ago), I really wish a place like this had been available. For those who stumble their way in, they have landed in amazing arms. They came across my radar when I was searching for for resources concerning a sexual assault situation for a friend. I went in today and got an HIV test myself because negative status is sexy!

Yelp
I'm so thrilled that I stumbled across this place. I have been here twice within the period of three months to get tested. Aside from free rapid results HIV testing, they offer a plethora of service, such as counseling for at risk youth. Although the office is in the middle of downtown, the parking situation is not too much of a hassle given that the building has their own lot and you can request validation on your way out. My review is based on my recent visit as well as my prior visit in which I came in to get tested. Let me just say that the entire office staff here are incredibly nice, everyone from the front office clerk to the counselors that administer the test. I had the pleasure of meeting Jasmine my first time and she had the most comforting and warm demeanor, she was just the best. The second and most recent visit had me test with Jason, who was equally comforting and amiable. Overall both visits were superb; you literally walk in and get tested within 15 minutes and then you're out with your results! I will definitely keep coming back every three months!

Yelp
This is one of the best organizations I've had the pleasure of not only using their services but also getting involved with. They provide much needed education concerning HIV/AIDS within the Asian American community on southern California. In particular, they host one event called Quest which is a transgender advocacy pageant. It's been running for just under 10 years I think. I went in 2009 and it was one of the most original, entertaining and touching events I've ever attended. It was open to all ethnicities and all the contestants looked amazing! Projects like Quest give visibility to the often forgotten "T" part of the LGBT community. Great organization, amazing cause!
