NYC New Restaurant Openings: October 2024 - Eater NY

"Lower East Side: Anna Bazhenova, behind South Street Seaport’s the Little Shop, a combination snack shop and bar, has opened Apartment 5. This new Lower East Side cocktail bar is meant to reflect a “mysterious godmother’s fabulous apartment,” per a release; a library area features hand-selected books from the Strand." - Emma Orlow

Overall rating: 3.5 Admittedly, I saw this place on Google maps after recommended & it looked very similar to Hi-Lots just in the lower east side. So naturally I just had high expectations for a place that had different intentions. I went on a Thursday night and it seems like it was just opening up from an event. My friend and I arrived at 9pm and the hosts looked very confused. They said they close at 10pm.. on a Thursday and we just wanted to sit at the bar. Also Google shows it closing at 12:30am, so not sure where the disconnect went. There was only 2 people there, so we were like okay we just want to get a nightcap anyway. The music was SO LOUD we couldn’t hear ourselves think. It was more of a clubby music scene which was weird because no one was there & “they were about to close”. The vibe in general was just way off. The drinks have clear descriptions so I was a bit surprised that when our drinks came out- they were both watered down with ice. But the descriptions of our drinks weren’t tiki themed. It was getting so loud at the bar, we just moved our drinks to a table to chat. Overall maybe this is more of a weekend activity, but likely won’t go again. Doesn’t seem worth it to me. And some of these high ratings are questionable.

I threw an art showcase here for some friends and have nothing but glowing reviews to report! Scheduling was easy. Lounge was spacious and comfortably fit our 30 person group. No venue rental fee or tab minimum on a Tuesday - which is truly the cherry on top! Brandon and Ashley were attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful.

Beautiful space, I went for a private event where the host rented out Apartment 5. The drinks are EXCELLENT. The bartenders were both so knowledgeable and friendly. The food was meh. I got the wings and they taste (and looked!) like reheated Kennedy Fried Chicken wings. Someone else got the rigatoni pasta and it was cold, like it was prepared and left out for 10-15 minutes. I would go back for drinks, but make sure you eat elsewhere. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor, but the door to one of the bathrooms was broken/stuck so you had to have the strength of Hercules to push open the door. Most people assumed someone was in there, so there was a long for the other bathroom with a functional door.

This new place is AWESOME! The drinks, the atmosphere, the staff and the overall vibe make it a must visit. It’s got multiple rooms each with fun themes and ample seating, making it a great place for good conversation over amazing cocktails. (The Holy Ghost and Garden Lady are my favorites 🍹)

Such a unique and welcomed addition to LES! The creative themes and hidden easter eggs in every room, really draws you in and makes you want to explore every nook and cranny. The drinks are IMMACULATE. The originality of even the drink menu itself just shows all the care that went into crafting the overall experience. Apartment 5/5 - a must visit!

I love this bar. The owner Anna is extremely kind and helpful. We just did a photoshoot using the space for my clothing brand and I feel so lucky I was able to find this space. Apartment 5 is about to be my new favorite go-to bar! Can’t wait to go back with my friends!!

Look at my review to apartment 5: We went on a Thursday, there wasn't much of a vibe and the place was nice, but all the special rooms were closed. The drinks and food are average and nothing to be surprised about. My partner decided to come because of all the photos and Instagram stories, but it was pure spectacle. So disappointed

Yelp
I was out with my friends after dinner, looking for a spot for a chill nightcap. If you live in New York, you know that the lower East side is far from chill on a Saturday night, so finding this place was a perfect dream. My friends spotted this place (which is quite unassuming from the outside) and we approached the doorman and entered this hidden oasis that was the complete vibe. The service was great (shout out to the beautiful hostess) and the drinks were cleverly unique. Highly recommend trying this place before the hype gets out!

Yelp
A cool bar with eclectic vibes. We were seated as a big group in the front of the bar for a birthday. Cocktails were good, they also have some decent wines. The place is pretty loud and the service was a little haphazard but it was the first weekend so completely understandable -- our entire order was duplicated so we got multiple of the same drinks brought to us but the staff were good about sorting it out! Definitely a fun place which I'd go back to if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Great spot for drinks and catching up with friends. The bartender was fantastic and so were all of the drinks. I think the drink prices could be alittle lower though
