I placed an order through DoorDash to use my credit, but this store had doubled the prices online. When I went to the store to address the issue, they started giving vague excuses about extra charges and were initially unwilling to help or resolve anything. It felt like an intentional attempt to take advantage of online customers. On top of that, the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. The customer service was disappointing, definitely not worth the hassle. I recommend going to Patel Brothers just down the street—much better experience and fair pricing. Their “fresh food” is not good, not tasty, I tried their samosas and pani puri, very salty and not flavorful.

Well stocked and fresh produce. The only issue is that the price is not displayed on the product, so you don't know how much you will pay at the counter. They used to display it earlier, don't know why it changed. Other than that, you get every Indian grocery product, nice and clean, ample parking.

Stopped in to buy some snacks and cold drinks. They have basil seed sodas and hot mix, as well as cake rusk for enjoying with hot tea. Reasonable pricing on snacks; haven't come for fresh vegetables and groceries, so can't say if the selection is good or bad.

The grocery store offers a decent selection of fresh vegetables and other groceries. They excel in providing a wide array of pooja materials and agarbattis. While they offer some kitchen utensils, the selection is not extensive. However, they boast an impressive range of herbal powders and oils. One downside is the shared parking across various shops in the complex, which can be challenging and time-consuming to find. Additionally, the availability and organization of carts within the store can be inconsistent, often requiring customers to search for one.

Google
This review is for their "freshly made" pakoras and Batata Wada. I picked up some and the pakoras were hard and chewy with no other taste than spicy hot peppers. The batatawada were dry and powdery from inside. Even someone who is not a professional chef can do better than this. I guess this stuff sells because people are lazy and/or know nothing better.

A huge Indian grocery store with a live food counter that serves several types of roti, samosa and a few other packaged snacks. They have a huge variety of Indian desserts too along with your typical fresh produce, meat and dairy. The produce section is towards the left as you enter, behind that is the live food counter, and then you cross over to the isles which contain the rest of your Indian grocery needs along with utensils and frozen products. During my time of visit, the store was moderately filled and there were more people lining up to get fresh rotis rather than the checkout lines. They do have a few organic options but bare in mind, the prices may be on the higher side. Overall, the prices seemed comparable to other similarly stacked Indian grocery stores. They have Covid precautions in place with masks mandatory inside the store. The isles were packed with products and were properly marked. The checkout process was decent and my overall experience was good.

Google
Lots and lots of Indian spices/rice/ and all types of Indian items available here . Quality is good . They also have a live chappati/ parotta maker in a food area .. I like their chappatis but some of the fried items like samosas, kachoris were not that good. It was too oily .. ready to eat/ fresh vegetable subzis are good . Mostly all other products and vegetables are of good quality .. parking is crazy here . Very difficult to get a parking on a weekend or a busy day … LastLy, pls BEWARE of the billing here . Many times they put wrong quantities or entries while buying (like they put 8 coconuts , but we only bought 4).. also check ur billing before you leave the store. We have had so many experiences with wrong billing in this shop. Hope the owners can take care of this .. otherwise it is a great shop for all desi needs …

Yelp
This review is for the fresh prepared food in the back. The samosas are fabulous!! My sister had told me about this place so when I was in NJ with the fam and wanted a good snack before heading to Costco, we stopped here. We headed straight to the back and ordered 10 samosas and some green and red chutney. We went back to the car and dug in. The samosas are hot, nice flaky shell and filled with potatoes, chickpea and green peas. Just enough curry flavor. Drenched in the chutney and boy....The 3 of us ate all of them in minutes. We went back in and brought 20 more to take home. The samosa are .75 each...BARGAIN!! They re-heat perfectly in the oven. I notice a sugar cane machine outside the store before I walked into the place but it was raining so no one was manning it. Hope it's open next time I get some more samosas.

Yelp
Great spot to pick up groceries and hot samosa, mirch pakora, aloo vada and bread pakora, spring roll and dont forget to get the green sauce ( cilantro ) and they do have the red sauce ( tamarind) but in my opinion the green sauce is excellent while the res sauce lacks the tamarind flavors, instead is more like a sweet red sauce. The samosas are freshly made every few minutes, stuffed with chick peas, spices and potato. Wow we couldn't get enough and when paired with the green sauce, wow get ready for a roller coaster of flavors on your palate. By the way as I write this review, i went back into the store again to take 20 samosas to go to share it with the family since they are so good.

Yelp
The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We wanted to avoid the crowd at a more famous grocer, so drove to this place for a change. The shop is situated in a quaint place surrounded by some more tailors and restaurants. The shop has so many items stacked up left and right from Indian vessels, pooja items to vegetables, pulses and even a small snack shops inside that sells samosas, bakoras and even fresh rotis. We luckily got a sturdy Dosa pan that we have been hunting for a very long time now. In terms of availability, they were short of nothing. Two things that stuck out for me was they could keep the shop little bit tidier as there were some dolls that looked like being permanently exhibited with no buyers and had dust in them and the second thing is that some items lacked a price sticker on them. The person at the checkout also couldn't know the price of the pan that we wanted to buy and had someone walk all the way to its aisle to check its price and we had to wait for a bit longer to get it sorted out.

Yelp
Fresh vegetable and all indian stuff. i visit weekly for my grocery. Hopefully demand will make them more bigger

Yelp
BEWARE!!!! Please check your receipts thoroughly before leaving the store. These people are high class cheats and cash register people are trained to cheat you. Items were ranging with incorrect price. Today April 7th 2023 check# 539825 amount $ 413.60. My cash register person was Diksha 1009. She was very rude and had an attitude. She rang several items twice. Upon being caught she unapologetically started showing her attitude. This store is nothing but a disgrace. If you shop here be very vigilant and ensure you are not being tricked or cheated!!!

Yelp
Just bought Gujhiyas. Upper maida layer was so hard like Rock and inside filling was dry and sugary. It might be sitting in shelf for days, possibly.

Varun B.

Yelp
Great quality of daals and vegetables and frozen foods. Better than Patel Bros whose refrigeration was not working and the frozen foods were thawing and soft.

Yelp
Apna Bazar is a good source for Indian foods and spices. They redid their layout recently and I found it to be clean and neat. Their prices for produce are well below supermarkets in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful, which is important for me as I am not that familiar with Indian foods.

Chandel M.

Yelp
Poor customer service !! Ride and horrible!! Tough to find fresh vegetables and some of things are over priced

Yelp
These people have almost everything. Organic (they keep adding more), fresh roties, paranthas, food, fried fun food, fresh veggies and really nice people. Lines are a little slow. Great frozen selection. There are a few things I get from other stores but apna bazaar has it covered 90% of the times. A grade

Lorna M.

Yelp
I recently went to Apna bazaar and bought a lot of items. Had almost 16 bags of grocery. The girl charged me twice for a buy one get one free. I also picked up by mistake urad gotta instead of urad daal. I called Aman, Manager to inform him as soon as I reached home. He assured me I could come any time and get it returned or refunded whenever I came back. I did not open the pack. When I went after a week he refused to take it back saying he cannot take because of the virus. Lame, silly excuse. He was just finding a way for me to come back to the store and shop. Never again will I shop thi store and I will inform my friends of this attitude, who might stop going there too. Good luck Aman !

Yelp
Worst Quality...... Planning to place official Complaint against them Most of the products do not have expiry dates because they are actually selling expired products.... I'm surprised who all have given such a good rating to them......

Yelp
I have been in NJ from last 8 months and I always go this place. many choices and they have what I need. Well organized and friendly staff. One stop of Indian grocery for me.

Yelp
The prices for produce can't be beat, and I was happy with everything I bought. I pay more for produce at Giant and Wegmans and I don't necessarily get the quality I'm looking for. To be fair, I didn't get any prepared foods, and I'm dismayed to see reviews mentioning that. The expiration date of produce is pretty obvious when you're handling it lol. I went to the Bensalem location, but can't find that entry here on Yelp. Easy parking, easy access.

Rachita B.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for years with my family. The produce quality is high and the prices are low. I particularly love when it's mango season! I always love getting mangoes here. The selection of frozen foods - i.e. Deep brand, etc. is varied and I like that there is always Nanak in stock too. The parking is free and available in the open asphalt lot out front, but beware as it can get packed and people tend not to always follow the "one way" signs and leave carts strewn everywhere! Overall, good place to get your basic Indian groceries. Aisles are clean and wide enough for many people, check out is a breeze and they take credit card (!!), and the staff is usually pretty helpful.

Yelp
Be careful when shopping and check the expiry dates on products. Have seen products especially in the frozen section where the products were more than two years expired.

Yelp
Worst customer service at Edison store of Apna Bazar. I brought a few food items and wasn't satisfied with them, I called the store and was told that I can come back and return it. I drove an hour to return, and was treated the worst way possible. The ladies at the counter talked in their own native language which I believe was Gujarati, totally oblivious to the fact that not everyone speaks their language and later told me that it can not be returned. The condescending manner in which they spoke to me made me feel as if I have done a crime. Then the owner came from somewhere, and actually asked me to smell the food and tell me if it was bad. Never in my life, have I experienced such a behavior at a store in States. All this was happening in front of 20 people in queue, and I was trying my level best to be as calm and silent as possible so they don't get negative publicity, which they hardly cared about. I left as soon as my refund was done, as I was shaken by what all had happened with me in those 15 minutes.

Reviewer R.

Yelp
Good variety of grocery at decent prices but this place is a zoo! Customer service is completely lacking and place itself is dirty and stinky.

Amit A.

Yelp
A lot of variety but OMG this place is crazy on the weekends. So many people inside, narrow aisles and parking is painful
google avatar

Yelp
Not that clean. Typical indian grocery store. Pretty small and cramped. No parking. U need to go in the morning or late evening for some peaceful shopping. Prices are reasonable. Only good thing is lots of food stores nearby so one stop shop to get every thing

Swathi M.

Yelp
I definitely remember seeing more negative reviews for the place a while back but have they been...deleted...? Anyway. It's a decent Indian grocery store and is often my family's only stop for the weekly grocery stock-up. The produce is generally fresh and I haven't run into an issue with expired items on the shelves so far. It's not the cleanest place ever but all Indian grocery stores are pretty much like this one. If you want to shop at a place with really low prices, you've gotta expect them to compromise in other places (probably environmental sustainability and minimum wage work). However, whenever I've had a question about produce, someone has always been there to help me. This place is all about business so (in response to a negative response I saw earlier but don't see now...) don't expect the ladies at the cashier to be naturally and automatically chatty. You're stepping out of the American culture and into an Indian one.

Nil J.

Yelp
Beware of this store. Please check expiry/best by dates for frozen foods. The store staff will misguide you for sure.

Yelp
This grocery has everything you could want for East Asian cooking at decent prices. The service is good/friendly too. I look forward to my grocery shopping trips there. Oh yeah & I'm not Asian and the staff there are always willing to take a minute to explain uses/names of things to me which I appreciate.

Yelp
Better for Indian Grocery... This location has more variety than Jersey City location...

Deepthi M.

Yelp
I am going to file a complaint against them with FDA. Just go pick up a peanut bag at the entrance under sale section and you are bound to find worms & insects in the bags. I think these are expired stuff and they are trying to get rid of these by charging $8.99 per bag. I was in shock and disbelief after seeing this and showed it to the ppl who work there but they just take away the bag from you and don't seem to be concerned at all. The lady just told me it happens sometimes. But this happened to me twice and I am not keeping quiet this time. I just walked out from there not buying any unbranded grocery but fresh produce like vegetables.
