"Apollo’s is a popular option for lunch, but a night on the town is never complete without a quick stop for the restaurant’s fresh gyros and a side of crispy fries. Ascend the stairs inside, and feel the instant need for a fluffy warm pita topped with savory lamb and tzatziki. Cool, laid-back, and completely satisfying, Apollo’s is worth the visit." - Angela Lee

Love this place. Since I come in from out of town during the Arnold Classic weekend. It gives me an opportunity to eat some real food. 3-4 miles away from the downtown scene. Once you walk inside.. you have the TV Anime cartoons at night or music doing the day. Staff is always helpful. Food and fries is always excellent. Lamb gyro and fries in house with the traditional Greek Tzatziki sauce. Cant ever go wrong with it.

When I bought the vegetarian dolmathes, they already had mold on them. I called twice and it did not go through, and there’s no way to get in touch online. I originally planned to request a refund instead of posting a negative review, but when I read the owner’s hostile replies to negative reviews, I decided that it wasn’t worth it to risk a hostile interaction in person.

Linda E (LZNLNDA)

Google
very disappointing, drove twice as far to get gyros from here versus one down the street. fries were terrible, the pita was greasy and the meat was dry. lettuce and tomatos looked and tasted like they were a day away from spoiling. sauce is just yogurt witha hint of cucumber…. one bite in and I could not stomach the thought of taking another bite or trying the fries. Got in my car and got a gyro from the place down the street as I should have in the beginning.

Google
Good place, but it’s better midday and in person. Son has been very personable since he took over. Definitely a hole in the wall. If you want pristine and refined, then this is not it. If you’re looking a reasonably price gyro with some good fries, I’d say it’s a solid joint.

Google
The gyro's are good and the fries are edible without putting that extra fry time that black people want their French fries. Also it's on campus and parking isn't a nightmare UNLESS there's a game (disclaimer) because people have the internet and will say I was a liar cause they went when college game day and the Goodyear blimp was flying around. Also customer volume doesn't seem to prolong the wait time so they're efficient... I work on campus and I go here once a week btw (everything's on campus) so this is a realistic choice

Kelly Reaver

Google
The Gyro was well worth the 1.5 hr drive!!! It was great to enjoy campus area while there!

Vincent Lam

Google
Gyro tasted great and authentic with sauce and veggies. Fries were crispy and hot. The lunch specials are worthy.

Google
Their regular gyros are excellent and have been enjoyed by all of my family and friends who've been introduced. Whether you're an OSU student, in-town for the night life, or just visiting, Apollo's Greek Kitchen is an excellent, affordable choice and I can't recommend their regular gyro enough (I highly-recommend it be ordered "regular"; I highly-recommend resisting the urge to customize this menu item)! The staff is always notable friendly and fast. Anytime I've ordered in-person or via DoorDash, the quality of Apollo's food has been consistently excellent. I am not affiliated with the restaurant and typically don't leave reviews, but their food is so good that it has to be shared with others! Order a "regular gyro" today! You'll see that no embellishments were made! - Tyler, Tech By Trade

Yelp
Athena's is a straightforward gyro shop, gyros are on point. Wife and I have visited here 3 times (me, 4). When they are not busy your ordered is presented to you fairly quick. Place a mobile order if you just wanna walk in and grab it. Chicken is just the right size for a regular gyro. Fries are seasoned, perfectly, in my opinion. Seating is adequate as long as it's not bustling on the inside. Good place to eat, I see more gyros in my future

Adri C.

Yelp
The falafel is soft, but the taste is mid. The service is really uncomfortable. One guy (owner?) yelling random things (today's rant was about stupid people) and one younger guy at the register whose eyes and smirk make me wish I wasn't a woman. The inside is run-down but could be okay enough to eat in if I didn't want to avoid being spoken to by the guys working there any further. My male friend assures me "they're just always like this," but I don't think that's an excuse. "The first time I walked in here with my friends, he screamed, 'F**K.'" Definitely not a place for the girlies or faint of heart.

Yelp
This place is good after a night out. I'm not a really big fan of trying new food but I have it a shot and it didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic and the employees were super nice. The place it self could have been a little bit more clean, but still my overall experience was good.

Paulette Noelle G.

Yelp
I just moved back to Ohio after 20 years on the west coast. I was SO happy to see that Apollo's is still in business! I could not find ANY gyro on the west coast to compare with the taste & quality of Apollo's! They are simply THE BEST! Now, in my retirement, I can visit Apollo's and enjoy the wonderful memories of taking my boys for gyros when they were growing up! They told me when they think of Apollo's gyros, they too wish they could move back to Ohio!

Michael B.

Yelp
I came in last night around 11:15. Ordered 2 gyros and went home. Takes me 8 minutes to get home. I sat down and opened my gyros and bit into one any it was stone cold. Now I wouldn't normally say something but I I know that ready to eat foods in most places is above 140. So there is no way that it would be stone cold in 8 minutes if was held above the food danger zone. Witch is between 140 to 40 degrees. That's the range bacteria will grow. I had to throw them out. Please hold your ready to eat foods at exaepable temps. Your going to give someone food poisoning.

Kobe W.

Yelp
From a former delivery driver, the owner (glasses, hat, ponytail) is often oddly rude to people coming in to pick up orders for him. It actually reached a point where I stopped accepting orders coming from his restaurant (even if they paid well) just to avoid interacting with him. Coming here and seeing that I'm not the only one who felt this way confirms exactly what I had thought. The place seems popular to be fair, but it's likely due to the location more than anything else. Food seems okay but the poor treatment from the owner discourages me from supporting this business, unfortunately.

Dan G.

Yelp
Campus food offerings on high street have gotten so gentrified that it's nice to visit the familiar face of Apollos. Great prices and fresh hot food. Prices were 1$ 30 years ago for a gyro. Only 5$ now. Great guys working, laughing, and prepping good food. The only thing missing was the gyro cone rotisserie. Meat came from a hot tray, but was still delicious.

Lauren C.

Yelp
food is okay but the service is hit or miss. u either get rly nice green beard guy or weird angry ponytail man. went in today and the guy had five orders to make and was losing it. he was yelling and cussing and slamming stuff. delivery drivers would come in to pick up food and he would be very rude to them. it made for a very uncomfortable time. we got our food and immediately left because it was scary. okay in revision of this review. the food is wet and not very good

chris c.

Yelp
Came in for the first time today and got an extra meat gyro with fries and a drink. Very reasonable pricing. Food came within a few minutes and the man making it was super chill. Gyro had a great amount of meat, had to finish what dropped from it with a fork. Fries were crispy and well seasoned and my Dr Pepper was nice and cold. Small hole in the wall shop, but definitely worth the money and I'll be coming back often.

Meg F.

Yelp
Hands down, best gyros I've ever had. The meat is tender and juicy, veggies are fresh, and the tzatziki and hummus are on point. And did I mention it's a bargain? Highly recommend!

William D.

Yelp
Apollo's Greek Kitchen is an OSU campus must do. My first gyros was in 1992 and 30 years later it did not disappoint and still best Greek food on campus. Thank you Louis for keeping a place "where the gyros, turns, and turns." Still best gyros in town. Thank you.

Christina D.

Yelp
Slightly creepy building? Check. Faded posters of Greek islands? Check. Picture of General Leia Organa taped to the cash register? SOLD. In all seriousness, this place is good. Friendly people, a bit of character (I'm kind of sick of everyplace looking like the same Chipotle), and I had dinner for $7. Can't beat that. The fries were slightly overdone and could have used some seasoning, but the gyro was nice and came with plenty of meat, sauce and veggies. Overall a great option for grabbing a meal on campus.

Abe R.

Yelp
I didn't think it was possible to make a gyro as disgusting as this was... and to follow that up the fries where like cardboard. The lamb gyro was chewy and tasted like a hamburger I want to throw up so badly and just re eat dinner. Ruined my whole day

Tanner B.

Yelp
Prior to this meal, I had never eaten Greek food. Having said that, I was very impressed. I ordered the mini special that came with two gyros, fries, and a drink. It was super filling and delicious. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone.

Gregory W.

Yelp
Really gross and rude bearded employee. I feel sick after eating the meal. So nasty I hated it.

Eric A.

Yelp
Avoid this place like the plague. Stopped in there at about 10:45 Tuesday night December 14th. The guy says what do you need I said I would like to place an order then he was a smartass and said yeah that's kind of why I said what do you need. I then asked to get a chicken sandwich and he said they changed the orders a half hour before closing. I didn't order said okay and started to walk away while telling him that he was kind of rude anyway. This piece of crap loser actually followed me outside of the establishment screaming at the top of his lungs on High Street like a psychiatric patient. Lololol. Other reviews on here have him doing the same thing screaming at people. Hey pal if you're reading this sell your business and go get some mental help. Fucking loser

Tessa T.

Yelp
The worst service you will ever receive. The owner is INCREDIBLY rude and SLAMMED THE DOOR IN MY FACE after I had already placed an order! He claimed his restaurant can't be ordered from with Eatstreet and when I showed him it was his restaurant at that address, he said "yeah that's not us" and walked away. I'll never return again to this trash establishment.

Jen Y.

Yelp
As far as gyros go I love this place. I have ordered delivery through Yelp multiple times every so often. However, today I changed my order and added hummus. Needless to say I was quite shocked that my $4 hummus was roughly a third of a cup! After trying it... And I'm stating I'm starving hungry, it was the worst crap I have ever had! No tahini taste what so ever. There was more pita than dip! Even if I spread it like butter I couldn't use all the pita! However it's a campus joint and they will always get business. So losing mine won't hurt them. If you go, just stick to the gyros. I just found out that yelps "not recommended" reviews are far worse.

Heather D.

Yelp
Awesome. Amazing. OSU institution. Please leave it be, Columbus. Best in the city at the best price.

Scott V.

Yelp
I've been going to Apollo's since I was a OSU student in the 90's. Their gyros and hummus always make me come back to the area or after a sporting event. As High Street changes and more upscale restaurants come in, this place has never changed its image. If you want to experience a true college hangout, Apollo's & Adriaticos will always be that place. BTW, did I mention the gyros are amazing when it's late night or afternoon.

Veronica B.

Yelp
The food flavor was great! I love Greek food and the gyros here were really good. However I ordered hummus and got fuzzy mold on the top.... I ordered DoorDash and couldn't get it replaced. Kind of made me queezy and didn't want to finish my meal. It was good. But this was just not okay

Rue C.

Yelp
Terrible- yelp says they are open at 2am and they are closed. Change your hours man!!!

Caroline F.

Yelp
Easily the worst customer service you will ever experience in your life. Main creepy guy with hat and long ponytail literally screams at guests to get out after they support his business. Food is well below average too and will likely give you a stomach ache.

April S.

Yelp
Food is as expected, minus the flavor. The food is completely flavorless, and that goes for every single dish I ordered. Go somewhere else for Greek food, seriously. I don't know how you mess up hummus, the most basic of Greek food staples, but this place did it.

Allison G.

Yelp
Worst gyro I have ever had!! I wish I could put the flavor of this "gyro" on here. I ordered the lamb gyro & decided to add cheese assuming it would be feta cheese. Nope. It had cheddar cheese! What Greek restaurant puts cheddar cheese on a gyro? There is absolutely no way that the dressing was tzatziki. It was more of a sour cream taste. And 3 strips of meat that were tough. I am beyond disappointed.

Steve A.

Yelp
I know the service at Apollo's sucks. That's what makes this place an institution. If the food wasn't so cheap or tasty, it would have closed a long time ago. It's open throughout the day, but is fun to experience at night. The drunks really like this place. Apollo's is perfect for when you're looking for something to absorb the alcohol late at night and are low on money. They are open until 3 on Sundays to Thursdays, and until 4 on Fridays and Saturdays. It has a pretty big menu of not so authentic Greek food though it's still good for the price. The falafel is among the best I've had. An individual pita as about $3.50. The number 3 combo is a falafel pita, fries, and pop for about $7. Another good side is the hummus or the vegetarian grape leaves. They also serve beer and the hard stuff if you're still not quite drunk enough to eat here. Service may be the rudest there is on campus. They are fast and sometimes are pleasant though. Be aware of the older couple, the owners. If you can avoid them, your service will likely be much better. It's fun though to see them argue with customers, as long as it's not with you. All the other employees are not as bad. They're actually pretty pleasant compared to them. Another option is to have it delivered. They will come late at night too so if you're not able to stumble your way there they will bring it. I like the cheap prices and it's simply good food. The falafel pita is the best thing to eat here. Will come again because of the cheap eats and the experience of seeing all the crazy drunk people.

Faris A.

Yelp
Such amazing food! The guy made our take out sandwiches with passion. Good deal for sure! Recommended.

Ayse A.

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I was feeling hungry and ordered a delicious "My Big Fat Gyro" and some Kaitifi on Grubhub. I've been using Grubhub regularly for two years , so no problem, right? WRONG. I don't live that far from OSU campus where this is located and had made the order $$$$ minimum. Around my estimated delivery time, I spoke with the driver on the phone with him yelling at me (yes, yelling on the phone) about how he couldn't find my place and to stand out on the street, which I did. After about five minutes of him berating me on the phone after I tried to direct him to where I was, using building references and directions and him telling me to look for "a red truck with ladders in the back" (Excuse me what?) I finally hung up, tired of being yelled at. This is where it gets interesting. I call the restaurant to tell the manager about the worst delivery experience I've ever had, then owner yells at me for living downtown and ordering a sandwich and side (if this is an issue, then up your delivery minimum) and that his store spends thousands of dollars a day in operating costs. He then hangs up. Oh , and I never got my food. Grubhub refunded me all of my money, which was great, but this place is a joke. Will never order from here again. What gives, Apollos? Your food looks delicious, but you guys are mean, which is a no go for me.

Black W.

Yelp
I eat here once a week. I work down the street and this is the start of my night...I know what quality of food I'm getting and it's the same every time!!! Amazing!!! And thank you Apollos!

Gage G.

Yelp
Great food, and I've never had an issue with the staff, but I have seen the staff be horribly rude to people and have heard a number of stories of the like. Food is very good though so I really can't go under 4 stars

Sydney W.

Yelp
SO RUDE - Owner started yelling at my friends and I when we sat down at the table. He was closing the restaurant, but could have said that he wanted to close instead of yelling at us at the top of his lungs. Food is awful and chicken was undercooked. Do not go here!!

Camilla A.

Yelp
Quick, delicious, friendly, affordable! I got the classic gyro. Only thing was that it was on the smaller side and i wish i had gotten two or a side to supplement it.

Ashley R.

Yelp
I'll preface this with the fact that I have only ever had take-out / delivery.. which has always been on time, well packaged and exactly what I ordered. I've had the regular gyro several times, holds up very well to delivery and quite delicious. Just the right amount of filling so you don't have it all over your face and clothes. :) I usually add in some pitas and dipping sauces to all of my orders, all of which have been great but the spicy feta is great! The breaded mushrooms are good too.. also hold up well for delivery. Last time I also had the spanakopita which was very good as well. I find that the prices and portions are reasonable -- great last minute delivery for dinner when you just don't feel like cooking!

Isaac S.

Yelp
Terrible fucking service from the moody male ginger bearded fella. Rudely said "same menu we've always had" as I asked a simple question, like I was a regular asking an ignorant question. As I waited for my food and sat down to find a cold sand which I was bitched at for ordering a to go order "for to go!!!!" They yelled at me when their store had two other customer lmaogonna miss those five dollar giros for sureeee not. Nice hospitality you hole in the wall joke of a Greek resteraunt

Zachary A.

Yelp
I ordered two chicken gyros with fries and a drink with the coupon the driver got here I asked if I could check if they were cold and he said no I have 22 more orders I have to go and ran off I called back within the 48 hour time limit after getting sick from too cold chicken euros a manager name Matt told me I was going to get reimbursed with that same order and his owner George has now overridden by saying I didn't call within 48 hours these two pictures prove it this is the worst establishment ever imagine getting a cold euro and getting sick and I'm not even sending you one out to make up for itMason representative planet7 VIP manager if Called Sunday morning 1:02 AM called Monday 8:40 PM well within the time limits I was told the manager on duty would put my name down now that it's all the 40 our limits suddenly my number isn't down there this is a scam don't ever order the chicken it's awful

Karen M.

Yelp
Do you know spices? 'Cause if you do please teach Apollo about them. The blandest gyro meat I've ever tried. Not even worth eating. I ordered a gyro salad and didn't get any dressing. The fries were hot and delicious. A shot of Jim Beam was $3.50...total bargain!

Victoria S.

Yelp
I really love this place. You get such a deal for your money. I spend $6 here and leave full. They have soooo many options, they're friendly, and fast. I come here when I need my gyro fix and never leave disappointed. Only negative is seating is limited and there's a bit of a funky smell in the place. Not enough to deter me from going, and I still will sit and eat there if I go, but that could be improved. Still, I hope this place stays forever. It's just a great place to go for a cheap, delicious meal. Perfect for the busy college street.

Jared W.

Yelp
It took me a year and a half on campus before trying Apollo's for the first time. I ordered a regular gyro and falafel pita-both $3.50. The falafel pita was pretty mediocre; the falafel lacked good flavor and was just slightly burnt. The gyro was excellent, however, and I would put it right with Buckeye Donut's gyros which are also very good. The pita was soft, the meat was super tender, and it had decent tzatziki sauce. Overall 3.5 stars bumped up to 4 because of the cheap price ($3.50) for a pretty good-sized gyro.

Faisal H.

Yelp
Horrible food, mean employees, they disgusted me, I would never eat from here, and the staff is just rude for no reason not even joking just completely arrogant and the food taste like shit and overpriced for what the food is its just frozen food served to hungry college kids go anywhere but here

Liya S.

Yelp
literally disugusting dont come here if u like ur digestive system. theres no flavor and it was greasy and disgsuting. id literally rather go to long john silvers. employee was rude asf and i did noy feel bad about not leaving a tip!!! how did they pass the health inspection. dont come here, im warning you!!!!!!

Ahmad O.

Yelp
I usually have good things to say about Apollo's, but not this time. I ordered the gyro platter which it says comes with pitas, along with meat and veggies for two. I received my order, only to discover that I had received no pitas. I called them up and explained and the guy on the phone tried to tell me that I had mixed up the order and it only comes with one pita. Me: I get that, but I didn't receive any pitas... Apollo's: Ok, well do you really want me to send the driver back out for one pita? Me: Yeah...I can't eat my gyro without the pita. The customer service was just below average this time around. Although, their food is good. you have to know how to treat customers. I should receive what I paid money for, no matter the inconvenience of the delivery driver.

Armando M.

Yelp
I walked in looking for a gyro and a bathroom. I was going to buy for 3 friends(including myself) and they denied me use of their bathroom. Nothing like being denied a bathroom while standing in line. I would rather pay for anything else than this terrible establishment.

Lloyd M.

Yelp
I've heard people rave about Apollo's, and I've seen the lines of people waiting to get in there in the summertime, for over 2 years now so I decided it's finally time to try it out. I ordered the gyro with extra meat, fries, drink and a piece of baklava. Even though the meat was the greasiest I've ever had in a gyro the fact that there was extra meat was sort of a plus. I've never had a gyro where the pita bread was soggy, not from the tzatziki sauce (which was lacking, btw) but from the grease. Half the fries were good but the other half was overcooked. Fries are not supposed to be brittle and brown/dark brown. The baklava, well....I've had better. Top half was very dry and bottom half was only slightly gooey. I've had much better at King Gyro on the east side. Even Sababa, who doesn't do gyro's, was much better. As far as the service, not friendly but not rude either. Received food quickly for the time of day (12:30pm) although it wasn't very busy at all. Maybe a place I'll eat at again once or twice in a pinch but there are many better places along High St near campus that I'd go to before Apollo's again.

Bruna V.

Yelp
I've tried a lot of the items on their menu but always come back to the chicken gyro combo: chicken gyro, French fries, and a drink all for $7. Can't beat that. Made fresh and the French fries are always PERFECT. A million times better than McDonalds French fries. Night crew are my favorite people. They deal a lot with drunk college students so you can't blame them for their sassyness but they are friendly if you are too. Overall, great food & great prices.

Rose E.

Yelp
dirty. i wish i could give less than 1 star. trash all around. the food is soggy and unflavored. the employees are rude as hell. and they begged for tips. and the entire restaurant was dirty. bugs. bugs. bugs.

Daniel K.

Yelp
So my son orders this from his OSU dorm last night. The order includes two "mini pack combos". Each is supposed to have 2 gyros, fries, and a drink. Uber Eats delivers a single bag stapled shut. Opening it up there is 1 gyro. That's it. No drinks, no fries, missing 3 gyros. He tells the driver and she says to call the restaurant. My son calls to tell the restaurant and they berate him, swear at him, finally admits that they made the mistake of only sending 1 "mini pack". When my son tries to explain that even that order only had 1 gyro, the employee blames Uber Eats and claims he packed it himself and hangs up. It was a stapled shut bag. It's a service business that depends on the campus students ordering. If I owned the business the first thing I would do upon reading this review is fire the employee from last night. Ripping off the students will eventually take it's toll. Unfortunately, they know they have a captive audience and will probably do nothing. My son's assessment of the one gyro that was delivered was that the street vendors on High Street serve much better gyros. It's a no go folks. Total fail earning a 1 star review from my son and my first 1 star post. Congrats. You earned it.

Rebecca T.

Yelp
Apollo's is one of those places I'm sure you've heard about if you go to school at OSU. There are always coupons for it rolling around campus in the Saver Magazine, and if you're walking High Street you're guaranteed to note the very sketchy storefront. However, that's how you know the food is going to be great. I've never had a gyro from here since I am not *honestly* such a huge fan of them, but their hummus and pita is delicious and very well priced, as is everything there. Their delivery service is on point as well, which is great for a lazy, late-night worker like me! Would recommend to all lazy, hungry college students!

Talin B.

Yelp
Okay late night food. If you're hungry and need a nicer option than fast food, this would be my choice. Service a bit unfriendly, however, quick and easy

Yuliya M.

Yelp
Great tasting food! I got the special with two regular (beef/lamb) gyros, French fries, and a drink for $10. I shared with my sister. The gyro was delicious and so were the fries. Fast and friendly service. Not stroller accessible (there are stairs leading up to the seating area) but we carried our strollers up and down the stairs anyways.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Just like when I went to school....excellent gyro and beer on a Friday afternoon. Simple place...typical college food at great prices! Want a good gyro, this is your place!
