Appalachian Grill

I absolutely love this place, the environment, the low lights set the perfect scene for an amazing dining experience. They have a great bar, with amazing house cocktails, the Espresso Martini was exceptional. For dinner I had the 8oz Prime Rib with a baked potato and it was delicious. I highly recommend this place, the salads are the best anywhere with a piece of homemade cornbread. If you’re in Cartersville and looking for a great place to eat, don’t miss your opportunity to have a great meal and a fun night out.

This was probably my third time here. Food is always amazing. But would suggest having an actual mixed drink menu. The drinks we asked for were made but didn’t quite hit the mark. But other than that again food awesome. Service awesome! Everything is awesome!

This is an awesome restaurant. My husband and I always tend to go here on date nights. Great atmosphere, bar selection, but honestly the food is just incredible. We always get the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, and we added the portebello mushroom this time too, and oh my goodness. It did not disappoint. I got the 8oz prime rib, which was just incredible. My husband got the monte crisco which he gets every time and let’s just say he once again very happy after eating!

We went about 2pm for lunch. It was great. We had no wait. The lighting was dim and we were able to have conversation with little to no noise. The server was good. She checked on us just the right amount and prices were not bad at all. We did get burgers not anything crazy but i have to say that it is one of the thickest burgers I have seen in a while. For two our bill was under $40. It’s hard to find places for around that price now. I will be coming back. For the picture i ordered the Gouda burger and i forgot to take the picture before i cut it so it looks a little flattened, that was due to the cutting.

Loved this place. I ate the mountain trout, grilled instead of crusted. VERY tasty! I am gluten free, and although they don’t have any labeling on the menu, they are understanding and as accommodating as possible. My waitress brought out the kitchen manager to answer my questions and make sure I wouldn’t get sick, and knew which dishes could be modified to fit my dietary restriction. My waitress was very kind and helpful. Great service. Thank you Appalachian Grill!

First time here, and it was beyond superb. The salad with their house dressing was incredible, never thought I would be eating every bite of a salad. The pecan crusted chicken was mouth watering. Also, really liked the vibe and atmosphere in the restaurant as well. So amazing!

The Good, the Bad, and the Hostile I’m torn on this review because the experience was a tale of two different worlds. The Service & Food: Absolute perfection. Our waitress was outstanding—attentive without being hovering. The kitchen is a well-oiled machine; the food came out at a great pace, tasted delicious, and the portions were well worth the price. The Atmosphere: This place is spotless. They have a 100A health inspection score, and it shows. Even the restrooms were well-kept and comfortably heated for the winter. The Hostile: The hostess station. "Hostile services" would be a more accurate name. They forced entire parties to crowd into a very limited waiting area inside just to place them on the waiting list. It’s a ridiculous, insulting practice that ignores customer comfort and common sense. (This is rated in the Atmosphere section) Overall, it's a great place to spend time with family or friends, but management needs to rethink the front-of-the-house attitude. It would be a 5-star stay if the welcome wasn't so cold.

We love this restaurant. Excellent service and food. The swordfish was perfect! We also loved the fried shrimp!!! I highly recommend visiting if you have the chance.

The staff were very friendly and since the main dining area was booths, I asked for a high top in the bar area. There are no fountain drinks and later, when I asked for a refill, I thought I'd been forgotten. But it turned out the waitress was diligently seeking another can, but apologized as I'd been served the last can of Diet Pepsi in stock. For a starter I had the Jan's Miracle Mushroom Soup that was topped with a puff. Despite it's airiness, I had to carefully workaround the puff until I'd consumed half of the soup, since it was too tough to cut with a fork. And cutting with a knife meant I risked spilling the soup over the edge. The flavor was great and I'd definitely order it again. For my entree I had the rib eye and a baked potato as the side. It had a wonderful color and had a nice seasoning. It was a quality cut and was cooked to order, and had a touch of au jus that helped flavor the potato. That potato was served "loaded" and the bacon used was very flavorful.

After never having a bad experience over many years at Appalachian Grill, last night was a swing & a miss. To be fair, the food was actually mostly good and the ambiance is still nice, except for some odd smells from the kitchen at times. Anyway, it was a 30-min wait - not surprising given the popularity of the place, but we did notice some tables sitting empty for a while. Staffing maybe? Anyway, we were seated & "M" promptly arrived asking about drinks & specials. We said we'd need just a minute but would start with water. She disappeared for a solid 10-12 min. We almost left but she returned & took orders. I got shrimp bisque (good but no shrimp pieces noticed or really no real shrimp flavor). Wife got the miracle mushroom soup with a beautiful puff pastry on top & loved it. We split the Gouda bacon burger with fries. We'd have each ordered full entrees but to sub a different vegetable on the fish dinner was going to cost another $2, putting fried haddock at over $30. No thanks. Mercifully, the soups came quickly but burger took another 20 min. as we saw food delivered to new arrivals all around us. Burger was good but the plank fries were ugly (with a big brown spot on top) & nothing to write home about. "M" again disappeared for long stints, eventually refilling my tea but never showed back up with my to-go tea before we'd had enough waiting & left.

Looked on yelp to find a place for lunch and one particular photo brought me in. I found the place no problem and was warmly greeted by the staff and Miranda was an excellent server. I had the shrimp n grits and it was excellent! They talked me into the Key Lime to finish up and it was great. Warm inviting and just an all around great place. I highly recommend.

My husband and I went to the Telles Museum yesterday for my birthday and stopped at this restaurant for lunch first. I have to say if it wasn't 1 hour and 45 minutes from our house we would be regulars. The atmosphere is rustic, unique and warm. Our server was Kim and she was lovely. Attentive without being intrusive. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the pecan crusted trout and my husband had the scallops and shrimp pasta. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. The town looks awesome but we didn't have time to spend there. We will be back and will eat here again.

The service was excellent, it's a nice Lil quaint place. The food presented itself well, it was downright pretty and looked well seasoned but unfortunately, I found the food to be a little bland. Nothing had a taste other than the small fish bread that came with the salad and the mashed sweet potatoes. I gave it 3 stars because everyone was so friendly.

A great lunch spot for sure. Our group had a couple of different dishes. The montecristo was different. Great. But different. The BLT was perfect in my opinion. I didn't try the chicken but everyone said it was great. Our server was fantastic. Very attentive. The lunch portions were very generous. I will definitely come back to try other menu items on my next trip.

If you aren't ready to be bombarded with Christmas music, don't come here. So annoying Also, I asked for my dressing on the side just to be delivered a salad soaked with dressing.

The music and lighting was fine when we arrived. Half way through our meal, the lights dimmed slightly (in an already dim room) and the music volume nearly doubled. The lighting was as annoying as the music, the music volume was honestly absurd. I would suggest some sort of earplugs to soften/dull the music. It's my second time here and it is just as disappointing as the first. I have tried the fried pickles, calamari, and crawfish for appetizers and they were all VERY salty. They were served with a good sauce. The entrees I have tried are the shrimp and grits and the pan roasted shrimp and scallops. The shrimp and grits was so-so maybe a 6/10. The pan roasted shrimp and sea scallops was okay, maybe a 4/10. The "spicy" Alfredo sauce was regular subpar Alfredo, could have been from a jar and would taste better. When they say a dish has onions and peppers, like the pan roasted shrimp and sea scallops, the dish has TONS of peppers and onions. I could not even see pasta for the peppers and onions, and I only got 3 shrimp and 3 scallops so definitely not worth the price. The service was great, our waitress was fantastic. The service does not make up for the terrible ambience and subpar food. My boyfriend and I came about 10 months ago and it was the same. He will not come back. I gave it a second chance. I came back with my parents and grandmother this time because we had a gift card. It was just as terrible. I do not know how this place has such a high average star rating.

Great place to have a Saturday lunch. We had the crabcakes which were good. My wife had the catfish which was great. The Brussels spouts and collard greens were awesome. This place has a great staff and very welcome southern charm loved how our server made us feel right at home, and she was doing great with it being that busy.

Always a favorite, I drove here regularly for dinners with customers. It is $$ and worth every penny.

I'm not normally one to write reviews but here goes. We purposely went at 5:00 because they don't take reservations. Our friends arrived a few minutes before and asked if they could put our name in. They were very brusquely told no, that the whole party needed to be there. It wasn't the rule, it was the way they spoke to my friend that was the problem. We asked to change booths because they wanted to seat us at a booth we had been in before and it rocked a little and was right beside the kitchen door. Again, we were made to feel that we were putting everyone out. We had a wonderful waitress that took care of us but when the food arrived, my prime rib was an end piece. In my opinion, that cut shouldn't be served. It was flavored well but was tough to cut. If we hadn't of been with a group, I probably would have sent it back. I'm sure we'll go back because I like the ambience of the restaurant, but to maintain a more upscale atmosphere, a few things could definitely use some work.

Four of us came to the Appalachian Grill for lunch. It was a first time visit, and we came upon high recommendations from friends. All of our meals were absolutely delicious & prepared perfectly! I had the Grouper with a Crab Cake. Others had Catfish & 1 had the Appalachian Grill Special. For Dessert we had Key Lime Pie & Creme Brulee. Our amazing server was Ally. She was very polite, professional and just a Sweetheart. She took excellent care of us. We also got to meet the manager & the owner Jackie. It was great dining experience for all. Highly recommend the Appalachian Grill for lunch or dinner!

I've been here a few times when in Cartersville and it's been a great experience each time. A very delicious menu, plenty of drinks available as well, and service has always been top notch.

My detailed review was removed. Simply put, good food. Bad service. Terrible attitude. I had multiple "Helpful" "Thanks" and "Oh no" comments. Somehow the incredulous owner had the power to have it removed. Beware to dare question his authority!

My husband and installed in and it got a little quiet. Even the people waiting to be served looked at us as if we had two heads. I know there's not many black folks in Cartersville but as you can tell from my reviews we strive to eat quality foods. As we walked ourselves to be seated we saw nothing but Trump memorabilia. We decided to leave and was saluted by a mini animal statue with a MAGA hat on. How intrusive. Took my money to Table20 up the road and it was the best local seasonal food in the area. Go there.

It was our first time at Appalachian Grill and I was a bit underwhelmed to say the least. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. When we got there we asked for a highchair and a booster seat--they have neither. What kind of restaurant doesn't have these items readily available!?! A restaurant that is not kid friendly. Food was ok, not bad but not as great as their prices would lead you to believe. This is definitely a one and done for me!

Has a lot of history behind it from the music location and ambiance. Food is well portioned and alo though some people may consider expensive it is totally worth it for what you get everything is well seasoned and flavorful with amazingly created recipes and some new things most people have never tried definitely recommend if ever in the heart of cartersville you will not regret coming in the deserts are also to die for. Service is fast and helpful

Decades of Love, Some Room to Grow. I Rating: (3.5 stars) Review: Loyal to the Appalachian Grill for over two decades, but today's visit fell short. While my go-to dish was still tasty, the chicken was too thick and tough. Quick fix: halve the chicken for shared plates and butterfly-cut it before frying with the pecan crust. Service was solid though. Willing to revisit and reconsider my rating. Great drinks still make it a top pick.

In spite of our arriving 10 minutes before closing the service staff was quite accommodating. In particular Chloe was super sweet. Loved her recommendations of Shrimp & Grits for me and almond crusted chicken for the wife with a cherry compote. Both meals were off the hook. We'll definitely be back. Thank you.

I had high hopes for this place, and in terms of food, it absolutely delivered. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was outstanding--fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and beautiful presentation. The ribeye was a standout, and the mashed potatoes were a perfect pairing. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the bar service. While the drinks themselves were decent, the bartender was inattentive and dismissive. It took far too long to get anyone's attention, and when we finally did, we were met with few words and nothing close to a "Have a good night" as we were leaving despite being one of two customers left at the bar. The bar staff was cleaning up the area around us as we were eating - water from the bar was splashed on my face absentmindedly as someone cleaned the area without thought. I heard two bartenders complaining about other people right in front of me and rather than providing service snapchats were made. If you're going for the food--and I highly recommend you do--you're in for a treat. Just don't expect a smooth or pleasant experience at the bar. I'd gladly return, but next time, I'll stick to table service and skip the cocktail counter

NO NO NO NO NO!!!The food is unseasoned and just plain gross. We found a bone in our Monte cristo sandwich. How does that even happen? The waitress was RUDE and never came back over except to give us our check. We should have known when we walked in and told us they didn't have high chairs or kids meals to leave right then. Upon further research this place is known for their terrible service and rude owners.

Arrived just before dinner crowd and was seated promptly. Service was quick and ambiance was fantastic. Meals are pricey but very good size. Loved the fried green tomatoes! Salad and soup was great. Baked potato came loaded though I didn't ask for it. Would have preferred just sour cream and butter on the potato, but I should have specified. Prime rib was just as ordered though the cut was slightly tougher than I would have expected. Still, I didn't leave any behind! Really enjoyed the meal for the price, but I'm coming with a bigger appetite to enjoy some of the heavier fare next time.

Terrible attitude and atmosphere, average overpriced food. Not worth it. I'd rather eat McDonalds for the rest of my life than eat here.

My wife and I visited the Appalachian Grill for our anniversary after hearing great things, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The experience including the service was fantastic from start to finish. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, and it was amazing--like a delightful mix of a meal and dessert! My wife chose the Kentucky bourbon salmon, saying it was easily the best salmon she's ever had. I also had a bite and it was delicious! We highly recommend this place for the food, the ambience, and the overall experience!

Loved this place. Great service, great food ,greatprices. Highly recommend. Went on a Saturday around 5:30 with a party of five. Place was crowded, but they were able to see us right away. Food choices were nice and varied. Calamari was excellent. Also had the house salad, 16 ounce ribeye, pan fried trout, which were all very good. No complaints at all from our party. Highly recommended.

The food is barely above institutional. Most likely Sysco. Staff is nice, but the owner treats them like crap. You can hear them being yelled at daily. Restrooms are dirty, which tells you a lot about the kitchen.

We enjoy the decor and the down home food. The portions are HUGE. And the service is also good. Our server was very sweet and helpful

So the food here is above par. I've lived in Georgia since 1986 and let me tell you that this is a come up for Cartersville. It's a lot to overcome a stigma, but this is definitely a start. My date got chicken fingers (basically) served grilled Normally he asked for it fried but all the healthy outside of it. I took the special asking for rice over potatoes. They totally delivered. There is plenty of parking in the back where gps takes you and parking in the street or across it. The bar was closed to seating due to short staffing but the main and rear dining areas were open for lunch. Enjoy the change wear people make life better. This was a mill converted. Love the history they kept and all the staff was incredibly kind.

Prime Rib medium rare was excellent so was Bourbon Salmon. Drinks good, service superb.

Back in Cartersville for business, my colleague and I couldn't resist returning to Appalachian Grill. The food and service were just as outstanding as we remembered! Audrey, our server, was incredibly attentive and made our experience even better with her excellent recommendation of the key lime pie--it was absolutely delicious. Thank you for another wonderful meal! Looking forward to our next visit!

This place has changed since COVID. Food is decent. Smoky Mountain Trout is breaded and fried. I'm not sure when that change. Service with an attitude. I had to flag the bartender down to order. She was standing right in front of me working the register and had two other customers in a corner table. I told her I was ready to order and said wait a minute and walks away. The staff has no people skills. I finished my meal and the bartender didn't offer anything else or desert. She just hands me the check. This place used to be so much better.

My wife & I arrive, put our name on the wait list. After waiting much longer than we were told the wait was, the two young girls in front skipped us, seated another party of 2 that were after us. We told them, they only said "you'll be next." After waiting much longe, they sat us in a far corner of the restaurant. We watched waiters come and go, we were not even acknowledged. After almost 15 minutes of that, we left, went to another restaurant, immediately seated and waited on. Appalachian Grill is a horrible experience.

Visited on 6/18/24 Got a Salmon Spread Appetizer and it was great Got a Pecan Crusted Chicken & was the best Chicken I have had Got Fried Catfish and it was great Our server Jaycee did an awesome job by suggesting food and giving outstanding service The music was a little different but we were at "Appalachian" Grill We will be back

This restaurant will receive a one star review from me until they get high chairs. How do you not have a single highchair for families with babies or toddlers? I spoke to the manager and her excuse was "we haven't been able to get a high chair since before lockdown" THREE YEARS?!! Amazon has multiple restaurant quality high chairs that can be delivered in one day. Apparently, they also own Ate Track across the street who does not have high chairs. Both restaurants are discriminatory towards families with small children.

Food was ok. Not very memorable. Long long wait and very hot inside. Only AC on one side. Good ambience.

Food was very good. I had the BLT and mushroom soup as an appetizer, others had a burger and Monty Christo were enjoyed. Our waitress was very pleasant kept glasses full. We seated for an early dinner, just in time. The restaurant filled up quickly ((Sat.night). Restaurant indoors was a little on the dark side. They do offer outdoor seating.

This is a really good restaurant for steak in this small area. However, recently, it was brought to my attention that their staff no longer wear masks and are also unvaccinated. Which is irresponsible of the restaurant management during this pandemic. They should at least require their staff to wear mask if they choose not to be vaccinated. If you care about your health and safety, you know where this restaurant stands, they lost a customer in me until this pandemic is resolved or they act more responsibly into considering the safety of their customers.

This place was an awesome find with Tommy, the bartenders were outstanding on recommendation and the surf and turf was great. Great price and great find!

Great little hidden gem. Visiting Lakepoint Sport facility and wanted something good. This restaurant is a short 5-6min drive away. Service was fantastic!!! Ambiance and atmosphere were nice. We had the Southern Style Catfish meal and the food was good. Next time we have a tournament, definitely heading there for lunch or dinner.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect given the location and a few negative reviews, but we were blown away! We visited on a Saturday night and was told there was a 30ish minute wait (which we totally expected), so we sat at the bar with Lauren for a few drinks before dinner. We really enjoyed the ambiance, it was perfect for date night (and we met some really great people while at the bar). Her charisma was unavoidable and so contagious ... what a sweetheart! It was evident she enjoys working there and she truly made our first visit memorable. After enjoying our time at the bar, we were seated; the dining area has a different ambiance than the bar and is a bit more relaxed and romantic (the bar is loud, lively, and fun); a good thing to keep in mind depending on the ambiance you're going for. Our server lacked the same charisma our bartender had (to be completely blunt, she was a bit dull and impersonal), but, she was nice, knowledgable of the specials/menu, and was attentive so we didn't have a negative experience with her ... just vastly contrasting from the vibrant bartender we enjoyed sitting with for the previous 45 minutes. Now, the food ... amazing! I got the Mediterranean halibut (special) and my other half got the bourbon salmon; both exceeded our expectations and we've talked about our visit - and the food - for the past two weeks since we visited. It is pricey and it is small, so be prepared for $$$ and I'd suggest making a reservation if you can. But, whether you're looking for a new date night spot or a girl's/guy's night out, the atmosphere here is just great. We enjoyed our visit so much, we're returning fior my birthday this Friday. Don't let the location (can't believe something this great is in Cartersville!) or the few negative reviews deter you ... you won't regret going!

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it was definitely a treat!!! Food was great and service was as you expected here in the South! If I had to describe this restaurant I would say it is upscale southern comfort food. Definitely will be back!

Stopped by on. Friday afternoon looking for dinner drinks. The wait time was 30 minutes so we decided to sit at bar. Let me tell you we were not at all disappointed the beer was cold and the selection was amazing! We started out with the Calamari appetizer it was the perfect amount. I ordered the Shrimp n Grits it was different it had smoked sausage and bacon bits along with the shrimp. The grits were so smooth and tasty! Definitely worth every bite was delicious! It came with 1 side I tried the buck head Chili and it was so full of flavor. Definitely worth trying again. My husband had the Jumbo Fried Shrimp and Fries it came with a side he chose the house salad it was full of greens fruit and the dressing was amazing! We finished off with the crème brûlée and that was so yummy ! I recommend this place for dinner drinks great atmosphere and magnificent servers!

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. We came to the Savoy auto museum and asked for a suggestion of where we could eat. The food here is very good. High quality and good portions as well. I had the mussels appetizer and a salad this time and it was very good. My Dad had a freshly ground burger that was full of flavor. My Mom had the bourbon salmon which was cooked to perfection. I live an hour and a half from the Appalachian Grille so I am only able to eat here if we are passing through the area. I hope you get a chance to eat here as it is worth the visit.

Used to be good. The food has really gone downhill. The staff and owners seem to not have a basic understanding of world economics OR about proper food preparation. The burger was cold and dry, not tasty at all.

Had a late lunch today for my birthday. Kelly was our waitress, who was exemplary. Our meals were out of this world!!!! One meal was the fried grouper with a crab cake and hollandaise sauce, along with rice and collard greens. My husband being a Baltimore boy, this was by far the best crab cake we've ever had outside of Baltimore. My scallops over pasta with spinach was also yummy, along with the fabulous salad and honey mustard you can get here. A purely fabulous birthday meal enjoyed by both of us. We'll be back for sure. Highly recommend to everyone!!!!

Absolutely the best!!! I love the letter in the front window. I can only hope this business can feed every one that enters with their delicious food. Get here soon. The service, the atmosphere, everything was just perfect!!

The service and food were fantastic! We had a large group of 6 plus two babies so it meant a lot to get such great service and food.

Just about the best experience you could have for a casual dining. Best service ever (we told them we were in a rush to get to a game, in and out in 40 minutes but never felt rushed by the staff). Super friendly. Food was out of this world good. Perfect temperatures on all the Prime Rib. Vegetables cooked perfectly. Just all around amazing.
