"Part of L’Heliopic hotel resort, Akashon turns out hearty, flavoursome food poised between local gastronomy and more modern fare, such as a tonnato-style tartare of veal and lobster. Untreated metal and granite set the scene in the minimalist interior, the terrace of which commands a fantastic view of the mountains." - Michelin Inspector

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is right next to the lift that takes you up to Aiguille Du Midi which was a highlight of our time in Chamonix.|We thought the family room was perfect. The styling and design was great and our girls really loved the bunk beds. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and it was easy to park in the underground car park. We really appreciated the free hot chocolates and water on tap in the foyer.|We ate breakfast at their restaurant which was adequate, but nothing amazing. |The only downside was that children could only swim in the indoor pool before 2pm and as we were out all day my children never had a chance to use it. We all would have liked a hit spa after hiking all day!

My husband, son and myself spent three nights at this hotel during the end of May. We found the location very convenient, there is even a laundromat a few steps from the hotel. The staff were super helpful with suggestions on hikes and the breakfast had a lot of choices. They also have hiking poles you can borrow which was extremely helpful. We had a family room which was very spacious, plenty of storage. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator. The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side. My biggest complaint is that the bedroom and bathroom has no ventilation. We ended up leaving the window open at night which helped and fortunately we were not facing the front of the hotel so it was fairly quiet. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The location is absolutely perfect, mountain views, shops a few minutes walk away, Gondola 2min away, it couldn’t be more central yet peaceful!the spa was wonderful, pretty calm and zen with complimentary teas. The restaurant food was divine! Waiters were so lovely and attentive. A lovely receptionist who spoke Danish was just the best, so funny and kind, she was great! A few sad points, some other reception staff need to take note of her qualities, some others appeared abrupt, did not make effort or eye contact or even smile much which let the team down. The road outside our balcony was sadly quite noisy and you can also hear other guests easily so sound proofing is not a huge plus. The ice cave was closed for 4 days with no real explanation or care which was rude given that was a real plus to the spa. There is no air con which does make a huge difference when the only air comes from the noisy road outside. It sounds silly but the bathroom steamed up in seconds and you couldn’t get rid of this which meant no mirror to get ready in and your hair steamed up beautifully for a night out. But other than those small points I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel just be cautious which room you are in if you need a cool nights sleep :0)

We travelled to the Hotel L’Heliopic as a family of two adults and one 12 year old boy.||We had a wonderful stay and wished we could have stayed longer!||Pros:|There’s not many hotels who put as much effort to all the little details as this hotel does. We received a very warm welcome from all the reception staff and our room was ready at about 1pm (earlier than the check in time). The reception areas have lots to entertain younger children such as little ride on cars, a playroom, small football table, retro arcade games - along with access to unlimited sweets! There is a games area with a giant chess set, plenty of books to read, a lovely bar and a free to use coffee machine and water refill station. There are plenty of areas to work and play, as well as a swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. You can also hire bicycles here.||We stayed in an attic room which was very spacious and had nice little touches such as a retro arcade game, cosy bunk-style beds with curtains, a seating area, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, two TVs and a lovely balcony. They also supply a decent hairdryer! The bathroom is equipped with premium toiletries. There is a small balcony - we had a side view of the mountains.||The breakfasts were amazing! Great choice, fabulous quality and very friendly staff, especially Lydie who granted us a very warm welcome throughout our stay.||It’s so convenient for both the cable car and the town with its many restaurants and bars.||Cons:|The attic room has quite a low ceiling, so for someone around 163cms, it was manageable, but my husband did struggle at around 183cms! The balcony was partially obscured by a wooden panel and the balcony chairs were not the most comfortable as they slope too far back. The hotel did not provide anything decaffeinated apart from coffee at breakfast. We found the beds a little too hard and uncomfortable as we are used to Tempur mattresses. The swimming pool has limited hours for children, which I understand, but it does make it difficult to plan swimming around sightseeing.||The cons by no means put us off the hotel and I’ve still given it 5 stars as the pros far outweigh any negatives. Just food for thought for the hotel if they wish to make slight improvements. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and Chamonix, whilst quite small is a delightful place to visit.

My lovely family and I really enjoyed this hotel. The whole ambiance of the property has a feeling of wellness and its location is fantastic, just on the outskirts of town but right next to the cable car to the Aiguille du Midi. Very nice breakfast with super friendly staff and my young son enjoyed lashings of complimentary hot chocolate! Highly recommended.

What a wonderful time we had! Stayed in the Le Gouter large apartment with 4 friends for my 40th birthday and we had an excellent stay. The apartment location is brilliant. The facilities are excellent and met all of our needs, with a well equipped kitchen and toiletries. The apartments are right next to the main hotel and the facilities there were great, with a lovely spa (although the pool was quite cold and not many changing rooms) but the best steam room I have ever been in. The hotel had a lovely complementary hot drinks station as well as popcorn and juice and sweets for the kids. It was great to have the ski hire shop in the hotel and the guys in there were really helpful and organised. Our hot tub was lovely and hot with great views of the mountains. Our apartment also had a small sauna, as well as access to a shared boot room. Close to local bars and restaurants and right next to the Aiguille du Midi cable car. We visited the Frometon restaurant on our first night and that was also very good. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

My kids favorite hotel ever.||From the bikes in the lobby to the bunk beds and video games in the room, my kids (7 and 10) LOVED this hotel. We booked an attic family suite for two nights and there were so many well thought out details to support families on vacation - candy and juice boxes in the kids area, chessboard and other games available, water and coffee available everywhere, popcorn one evening, a video game console in our room, bunk beds with curtains, a shelf and their own reading light. They couldn’t stop talking about it. ||My husband and I really liked the breakfast in your room option - for 2 Euros more per person, we preordered the night before and had it delivered at a selected time the next day. It is SO MUCH Food. We 100% over ordered our first morning, but it was nice to have leftovers for the rest of the trip. ||The location was very convenient and easily walkable. The train to the glacier and the alpine roller coaster were a quick 15/20 minute walk from the hotel. We walked to all activities and meals during our stay. ||Now here’s the rub - one of the biggest reasons we booked this hotel was for the pool. And from prior reviews, we knew it was open from 10-2 for kids. What I didn’t appreciate (and yes it’s sort of stated in one of the several confirmation emails you get) is that because check-in is at 4, kids can’t use the pool the day you check-in. They will not let you access it early while you wait for your room. And checkout is at 12, so you can only use the pool 10-12 on your checkout day. Take this into account when planning your activities. ||The Spa facilities are so nice (and I take no issue with the no kids rule, I enjoyed a few kid free moments there this week and it was so nice) two steam rooms, hot tub, pool, cold plunge, cold/ice room and shower facilities. Robes and slippers are in your room, so it made the walk from your room to the pool very comfortable. ||Staff - I am going to chalk this one up to cultural differences. I, and several other Americans we spoke to while there, found the staff to be cold and not overly friendly. I know that’s very much the European way. But I did cringe every time I had to ask the front desk staff for anything because it seemed like I was bothering them. They do, however, speak numerous languages, which I thought was very cool. ||Parents take on the attic family rooms - two nights was enough. I hit my head enough times and showering without standing up in the bathtub was annoying. The room temp was very warm with little air circulation, so we slept with the patio door open both nights. The toilet broke the first night and they were very quick to fix it, which I appreciated. ||Overall, I would love to come back but I would select another room with bunkbeds and a roof that isn’t sloped. We really enjoyed our time in Chom!
