Akashon

"Part of L’Heliopic hotel resort, Akashon turns out hearty, flavoursome food poised between local gastronomy and more modern fare, such as a tonnato-style tartare of veal and lobster. Untreated metal and granite set the scene in the minimalist interior, the terrace of which commands a fantastic view of the mountains." - Michelin Inspector

Good location near bus station and near midi station to catch cable car. And not a far walk into their town. We were on the top floor where it is angled. The bedroom was fine, nice view out of our window, bed was great. Thermostat for heat was easy to use. ||What we did not like was the shower. Because of the angle, the ceiling is low right at the shower head. I'm only 5'2" and could barely wash my hair. My husband who is 5'11" had a hard time bending to wash his hair. And the glass door is very small so water spills out. You get bathrobes and slippers for the spa area. The whirlpool is jus warm, needed to be hotter, but still nice to use. Nice pool, people were doing laps. I just dipped before whirlpool. ||The bar was nice, lots of sofas to sit on and they'd bring you your drink. The breakfast wasn't good, watery eggs and coffee just doesn't taste good from those machines. Make reservations thru the room phone for Akashon restaurant, food is unique and VERY good. You can make reservations ahead of time on website, but we wanted 7pm and it said it was not available. I called thru the room phone and got 7pm with no problem, same day. We didn't like the food from the other restaurant. I had grilled shrimp with yellow squash spaghetti that tasted bad and made me sick. But other people were getting some cheese melting meal that seemed to be popular.

I would give this hotel a rating of 4.5, I thought it was in a great location right next to the Téléphérique Aiguille du Midi attraction. The hotel is within walking distance to all the restaurants. The spa was amazing and a must do if you are visiting. The spa has a cold room with actual snow. They have free coffee and water available in the lobby. You must call to reserve parking ahead of time. This was a bummer for us as we didn’t know, but lots of parking across the street. The room was modern but nothing special. That being said, our daughter loved it due to the bunk beds. Overall, I would stay here again if I came back.

A perfect hotel for the adventurer! The front desk staff was very accommodating and went the extra mile by putting my bags in my room before it was even ready. The extras of a coffee bar and sparking water station plus a temporary gelato station were also pleasant surprises. Plus, it was pleasantly quiet outside so you could leave the balcony door open to sleep, a big bonus compared to comparable hotels nearby.

Overall/mostly great. Bed was comfy, style is tasteful and fun, service was top and breakfast excellent. Spa is really lovely (although the massages/treatments were on the expensive side so I didn’t try). |Two annoyances are lack of hanging option for hand towels - you end up having to just lay/stuff them on the surface between the sink and wall which isn’t great;|and lack of air con in the rooms - during our stay it was 30C, which I appreciate is a heatwave for Chamonix, but these do happen and it meant a sleepless and sweaty night as there’s no option to increase ventilation or cool the room. In the winter I’m sure it’s lovely, but in the summer you will be hot if the weather is.

My husband and I stayed for seven nights to do daily hikes in Mont Blanc. It has been scorching hot in Chamonix. My room faced the afternoon sun and there is no air-conditioning in the room. It was miserable to sleep at night in the heat. ||One morning I inquired a direction to Les Houches to a staff member. He said I can take the train or the bus to the gondola station. To reconfirm I asked again. Rita at the front desk said train will not get me directly to the gondola station to start the Mont Blanc Tour and suggested to take the bus. |All of a sudden the front desk manager advanced towards me hastily and verbally attacked me for NO REASON!! I want to know WHY?? I was completely shock!! It was unprofessional and unacceptable behavior to a guest at your hotel. I was beyond upset. Even the staff members were shocked. Rita apologized for his insane behavior. |The manager has been rude, impolite and unfriendly. || Foods in the mountain seems to be a bit salty and very sensitive to it. I asked for a recommendation a night before to the manager. He praised a restaurant called "Bize" My husband and I visited the restaurant. we had a delectable dinner and enjoyed it very much. I was planning to thank him but that morning as I was ready to leave to Les Housches he insulted and yelled at me. I have traveled around the world and have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life. It's truly despicable. Is this how a manger treat their guests??

We enjoyed our stay in Chamonix at the Heliopic spa and hotel. I had booked the Emmeline apartment which did not include breakfast and my friend booked an attic room with breakfast. Both options were excellent. Our room was on the ground floor facing the street so got woken up two nights by some loud music from somewhere. However the apartment was large. There is a big bed in the room with a large sofa bed outside. A family will be very comfortable. We were two friends sharing. The privacy for the bedroom was limited as the door could not close due to the big bed which I found odd. The toilet , bathroom were separate. There was a fully equipped kitchen with washer dryer and dishwasher which was very convenient. The entry to the hotel is large and we enjoyed the complimentary coffee and hot chocolate every day. There is a nice area for the guests to relax. It’s wonderful to come back to the free spa after a long hike. It is situated very close to the centre of town and all the shops and restaurants are at walking distance. It’s 5 mins walk to the bus stop. We took a taxi transfer to the station and airport. I found it to be an excellent accommodation for hiking and relaxing. The service staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was the 4th hotel on a Rick Steves tour. It's billed as a luxury hotel. I'd say yes if it had air conditioning. AC pulls humidity out of the air... in late August it felt muggy. We opened our patio door while awake and in the room but closed and locked it to sleep. It had elevators and in room coffee. The breakfast was on par with other hotels. The pool restrictions for children seem unfair... just make it 16 and up for all hotel guests...

The hotel is ok, but not for families with kids. Pool is only open for kids 10-14 which makes it inaccessible for families. Other than that breakfast is not good, very industrial - if you are into a practical hotel with basic food its ok, but dont expect anything more.
