The 16 Best Restaurants Near Lake Chelan 2024

"If you’re looking for a breakfast spot after a loop around the riverwalk, Apple Cup Cafe is the place. They have great cottage cheese pancakes, omelets, and breakfast burritos, all of which will put you in the mood to do nothing but lay out by the lake all day. They’re open until 8pm, so it’s also a solid choice for a late lunch or early dinner when you’ve gone to the Drive-In too many times." - carlo mantuano, emily burks

Google
Great breakfast 🤤!!! One of the best places to get breakfast and the best in Chelan. Unfortunately, the old building burned down and they are in a temporary location that is an office building, but same great service and food.😁

Tyler Allen

Google
New spot is awesome. Outdoor seating overlooking our beautiful riverwalk.

Brittany Lealao

Google
The old location burned down, new location heart of downtown Chelan. If you’re googling directions, it will take you to the newer location. Quality of their breakfast was great and portion size was huge. Service was great as they were very busy. Smaller location so get there early to beat the long line.

Google
Horrible service and was disappointed. I was very excited to come here and try the food. After placing our orders my chicken fried steak had this weird taste and the green beans were soggy and just didn't taste right. My server was okay until I walked up and returned my food and apologized but something just doesn't taste right. The lady Krystal took my plate rolled her eyes and said I will give you another menu with a terrible attitude. That did it for me and I didn't order anything else. The rest of the food was mediocre. I was more disappointed in the service than anything just plain rude! We come to Chelan alot and this was our first visit to this restaurant which we were referred by the hotel staff. It ruined my day as I didn't feel like eating after.

Google
They grill their english muffins which give a nice crunch and look. Their chicken fried steak is just average, a little tough and not very crunchy. Gravy is just blah with some pepper, hashbrowns were crunchy not oily or over cooked. Minced ham and eggs was good and flavorable. Food was for the price just average. Honestly you might as well drive a bit further to Blueberry Hills as their same breakfasts were awesome. Sadly closed mon and tuesday so gave Apple Cup Cafe a try. Very nice service. Building is old and has a certain smell. Could use a good remodel / cleaning. Sit in the back, that is much better than the front which is cold during this fall as only 25 degrees and you could smell disinfectant from the bathrooms right there.

Google
It seems that this cafe’s original location/building got burned down and they are in a temporary location that only allows to eat outside it take out. Great food and very friendly service.

Google
We're back at the Apple Cup again. We couldn't talk..music so loud. They turned it down. We really appreciated it. Thank you. We'll be back for their great food and service.

Google
Breakfast all day! Popular with the locals, service is very good and so is the food. Extensive breakfast and lunch menus, good prices. Dinner is good, too. There's a bar as well. Cozy, with knotty pine paneling. We stop here every time we're in Chelan.

Yelp
Amazing food, huge portions. Get a meal to share. Beautiful views of the river. Service is quick and friendly.

Yelp
We were excited to try the Apple Cup at its new location. We arrived about 8:30am and were the only ones in line. We were ignored for a good 5 minutes before a server acknowledged we were there and seated us. The space is clean, which we appreciate given the age of the old building. While the new space is nice, it is very noisy. The food was bland and basic. Cookie cutter like they had everything ready and threw it together to save time. Again, another Chelan restaurant that we wanted to love but fell very short of being good. There are better choices in the area.

Yelp
This place is a damn good breakfast spot! My wife, daughter and I stopped by here this morning after a wonderful four day Labor Day vacation at Campbells. This is our third time eating breakfast here. My daughter had biscuits and gravy and my wife and I split the apple cup scramble. Big portions! Our scramble was perfect. Lots of meat and cheese. Hot. Fresh. Fast. Probably closer to a five star in terms of getting an awesome breakfast but our waiter and waitress were kind of cold. Like they didn't want to be working. But WTH, who really wants to work? The biscuit was the bomb! Go here!

Yelp
Haven't been to this place in YEARS and went back out of nostalgia. It was okay, but didn't blow my mind like I had remembered from the past. My hubs did the chicken fried steak and it was completely unsalted. He added salt and it was okay. I did the 1/2 Bob which was still a huge portion and the biscuit was really fluffy. My hashbrowns were pretty flaccid and not browned at all which I didn't love, but it was also an okay dish. One other person in our party ordered the blueberry pancakes which were nice and fluffy - portion size on those was insane!!! There usually is a wait here on weekends especially in summer, but I noticed they opened a new bar area that was open in the morning - if your party is 21+ you can totally grab breakfast in there to skip the main dining room line. In general, there aren't many breakfast spots especially open year-round in this area. It's not a bad choice, but blueberry hills is my current favorite.

Yelp
Another great meal from a summer fishing trip for King salmon on the Columbia River. This was a flash back to the good old days. Set up in the bar with a proper drink. Rib steak medium rare, loaded baked potato with whipped butter, asparagus and an old school roll. Steak was covered in buttery love.

Yelp
Can't beat this restaurant for a solid breakfast. Greek omelet was filled with veggies and feta cheese. It was not greasy but rather on the dry side. The spinach was still a bit crispy and not a soggy mess. Prompt service even on a Sunday morning. Enjoy!

Yelp
It is your typical American diner. Nothing too outstanding from what I got on the menu. I got the steak and eggs and the country fried steak. Service was super friendly and fast. Reminded of a Dennys type of diner but small town charm.

Yelp
March 2022 Update After giving Apple Cup a few more tries, I'm happy to say that my experiences have certainly improved and I've been very happy with the quality of food and service. The prices are a little high and that lowers the overall value for me. I'll be back.

Yelp
This is a great breakfast restaurant. I would definitely try for other meals based on the great breakfast food. There is a bar area as well that I did not enter, but that might be a great option if having to wait for a table. It was peak breakfast time when we arrived so waited just a few minutes for our table. The food was great, I had a scramble, friends had other staples that looked great also. Perfect portions and reasonable prices, coffee and water glass kept full which is always appreciated. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
We stopped in on our trip to Lake Chelan. This restaurant has a large menu, we ate breakfast? Great food and service.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Have been here several times and it's great diner style food. Every time we come into town someone in the family stops by, usually for breakfast but sometimes for lunch and drinks. All of the staff seems nice and the food usually comes out quickly. This time around I got the eggs Benny with sausage and one order to go. I wish the hashbrowns were booked more but other than that pretty good and fast for a busy Sunday.

Yelp
One of our go tos on the out skirts of downtown Chelan. Favorites include the clubhouse sandwich (add Swiss cheese), their amazing homemade potato salad (baby reds make it the best!), Bloody Mary's (+$1.50 for a double), burgers, chicken fried steak, etc. The staff are all hard working and hustle to take your order and get your food out. It's a classic Americana diner with experienced staff that feels organized and clean. Stop by for a cup of coffee and some cottage cheese pancakes or lingonberry crepes!

Yelp
One of the gems of the Chelan breakfast scene. A traditional breakfast menu where they do everything right. Service is fast and friendly - our food came out shockingly fast. Prices are fair and it definitely feels like a place the locals enjoy. Will happily dine here again.

Yelp
Somehow the Apple Cup lost its charm...... - gone are the giant breakfasts - the pancakes and waffles used to come with 2 large eggs, now just 1 small egg. A second is available for 2.99 more. (See photos from previous visits compared to this visit. - I watched other breakfasts being served, all were smaller - the wait staff used to be charming, full of energy, and engaging. This morning, Saturday at 945am they were like robots (restaurant about half full) - the whole meal was very uninspiring, Apple Cup used to have "energy" on the weekend. I love small town America, the charm that many cafes and local stores have. I like to support them. - the waffle was good, the tiny egg was cooked correctly, the sausages were fine. - the staff, as I said, were robotic WAKE UP Apple Cup, get your charm back, or I will not be back.

Yelp
Great little diner just when you are driving into Chelan. Hopping place! You will find lots of locals here and repeat customers! Ordered the Big Daddy Omelette. Packed with lots of meat and cheese. Your choice of pancakes or hash browns and toast! Lots of food! The omelette was good and filling but the onions and green peppers not sautéed and were crunchy. Other thing they could have done better serving our food. 3 of us got our food right away and our 4th person had to wait over 5 more minutes. I hate this because we won't touch our food until everyone in our party is served. At least bring them something! It's just not the correct way to serve a small group. Otherwise great service!
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Ordered the grilled chicken dinner with vegetables. Chicken was fine, but the vegetable was canned corn. Personally, I don't think this qualifies as a vegetable. See photo. I don't think that a whole lot of effort went into it. Honestly, this is just a cafe so I should have stuck with something more standard like a BLT or an omelette. The rest of our food was ok. Not great. Fooled by the 4-star rating. This is a 2.5-3 star cafe at best.

Yelp
When you think of the best breakfast you have ever had anywhere, this will be in the top 5. A locally owned spot that does everything right. On our most recent trip, we had fantastic burgers there with fries so fresh you had to be careful eating them so you did not burn your mouth. On our last day, a few days later, we stopped in for breakfast before heading home. We should have split the breakfast burrito because each half was a full breakfast. The huevos rancheros where served on corn tacos and very good. Service was fast and efficient and tables were appropriately blocked off for social distancing.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
It's your typical diner far with friendly service. We had the breakfast and it was decent
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Not a lot of places to eat or drink "up the hill from downtown" so this was the closest to our hotel within easy walking distance (mom has two bad knees). Food was just alright. Omelette was tasty. Prices are reasonable. The bar side, drinks are cheap, specially if you're coming from a big city. Go early, bar and cafe close at 8pm.
google avatar

Adelie S.

Yelp
Cute, rustic diner with a cozy vibe. Food was decent but mediocre at best. Portion sizes were good and you'll definitely leave feeling full. Service was also prompt albeit hurried because the place is often busy and they seem understaffed. There wasn't one real standout dish we could pinpoint but the pancakes is probably a safe option.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is below the bottom of the barrel. Want some microwaved bacon that's been microwaved a billion times? Come here. Wanna order your eggs over medium and have them come out with the whites runny and heavily undercooked? Come here. Read good reviews but you wanna meet the meanest waitress possible who slams plates and spills food all over the floor and gives your table nasty looks when you mention how the eggs are severely undercooked? Come here. I don't recommend this place to anyone and I suggest you go ANYWHERE else.
google avatar

Rebecca-Jared J.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was decent. I ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs can overdone. Other than that, all was good.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
We've been going here since the '80's. The food and ambiance is what you would expect from a classic American diner - hubs loves their Reuben, their omelettes, and I like their pancake breakfasts or the fish and chips. Service is prompt unless you're in Chelan on a holiday weekend.
google avatar

Patricia V.

Yelp
My husband and I came to this restaurant twice! I had the oriental salad(I prefer grilled chicken and the dressing on the side). My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Nice staff, good food and very filling plates. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
We always visit every year when we come to the Lake Chelan, today the service was awful, the 2 ladies who interacted with us didn't even give us a smile, food was ok, but they didn't ask if we needed something else, my husband had to get up from the table to look for the waitress to ask for the check, also, we had ours kids, but it seemed like the don't like kids at all, I don't think we will come back to this place.
google avatar

Shari S.

Yelp
Great cafe!! Big menu, delicious food, and smiling staff. Definitely recommend this cafe.
google avatar

Joupi J.

Yelp
The best in town for sure. Make sure you try their orange juice. Good Customer service I'll recommend this place.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Sub par food paired with bad service. Gave this place a couple of times to get it right but it always falls short and leaves us disappointed. It's a shame they can't get their act together and just do a few things right. Never going back. Shame.

Yelp
I've been coming to Chelan for a few years now and I don't know what took me so long to get here for breakfast but OMG is it good !! I had the Eggs Bearnaise and it was insanely good . Everything came out in a reasonable time and the waitresses were on it . Constantly checking on people keeping our cups full of coffee and just sweet girls . I'll be in town for 4 days and I've officially decided I will be having breakfast here all 4 days .

Unhappy V.

Yelp
Rude! Very rude! Went there for breakfast this morning. Because there were two places everyone suggests when looking for breakfast in town. We walked in, got seated in a dark bar looking area. It must be their overflow dining area. They saw that we had our puppy with us. Waitress asked us what we would like to drink, I ordered coffee. She brought my coffee and she took our food order. I started sipping my coffee. She then came and said -I am sorry, we don't allow dogs in here unless they are a service animal! You'll have to sit outside. Oh ok!!! We were like fine, we will sit outside. We walked out. There are 3 tables outside. Trucks passing. Busy road. Dusty, loud. I continue to drink my coffee. No one comes and checks on us. 20 minutes goes by and still nothing. Finally, a girl pokes her head out the door and says -your food is ready at the counter. My husband and I looked at each Other like WTF!!! We have to bring our own food out?!? He went inside, just to be told. We don't serve food outside. Our food was packed to go. What a customer service!!! We were speechless. I would've just left the food there and walk out but my husband paid for it. We just left. Went and ate at the Blueberry Farm. Where we were treated better and our dog was welcomed.

Yelp
Came to town for a small vacation and it was the only place we felt like they would have breakfast of our choice. Pancakes were amazing, french toast great. tried the egg bennett first time ever and it was great. My son loved the burger. Big daddy omelette with hasbrowns were great as well. Such a great experience we had tocome back the next day. LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY LET MY SON PUT HIS COLORED PAPER ON THEY'RE FRONT DESK.
google avatar

H L.

Yelp
A truck stop in the middle of a desert is better than this place! We were there for breakfast today (Jun 11 2021 around noon). The waitress can't be more rude! My daughter order crispy hash brown potatoes and it took three times and were still soft! It took longer to get the check than the whole ordering, eating time... I asked another waitress for our check because ours was missing in action... Never again...
google avatar

Kash Y.

Yelp
I've heard a lot about this restaurant and got what I expected when I came. The food was just like any breakfast. No complaints though. Best part of the restaurant was the service and wait to get seated. Would probably not come again but definitely a must try if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
1.5 stars. Update: my vegetarian friend got a veggie omelet and there was bacon in it :( sad... It's the only brunch place in chelan that can hold large groups pretty much. We always end up here after our annual trip with a group of 16. Food is mediocre but it's something. The eggs bernaise sauce is kind of tasteless and fatty. They also served us burnt toast to see if we would eat it pretty much, but didn't give us trouble when we asked for non burnt ones. There are flies everywhere and kept bothering us as we try to eat. My boyfriend also found hair in his chicken fried steak but it was past the point of doing something about it so it's whatever. If you have a smaller party there is definitely better options in town.
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
The service is excellent and this diner appears to be a very popular breakfast hang out. The hash browns and toast were barely warm which was strange. Medium well poached eggs perfect and hot. Coffee was not drinkable. Hot oatmeal with blueberries was good. Not impressive enough to return.
google avatar

Tynequa B.

Yelp
Service .. amazing !!! From the host, to the waitress, to the lady that kept coming by pouring us water & she wasn't our server. The food is good, these fries taste like no other. Thank you for the great service at this clean diner, I'll be back when I'm in town to visit.

Sonja M.

Yelp
Food was okay- customer service was awful. Prior to entering the restaurant my 4 year old had taken a huge fall- he was bleeding and had a huge goose egg and cut on his forehead (we walked from our hotel). He was okay but hurt for a little guy. I asked if perhaps they had bandaids, she was able to find me one- I asked for some ice for his forehead and they gave me a rectangle hard frozen pack that you would like put in a cooler- they didn't give me something to wrap it in. Like I can apply that to a goose egg gash...I understand it isn't there job- but human decency. We had no napkins or silverware we had to ask multiple times for them and napkins Food was slow and some food dishes were cold. Kids got the kids meal and drinks were $2.50 with that. They charged $4 for each juice so I asked about it and the person who did not take or deliver our drink orders argued with me about the juice the kids ordered. They didn't clean up our plates, or offer to help with spills or offer to heat up cold food. Overall it was not a good experience. Our waitress was put off every time we asked for anything- like napkins and silverware. Too bad.

Yelp
Awesome traditional breakfast diner. Great service, solid food. Lots of choices on menu and the prices are right.

Yelp
Best, uh, only(?) all around greasy spoon (not a bad thing) diner in Chelan. Breakfast, great. Lunch great. Dinner, same, great, with daily specials. All is good and tasty and the help is too... lol, friendly! Can't wait to see the results of the remodel...

Ali M.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. I come to lake chelan for my birthday and I walk in today at 8am in the morning (writing this at 8:30) and I came with my family (two teenagers and a baby) this lady who is short and Hispanic came to "greet us" (not even saying Goodmorning) and made us sit IN THE BAR!! AT 8AM WITH KIDS. She didn't even ask us what to drink just ran around. I left 3 mins after being seated in the bar. I asked her why and she said because she no longer had space in the other area for family. She also tried to explain to me in Spanish and English why we couldn't sit. In the family area (very wrong in both languages) won't be coming back I didn't even get to eat. I felt discriminated because one the bar and two lonely by my own culture. Will possibly report to there manger.

Yelp
This is a great little cafe to have breakfast. First of all, everything we tried there was done very well and delicious. Second, the staff was very nice, professional and did a great job with a large crowd EVERY DAY we were there. This is exactly the kind of "mom and pop" restaurant we like to eat at. Great job, Apple Cup Cafe!
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Best All-American comfort food in downtown Chelan. I LOVE their private little tucked away adult-only bar section for almost a kinda VIP quiet feel - probably one of my favorite spots in Chelan to just sit and chill taking in some soul warming food and drink. And their double mimosas in a pint glass are EVERYTHING! Also such amazing friendly owners!
google avatar

Mardine C.

Yelp
Food was edible but just barely. Veal cutlet was tasteless, mashed potatoes lumpy and asparagus undercooked. Split pea soup was okay when salt was added. I would not eat there again. Sorry I can't recommend it
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
A decent restaurant. I've been here numerous times throughout the past several years. We've come for breakfast and lunch. The portions are big and tasty. The staff are friendly enough. It seems to be the typical greasy spoon that could be a little more consistent. Today we got a variety of things. I got a grilled chicken breast with some streamed broccoli and I was pleased with the good flavor. My boyfriend got the cheese burger with fries. He liked it and commented that he preferred the lunches here to breakfast. My daughter got the French toast with eggs and bacon. Her opinion was that it seemed middle of the road. Not bad, not anything to write home about. It's not my first choice in Chelan but I'd come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and awesome food. Was in town for a few days and ate here twice. There is several choices in area but this place was friendly and welcoming which made me want to return.

Yelp
This review is from one single visit. Was in town for a few days golfing with some buddies on a mini golf vacation from Western Washington. One of the guys I was with owns a place right on the river over there and recommended this café for our get out of town breakfast on the last day. Breakfast is one of those simple meals that even I as a bachelor can knockout of the ballpark. I can fry up a batch of taters and no problem here simply frying bacon cooking sausage scrambling some eggs or frying eggs and serving biscuits or toast or pancakes or whatever. It's such a basic simple meal to prepare and either you can make it properly with good food and good ingredients or you cannot. Quality fresh ingredients and an attentive semiskilled cook is all that's needed. This is a case of this café / diner serves really low quality food with below par cooks in the kitchen. I ordered the 'standard breakfast' which I'm pretty sure was priced at around $11 on the menu. Not cheap not super expensive but I expected so much better than what was on the plate served to me. The scrambled eggs were very non spectacular, the hashbrowns were served well done crispy as I asked but it was obvious they were just plain old frozen hashbrowns out of a bag. Why any independent privately owned diner doesn't also offer fried breakfast potatoes as an option to hash browns is just beyond me. They are so cheap and so easy to prepare and season properly and are 1000 times better that even the best frozen bag of hashbrowns you could purchase. The biggest disappointment was the two sausage patties on my plate...oh my God. They were approximately 1/8 of an inch thick and were of the cheapest most generic quality of institutionalized sausage patties available on the open market for diners to purchase. They looked sad they tasted even more pathetic than they looked. Do Not order sausage patties at this diner. The toast was served cold. And there were flies and other flying insects little gnats everywhere throughout the restaurant. The only reason I gave them one star beyond minimum was our server was very prompt and took care of us quite well. The booths were so tiny as if they were designed for four grade school kids to sit at, not 4 grown men. I'm quite sure any Dennys - anywhere USA could've served a better breakfast. which is such a slap in the face to a small independently owned breakfast diner

Yelp
Love the Apple Cup Cafe. Great food, great prices, awesome people. We've always had a great experience and will continue to return. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Had a family dinner here on a Saturday night. Our service was very prompt and the meals were all delivered at the same time which was nice especially since our party of six ordered many different types of foods( appetizer entree, breakfast meal, pasta, and fried food). We had a drink spill and the waitress was so nice and made the child in our group not feel self conscious about it. Everything was very good. Holding back the 5th star only because I found it slightly pricey for diner food. It is a high tourist area so all the restaurants are more expensive in the Lake Chelan area. There were nightly menu specials but we did not order any.

Yelp
They don't take Covid protocols seriously here. A group of us went here for breakfast. One person stayed in the waiting area while the rest of us waited outside in the parking lot because no one was wearing g masks. We were seated in a back room which was well spaced, but elsewhere it was packed. The person in our group that waited inside came down with Covid 4 days later. O one else did and we had been quarantined together before, and he was only at his home afterwards. I can't say positively that he got it here, it was the only place we went, and at the ti e we had second thoughts, should have trusted our gut. Everyone vaccinated, he got pretty sick, and his wife 4 days after he did. The rest of us confirmed negative with home tests and PCR testing after he let us know. Oh, and they screwed up two of our orders, and took forever to get a cup of coffee, they seemed short handed, probably were. Still good food, I'd recommend take out.
