Small shop, hot coffee, THE BEST doughnuts and soo many to choose from. I'm always greeted at the door from the ladies behind the counter. The caramel butter cream is my go to, the cherry and apple fritters are also delicious! Definitely stop in if you're looking for something sweet!

Chocolate frosted donut not pictured because I literally couldn't wait to eat it - I cannot believe how moist these were at 12:30 pm on a Sunday. Shocked by how many donuts were left 1.5 hrs before close considering they were amazing. Young woman serving us was very sweet! $4.35 for three donuts? Absolute insanity - haven't seen prices this cheap in years.

Found this gem last weekend! We live a little more than an hour from Ferndale but my husband saw a TikTok about the shop and the man loves a fritter so a spontaneous roadtrip ensued! I am so glad he saw that TikTok! The place itself is in a strip of stores and while not much to look at who cares! The sweets were amazing and the service beyond expectations! It was busy when we got there but service was quick and efficient. Something to know is I never, never eat doughnuts or fritters. Have never liked them. What I now know is I don’t like bad doughnuts because these were all delicious and now I’m a huge fan! We ordered several different kinds of fritters - apple, maple bacon, raspberry and blueberry. Also got two scones - blueberry and orange cranberry. Blueberry fritter was my husband’s favorite and the raspberry was mine. Both of the scones were perfect in taste, texture and sweetness. The staff person helping us was so friendly and welcoming and when she found out how far we drive she added a bag of four of their popular doughnut flavors for free. Very kind. They were yummy! I tried to get pictures of everything but we didn’t make it out of the parking lot before several were gone!! Highly recommend this place both for food and service. We are already planning our next trip in a couple of weeks.

Heavenly donuts in so many flavors! the classic apple fritter was unbelievably crisp and fresh. The iced coffee is also delicious. the lady at the register was soo sweet and even gave us a couple extra donuts because it was our first time in. amazing little shop!!!! :-)

Apple Fritter Donut shop has the best apple fritter donuts and variety of delicious donuts in all of Metro Detroit. They also open very early and the staff is extremely helpful, friendly and FAST. I use them frequently for work meetings and everyone is always satisfied. I'll definitely be back!

This is probably my favorite donut shop! I love coming here for paczkis but they have a huge variety and everything I've tried has been delicious. They also have coffee which I appreciate being on the menu. Highly recommend

Very friendly employees and really good donuts!! I got a maple walnut apple fritter and it was super good: it tasted like it had real maple syrup in it, and the walnut topping was very generous. When you get out of your car you can smell the donuts...

What a great neighborhood spot! I've come in several times to get some fritters and donuts and anything that looks good. I have yet to have anything from here that wasn't amazing. The folks at the counter are really helpful and always willing to check in the back to see if a fresh batch is coming out if you ask. It is small, which means it gets crowded easily. They also can run out, which is not surprising given how good everything is.

We stopped in to try this place off their name alone. We have been on the hunt for good fritters for weeks. All the donut shops serve "apple filled donuts" not true fritters. We were greeted immediately and she was very friendly. Starting my visit out the right way. we got regular fritters and then a maple fritter. These are legit fritters and boy are they good!! Sooooo good in fact I made sure to tip the person serving us. excellent fritters and they have made me a permanent customer

Trying their maple bacon fritter that they are known for! They were out! But she worked her manic and went in the back and brought me one out! Super friendly local people and so I sat at counter and enjoyed the delicious fritter!

Found this donut shop tagging along with another parent during our daughter's hockey trip. Ran over before a game and grabbed a couple of things and let me tell you this place did not disappoint! Where we live there are not really any traditional donut shops, you almost get used to Dunkies if you you're craving a donut. This is the type of place I miss. Amazing selection of fresh donuts, I went with their maple glazed apple fritter and a maple sour cream. Literally out of this world. Grabbed a donut for my wife and she was raving about how amazing it was. Everyone working the counters were friendly and helpful. Even had a few small tables inside if you want to grab a coffee and sit. I highly recommend going out of your way to give this donut shop a try!

I live about 30 miles away from this donut shop, and every single bite is worth the drive! I stopped in today after calling first to make sure they had cherry fritters - my mom's favorite. The woman who answered the phone was super welcoming, told me they were just going in the fryer and she'd box some up for me for pickup. When I arrived, I was greeted almost immediately (there was already a line at 6:30am). I recognized the woman from the phones voice. True to form, my box was ready & waiting, I paid and was on my way! OMG! I waited til I arrived at work to dig in. Sooo good! Crisp and sweet glazed outer layer, soft cherry inside. Truly the best I've found and they have so many variations! A great family owned place in a tiny strip mall in Ferndale. Highly recommend!

No sign saying an item was not a donut. Got charged ridiculous prices for donuts $16 for six donuts. Rude nasty owner. Go somewhere else. Vasi's is better and much cheaper.

This is our go-to spot for donuts -- Not only is it a quick drive from our house, but they also have a great product! They have so many flavors of donuts here, including the classics like glazed donuts, long johns, and apple fritters, as well as uniquely flavored donuts like fruity pebble and maple bacon. They also have coffee available, as well as a variety of cold drinks. Everything is priced fairly, and the service is always fast. I don't have donuts all too often, but whenever I make a stop here, I'm never disappointed. I'll need to visit again soon!

Wow! This donut shop needs to be added to your next visit to Ferndale. Especially if you haven't been already! The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, reminds me an old school donut spot inside w the "regulars" that stop in for their daily coffee and donut fix! The selection of donuts is out of this world - from unique and classic flavors to specialty donuts and fritters in every imaginable flavor. Every bite is a burst of deliciousness! If you're a donut lover, this place is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough! Truly a fritter / donut paradise!

The sweetest ladies work here at 5 am! I ordered fresh fritters and cinnamon rolls! Yum ! Since it was my first visit, they threw in a free donut from the back case.

EXCELLENT. Like New York bagel but for donuts. Traditional , fast , efficient and delicious. Wish I could give 10 stars. Asked if it was my first time and gave me a fritter because it was! Amazing staff and better donuts. Cannot recommend enough!

They had the best selection and variety of fritters, we have ever seen! They were a little too sweet for us, a little too heavy on the glaze, and not as crispy on the outside as we would've liked the cherry ones should've used at least some kind of Dried cherries, not just flavoring

Delicious, very fresh donuts with so many flavors to choose from! The cinnamon roll and the maple walnut apple fritter were the best, but all were good! The service was amazing, so helpful and friendly! Would highly recommend!

I stopped by the Apple Fritter Donut Shop because of the reviews on Yelp. I do have a favorite doughnut shop, but I now live way on the other side of town and their hours are very short, especially since they close when they run out. So, I decided to come here just to check it out; I didn't really "need" the doughnuts. Well, I was VERY impressed. Lots of different varieties, so it was hard to choose. I ended up with a Long John and, because of the shop's name, I felt obligated to get an apple fritter. Both were delicious. Nice and a little crispy on the outside and nicely filled on the inside -- exactly how I like them. So much better than the doughnuts at the chain places. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

Fabulous donuts. Great service with a smile. The donuts were fresh and flavorful. I went there before work since the hours are super convenient for easy shifts. No where is open at 5am! I was grateful they were. I will for sure be back. There is a sitting area for counters sitting or a few tables. I sat there for a bit enjoying my coffee watching the news. Great place and I'll be back.

Not sure how everyone is giving this place 5 stars, but I've had plenty of donuts and fritters - this place is only OK. The donuts barely have any topping or flavor and the dough recipe just isn't the best. You can tell the donut filling is out of a can. Fritters over done. If you want a good donut then I'd recommend Donut Cutter, which is down the street. For the best cake donut, hands-down Donut Bar in Southfield. For the best Fritter, not here. Just not this place. Nice people inside, but for the price you pay this place should be right on point.

I did not get a chance to try the food here. When I walked in I was not greeted. The worker made eye contact, grabbed her phone and started texting. 2 ladies walked in after me received a greeting and an explanation of the menu. I personally refuse to spend money with poor customer service, however the shop came recommended and could have been a bad day. Regards, the experience was enough for me not want to visit again.

You won't be surprised by the fact that the very best thing they make here are their -wait for it - Apple Fritters! ;-) Over and above their signature donut, there are a host of other flavors and types of donuts available. AFDS is a small store-front located in a strip mall, so keep your eyes peeled as you approach or you might miss it; make a point of finding it though, as their donuts are worth the extra trouble :-)

Oh my gosh I had a chocolate donut with roasted coconut on it and it had a cream of somekind in between the donut and the roasted coconut. It was the best donut I have ever had. Thank you so much. I'm from Salvation Army in Southfield.

Found out about this place from NewsRadio 950 when reporter Charlie Langton stopped by. His report indicated that the shop was popular with Detroit lions football players. So I had to give it a try. My biggest regret is that I wish I had found out about this place sooner! I tried the apple, fritter with caramel and the apple fritter with, believe it or not, bacon! Both were excellent in taste and texture. You can tell there is a commitment to freshness. The icing on the cake for me was the coffee. Extremely fresh and smooth. A must try if you can get there!

This place has great, fresh donuts and so much variety to choose from. I had a special Donut made for a Birthday and it was perfect! Highly recommend!

I've come here a few times now before 6am, and I'm never disappointed. The storefront is always kept clean, neat, and organized. Staff are great, they all have good attitudes and are a very helpful. I don't know where to start when it comes to their food. It's absolutely incredible! Very creative without going overboard. Monstrous selections and variations of each type of food (bagels, donuts, cakes, danishes, cookies, etc) Bottom line, it's worth a try

first time in the shop .... salesgirl should have been freendler(sp) and at least smiled... she did not... donuts i got were not fresh and very skimpy on the fillings(custard,cream) not much icing on the jelly doughnut... so,i have had much better doughnuts elsewhere.

I was craving a Bacon Maple Glazed Donut did my research and found The Apple Fritter Donut Shop. It was my first time there there were so many options I was overwhelmed! The lady who helped me out was kind enough to throw in a free fritter because it was my first time. Everything taste Amazing! I'll be back!!!

Donuts are amazing! Every single flavor I have tried was perfection. These donuts are perfect. I'm not even a donut person but I've eaten 4 donuts in one day smh. And they gave me a free fritter since it was my first time. They just gained a lifetime customer and I will only be recommending this donut shop!!! One of my all-time favorite places and a can't-miss whenever I'm in the area. The donuts, and of course the apple fritters, here are the best of the best and the people working in the shop are just as great. The crullers, the sour cream glaze, apple cider, all to die for. I live 600 miles away in NJ and never make the trek home without a box from The Apple Fritter with me on the plane. Can't recommend more highly!

Nothing makes me boil more than an overly sweet, too dry, too much junk on top "donut" in the morning. This is definitely Not the case with Apple Fritter. I have yet to come across a donute I didn't like that they make. I usually get their "Boston Creme" donut and a apple danish. Both top notch. The donut dough is a perfect soft consistency with just the right amount of creme. The danish dough is so flavorful and semi-flaky that I could eat it without the topping, thats how delicious the dough is. On top of that, their prices are very reasonable! Hands down the Best Donut Shop in Metro Detroit, bar none! Come here to get your next Dozen and you will not be let down.

Had to come here because Holy Moly was closed, so I wasn't expecting much. It was a pleasant surprise when I walked in. All the employees were wearing masks, as well as the other 2 patrons who came in while I was there. I was a little overwhelmed by all their flavors. They'll have several flavors of one donut, ie choco, choc/choc, choco/maple, etc. Their crullers were very good, I got the one with chocolate on it. I also got the cherry, cherry cake, and I really enjoyed that too. Everyone at work enjoyed the flavors they had as well. Good donuts.

The large donut cake is so delicious and so fun, the ordering process couldn't be easier. Every time we have visited, we have received great service! Also ordered a variety dozen for a party and their selection was perfect!

I love this place! Donuts are delicious; I love the blueberry, and cinnamon toast crunch glazed. I have yet to try the Apple Fitters, or other baked goods but they look appetizing and they have a large variety. The best part though, the customer service! They didn't have the fruity pebbles or cinnamon toast crunch on the shelf, but the baker made 4 of each for me! They put them in a separate box because they were still piping hot (of course as soon as I got into the car I devoured one before it could cool off)! The counter person was super helpful, giving me a good mix for the rest of my order. Also, prices are reasonable $10.50 a bakers dozen (price as of 4.19.19).

Nothing bad to say. Donuts are BOMBBBBBBB, the service is good and the price isn't crazy. I would eat here everyday but I don't want to get fat.

Donuts here are great! I came later on in the day, but they still had quite a bit to choose from. Only downfall was that the service was not too friendly. The gentleman behind the counter was not very welcoming, and I felt a little rushed while looking over what they had to offer. I will come back to try more though!

Best local place to get doughnuts. Always friendly atmosphere and the fritters are amazing. Stopped in here with my daughter to get sprinkle doughnuts. The workers offered her coloring books etc for a free doughnut. Awesome service. Thanks guys !

My favorite donut is easily an apple fritter, so the idea of a shop that is named after my favorite donut was what drew me in. I was met by a case full of different kinds of fritters. I tried Apple, Cherry, and Blueberry Maple(never had this kind of fritter before). They were all great! Even if the donuts were mediocre, which they were not, I would go back just for the service. The woman who helped me was so nice! I told here I had moved here in the past year from Colorado and we got to talking about all the donuts, best sellers, etc. She let me sample a donut before I even bought anything because she said she appreciated giving the shop a try and welcomed me to the area. Instant hit, I love this place!
