Some Montreal Nightclubs Are Closing Due to Coronovirus — But Not All - Eater Montreal

"Nearby club Apartment 200 did the same — although both clubs are small enough that they theoretically could have opened with reduced capacity if they wanted." - Tim Forster

Starts to get busy usually after 12am. The bartenders there were so nice. We were one of the first ones to come in and she gave us shots for free! A younger crowd for sure.

Worst DJ I have ever seen in a club, this club was highly recommended to me but the music was absolutely awful. The female to male ratio was about 60:40 which wasn’t bad, but there were a lot of couples. It would have been a great place if the music didn’t suck and people were dancing instead of shuffling around.

Alex

Google
Great vibes, the check in is strict, only the coolest good looking people can get it, you have a certain look to get in. Get there at 10pm to have a chance, if not only hot girls will get in especially at summer. This place has a reputation for a reason, you get in, you feel special. You'll have the night of your life.

My first time at Apt. 200! It was for a private event (office Christmas party), which meant we got the place to ourselves till they opened it to the public. The food in our case was a buffet style which was ok, I do feel like it could have been better. The music was great, and I absolutely loved the arcade aspect of the bar. All the games (especially Pac-Man) was my favorite part of Apt. 200. There are also a lot of areas for a person to sit and chill. The dance floor was pretty tight and crowded, just the right vibe. I would recommend if you are coming in with a group of people who feel like doing different things as there is something for everyone.

Google
This was a really cool concept . It was an open concept apartment that was turned into a bar. Had old style arcade games and the bartender was insanely helpful when it came to questions about the menu and the city .

Google
Beautiful venu, lovely staff and good music. I had a wonderful night there, but unfortunately it didn't end well considering the fact that I clearly asked the coat check girl if I left my Gucci hat with her it would be there when I came back. Although when I came to get my stuff...my Gucci hat was missing and I had to make a scene to get it back. Real vibe killer! Get yourself someone reliable and responsible plz.

LOL! I wish I had a better experience at Apt. 200, but unfortunately, I had to walk out just ten minutes after arriving. My night was ruined by the disrespectful treatment I received from a female bartender. It was clear that she was taking free shots with regulars and gave me attitude, possibly because she was intoxicated. Her unprofessional behaviour made me feel unwelcome and disrespected, especially as it was my first time ever visiting. It's disappointing to be treated like I was nothing, and I had a better reason to spend my evening elsewhere. I hope the management addresses this issue to ensure a more professional and welcoming atmosphere for all guests in the future.

Jordan Porciello

Google
Chill place with loud trending music and some spaces to reserve for bottle service. The coin machine for arcade games wasn't working and no bar tender would exchange any coins with me. So I was out of luck. I just really wanted to play NFL blitz. Mostly a younger crowd here.

Catherine C.

Yelp
Bad bad place. They didn't except my friends ID because she was from BC. Terrible customer service and worse attitudes from the staff.

Yelp
Amazing hidden location! Great music and nice open atmosphere . People working acted as if ordering a drink was a hassle. Not very friendly .... Windows's were open facing the street which was a nice view .

Yelp
This place is a blast. Honestly I could find a bunch of stuff to complain about here but almost everything contributed to the overall good times that were had by 5 of our group. So dont overthink it, get a drink and enjoy the experience that is Apartment 200.

Yelp
At nearly 1:30 am, I went to the coat check area at apt 200 MTL, asking to get my coat back. I lost my coat ticket because of how crowded it was inside the club. However, the coat check lady refused to return my coat and immediately started acting rude and annoyed. She called me by dude and bro, which was so weird and unprofessional of her as a worker of apt 200. She said I was only left with two options either get out of the club or wait until 3 am to get my coat (how could someone leave their customers with options and give them an attitude like that. She then wanted to call security to kick me out of the club, saying she could not deal with me anymore. Some guy then came and told me I needed to relax. Otherwise, they wouldn't know how to return my jacket to me. I started getting a little emotional because they left me with no choice. Then, they explained that if I could get a friend to show their coat ticket, they probably would be able to locate my jacket. Hello? They only did what they should have done after seeing me being vulnerable and helpless. I will continue to file a complaint to the government of Quebec or whichever organization there is to report the situation. I am very disappointed with apartment 200 MTL as it was recommended to me by many friends. I do not think anyone should go to a club with this type of ridiculous customer service.

Yelp
Went there for a bachelorette party this past weekend. The bartenders were efficient, fast, and friendly. They gave us a round of free shots, which was nice of them. The DJ played a good mix of old school and modern hip hop. Towards the end of the night, our group was harassed by this tall, drunk man. He grabbed our friend and lifted her skirt, entirely exposing her. I'm posting a photo of the creep so future patrons can avoid this from happening from them. He was eventually kicked out of the club, so kudos to the attentive bouncers.

Yelp
If you like speakeasies, you will LOVE Apt 200!!! The entrance is somewhat hidden, so you need to know about it beforehand. Amazing vibes, fun arcade games and delicious cocktails. Extremely spacious. We came here when visiting from New York, and we felt like we were in the heart of Brooklyn! Definitely on my list of places to come back to the next time I'm in Canada. :)

Yelp
Okay so if you can't have a good time here it says more about you than the actual bar tbh. It's popular, you don't walk up to 1Oak and be upset about waiting a lil bit unless you yourself are a celebrity. Speaking of which you're bound to run into a number of artists & local movers/shakers of the industry just by being here. Any lack of convenience, waiting for bar service etc. Is more than worth it to watch 200 kids lose their fucking mind over Playboi Carti or whoever is the special guest that weekend. The arcade is fye & there's a sneaky back bar section decked out to look like a library recommended if you're feeling looked over at the main bar. Check the Instagram & plot your course, also, bare tings bruv no cap.

Yelp
Came here on a Wed around 8:30 pm, and it was empty..... So I can't really be a good judge for the ambiance, however the décor was noice. Only thing is that the bar tender could not make a proper martini, she even admitted it that they are not that type of place. But still every bar tender should know how to make a martini.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm someone who organizes events for Concordia ALL the time. This place is TOO hyped up. The place was close to empty & they made people wait outside for nothing. If that was not enough, there was no dancing & the barmaid dictated how much I should tip her. Not only that, they tried to make me pay fo a waterbottle when water (tap) is free in quebec. This is ridiculous. This place is absolutely overrated & not worth it.
google avatar

Tamim S.

Yelp
Great concept as a bar/club. However, terrible customer service. The cocktail selections are very average. Overall, great ambience but below par staff.
google avatar

Yelp
the bouncer tried to overcompensate for his small penis with a big beard and a worse attitude. talk about a dude who drives a chevy tahoe and lives in his mom's trailer. I haven't met anyone that soft since I went camping with the charmin ultra bear. I mean he's so soft I can't believe he's not butter. Every once in a while when he shows up to work on a sunday he tells himself, "this is going to be the day I really get back at the educated world and validate my spider web elbow tattoo and group seminar on channeling my anger properly and exercise my power over my own small 3x3 meter personal space by preventing all the people who were smarter than me in high school from bringing their friends into a bar on a sunday night by only letting certain guys and girls in but not all of them because I'm a roided-out freak with a fucking clipboard." if you do happen to make it into the bar without half of your friends being rejected in front of you and being forced to buy a $200 bottle, the drinks are decent and the music is fine.

Yelp
Enter and head up a flight of stairs. If you think you're lost, you're probably in the right place. We went on a weeknight in the winter and coat check was mandatory ($3). Drinks are priced adequately - neither cheap nor pricey. The name of the place lays out the atmosphere for itself. When you enter, it's as if you're in someone's apartment. They even have a bedroom for effect - at least I hope it's for effect... You've got pool, air hockey and a few arcade games (like PacMan, Shooter games, and basketball hoops). They even had a live band the night we went. I like how laid-back the vibe is. It's a great place to play pool, listen to music, and just hang out with friends.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
wow the bouncer Tate is full trash.. you really need to know some people to get in and when you get in it's dead anyways with mediocre music. Also, the arcade basketball is broken which is what kept me coming back so Ecole it is from now on.
google avatar

Kate V.

Yelp
Fun little speakeasy style bar. Music here is never a let down. And the decoration from the front facing windows to the bathroom is very well done. Excited to stop in again the next time I'm in Toronto.

Hermione L.

Yelp
The space is amazing ! But the staff is Awful, not friendly, or smiling. It's feels like you are "disturbing them". That's too bad because excepting that it's a nice place ! Oh and also the whiskey is shitty (they should use a nice one for the price) !
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
Would not even call a "speakeasy", as other reviewers called it. Speakeasies are usually known for good cocktails. Speakeasy or not, its not a good place at all. Ordered a pitcher of mojito, which tasted like tap water. I didn't taste any sugar, lime, or alcohol. I could physically see mint in it, but didn't taste much of that either. Of course, bartender couldn't care less. Shared with one other person, feeling more sober than walking in. Great decor and has the potential to be a fun place, but the customer service is terrible.

Yelp
First let me be upfront. This is not my type of bar and I might be a little biased. But I can say for sure that I'll never go back to this place. A friend selected this place for his birthday party and he had a reservation one week in advance. We all got there pretty early (around 7:30 - if you get there late you will be waiting in line outside with no guarantee of getting in) ordered a few drinks and made ourselves comfortable. After 45 minutes or so the waitress came and told us that we had to leave that area because another group had reserved it. At the time our host was outside the bar to get something to eat (sice the bar does not carry any food whatsoever), so we were all confused. The manager came a few minutes later and in a very rude maner asked us to leave the area and he would place us somewhere else until they found out what was going on. We were 14 in total and they've put us on this small tables in the Center of the bar, forcing us to split the group in two. When our host arrived with the saying that in fact been confirmed the manager said that he did not believe and that he would have to see the email. We've showed that he had the email and we never heard any apologies from the management. We were later relocated to "the room", where we all had drinks and talked. But then every 15 minutes the waitress would come over and ask our host if we would order bottle services (starting at $165+). After we all decided that we did not want it, she kept saying that we would again have to leave that area because it was for people willing to buy bottles only. We've decided to buy one bottle of whiskey (mostly to make her go way) but then she told us that it would not be enough, that buying one or buying none would be the same. We left the area and later the bar and went somewhere else to end the night. I speak for myself but Ill never go back there again. We've drank all night and spent a considerable amount of money to be treated so badly.

Yelp
I found this place through a top 10 in Montreal list. The pictures looked amazing and in person, the place looks just as incredible. Decorated like a gigantic loft apartment it's quite impressive visually. That's sort of where it stops being impressive. 4 of us came here for a cocktail on a Thursday night. There is a doorman that tells us you must have a reservation in order to get in. When we look confused and are about to walk away he tells us that since we are two couples, he will let us in. He makes no mention of the fact that it's a $10 cover which we find out once we get upstairs. Ok, no big deal -- we pay the $40 to get in only to find the place is empty. Literally 5 people inside besides us. To even state that it's reservation only when your bar is completely empty is just bizarre. We order drinks, they are between $11-$15 a piece. The bartender did put care into making them but probably because the place was empty. There is some background music playing but this is by all means a bar, not a club. Especially on a Thursday night. There are several video game machines but all of them are either broken or lacking some part/piece. The basketball game has one basketball in it. The racing games kept spitting my quarter back out. A $10 cover and you cannot even maintain the place? There were some really nice pool tables that were free to play. We left after our one drink and decided to always ask before entering about the cover moving forward in Montreal.

Yelp
This place opened recently and I think it's fair to say that it's the best place I've been in Montreal so far. I went there a few times, it's gaining in popularity, the place is always cracked up now and with reason. It's a fun place to go to the prices for alcohol are all right, the staff is awesome. The interior design is just magnificent and and and you have arcades inside of the bar. The music is just fantastic, I've was subjugated by it. The first thing that was playing when I walked in was Jurassic 5 and I knew it would be a great place.

PorknRoxy L.

Yelp
We came here as a group of 5 and had the worst experience ever. The place was dead and when we walked in and the bar tender had the nastiest attitude. It looked like she was upset that we interrupted her phone session with another person that worked there. We proceeded to order our drink and my friends received a cracked glass. When my friend went to get a new drink because of the crack the bar tender simply poured the drink from the cracked/chipped glass into a new one that had a chip. Then she grabbed a third glass that was chipped. We ultimately told her that she NEEDED to make a new drink because there might be chipped glass in the drink. Again we were given an attitude. This is our third time here while in Montreal. It seems like things have changed. We will no longer give this place our business.

Yelp
TBH- loved it* Wanted to live there forreal 18 year old chicks *missed all the douchebaggery people are writing about because we got there early. They definitely control the door after 11. They take US debit & have games/ a breathalyzer which we used like a game so that's dangerous
google avatar

Stephen D.

Yelp
The cover charge, the service, the broken amenities overshadow the awesomeness of this place. We came on a Thursday night, we were asked if we had a reservation, we said no. They said $10/person (4 of us in the group). We get upstairs and we are 4 of 10 people in this bar. Reservation?! The style is so cool, the space is huge and open, there are tons of games to play, but most were broken. We ordered some cocktails, they were very well prepared, they took their time with it, but it was like $60 for four drinks, which isn't so bad, but still when your paying the cover it's dumb. The basketball game didn't work, the racing game didn't work, and the servers/bartenders walked around pissed. the pool tables however were really great, the pool cues were in awesome condition, considering. Cool to see, but easy to leave.
google avatar

Yelp
Easily the best place I visited while I visited Montreal. So good, me & my friends were there on Thursday AND Sunday. Cool atmosphere, great music, lots of dancing, and lots of friendly people. Drinks are a little pricy for what you get, but hey- it's a bar. I'd recommend to everyone visiting and will make it apart of my trip whenever I visit the city again-- too many good memories! Apt200 set a great tone for the beginning and end of our trip.
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
Apt 200 just might be the best bar I've been to in long time. For sure it's like no other place I've ever been before. The place has a unique interior design. As the name suggests it is modeled after an apartment. There's a den, bedroom, living room, etc and the design is funky and eclectic. For me the interior design was the best part of this place. They also have retro arcade games too as well as pool and table top hockey. The prices for alcohol are in line with what you'd pay at other places and the cocktails were quite good. The noise level also wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. That being said though it was happy hour and it wasn't super packed. I imagine on a busier night it would be worse. Definitely hit this place up when you get the chance. It won't let you down.
google avatar

Kirsty M.

Yelp
The DJ here is horrible. Please hire someone else and I would give this place 4 stars. I can't ever give 5 stars because there's a bed in here and it looks gross.
google avatar

AK B.

Yelp
Disgusting service. From the bouncers to the waitresses, they're all horrible and treated my friends and I as if we were cheap young children. We are all over the age of 22 and spent over 500$. We went outside for a cigarette and were stamped before so we would not have trouble getting back in...... Which is exactly what happened. We were stuck outside for 40 minutes (with many other people) being pushed away by the bouncers telling us to stay on the side. The bouncers were yelling at us as if we were a bunch of convicts. Luckily 3 police cars showed up and cleared the scene. Everyone who was stamped was let back in. This isn't the first time that this has happened to me either at this place. I decided to give them a third chance (third time is the charm, right? Not really) Avoid avoid avoid.
google avatar

Sarah-Maude M.

Yelp
This is me & my squad's bar of choice. We always go for a good time & the bouncer are friendly & it's relatively easy to get a drink. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there is so much people that sometimes it becomes too crowded & people can go wild & push each other around.
google avatar

Jimmy L.

Yelp
As the kids say, this place is Lit Yo! The inside looks like the place of a friend you wish you had: retro arcades, pool table, porn like couches. Plus, the places is full of beaches (know what I'm sayin' fam).
google avatar

Audrey P.

Yelp
Dope, hipster layout, and cool vibes. The drinks however were very watered down and quite pricey. Took awhile for the place to get lit. The music was questionable. At times there were great, dance songs and then at other times, there were slow, chill at home type songs. I would go back to hang out with friends and shoot pool but would not recommend this place if you're trying to party.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Cocktails were pretty good id say, a little on the expensive side but not terrible. The atmosphere is very cool its just like a house with a living room, dining room and kitchen, Its a great idea. What is making me give them 3 stars is the fact we came on a Thursday night, there was a $10/person cover and we went in there and it was dead. They made it seems so exclusive and said how we would normally need a reservation and stuff but they were being nice and letting us in. The place was empty. If they didn't charge us $40 total to get in i probably would have stayed longer and bought more drinks but to just walk into a bar and have to drop $40 pisses me off. Probably more fun on a Friday or Saturday night with more people, id probably never go back though, there are much cooler spots in Montreal.

Gracie S.

Yelp
They let my friend cross the border with her passport but not into apartment 200... take that in
google avatar

Becca S.

Yelp
The atmosphere of the bar was pretty cool, it had a couple of pool tables and soft lighting. However, I would give this 1 because of the services and the way we were treated. After giving tip to the bartender, he asked for more and implied that he deserved a lot more for his service. That portion of the night was so unpleasant, if that didnt happen I think we would have really liked this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by with a few friends on a Sunday night before we headed back to NY the next day. At first I was a little reluctant about coming to this place since I had read certain reviews. We arrived around 9pm, walked up those flight of stairs and found the place to be really spacious. When we arrived there were only around 10 people having some drinks and some on the games. We quickly headed to the bar and there were two of the most friendliest and coolest ladies bar tending, I didn't catch the name of the girl that looks mixed or Latina but the other one that looks sort of like Megan Fox, her name is Kayla (A total sweetheart). We quickly started to order drinks and yes to open up a tab with a credit card the minimum is $30 but I don't know why that bothers some, you don't go to a bar to talk and have half a drink either. The music is a mix of old school/new school hip hop, lounge and I can't really remember what else. The drinks are good, they don't feel watered down, prices are normal for a bar, some cost $8 others $15 all depending on what you like. I guess everyone's experience is different but we never encountered anything like some of the negative reviews say, maybe because it was a Sunday night. The place started to fill up after about an hour or two, everyone was just having a good time, the atmosphere was great, never felt tense. The place itself is nicely decorated, a few arcade games, pool tables and basketball machines, clean, great staff and security and it's located in a good zone, I have nothing bad to say about this place. The two barmaids took the prize, great friendly and welcoming, we never felt isolated or like they were rude towards us, even though some of us were clearly tipsy, they still maintained their great personalities. Great place to spend a few hours with friends having some drinks and just having a good time.

Xavier M.

Yelp
The Apt 200 is absolutely amazing ! I love all those retro arcade games ! It's a fun and upscale place to go and chill out ! The interior decor is very well done.
google avatar

Taryn M.

Yelp
As an interior design enthusiast, this bar is IT! From the street view, to the drink selection to the restrooms, everything about this place is curated and considered.
google avatar

Genevieve V.

Yelp
I go for the basketball and the bird cage/VIP(?) room. The music CAN be good. French/English balance.

Alice A.

Yelp
My friends and I (all girls) got into the club with ease and were waiting for our boyfriends to show up and get in. They were lied to and told that it was reservation only and got kicked out after waiting in the cold for 40 minutes. When they walked away they turned around to see multiple people getting let in. Its a shame that a place that has such sick music and nice ambience be selective assholes to people.... Only expect to get in if you're a girl or a guy with +2 girls :/
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
The pictures made the place look chill and aesthetic. these are both true but it is also super lively, at least when i went. The music was fire, young people were dancing, drinks were good. it's what a club should be without being a club.
google avatar

Lex B.

Yelp
SHADY COMPANY TERRIBLE SERVICE. Two major problems with this venue, coat check either stole my $350 jacket or messed up and gave it away to someone. Second The bartenders tried to rip me off by not giving me back my proper change. I checked my $350 jacket into the coat check at the beginning of the night and took my ticket stub (I still have it, it's number 778). At the end of the night I go to collect my jacket and the girl working the coat check takes my ticket stub, goes through the jackets and comes back shaking her head. I ask what is the matter and she speaks in french/broken english to me claiming she doesn't understand english. She tries showing me some other jackets to see if they are mine and I keep saying no. After a minute or two of back and fourth exchange I gather that she wants me to call in tomorrow for the jacket and ask to speak to the manager or something and she gives me a number. I call the next day and the number that I call is a voice message half in french half in english saying to either email Appt. 200 or text them. I do both and send them a message to their facebook page. I did this 3 days after and then once a week after. Still no response or anything. This is absolutely outrageous. I was visiting friends from out of town and had to leave Montreal without my jacket... I got the vibe that they look down upon those who do not speak french there. Terrible terrible customer service, I would stay clear of this place and their shady company practices.
google avatar

Thea M.

Yelp
Overrated and not worth it. Expensive drinks, douchey crowd, long line, and rude management. There are much better places on St Lo.

Mike D.

Yelp
If you are a guy, and if you are white or otherwise not black, avoid this place. This is the bar in town where white girls go to hook up with black dudes. I was shocked that no previous reviews made this rather obvious observation. Or maybe they did, but maybe these reviews got taken down by Yelp? Anyway, if you are a black guy and you like rather attractive, easy white girls, this is definitely the place to be. 5+ stars. I'd come every night of the week, but alas, I am not black. Maybe in my next lifetime :)

Yelp
I have not stepped foot in this bar. I have been planning a bar hopping night for my wife's birthday, one last hurrah before starting a family. We contacted Apt200 via facebook to make a reservation for 10 - 15 people. This is when we were told all casual like it was no big deal that to reserve a table we would have to purchase bottle service at a steep $300.00. Even at a upscale club this was a steep price. Obviously this would have blown our evening's budget disallowing us to partake in the multiple bar hop evening we had planned out. In no way was the bar willing to accommodate our party for cocktails. Even considering we were planning on sticking around for at least an hour. At their $15 per drink with 10 people we would have quickly reached their $300.00 price point if each of use ordered two beverages. As far as I'm concerned if a bar has to upfront charge you a ridiculous price to reserve a table to patron their bar, they aren't the bar you should be supporting. Keep searching.
google avatar

Kimberly D.

Yelp
Such a cute bar! Nice and relaxed atmosphere- they had comfy couches, a pool table, and arcade games. I'm from New York, so I wasn't used to partying with 18yr olds. However, Apt 200 attracted an older crowd which was nice.

Karim M.

Yelp
Spent my birthday here! Had a crazy night! Staff is very nice! I would recommend this place to everyone!
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Came here on a busy night and the service was horrible at every step. The doorman was rude, the coat check refused to take our coats ("there are no more hangers," they told us, as they handed someone their coat, freeing up a hanger), we were booted from a table for not having bought a bottle, the drinks were watered down, and when we finally convinced the coat check to take our coats they lost them. Prices were decent and the decor was nice but it was not worth the hassle.

Yelp
Waited in line for a very long time on a Thursday night. Talked to the guys in front of me who didn't have a reservation, they got in. When we got to the front they said we couldn't get in without a reservation. Meanwhile people were frequently cutting the line and walking in who didn't appear to have reservations either. Bouncers were rude.

Yelp
Cool spot but TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. I have never experienced such awful service trying to book a table as this club. I'm currently trying to make reservations for bottle service/table for 2 bottles. Can barely ever reach anyone regardless of what time of day I try to call. I get referred to multiple emails, that do not ever send any responses. What is this crap? Why is it so hard to give you my money?? On any given Friday or Saturday, whenever I have passed by on Saint Laurent and tried to get in, they say "Guestlist Only". Yes, but why don't you make it easier to get on the guestlist?! You guys are too arrogant about your popularity. You're not that special. Good luck trying to keep this little fad going with shitty service like this. At this rate, won't be long before another 'hipster', spot attracts all of your clientele. Taking my money elsewhere.

Yelp
There bouncers were rude. I was outside for 2 hours. The bar isn't even that fun. It's solely the owners friends. It's not worth the wait. They don't respect customers
