Coffee shop workers always treat people with kindness. The Brazilian food is delicious. Stop by here before heading to work or home!

Google
Coffee, Service, and Pastry was top notch. Super friendly service with a smile. My Latte was excellent and so flavorful. The chocolate cake slice was so moist and rich without being overbearing. The building is also very beautiful. I had no problem sitting and admiring the ceiling while I enjoyed my coffee and pastry. Would recommend!

Google
A delicious cappuccino made with Brazilian coffee beans, friendly staff in a stunning setting highly recommended

Google
Wow, I feel lovestruck from this experience haha I don’t say this lightly: this may be my new favorite coffee shop. The baristas were incredibly warm and friendly. My specialty latte and pão de queijo were tasty. And the building is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot wait to come back! If you’re thinking about stopping by, just do it.

Google
The most unusual coffee shop I've ever visited ))) Very friendly staff. Coffee is an acquired taste, I would come here a second time for the atmosphere, but not for the coffee.

Nastaran Farhadi

Google
I recently visited the most beautiful coffee shop in downtown LA. The interior is stunning and creates a perfect atmosphere. While the food was not very good, the coffee was excellent. Definitely worth a visit for the ambiance and coffee!

Akiko Garcia

Google
The place and people are PEAK vibes. I mean they were blasting Destiny's Child the whole time I was there and I had a chat with the barista about the current political climate and academia. I would just say the worst part was parking... You'll pay $40 for more than a couple hours. Metered parking across the street is rare with a 2 hour maximum. The coffee is good! It's not too crowded so there isn't a long wait. There are plug outlets if you want to work there 🙂

Google
There’s no shortage of coffee stands in DTLA but my coworkers and I all tried different drinks and all loved this place the best. It’s a little hidden as it’s tucked away in the lobby of a beautiful building but well worth seeking out. This place is my new favorite.

Sam S.

Yelp
Loved this hidden, DTLA gem! Located in the iconic CalEdison building, we stopped here specifically because we wanted to try their Brazilian specialty coffee drinks. My husband got the Cafezinho, and I opted for the Saúde Latte with oat milk - both were SO good. The staff were SO nice and were happy to guide us through the menu to find the right drink for each of us. This also has to be one of the coolest places to hang and drink your coffee - we love a historic building. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Great little hidden gem inside the downtown Los Angeles financial district. Service is great

Nasiha A.

Yelp
We came here on a weekday We were able to find street parking easily It's across the La public library In the Torrey pines bank This is a such a beautiful building built in 1931 the architecture inside is beautiful The coffee stall is inside with indoor seating to work or chat. The coffee is Brazilian so lots of Brazilian flavors and pastries The baristas were so kind and friendly Gave us recommendations I for the sabotage iced It was so good, definitely on the sweeter side but that is my favorite lol. I definitely will come back Restrooms are accessible by escort from the barista :) they have keys and since it's a functioning bank they have to walk you to the restroom :)

Magali F.

Yelp
Great ambience and delicious coffee drinks! Would definitely recommend. Also, great service.

Kristen B.

Yelp
Awesome historic space, friendly service, and delicious coffee! I got the Sabotage. It was slightly spicy and not too sweet.

Kislev A.

Yelp
This AQUARELA COFFEE is a cart located on the lobby of the beautiful Torrey Pines Bank building. I'm not sure who really owns the building, but the sign at the front says "Torrey Pines Bank". It's located across the street from the Los Angeles Public Library's Central Library. This is the same Aquarela located in Chinatown. The coffee and milk in the ICED LATTE is well proportioned. The coffee is tart. Speaking of tart, so was the CHOPP. It's like drinking a coffee flavored soda. Very refreshing. The staff are super friendly. Patient and very fast. There are some seats and tables available.

Ana R.

Yelp
It's so beautiful. My latte was delicious. Service was great. The only bummer thing is parking. It's across from the L.A. Library. So if you could figure out a way to park great. Otherwise parking is insane. It was my son's birthday, so on this day I didn't care. However if I were to go again I would do some mayor parking hunting.

Claudia C.

Yelp
Adorable coffee shop inside a DTLA business building! The baristas are the sweetest people and they have some pastries and Brazilian cheese balls to go with your coffee. There is limited seating so I imagine it would be harder to sit when it's crowded and loud. The architecture and tall ceilings are prime conditions for a lot of echo. There is WiFi! But it is really shoddy and was kicking me off every few minutes. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you had a hotspot or just trying to read a book. I think this place is really cute and stays nice and cool when it's a bit hot out. Just wish the internet was better! And I don't think that the coffee I got was out of this world or anything that I would go out of my way to come to get it without staying for the environment.

Devon B.

Yelp
This location is located inside of a historic building in downtown LA so the ambiance is simply amazing. There are some good conversations happening around with people so if you like that kind of thing this is definitely a place you can go to. The reception in the building isn't the greatest because it's an historic building so keep that in mind. But if you want to sit down, have a conversation and be inspired. This is a good location. The coffee was decent in reality. I would probably give the coffee a 3 and 1/2 to 3 and 3/4 review. It was well balanced however look like the best tasting coffee on the menu was only available in cold and I picked up this coffee in the morning before work so I wanted something hot. Unfortunately, they weren't able to be nimble enough to make that particular drink a hot drink. So I pivoted and had a drink that was brewed within a orange peel which gave the coffee a nice citrusy orange hint which made the coffee pleasant. Not exceptional or pleasant because of the location and the ambiance. I would go back to this one but it's going to be a little bound because there are a lot of coffee shops to explore in this area. I've uploaded plenty of pictures for you to take a look. It's worth you visiting as well

Yelp
Working in downtown LA gives you a wealth of coffee to try, but this shop tucked in a corner of a bank lobby off 5th street is one of my favorites. Specializing in Brazilian coffee, Aquarela offers a small menu of great options, including the Sabotage - a spiced mocha that packs a punch. The staff are particularly warm and friendly, and even though it's in a big space, the shop is never too crowded. If you have a chance to stop by, highly recommend!

Mary D.

Yelp
Small stand inside a beautiful old building. The service was friendly. The drinks were just not the hype it was for us. The batida tasted just like a blended banana and chopp tasted like a cold brew if you added tajin

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Lee is a wonderful bright light and makes this a neighborhood spot. The building itself is amazing but the drinks and conversation are just as special. Friendly service and beautiful surroundings. 10/10 recommend.

James H.

Yelp
This is a super chic small coffee spot that has LA written all over it. It can be a little confusing to find, it's located in the The Cal Edison DTLA building (See my photos to see the building) They offer Brazilian coffee and a few pastries. I had the iced Sabotage which has little spice kick to it and it hit the spot. If you're looking for a photo-shoot type coffee ambience then this is your spot. The inside of this building is beautiful and made me feel like I was 2 tax brackets higher :) There are a small high top tables next to it, good for 2 people, there is a longer table next to those and some chairs near the entrance. It wasn't too busy when i was there at 1pm on a Monday (who in LA has a real job anyway?) I also had their beef croquette which was surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to be anything special at this little place but it was actually delicious. I'll be sure to come back and try their other items. Staff were super friendly and I can see myself coming here for a few hours to work or just to get out of the house. 4 stars because the menu is rather small, I'd like some more food options, but its a small coffee place right....I need to quit being so picky. Also pricing is what you'd expect for LA, a bit much but you'll pay it anyway right?

Shouka S.

Yelp
What an amazing place! My husband and I were quickly greeted by someone as soon as we walked in. Since it was our first time, we asked questions to see what would be best to order. I ended up ordering the Saúde and my husband ordered the Sabotage. Since we came in the later afternoon, pastries were limited but we were told that they were testing out a new corn meal based Brazilian cake. We got a slice of that to share. We both enjoyed our coffees and the cake so much! The cake was delicious! Definitely a must go if you're in the area.

Yelp
Saude Latte.. A salute to good health. Latte consisting of espresso extracted over orange peel. A dash of cinnamon to slightly spice it up a bit. It's made to order. Be patient and you'll be rewarded with a cup of joy. Aquarela Coffee located at the Cal Edison Building is where Brazilian coffee meets 1930s art deco. The shiny stonework here is great match for the lattes here. Literally, the high columns and coffered ceilings are of the same color as Aquarela's coffee. The architecture here at this location is a must visit. The coffee and the friendly barista service is a plus.

Eyleen M.

Yelp
Found in Caledison building, with a beautiful lobby area where this coffee spot is. Rare farm direct Brazilian coffees can be found here. Tried the Batida and Sabotage. If you like a really good hit and taste of the coffee, sabotage is the way to go. It has a great balance of flavor and sweetness. As for Batida, reading it on the menu made me think more of a smoothie consistency but it was surprisingly light-- the banana worked so well with the coffee and really helped bring out the coffee flavor in a great way. Not at all overpowered with the banana. Pastries are offered here as well. Not crowded and a decent amount of seating.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops. I was first introduced to the chinatown location and found this one walking by. The location is so beautiful and historic. Will definitely visit again

Allison H.

Yelp
This cute little coffee stand is tucked away in the lobby of a beautiful building in DTLA. Street parking is very limited, so my friends and I opted to park in the underground lot of the U.S. Bank building next door--$7 for a 20-minute coffee run. The staff was super friendly and helpful, which made our experience even better. The barista recommended we try the Chopp, a unique drink that was different from anything we've had before. The tonic added a fizzy twist, and the lime gave it a tangy start, but the drink gradually gave way to a smooth coffee aftertaste. It's definitely an interesting drink, but not necessarily something we'd order again.

Svetlana S.

Yelp
Love the ambience, coffee and the croquetas. I wish I brought a book and stayed there for an hour. Great service from the staff as well. I will come back.

Kia A.

Yelp
Lovely place and relaxing ambiance. I ordered Batida and I liked it! Since I'm a strong coffee drinker, I should have checked if they can make the coffee flavor strong. Overall, I had a great experience and I hope to visit again!

Michael S.

Yelp
Great place for coffee in DTLA. The service was warming and fast. Definitely recommend this place for a date option.

Diana S.

Yelp
Reposting my review for the DTLA Yelp!! So glad to see a separate one! Coffee: 9 out of 10 Customer Service: 10 out of 10 As a non-coffee drinker, this made me hopeful for the future. Their specialty drink (Sabotage?) was one of their sweeter coffees and I think it does this place justice. Will return :) (Please also try the little cheese balls with the guava jelly! So good) April 2023 Visit: I went again recently and was reminded of how much I loved this place! Staff was great and I even got myself a little cup to remember them! Those little cheese balls are as good as I remember!

Steph B.

Yelp
Man this coffee shop is everything!! I love the service, the vibes, the locations ! Not to mention the "sabotage" or the dirty Chai or the batida, tastes amazing!! Lord and the pastries, so damn delicious. I cannot get enough ! Definitely recommended! Go, go, please go !

Gilda L.

Yelp
Wow! Great tasting coffee!! Ordered basic latte w oatmilk...sooo good! Took care of my pm caffeine fix. Of all the small biz coffee stands locally in DTLA this one a huge win. I'll def be back..hooked on this flavor

Tori M.

Yelp
Exceptional service, gorgeous interior and delicious coffee. Good prices too! I highly recommend to anyone looking to cool off in this heat with a nice iced latte.

Annelise B.

Yelp
Very satisfied! Great coffee, helpful staff. My friend and I stopped here before work while we were in training across the street at the Gas Company Tower. Specifically the first morning we came the barista (wish I had caught his name) was very kind and gave great advice. Both me and my friend ended up getting coffee we really enjoyed!

Jose C.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I went but I truly remember, not just the location, but the great staff (friendly and smiling). Definitely nice location in a nice building. Just happen to be off on a weekday to be able to see the beauty of the building.

Brian D.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, amazing folks pouring it! Please treat yourself to this spot! I'd been meaning to get to the Chinatown location...was at The Broad with my wife and we needed an afternoon fix. Saw this option and headed straight there. A little coffee stand in a beautiful lobby, we were treated to such a warm welcome from Brie and Lee, who not only served amazing coffee but shared a bunch of knowledge with us that was helpful and informative. Arguably the best baristas ever. When we mentioned we were newlyweds, they even poured as all cold brew shots to celebrate. Just utterly wonderful people - and, mind you, we went 10 minutes before close, which would earn the (understandable) evil eye from most folks trying to finish their day. Quite the opposite though...which was really, really nice. So, thanks, Brie and Lee!!! We'll be back for more.

Logan S.

Yelp
Aquarela is a little hidden gem within the CalEdison building, specializing in Brazilian-style coffee. They have their original location in Chinatown that I have yet to venture to but I'm sure it's just as excellent. I am not even sure how I discovered the little spot but I wish that more people would! Every time I go I am impressed with the service and every barista has been extraordinarily friendly. The coffee, in particular the house specials like the Sabotage, prepare me for the day. They also have a few pastries, including pão de queijo, or mini cheesy breads, bite size delights that come with a sweet jam dipping sauce.

Lupe G.

Yelp
Omg! Specialty coffee at its finest! The owners do such an amazing job to bring out the best coffee from Brazil. Lee and B (omg I'm horrible forgot her name) are the best Barista's or as I referred them to "coffee connoisseur's" in LA per say, lol. Great job guys! I went off to the Broad with an amazing cup and so much appreciated Knowledge! These owners know what they are doing and come back personally with best brews! #obrigado

Thom N.

Yelp
A gem. 100% recommended. Beautiful location in the lobby of this classic LA building. Worth visiting for that alone. Coffee is superb. Baked goods are good. Service is fast and friendly, although there can be a line up sometimes. Use the time to gaze upon the beautiful lobby! Pick up some beans while you are here and enjoy a cup at home too.

Natalie C.

Yelp
beautiful place, which typically feels kind of off limits to the general public, to have a unique cup of coffee. incredibly welcoming baristas too!

Alicia L.

Yelp
Hands down best coffee shop in LA! Coffee is sourced straight from Brazil and the staff is the best. They truly make my day!

Anoushka C.

Yelp
If Aquarela has million fans, then I'm one of them. If Aquarela has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE. If Aquarela has no fans, that means I'm dead. The cheese bread is fantastic.

Joe N.

Yelp
Cool spot in the Cal Edison building lobby. Delicious(!) coffee!! I didn't try any food, but it looked and smelled great.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Nice Brazilian specialty coffee and very friendly staff in a beautiful historical building lobby

Jesse D.

Yelp
the sweetest, most kind, down to earth baristas. pls protect them at all cost + gorgeous atmosphere

Kristy L.

Yelp
First time going to this place. Service is nice and fast. The saude latte with oatmilk I got was interesting. And the pao de queijo (cheese bread) I got went well with the sauce too. I will definitely come back again to try other drinks and pastries.

Guilherme B.

Yelp
Went there this morning, ordered 2 coxinhas ,badly microwaved, cold in the middle...30 minutes after pucking my guts off..I feel embarrassed as a brazilian..don't go there! 10 bucks to get sick !:fuckin joke!!!

Vij T.

Yelp
The best coffee shop I have visited in downtown! A few highlights: 1) the interiors of this building are gorgeous, and such a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown 2) service is amazing - the staff allowed us to sample their latest coffee blends, and were patient in explaining the different options on the menu, and 3) the coffee is excellent- I had a simple oat milk latte and my friend tried one of the specialty drinks, and both were delicious. Highly recommend coming here instead of going to the Starbucks across the street!!

Kristen R.

Yelp
The best coffee I have had so far in LA! Friendly service, great product, beautiful building. A must if you are a coffee lover and find yourself in DTLA

Michelle K.

Yelp
Definitely my fav coffee shop in the area. You wouldn't expect to find them, as they're tucked into a lobby with only a sign on the sidewalk to point you inside. Open the doors of the historic Cal Edison building and you're met with floor to ceiling green marble, a beautiful example of class LA Art Deco architecture. And trust me, you won't leave here disappointed as they've got something for everyone. Not only is their coffee delicious, their baristas are unmatched. They're warm and always provide fun conversations. How they can keep a convo going and never mess up a drink is beyond me. If you're lucky, you might even get a sample of one of their drip coffees, which always brightens my day. Lastly, don't forget to try their snacks. My favorite are their croquettes which are similar to the potato balls from that famous LA area Cuban bakery... but 100x better. And they come with hot sauce!
