Great food, service and ambiance. French bistro dishes not seen often were nicely seasoned and plated. Service was professional, and good care was taken with special requests, such as sauce on the side.

If there was a zero rating, I would have selected it. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated since there was hardly anyone in the restaurant during brunch. Our waiter, Jonner, took our order, and I guess since we didn't order a cocktail or two, he decided he was no longer our waiter. Another server served us our food, and the hostess had to refill our sparkling water since the waiter ignored our table altogether. We ordered the duck confit with hash and eggs. The food was greasy and bland. The only thing on the plate that was edible was the sunny side eggs and toast. The price we paid was not worth it and we will never return. Not once did anyone ask how the food and service were, and it shows they didn't care.

I have been coming here for years and the food is always delicious with incredible service. I had my birthday dinner last week there. Bartenders was amazing. Truly love this place!

We had dinner there on 6-18-25 and ordered the Tagliatelle for $28 or $29 dollars. I'm not sure there was $2 worth of food in each entree: 2 cut asparagus spears; 1/3-1/2 cup of petite peas; 6 strands of pasta. The "sauce" was comparable to the juice that comes from a can of peas. The Prosecco and Russian River Chardonnay were flat, obviously from bottles that had been opened and sitting on a shelf for too long. Service was very good. The atmosphere is charming. The food never has been very good, but based on our dinners, it has gotten worse as the prices have increased, which is a very bad ratio--and with a 4% kitchen tax now added.

Stopped by today at 12:00 to check it out for a potential Mother’s Day brunch in May. The host took my reservation and I decided to sit at the bar and explore the menu. I Ordered a lavender French 75 cocktail with gin, lemon, Prosecco, and lavender simple syrup. Perfect blend of sweet and tart. Well poured. The Sweetest bartender attended to me quickly even though I’m a 60+ year old female. I ordered the lemon blueberry crepes with honey and sea salt almond brittle. O. M. G.

Beautiful and elegant restaurant, with a good bar, good acoustics, pleasant music and atmosphere. Very good service, although our waitress did not wear a name tag or mention her name. The menu is a bit limited, not many options. We did not feel like having meat or seafood, so the only entree we could have was cavapati with mushrooms, and it was greasy. The portions were relatively small and the prices were relatively high. So overall not amazing but pleasant, nice experience.

Went for Sunday brunch reservation at 12:45pm and sat at a four top table outside. Food was good but service was extremely slow and disjointed. Asked for cream and sugar with my hot coffee that never arrived. My friend actually went inside on two separate occasions to find our server who didn’t check in on us after we ordered our food. The manager came to help assist but didn’t actually know the items on the menu….Brought a 2nd cup of coffee because the first got cold waiting for cream and sugar. French toast came without syrup, no ketchup served with side order of fries and no salt and pepper on table or offered. When waiter did come back he only asked one of us if we wanted a 2nd round of drinks. It was an odd experience to say the least. It was really not that busy for things to get so lost in the sauce. Will think twice about returning here.

Google
So-called "kitchen appreciation fee" automatically included in a bill is an insult! It's a cost of doing business, just like any other operating expense and should not be added on as a separate fee. Just as I avoid hotels that tack on a resort fee or destination surcharge, I avoid restaurants like this and will not go back. This is an average restaurant and not worth going back to. Plenty of other expensive restaurants that do better, and do not tack on this kind of nuisance fee!

Yelp
I am so sorry to write a poor review for a restaurant that I genuinely love. I am extremely disappointed with the service that my party received while dining at this restaurant. Aquitaine in South End? A must! This location... poor service from the waitstaff. Manager is great, though. My mom and I walked in for brunch on a weekend- it was not too packed, a few tables were occupied but overall not too busy. We waited at the host stand for about 5-7 minutes before anybody acknowledged us, while waiters were all around us the entire time. We don't mind waiting, but it is common courtesy to let us know that you will get to us. Complete ignorance is not sufficient. After waiting a few minutes, we were finally seated and got comfortable in our seats. We took off our jackets, drank some water, started browsing the menus. All of a sudden, a waitress came over and abruptly snatched (yes, snatched) our menus from under us and loudly stated that she was going to move us because she did not want to walk all the over to our table. I am an understanding person, maybe it's hard for her to walk, that's ok. But there is no situation where it is justified to snatch menus from customers and move us so sharply without our say. She could have asked us, explained the situation, and we would have happily moved. It was very disrespectful. After we were moved to our new table, she took our orders and stood by our table for one hour. No food for an hour. I was shocked. What shocked me even more though, was that the table beside us also did not get their food for a long time, and the same waitress was making comments to them. I called the manager over and explained the situation, she was very courteous, apologized, and took the meal off the tab, which my party appreciated. I will not give up on this Aquitaine location.

Yelp
The best burgers here . I get the burgers here for my husband and I . They are fresh and tasty . The vibe is great. The service is excellent. They have a parking lot they'd share with other vendors so parking is not an issue .

Jim M.

Yelp
Solid French bistro. Service is good. Ambiance is nice. Food is good not great. Overall, a decent experience

Yelp
Horrible experience in the Chestnut Hill Restaurant. Went to take my daughter for Brunch on her 40th birthday. The restaurant had two very large parties of 25 people each. We waited over an hour for our food and when it arrived it was cold. Ask that the manager Alexandra to come to the table and she refused. I asked the waiter to bring me a hot eggs Benedict and waited another 35 minutes. So frustrated I walked out never to return. My wife who eats there on a regular basis called to speak with Alexandra letter in the day and explained she eats there often and explained that if they couldn't get the food out then they shouldn't have taken the reservation. My wife told her she'll think about coming back and Alexandra said she didn't care. Is this how the owner treats his guest???? I guess so!!!

Dan T.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. This was the worst dining experience at a supposedly good restaurant we had ever had Everything about our time there was HORRIBLE. Bad food Horrible service Inept management It was so bad my wife never ate anything and I had to make her an omelet when we got back home So the night: Ordered a bottle of wine. Waiter poured glasses and then took the bottle back to the bar and recorked it. Finally came back and put the corked bottle on the table (?????) Salad was inedible as the dressing was way over salted Likewise the risotto was also way too salty The filet ordered medium arrived well done. Was sent back and told "5 minutes" - 20 minutes later a filet finally arrived and it was rare. We alerted our waiter who said "It's not my fault" Are you serious? Asked for manager who comes over and starts the apologizing. We are done and just want to leave. We say we are going to drink our wine and leave. 5 minutes later manager comes back with 2 of the wait staff and basically tells them to apologize. Is this kindergarten? The last thing we wanted at that point was forced insincere apologies. And it gets worse. When confronted by saying "It's not my fault" the waiter doubled down and said "I didn't say that!" We got up and just walked out. We will never be back

Yelp
It's a good place for those who like old fashioned food. The place is great and service is excellent.

Yelp
Came here for a lunch special similar to Panera, half sandwich half soup with a side salad. Service was awesome, the waitress was so friendly and even recommended their Mediterranean chain across the street from the Boston Aquitaine location. The sandwich was crispy and delicious, pea soup was a healthy option. Not overpriced and it was an enjoyable light lunch after the gym.

Michelle C.

Yelp
*lunch pick up* The new renovations look great. Seems more spacious and light and also outdoor seating (only open for a couple more weeks). They have a nice high privacy bush/fence and space heaters outside. The turkey club was good and I really liked the herb aioli, wish there was but more turkey in there but was full on half the sandwich. It traveled very well and didn't get soggy. LE TURKEY CLUB Oven Roasted Turkey, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Herb Aioli, Hand Cut Fries $15.75 Not sure when they started serving lunch but it's open 11:30- 3:00 mon - sat Just saw this on their site. I didn't get the dessert but ...maybe it's dinner only? "Please call and place your take-out order directly at 617-734-8400 and receive a COMPLEMENTARY DESSERT with your order. " Lots of parking but it's always pretty full in front.

Scott O.

Yelp
Aquitaine provided a delightful Sunday brunch experience. The beautiful decor and amazing food, especially the traditional eggs Benedict, left a lasting impression. The Bellinis were a delightful addition to the meal. The service was top-notch, adding to the overall enjoyment of the experience. I would highly recommend Aquitaine for a memorable brunch outing. I wish I took pictures but the whole experience made me lose focus on anything but the food, friends and atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.

david l.

Yelp
Great brunch spot. The food was great and service was outstanding. Its located in a strip mall that has ample parking, which is a plus.

Jennine T.

Yelp
This restaurant has changed a lot since I last ate here. I don't like it anymore. the food and service are mediocre and the prices are high.

Sofjola B.

Yelp
The worst food of my life. Please stay away from this place. Meat came out raw, duck was old and brown, fries were dried. Please stay away from

Erik D.

Yelp
Poor service, we waited close to thirty minutes before our food order was taken and then it took forever to get said food. Squash bisque was mediocre, tasting more like pea soup and wasn't creamy. Venison meat had no taste and was over seared. The gratin dauphinois was good however. This place used to be a staple, now it's a has been.

Judy M.

Yelp
Use to be excellent, not good anymore but still has the high prices. Chicken in chicken entree was decent but the zucchini that accompanied it was gross. My husband's steak and fries were cold. The Parisian apple cake had a dollop of sour cream not whipped cream (or maybe their whipped cream was bad). The molten chocolate pudding cake was essentially a cold brownie with vanilla ice cream on top. Coffee was good. We won't be returning.

Sheri F.

Yelp
Unfortunately this restaurant has gone way down hill. The service is terrible and the food is not anywhere up to par what it used to be. Very unfortunate!!

Lidia S.

Yelp
When making reservations, I was surprised at first that there was a table available every 15 minutes on a Friday night. Sort of made me think that maybe this restaurant isn't all that great. However, we needed up having a wonderful night. The food was excellent! We ordered the pate special as an appetizer, which was very good. And for entrees, I had the Chicken Roti and my friend ordered the Coq Au Vain. Both were so tasty and comforting. We also had an awesome server. She was just a pleasure - very attentive, knowledgable. I spent the next day telling everyone how good of an experience I had at Aquitaine :)

Charlotte C.

Yelp
I had dinner at this restaurant in the evening. Our group sat outdoors. We order the French onion soup and the salmon. The French onion soup was really good it had a lot of cheese and it was a rich slightly salty broth. The salmon was alright. Nothing special but I would say it's not worth the price. At night, I became the main entrée for the mosquitoes. I would recommend sitting indoors for dinner.

Laura C.

Yelp
Been here many times and has always been a good experience but dinner tonight was dreadful...poor service, waitstaff was both inattentive and unpleasant; terrible meal (new eggplant dish). A real disappointment.

H S.

Yelp
I've been to Aquitaine Boston dozens of times over the past many years with great experiences. Aquitaine Chestnut Hill is nothing like their Boston location. Diet Coke served completely flat. When we complained we were told that their carbonator was not working. So if your carbonator is not working then when a customer asks for soda say "I'm sorry, soda is not available at this Aquitaine location at the present time." Or else go 100 feet down the strip mall to the Stop & Shop and buy a bottle of Diet Coke. If you don't have enough staff to actually chop lettuce and have to use pre-chopped lettuce then either take salad off the menu or make someone pick out all the brown ones before you serve it even if it means throwing away half of the bits. Making the customer pick out the brown ones isn't good. (Or just go down to the salad bar at Stop & Shop where they don't serve brown lettuce.) My friend ordered the omelette that was supposed to come with gruyere cheese and truffle oil. She got a very flat plain omelette with neither cheese nor truffle oil and had to send it back. What she got back the second time around was very good. The salad with the first serving was undressed and she had to request that they serve dressed salad. This restaurant needs a manager present on site.

Alan E G.

Yelp
extremely overpriced but the food is good. Wish they would do something about their prices.

Haley E.

Yelp
The place was super cute inside. Our server was also super nice but there was two large parties before us so we had to wait a while to be seated. The food was super good though. Everyone loved the truffle aioli. The only thing I will say is that the sides were decently expensive for a very small quantity.

Julia B.

Yelp
Have been a loyal customer until last night. New greeter and manger who clearly can not manage much. Requested our usual booth when we made the reservation weeks ago, and were denied, and told the restaurant was "a full house" that night and they needed to hold the booths for parties of 4. It is too bad that a party of TWO were seated at the very same time as us(2), and the other booths stayed empty the whole time we were there. Full house? Try 1/2 full, if that. Manager gave some sad excuse that they did not want to " rush us", but had no answer for why they sat two patrons in a booth and not us. By the time we decide to return years from now, the pathetic greeter and manager will be long gone anyway.

Ron J.

Yelp
Great visit last evening to Aquitaine. I was so glad to see that they're back to being open til 10 o'clock on the weekends. Food remains solid and some newer menu items like the tart appetizer and ravioli are keeping the place fresh. Great food, great service, great vibe gets 5 stars.

Bill K.

Yelp
Well, went for my daughter's BC graduation. Was a Mon night, so there's that. Worst service I've ever seen. Waitress in training had no basic understanding of how to serve. Didn't say, "Hello, and welcome ...". First thing out of her mouth: you want sparkling or still water? Went downhill from there. Training waiter didn't know what he was doing either. The table next to us got their entire meal comp'ed due to poor service. I wasn't so lucky. To all waiters out there: always be cheerful, never let a drink go entpy, and manage your time. That includes not flirting with the other wiaters when you're working. Pretty basic stuff. Stay away from this place. Maybe weekends are better (?), but I doubt it.

Marc D.

Yelp
Excellent meal and the special was sardines . Good quality bread and a nice crème brûlée to top it of

Sara A.

Yelp
I've been going to the one on Tremont St for years and was excited when they opened this one. It has more seating and even though we came for Sunday brunch, it wasn't packed which was nice. Service was prompt and courteous and food was delicious! Ordered the special for the day, which was the frittata, even though I usually get the smoked salmon benedict, which I also highly recommend. Doesn't disappoint and will go back for more!

Thomas A.

Yelp
No complaints here. This place seems to have been renovated for the better. The moules (mussels) were solid though the sauce was a bit too creamy for my taste. The steak frites were on point though. Solid food. Wine selections seem decent too. Like the ambiance; it has its dark tones so it can be like an old school business meeting setting, or a romantic date spot.

Dave G.

Yelp
Good was great, good service and affordable price. I had a pisco and scallop both were very excellent. I'd come back again

John W.

Yelp
Avoid. Unwelcoming. Poor service. Food disappointing. We arrived on time for our reservation, was seated by a cold hostess near the back corner at a table that could barely fit two plates, placed our orders from the menu in about 10 minutes and rarely saw our waitress again. A little over 60 minutes later we were served our food - hot and dry - like pre-made, previously frozen re-heated food, or food that sat under heat lamps for 50 minutes. The server explained the food took long because there was a large group being served as well. Why take our reservation if they can't handle the additional customers? We would have walked out but there was a $60 table reservation deposit that we risked losing. I guess people must have walked out a lot of the time, or not cared about being a no show because the place was nothing special, thus necessitating the $60 table deposit.

Maggie O.

Yelp
Took a dear friend here to celebrate a milestone birthday and everything was fabulous. Greeted warmly when we arrived and happy to get a great table. Were clear that we wanted to take our time and enjoy the meal and this was no problem. Waitstaff were friendly yet very professional and helpful. Escargot were the wondeful combo of garlic and butter you dream about. I had scallops which we perfect and a generous serving of four large scallops. My guest had sole meunière and raved. We declined dessert but were gifted a birthday dessert of profiteroles with a birthday candle. A lovely and celebratory evening. I look forward to returning!

Barbara M.

Yelp
I was disappointed for the second time in a month or so, to have a dinner that was average at best. Mussels were so tiny they should have served a microscope with them. The Miso Mushroom Cavatelli lacked taste and both of us in the party who had it said they would not recommend it. While the waitress was attentive and responsive it was clear she was pretty stressed. I do not plan on returning.

Eric G.

Yelp
My wife made the reservation for 6:15. Upon arriving, the restaurant was at least 2/3 empty. She and I were surprised as they take your credit card at the time of reservation and will charge you $30 if you don't show up. Very odd for a suburban restaurant and a turn off. Maybe I could understand this behavior in a busy Boston restaurant? The ambience is a very dark place which is very loud even with only a few patrons. I had to turn my cell light on in order to read the menu. While reading the menu I noticed in the tiniest print at the bottom that they charge a 3% fee on top of your meal (before tax and tip) for their kitchen staff so that they earn a "livable wage". So why can't the restaurant pay their kitchen staff a livable wage? This is disgusting. PAY YOUR STAFF WHAT THEY DESERVE! What this tells me is that on slow nights the kitchen staff don't get paid enough. If I had known this, then I would never have come to this restaurant! The service was good and prompt. The food was satisfactory. We started with escargot which were very small and the toast were so hard that they may be liable if someone breaks a tooth. All the dinners we had were small portions. The scallops were average. My wife said the duck was good and my mother said the steak frite was tough and chewy. This restaurant has really declined. I won't go back here. Not worth the high price.

Yelp
Delicious and good service Will return Pleasant evening Helpful waitstaff Quite busy

l m.

Yelp
We were seated promptly for our 6:45 reservations. Most of the tables were empty. It's now 7:56...finally told there was an oversight in the kitchen and our order was not made. Received our dishes...the NY sirloin was COLD; the rainbow trout over cooked. This place has gone downhill. Nothing could have fixed this. The manager just kept apologizing but just couldn't get it right. Left without the meal. This place used to be my favorite. Happy Mother's Day, y'all. Eat anywhere but here.

Reginald A.

Yelp
Mediocre. Escargots was extremely salty, French fries were below any expectations. Shattered glass was on the floor and some plates were chipped. For the price, I'd expect better. Although, I must note that the service was decent and the dessert was excellent (for which I give 2 stars).

Teddi D.

Yelp
We went to Aquitaine on a Wednesday night, our reservation was early but there was nobody else there. The waiter placed a plate on the table and said this was a treat from the kitchen, they were 3 tiny dough like bites - 2 the size of a nickel and 1 the size of a dime. Then out came the bread for 3, it was the size of what you would expect for one person. it was not sliced and no sharp knife was given to us. When ordering I asked if I could switch my side (kale) to the side (cabbage)that came with the special, I was told it was only for the special. I asked if I could switch my potato purée with another potato and was told it would be $3 upcharge. I stuck with the kale which was too bitter and the potato purée that tasted like instant potatoes. Very disappointing meal. In this day where restaurants are trying to stay afloat I would think they would be more accommodating.

Martha N.

Yelp
Very disappointing meal Schnitzel too thin, burnt and leather like. We would have returned it but it took 45 minutes to arrive. Two sprigs of watercress with 4 asparagus tips was the "salad. " The Sauvignon Blanc was mediocre and expensive I have always loved having Schnitzel here- but never again.

Kim C.

Yelp
We've been to the one in South End for brunch and it wasn't bad so we decided to give this place a try. Was pretty disappointed at the quality of food and service. We were seated fairly quickly for Sunday at 1pm. I think we caught the tail end of the brunch rush. We ordered the French onion soup, avocado toast, peach crepe, and huervos rancheros. I don't know if they were running low on cheese today bit the French onion soup only had a couple morsels and was way too salty. The huervos rancheros had basically no cheese in it either. The avocado toast and peach crepe were better but the portions were tiny, definitely appetizer sized for an entree price. What was really bizarre was we had no idea who our waiter was. I'm pretty sure we had 4 different waiters come by and got asked multiple times in the beginning if we've ordered. I don't know if there were any specials that day either because between the many waiters no one said anything. Between the confusing service and mediocre food, I don't know if I'd want to come back to this location.

Megan B.

Yelp
Oh, I wanted to like this. I used to go the one in the South End all the time when we lived nearer there. We arrived for brunch at 12:30 on a Sunday (with a reservation) and the service was so, so slow-- the food didn't come until at least 1:30. The restaurant was probably 2/3 empty but the kitchen was just very behind. Even the drinks (nothing complicated) took like 20 minutes to appear. The waitstaff was clearly harried and not particularly helpful (though to be fair the people at the table next to us were being extremely rude about the long wait). The food was OK, but not worth the wait. Also, the rear patio is nice, but be warned that the umbrellas don't fully cover all of the tables-- several people in our party were baking in the summer sun while waiting.

Victoria T.

Yelp
Service was good. The food was fine, but the menu was really boring. Just expected more for the price tag.

Michael D.

Yelp
Service was OK. Not excellent, but given the shorthanded staff let's not be too picky. The meal was fantastic. French onion soup is classic and a good sized portion. Pate was also traditional, and tasty. Nicely done. Schnitzel topped with a perfectly sunny side up fried egg on top was light, crispy, served with a wonderful butter sauce. The greens were fresh. Add the roasted mushrooms for a treat. The roasted chicken dish is also a well cooked and flavorful dish. Unique as well as classic cocktails. Don't skip these. Nice wine list, but I just call for the varietal and they always have a nice selection. Unless you really want creme brûlée I suggest going to JP Licks for ice cream and a stroll.

Duanje D.

Yelp
Started with a delicious cocktail follow by escargot. Not bad. I would have preferred untoasted bread to soak up the juices. I had a disappointing truffle burger which was absolutely not medium rare. IMO the burger was a little small. Ok, lets pick through the frtites to find those that are not overcooked and dry. An unremarkable meal. My friend's Nicoise tasted like canned tuna. Unbelieveable ! Tried to recover with the profiteroles. The pastry was dry and tasted old. Fine. Let's end with an espresso. The cup and oversize saucer did not match. The service was congenial and an excellent New Zealand white was recommended for the Nicoise. Nice work. Probably won't return.

Michael A.

Yelp
Obviously it is a challenging time and especially on Valentine's Day. I ordered takeout from the very well designed website and efficient ordering process. I received a text saying my order would be ready at 5:20 PM and I would receive a text when it was actually ready. I sat outside the door till 540 then went in to inquire. I'm glad I did because my food was ready but I never got the text. Besides that small detail aqua is a great restaurant. If I were the owner I'd want to know the good and he almost good. Bon appétit

Antony D.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch before a movie. Service was slow and the restaurant empty. Ordered the Truffle burger medium rare, it arrive medium well and overly salty. The French fries were an insult to the French. My companion ordered the Frittata and it was bland. $7.50 for 2 slices of bacon added insult to injury. Come on Aquitaine Group, things have started to slide.

Blair H.

Yelp
Never been here despite the fact that I've lived in the area forever and its been around for a long time. Man, what a letdown. I don't know if I just ordered the wrong thing, but the duck a l'orange was just terrible. Flavorless. No hint of sauce as stated on the menu. Uninspiring sides. The only reason I didn't send it back was because I didn't feel like waiting for a different entree to be made for me. I ate half and just took the L. Big letdown. French onion soup was also not so great. Essentially the broth itself lacked any true flavor. Very bland. The cheese was just okay. The bread and onion were the only parts I truly enjoyed. They do a better job with this soup across the street at the Capital Grille. Creme brulee was.........creme brulee. A pretty standard quality offering of it. I would have liked more berries. I don't know why so many restaurants skimp on berries. A sliver of a single strawberry and 4 blueberries. Come on guys.... Also regarding desserts they were just spoken to us. I hate this. Just give us a physical dessert menu so we can read it and think about it instead of having to essentially decide on the spot. So uncomfortable and you can't really make a proper decision by hearing a list and having to pick on the spot. My GF said her salmon was a bit salty. She ate it all but wasn't impressed. French bread in a plastic bag is a good idea in terms of keeping it warm but then when we finished the bread they just kept the bag on the table and never took it off. (It was clearly empty.) I had to fold it up and tuck it away. Whipped butter was yummy. Little cheese puffs are a cute idea but so small it's like how about maybe a few more than two super tiny ones?! My server was lovely. No issues there. Just a really kind man. However the server at the table next to us was way too loud and it really annoyed us several times as I'm trying to have a romantic night out with my GF and she's getting startled by the server yelling and laughing directly next to us. Perhaps this place was once great. But reading the recent reviews on here that certainly is not current the case. Or maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Who knows.

D S.

Yelp
The lobster bisque was inedible. It tasted spoiled. Very slow service for lunch. Not impressed

Veronica T.

Yelp
Disappointed with service. Went for Father's Day dinner. We were promptly seated. Two of five of us ordered an appetizer. The French Onion Soup and Kale salad. They were fine. Thank goodness we received a french baguette because our main meal did not come out for 45 minutes. The table of two next to us arrived 15 minutes after us. They got appetizers. They were finished with their meals, including dessert before our meals arrived. The waiter never came to check on us. I had to request what was happening with our main courses? No apologies or explanations for why our meals were taking so long. We had to request our water glasses to be re-filled; that should be standard service without the need to request. We noticed the table of two was given a card to leave any comments for the restaurant. Not surprised, our waiter didn't offer that opportunity to us. Won't be returning to this restaurant.

Yelp
A little perplexed by the large number of periodically mediocre or poor reviews. Hmm, maybe conditions vary based on the month, chef, server, etc. In other words, maybe the place is *inconsistent.* In our case, we went for Sat brunch, and everything was excellent. All the food--every dish, morsel--good. Not out-of-this-world, as in some Michelin starred restaurant, perhaps, but--just really, unimpeachably good bistro food. Incidentally, their standard fries, prepared with a particular hint of truffle, are some of the best I've tried in MA. I've eaten at plenty of great restaurants (including some transplendent ones, hifalutin or under-the-radar), and know quality cuisine. So, surprising some reviewers found the cooking mediocre. The drinks were good. The waiter was really professional, attentive, nice. The atmosphere was nice. No complaints. A fine time had by all. I guess--roll the dice, and try the brunch.

Yelp
We ate a late lunch @2:30 so place was pretty Empty. Service was lovely - appropriate and not fussy. My husband ordered the french onion soup and loved it. He orders it as often as he can and is disappointed a lot! This was one of his favorites. Beefy broth arrived hot and stayed hot until finished. The bread in the soup tasted home made and was perfect with the cheese. I had the duck sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. The duck was cooked well (confit) and was perfect with the sour cherry jam. I read alot of negative reviews about this place, but am glad we ventured in. Maybe dinner service is different, but we will come back for lunch!
