The Last of Rome’s Family-Run Trattorias | Eater

"Set down a small staircase into a 1924 grotto in Garbatella, this unabashedly Roman trattoria presents shiny tiled walls, an arched ceiling lined with wrought-iron shelving of olive oil and wine, and red-and-white tablecloths; food is even passed through a small kitchen window. Founded by grandparents in 1967 and now run by siblings and their father (a former mover who inspired the name), the place is staunchly traditional—still once-listed with a simple price list until recently—and celebrates canonical dishes such as coda alla vaccinara while resisting major modernization (though Wi‑Fi has been discussed)." - Eric J. Very nice typical Roman restaurant. It’s always a pleasure dine here! The food is simple and tasty, strongly linked with traditional recipes. The atmosphere is familiar, easy, friendly so don’t expect fine glasses or fancy tablecloths, in this restaurant what really matter is food! I was there with a couple of friends and we had great time

Such a lovely place! Typical roman food in a warm and cosy atmosphere. The place is tiny, so you definitely need to book your table, but worth a try if you are in Rome! The portion are huge, so be prepared for it. Food is delicious, with different kind of pasta and other dishes taken from the roman tradition. Loved it!

One of the most amazing trattorias I have ever been. We asked for house wine and he gave us a litre of simple but awesome wine. We had pasta amatriciana and liver with onions and couple of other dishes. Everything was sublime. Service was great. Crowd was local and noisey. Service was quick and nice. Loved it!!

A neighborhood restaurant frequented by i locali, serving traditional Roman dishes done well and without fuss. The primi pasta dishes are *chefs kiss * bellissimo!

One of the best traditional roman restaurant in this area. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The pasta dishes have very generous portions (200 gr.) but you can always order an half-portion (100 gr.). Try the polpette al sugo (meatballs with tomato sauce), they taste like when my nonna did them when I was a child.

Amazing traditional Roman restaurant. It was recommended to me by my Airbnb host and it was worth it! If you are taking the pasta I recommend having the half portion cause portions are really really generous! And the tiramisu is worth taking even if you feel full!

Google
Local restaurant where they only serve pasta and meat, the staff didn't really care about our table and the food was average at best.

Yelp
Great authentic Roman cuisine!! Tripe, nerves, ox tail pasta, carbonara pasta, gricia pasta, amatriciana pasta, etc. Delicious. Space is tight though. But doesn't retract from the authentic Roman atmosphere.

Yelp
Eccelente todo! Food was amazing, hospitality was great. They didn't speak a word of English which I loved. Why? Because this is an authentic Italian restaurant that had true Italian cooking and not knock offs. Would go there again and recommend others to go!
