8 Brilliant Ramen Restaurants in the Seattle Area

"Founded in Tukwila and expanded to Ballard, Arashi focuses on the tonkotsu-style ramen associated with the island of Kyushu in southern Japan. The porky broth is available in shio (salt), shoyu (soy sauce), miso, and spicy miso varieties, and black garlic is a good twist to the tonkotsu miso option. It doesn’t say on the menu, but you can (and should) customize your noodles’ firmness. Ask for firm (katamen) or extra firm (barikata) to avoid the default overcooking to slightly soft." - Jay Friedman

Japanese Restaurant Aki Kushiyaki in Madison Valley Plans to Open March 5 | Eater Seattle

"I note that Arashi Ramen is described as a popular Tukwila and Ballard destination and that the team behind it is opening Aki Kushiyaki, shifting from noodle dishes to an upscale kushiyaki omakase format." - Gabe Guarente

This was some of the best ramen I've had! They really are masters of their craft, and we can't wait to eat here again. They have a lot of great options to choose from where they summer their broth for 16 hours! My partner adored his, and they had a fantastic vegetarian option for me!

Glen T.

Google
A delicious meal. Simply superb with zero negative critiques. I ordered Tantan Men, specifically for the thick noodles. They were incredible and the broth was sensational. So good that I returned 3 days later to eat the same meal again. Will be back for 3rd visit soon!

Google
This cozy ramen place was a perfect first introduction to Japanese ramen, especially since it offers vegetarian options. I went in without any expectations, but the vegetarian ramen was a pleasant surprise because the broth was incredibly creamy and packed with savory flavor

Google
The food was decent. The tonkatsu salt broth was a little bland. Next time I will get soy sauce flavor. The gyōzas were good. The karage had a good flavor but the chicken was pretty chewy. The curry rice bowl was really tasty with just the right amount of spice. We were disappointed that we got a can of soda with no free refills. The reason for one less star is because the service wasn't great. She wasn't friendly and we spoke Japanese and she didn't know what we said and pronounced the name of the restaurant incorrectly. Maybe it's just us but if you work at a Japanese restaurant, you should, at least, pronounce the words right. Decent tasting food, although a bit pricey. If you don't mind spending more for less, this is a good place to eat.

Google
Their spicy miso ramen is my favorite! I recommend getting extra chashu. My takeout experience was seamless. Food was hot and ready when expected. Packed with care.

Google
This is my go-to spot for vegetarian ramen! It’s very flavorful compared to other vegetarian ramens in Seattle & Bellevue, so I was pleasantly surprised. The takoyaki here was amazing as well; there were 2 pieces of octopus in each takoyaki & the sauce on top was creamy! Staff were very friendly and food was spectacular, 10/10 I recommend this place.

🍜 Ramen Spot Review 📝 Things Tried: • Edamame • Honey Garlic Karaage Chicken • Spicy Miso Ramen • Vegan Ramen ⸻ 🔥 Verdict: • 🥢 Edamame – A simple, fresh start. Lightly salted and dependable, though nothing extraordinary. • 🍗 Karaage Chicken – The star of the show. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and that honey-garlic glaze was downright addictive. • 🌶️ Spicy Miso Ramen – Rich, bold, and comforting. The broth had just the right kick, the chashu was tender, and the noodles were spot on. • 🌱 Vegan Ramen – Surprisingly flavorful. The broth had depth, and the toppings were generous — a great option even if you’re not vegan. ⸻ ✨ Overall: Quick service ✅ No-frills, cozy vibe ✅ Food that hits all the right notes ✅ One of those hidden gems you try once, then keep coming back to without even thinking. A go-to ramen fix.

Google
The food was really tasty but the portion size for the price was a little off... I would have liked to have a bit more ramen for the price. The music was very loud. One of the servers was moderately personable, but the other server was unfriendly borderline rude. I don't like that in America we are forced to tip even if the service is bad. I left wondering if it was worth all the money. So that's my honest review of arashi ramen southcenter.

Yelp
I had to come back to Arashi Ramen after I went into a hiatus from ramen. I was doing Uber Eats deliveries around Tukwila, so I thought I'd stop by this restaurant again to get some much needed protein and craving. I ordered the popular appetizers Takoyaki & Honey Kaarage (instead of the plain flavor) and R-5 Arashi Ramen. I was here on a Tuesday, so the restaurant was empty (perfect setting for me). The service was certainly fast and efficient. After my lunch, I was happy and full.

Yelp
Food: Black Garlic Ramen(thin noodles)- Broth not too thick. Could have had a little more garlic flavor (requested spice on the side) still tasty and filling. Chicken Karaage: tender with a light crunch! Only thing missing was a dipping sauce. Service: efficient and friendly. Atmosphere: they definitely fit as many tables in the space that they have (somewhat packed but manageable)

Yelp
I recently visited Arashi Ramen on an early Friday afternoon and had a great experience! The place was crowded, but our party of four was seated surprisingly quickly. I ordered the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu, which was delicious. Even at the highest spice level, the heat was perfectly tolerable and really hit the spot on a cold day. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the broth was flavorful, though not quite as rich and thick as I remember from past visits. I also noticed there wasn't as much meat this time around. Overall, still a delicious bowl of ramen, just missing a bit of the "wow" factor I've experienced before.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff were very welcoming and helped us determine what ramen we would like best. The ramen that I ate reminded me of the places I dined in Japan! I highly recommend the miso ramen; it was absolutely delicious and I couldn't eat enough! I will definitely be returning and am excited to try other types of ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
Arashi is my favorite ramen place in Seattle! Usually I get the Shio ramen and stick to that. The black garlic ramen is a little too heavy for my taste but I still enjoy it! Service is always fast and I appreciate the quick turnaround. The ambiance is quiet and cozy with Japanese music playing in the background. My partner and I will drive 30 mins to come eat
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Its been years since I last reviewed this place and coming back after a while, this place still is one of my favorites. My friends and I were craving ramen and I suggested Arashi Ramen. Their taste still remains great with a good portion of condiments provided in the dish. The black garlic is bold throughout the dish. I will say parking has been less hectic here as it used to. They kicked us out after being there for just an hour an a half as they had people coming. The 30 extra minutes we talked but due to how small the place is, understandable for them to kick us out. Overall, I recommend this place.
google avatar

Harshmeet S.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite. I have tried the one in Ballard and also now the one in tukwilla. The place had plenty of seating when we went on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. We were seated pretty quickly and we ordered the spicy miso ramen and also pork gyoza. The ramen was as usual amazing and very tasty. The service was also pretty good, everything was amazing. The place has plenty of parking around as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Sometimes great, sometimes good food. Never disappointed. Always very polite service. Ramen arrived before the appetizer. Nice place for a quick drop in meal. Small quaint place, nothing amazing but good.
google avatar

Catherine T.

Yelp
Hands down the best ramen in the area! Service is very fast -- food comes out within 10 minutes of ordering. Like other reviewers mentioned, there is a waitlist where you'll need to write your name down. Thankfully, it isn't too busy during weeknight dinners, so I've never had to wait. The ramen is amazing here! For a light broth, I'd recommend the shoyu ramen. If you're interested in something a bit more oily and flavorful, the black garlic oil ramen is very tasty. They also offer other non-ramen options. I've only tried the curry which was large and simple.
google avatar

Marah H.

Yelp
The food is incredible... but the service lacks in many ways. There's a waitlist which is a chaotic mess because some names are crossed off and others aren't leaving you to wonder who's monitoring the list. Nobody greets you when you walk in and once you put your name on the list you have no idea how long it could be. Fortunately, we've been here before and my wife was a server for a long stint so she knows the drill. On a busy Saturday, in a very small restaurant (approx. 10 tables) we waited for about 25 min during lunchtime. We both ordered spicy ramen which was very good and we enjoyed our meal before heading out. This is not the restaurant where you should sit at chat for 45 min because there is a long constant waitlist and limited seating. Again the food is great, but I'm glad I only come here annually.

Yelp
I was really jonesing some good noodles / ramen and came here on my way to SEA TAC airport based off the Yelp reviews. The inside is mostly light wood, small and intimate. The service was great and servers continually stopped by to check on things. I had the pictured ramen (delicious & perfect portion size) and also some Karage Chicken, which I demolished before remembering to take a picture. It's served with salt to dip it in, but I requested spicy mayo and they quickly made some up for me. It's just a block or two away from the Doubletree where I was staying, so I will certainly be back in a few weeks!

Yelp
Feeling eating ramen in south center area. No line today, lucky us. After we ordered, the line starts. Parking: plenty free parking on shared complex. Restroom: individual male and female restroom We ordered: 4 combo: Spicy miso + salad + karaage Black garlic + salad + takoyaki Miso + salad + honey garlic karaage Tan tan ramen + salad + gyoza A bit in the salty side for me. And the spicy miso is really spicy, I ordered the medium. I had to move the noddle to one of ramen , I can't eat it. Restaurant is clean. Service is friendly and fast. Ramen always good for rainy day.
google avatar

Iris C.

Yelp
Arashi is one of my favorite ramen spots. The spicy miso tonkotsu is one of my favorites, along with the spicy tantan men. The black garlic is also good. All of the apps are good but my favorite are the gyoza and salad. I like adding the combo to my meal, it's a good deal if you don't want an entire app. The salad dressing I could drink, delicious. Service is good and the decor is nice. I love the art.
google avatar

Yin K.

Yelp
First time here for late lunch on a cold wet Saturday. I got the spicy miso ramen, hot spicy level. I grew up eating spicy food, and this is definitely hot but still manageable. So if you have never actually had asian level hot, don't underestimate it. The soup base is definitely pretty flavorful, noodle is nice and still somewhat chewy (exactly how I like it). Server constantly comes by to refill water without needing us to ask for it. Great experience and decent food.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best ramen places here in the PNW! Reminds us of the ones we had in Japan! The Spicy Tan Tan Min is my husband's favorite! He loves the ground pork that they use. I love the Shoyu ramen with the thicker noodles. The chasu pork is perfect and the egg is cooked to perfection! You also need to try the honey garlic karaage! Oh my gosh...that is so amazing! And if ramen is not your thing...the curry bowl is amazing! I love the flavor of their curry! Either way...anything you get from here, you can't go wrong! It all is amazing!
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Best ramen I've had since I moved to Washington. The service was also really great. The kids menu had instructions for an origami crane and the servers provided them with origami paper. The small atmosphere of the shop also helped with the ambiance. Great restaurant all around.
google avatar

Denise T.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Reminds me of the ramen shops in Japan. I always order their miso tonkotsu- partially because I prefer miso ramen but also because it's the only thing I get that's consistently good. Their chashu is perfect- not chewy and just melts. Broth is packed with flavor. Noodles are al dente.
google avatar

Alfred L.

Yelp
We ordered the arashi ramen and miso ramen. The arashi ramen was great! Broth wasn't too salty, great portions of meat. Literally melt-in-your-mouth fatty goodness. Noodles were a little softer than al dente. And the egg was cooked pretty much spot on. The miso ramen was almost just as good. The broth was significantly saltier than the arashi, almost needing to take sips of water in between each bite.
google avatar

Huizi L.

Yelp
We went there two years ago and had a pretty disappointing experience with super salty and unflavorful broth. During an errand run yesterday we decided to give it another chance bc we hunger And lo it's actually decent. Ask for lo sodium tho it's still better. Flavorful broth and eggs cooked just right, not too runny but soft and tangy
google avatar

dave c.

Yelp
The food was mediocre, as was the service. It's just a chain restaurant level of poorly constructed ramen. It was a gut bomb both times I went in a week's period.
google avatar

T M.

Yelp
Good food and nice workers but my complaint is the fact that I watched them clean up dirty dishes , dig into the cash register and then serve food all without cleaning their hands or changing the nitrile gloves some of them were wearing. For all I know , they wear the same gloves all day long and the one who doesn't hasn't washed her hands the entire time I've been here
google avatar

Deb A.

Yelp
I got arashi ramen on my way to the airport on a drizzly day. It was perfect and hits the spot. Service was quick. The broth was not too salty but had the umami yumminess, thin noodles were aldente. The pork belly were thin but I got 3 pieces and half an egg . Id recommended this place .
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
The service was fast and our food arrived quickly and was delicious. Not a huge menu, this place is authentic and designed for folks who know their ramen! I ordered the veggie ramen bowl with tofu and it was delicious.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Last meal on my last trip to Seattle and it exceeded everyone's expectations. I came with a few of my cousins and everyone's bowls were delicious. I got to sample them all. I personally got the r2 Shoyu Tonkotsu with extra egg. This is a soy sauce based ramen and it was perfect. The noodles here are so fresh. I ordered extra! The ramen here is affordable compared to where I am from so it was refreshing to get good food at lower prices! We all still talk about this place till this day and I cannot wait to return to have this again in the future.
google avatar

Sara H.

Yelp
Arashi is my local neighborhood Ramen joint and I've eaten here dozens of times over the years. The line (there's always a line) moves quickly because ramen is a pretty quick meal. The prices are reasonable so we often choose this as a place to meet friends or family. It's a good place to bring a mixed veg & omni group because there are good options for all.
google avatar

Tasha H.

Yelp
I didn't expect much, however tonkotsu broth here was actually good. Compared with other places around there's maybe one more place as decent as this one. You also can chose between Asahi and Sapporo beers here, which accompany ramen pretty well. Service was fast. The ambiance reminds Japanese ramen places. A good choice to have a lunch here.
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
I would say that this continues to be a popular spot for myself and my circle. My spouse especially likes it here and goes often with friends. So I would say that it's a good meeting spot for friend groups, even though it's not that large. The service is always friendly and the food is acceptable. I still find it a tad cramped and a tad untidy (still hard to banish my initial experience some years ago but I'm sure I will eventually). I enjoy the popular art that they add to the walls here and there (DragonBallz type stuff).

Nan D.

Yelp
I ate here while visiting Seattle. We just off the plane and I read good reviews so we tried it. The service was good very nice waitresses. The ramen was good but the soup base needed more taste. The sides were ok the edamame had way too much salt. The restaurant itself was clean and had a nice feel.
google avatar

Melani M.

Yelp
Immediate service upon entry Delicious and satisfying meal reminiscent of our time in Japan Courteous and timely customer service Nice & quiet ambiance Will return to try other menu options
google avatar

Naomi A.

Yelp
This is THE. Best. Ramen spot in Seattle. Always flavorful. Always friendly staff. Clean & tidy. They bring your order quickly. The broth always has so much depth. Love this place!
google avatar

Charlotte G.

Yelp
I visited on a Sunday for dinner - the restaurant was very busy so I was added to the waitlist and had about a 20 minute wait to be seated. Upon seating, service was prompt and the food was ready quickly. I tried the Arashi ramen and the tantan men. The arashi ramen had a light broth with seaweed and super tender pork. The tantan men had a more hearty broth which was thicker, along with thicker noodles. Both were really tasty and the portion sizes were good too. Overall, this spot is a nice departure from the kizuki ramen in the Southcenter mall nearby. I'd definitely come here if you're in the area.
google avatar

Ria O.

Yelp
This place satisfied my takoyaki and ramen combo cravings. Great spot, very homey vibe. Lots of parking on a week night. The takoyaki came out first and it smelled so good, sprinkled with a generous amount of bonito flakes. Service was fast as well. Gotta go back again soon!
google avatar

Kirsten K.

Yelp
I was in the area to meet a friend, and she hadn't eaten proper ramen before, so I was excited to have her try it, and Arashi had decent reviews. I'm so bummed that we didn't go somewhere else. I had the Black Garlic Ramen, and she had the Miso Tonkatsu. First off, the pork in both the broth and the chasu had that kind of dark, musty taste that pork can have when it's not super fresh, so that was a massive turn-off. It was supposed to have black garlic oil, which usually doesn't have much color to it, but my entire broth had black speckles through it. If it had tasted like any of the black garlic I've had in the past, that would be fabulous, but instead, it just made the taste even muddier and was really off-putting. My friend's broth tasted a lot better since she didn't have the black garlic, but it was still fairly thin and just wasn't great. The chasu was chewy and dry rather than melt-in-your mouth, and the ajitama egg didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The one part I really liked was the caramelized onions--never had those on ramen before, and they were a good addition. I barely slept the night after eating this because my stomach was so queasy, and it's not usually sensitive. Sad to say, I think this is the worst ramen I've had. Hopefully I'll be able to talk my friend into trying a different one next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Flew in late, and wanted to grab a takeout rice bowl before checking into hotel. I ordered the chashu rice bowl and added 2 seasoned eggs. Holy cow, the extra eggs were $6! I still ordered them bc I love the eggs at ramen spots. Unfortunately, I did not love these eggs. They were cooked perfect, I just didn't like the seasonings. It was difficult to finish the eggs. The chashu pork was tender. The rice with mixed veggies that came with it was just ok. The green onions weren't cooked down enough, so they still had that raw, pungent taste too them. Don't get me wrong, onions are my favorite vegetable, I just don't want to eat raw onions in my cooked rice. When we got back to the hotel, there were no utensils in the bag. No silverware or chopsticks. Thankfully the hotel had some. The steamed gyoza we got were bomb though. I feel like this place was a mixed bag, but it was packed on a Wed night, so they must be doing something right!
google avatar

Belldandy O.

Yelp
I have been to this Arashi Ramen location a handful of times and have always had a good experience dining here. Always great customer service and satisfied with the ramen! It tends to be a bit busy, but the wait goes by fast and isn't super long like 10-20 minutes depending on the time of day. Lots of parking in the plaza it is located in. It is near Southcenter Mall, but a little bit down the road. We ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen (thick noodle, spicy miso-based broth, marinated chopped chashu seasoned soft-boiled egg, bean sprouts, green onion, and sweet corn), and TanTan Men Ramen (thick noodle, sesame paste, seasoned ground pork, green onion, and chili oil).
google avatar

Katrina D.

Yelp
I got the black garlic ramen. The amount of noodles to broth ratio is just right for me. Egg is included without an extra charge which is a plus! And chashu was good. The space inside is not very big, but it has a nice vibe. Servers are attentive. And I would go back again to try other items on the menu.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
THE BEST RAMEN! When I want ramen, Arashi is my spot. There's a place in the mall that's ok, but they've got nothing on Arashi. The interior is very much like you'd find in Japan, small, but perfect. Even with the wait, seating happens fairly quickly. This is due to efficient staff. The food. The food is fantastic. My favorite is the Black Garlic Ramen or the Arashi Ramen. Also, if you are extra hungry, you have to order the honey garlic karage chicken appetizer. It's the shiz.
google avatar

Lucia C.

Yelp
Service was a bit of miss but maybe it was because we wanted to sit at a different table then he suggested The ramen was okay but exactly my vibe but it's a good spot for a quick bite if you're not looking for anything too special.
google avatar

Mia H.

Yelp
After coming to Seattle on a 3-hour drive, we decided to stop by here for a quick bite for dinner. Walking in, the shop is a bit small but pretty cozy. The staff is so polite and service is very very fast. Their menu is pretty diverse with lots of ramen options, appetizers, rice bowls, and toppings for your bowls! I ended up getting the spicy miso ramen and it was so good. It definitely had more kick than I expected but it wasn't too spicy at all! The broth was rich, flavorful, and so so amazing. Portions were also great and reasonable. Would love to dine here again!
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
We started our meal with gyoza which was nicely seared to a crisp crust, very tasty indeed for appetizer. My other half had the Arashi ramen which came in a flavorful broth of rich layers of pork and dried fish. Three large pieces of tender char siu pork topped the noodles which was thin and chewy, with half a soft boiled egg which was seasoned and goes well with the rest of the ingredients to make it their signature ramen. My order of Black garlic ramen was dominated by garlic scent which made the broth very inviting, and I enjoyed very much the al dente texture of their noodle and other garnished ingredients all contribute to make this particular ramen very unique and wishing for more. Service was average and on point. Arashi has been added to our favorite list of restaurants.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Fast, friendly service, and great food every time! Our favorite place to get Ramen Broth is so rich with favor, gyoza is crispy and golden. Nice atmosphere too!

Monet W.

Yelp
The broth is delicious, but noodles are mushy and gelatinous and absorbed all the broth. I just moved to the area and am looking for my new Ramen spot. Most of the flavors are great, but I'm used to firm chewy noodles that allow you to enjoy the broth, but these are very mushy and soaked up all of my broth before I could eat it, so I won't be going back. My whole bowl ended up being a gelatinous and all stuck together.
google avatar

Leilani Q.

Yelp
One of the best bowls of ramen in the Tukwila/Renton area. My go to for a bowl of black garlic ramen. Although, I would prefer a bit more noodles to broth ratio! A bowl of ramen comes with: 1 piece chashu Half an egg Green onions Fried onions All is very tasty!! But like I want a whole egg and more than one pork fatty goodness. Gonna head across the street to get peach mango pies. :)
google avatar

Tessa M.

Yelp
Miso Ramen with thin noodle extra egg. My favorite ramen place. It's so delicious every time. It's small inside but the service is very quick. The food is excellent!
google avatar

Dubs Y.

Yelp
Small place good foood. Fast service. It's a simple noodle ramen house. Beer and wine only. Order the combo
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
I've driven past this plaza many times and I've finally decided to give this place a try. Immediately after entering, it already gave a vibe that the place knows how to make good ramen. Limited seatings and a wait list. My wife and I waited for about 15 minutes to get seated, which is to be expected during lunch time. I got the chicken karaage as an appetizer and shoyu tonkotsu. Next time i'd order more noodles. Their broth is hearty and it is obvious that the broth has been simmering for many hours leaving a nice umami and clean taste. The pork belly chashu is tender and melts in your mouth texture. Friendly and responsive staff. I'll be coming back real soon!
google avatar

Yvonne D.

Yelp
+ best ramen outside of ID + easy parking + can order online for pickup (restaurant is small so there may be a wait) - pricey (base noodle soup comes with limited toppings; its easy to double the price to low $20s) Tip: try the fried chicken/karage!
google avatar

Mikayla R.

Yelp
girl I nearly cried because of how good this ramen was. Came here on a trip and the food was great, the service was fast, staff friendly. Cute little place! Would come back again next time I'm in Seattle.
