When you're starting a new sport, you want someone who is willing to take the time to walk you through the basics of gear and get you started off right. More than that, you want someone who will be patient with you. When you're 54 and getting on your first skateboard, you want them to be *really* patient. Thankfully, that's exactly what I found when I walked into Arbor and spoke with Norris.
Like many people, I've driven past this shop a million times, but never went in. I could not be happier that I chose Arbor as the first and only skate shop I visited to get started. Norris was not only friendly, professional, and super helpful; he took the time to ask questions, learn about my interest and experience, and talk me through options that might work for me. I walked out with a beautiful longboard, and I couldn't be happier.
In a world where we go to Amazon for cheap everything and expect it to be here the next day and perfect (good luck), supporting a local business who has your best interest in mind is the only way to go. (If we don't support local businesses, they'll go away.) Especially with something like skateboarding... you want to talk with someone who loves the sport and has been in the same place you are as a beginner. Sure, Arbor is a national brand, but you are treated like a member of the neighborhood when you walk into this shop.
Thank you, Norris, for getting me started right and making this the best possible experience.
