It is with enthusiasm that I highly recommend ArchCare at Providence Rest! My mom has always given our family the best, and she deserves the best. The decision to place a parent/loved one in a nursing home/rehab is not made lightly. I toured Providence with a friend who is a health care professional and spoke well of the facility. She was correct! Clinically, the teams work together and respond to family. The setting is gorgeous and tranquil. The unexpected and MOST important joy is that there is love and care in the air here. On my mom’s first day, I sat in the chapel and cried. A nun saw me and told me don’t worry, Providence Rest would be part of her family now. A big shout out to Michelle and the Recreation crew. Michelle is also the Director of Guest Experience which speaks volumes of the attention to detail. The qualified staff of 3P…Mariam, Connie, Barbara, the supervisors, Dr. Taparia and all of the team make it happen daily. The front desk crew share a smile and cleanliness is evident throughout. The staff behind the scenes are getting it done! If you are faced with the decision of sub-acute or long term care, ArchCare at Providence Rest is excellent!

I am pleased and feel comforted every time I walk into Providence Rest. The staff that care for my mom are good people and want to work with me to know the best way to support my mother. The spiritual support from the sisters is special for me and my mom. My mom feels happy here. I enjoy connecting with the people who live here. The team responsible for my mom's care are readily accessible and are always receptive to my concerns and ideas. We work together. It is a new world for me, but I am embracing it...accepting it...because with my help and Providence's support my mom is getting the love and care she needs. I am grateful. With gratitude...my heart is open to recieve all that is good.

Providence Rest has been home to my 84-year-old mom since December 2024. It was an extremely difficult decision for her to make the transition to permanent residency in a nursing home, but from the very first day we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. The staff has truly made us feel at home, and the administration’s open-door policy gives families the comfort of being able to ask important questions at any time. I especially cannot say enough about the incredible staff who organize events and activities for the residents—they bring so much joy and engagement to their daily lives. If you are searching for compassionate, high-quality long-term care for your loved one, I wholeheartedly recommend Providence Rest.

Providence Rest is a warm caring place that has been my mom's home for quite awhile. Some of the aides have become like family to us. The Recreation Department is absolutely amazing. Their daily schedule is what makes PR stand out among other nursing facilities. Music, games, shows, crafts - always creative ways in keeping the residents engaged. The entire staff is comprised of the most caring loving individuals. The PT department is also excellent & having the sisters there to share their spirituality, warmth & love just makes PR a very special place.

Providence is a wonderful facility. All staff from front desk, social workers, activities coordinator, aides, RN's, PT staff, etc are all amazing and professional. If there's ever an issue, it will get taken care of. There are so many activities for the residents. The family room views are beautiful. They take good care of my father, what more can one ask for. I can go on and on. Thank you Providence

My family chose ArchCare for my uncle's care based on numerous positive reviews highlighting its faith-based approach and commitment to attentive, nurturing, and dignified patient treatment. However, our experience has been profoundly disappointing and far from what was promised. Since his admission, my uncle has frequently been ignored, even after activating his call button. He has been subjected to undignified treatment, including being served cold food when we were not present and being left in soiled garments for extended periods after soiling himself. These instances of neglect occurred even when he clearly required immediate assistance. What is most alarming is the facility's response to our numerous verbal complaints. After several days of this unacceptable treatment, we were informed that the facility "doesn't have the staff to properly assist him." This raises a critical question: if ArchCare lacks adequate staffing to care for its residents, why are they continuing to admit new patients? The implication that patient admissions are prioritized over sufficient staffing levels for proper care is deeply troubling. Furthermore, we were informed that the facility could not provide a caretaker to accompany my uncle to a critical medical appointment, despite knowing he is a fall risk and unable to walk unassisted. This demonstrates a severe lack of concern for patient safety and well-being. My uncle will be removed from this facility post haste. I am writing this review to caution any other families considering ArchCare for their loved ones. Based on our experience, the discrepancy between the advertised care and the actual conditions is stark. We also have strong suspicions regarding the authenticity of the highly positive reviews, particularly given that new glowing reviews with accompanying pictures and videos have appeared mysteriously following our family's attempts to post negative feedback.

I am very disappointed with the lack of compassion and work ethics with staff. There is absolutely no excuse to mistreat any patients. The excuse of under staff is unacceptable. The lack of medication being administered in a timely manner has occurred more than once. My father being stage 4 pancreatic cancer was told they will change him from a soiled pamper when their break was over. While being changed they ridiculed him and shamed him. I have been in the medical field along with many of his other children for over 30 years. Patients come first. Human beings alone should be treated with dignity. Shame on you. I cant imagine how patients who can not speak for themselves or dont family to advocate for them are treated. I am heartbroken 💔 😥.

My grandfather’s experience there has been disgraceful! From delays with medical attention to neglecting his personal hygiene. The administration team is not helpful or proactive about the care of the residents. Reports are not documented or they are being dismissed. Not one social worker has spoken to our family about advocating and managing his care despite messages left in person and by phone. We pray that someone will intervene for the sake of my grandfather, the other residents, and future residents.

Yelp
It's not normally like me - at this age - to review a nursing/rehabilitation facility, but due to more recent events I felt that I wanted to drop a note on here about this place. This is a rehabilitation facility (on the left facing the building from the outside) and also a nursing home (on the right). My grandmother was here on two different occasions. The first time about 2 years ago, she was in the rehabilitation side and after several weeks, was released. Then they treated her well and the staff was good to both her and to us, who would visit with her. She came again to the rehabilitation side just 3 months ago and was eventually transferred to the nursing unit, where she sadly lived out the rest of her days. The staff always made her comfortable and were very pleasant overall - again to both her and to us, who would visit and often ask questions. They always took care of her and looked out for her. Naturally during this pandemic (as of this writing), they needed to take precautions for both the patients/residents and for the staff - so we were understandably not allowed to visit any longer, though we still of course were able to call and speak with her. She passed due to natural causes sadly, but up to her final day, they took take of her and I'm very grateful for this place and for those who work there. I always respect others' reviews whether or not I agree with them, as everyone does have their own experiences. I can only write about my own. This is a place I would recommend for those in need of their services - whether the rehab side or for the nursing unit. Both sides - the rooms had two beds. I'm not sure if there were private rooms or not, but the roommates most of the time were fine. You are required to sign in for each visit. There is plenty of space for the cafeteria, a hall, and everything is very clean. The nursing unit has a great view of the water from the windows and when the weather is nice, areas to be outside comfortably. Parking is limiting, but there is street parking on the residential blocks if need be. I am grateful that this place and it's staff were able to make my grandmother's final days as comfortable as they could. Once again, I do recommend this place in need of their services.

Yelp
Sadly, this is my moms second time in this facility for rehab following a stroke. Let me start by saying she can do little for herself (Stand, walk, eat, bathe) How do you bring food to a room, open it up and leave it for her to feed herself when she can barely hold a utensil? They pick up the uneaten food and do nothing. She's lost 13 pound in 2 months. If she doesn't want to go to rehab, they don't encourage it. I think she gets a shower once a week and the dentures that are falling out of her mouth are never clean. I visited on 4/27. For the three hours I was there, the smell of feces that permeated the second floor hallway had me gagging. I've figured out why they wear masks. I don't know when a doctor was there last to address concerns but yet after 2 months of no communication and NO IMPROVEMENT she has a discharge date seven days away? The waterfront view used to be the cherry on the cake, now it's a cherry on a rotten pile of sh*t.

Yelp
This place has declined... I was here with a friends Dad a few years ago and it was okay... I came today to visit a family friend and I'm sitting here with a diaper left on the wheelchair... gross to be looking at it but I didn't say anything cause as the aide and I think a nurse walking by the room and exuding an attitude!!! So so disappointed... She's here for rehab and I don't believe they have walked her yet!! The rooms need painting!!! Left there very upset and a bit depressed leaving our beautiful friend behind... the people working there should be ashamed and should remember treat these clients as if they are your family members... God help us all who need rehab

Lisa S.

Yelp
This place at one point was great. The aides don't care about anyone, you are left sitting in a wet diaper or not changed for hours. I have have made complaints and what happens the aides treat the residents worse than before, it's abuse honestly.

Yelp
Providence Rest is a very caring and CLEAN rehabilitation center, if you or a family member have the need. My aunt had been in a few rehabs in the Bronx, and this is the only one she actually said, "I feel safe here".At some of the other places, other clients roamed the halls at all hours of the day and night. Clothing was stolen as were simple items like salt shakers and mouthwash. Clothing was even "misplaced" when sent out for laundry day at East Haven, but not so here. The staff is extremely friendly, doctors are knowledgeable and are there all the time. At East Haven, the doctor was only there when he made rounds which was sometimes only once weekly. Dignity is held in high regard here. The floors are immaculate and they have plenty of staff. There is ALWAYS at least 2 nurses on the floor at all times, plus many LPN's and CNA's. All staff is very approachable by both family members and patients. At other places there is one nurse for the entire building with LPN's and CNA's doing all work on the floors with patients. This leaves room for too many errors in my estimation. Providence Rest is a nonprofit rehab. run by the Sisters of John the Baptist. The sisters live on property in an adjacent building, and are always there to comfort your family member, even when you can't. It overlooks the water and has beautiful gardens to sit in when the weather is nice. It is situated in the middle of a safe beautiful residential neighborhood, with plenty of parking on the street as their lot fills quickly. (This neighborhood has NO alternate side of the street parking rules!! If you're from NY, you understand how WONDERFUL that is.) I asked a home owner if I could park near their home as there were few spots that day and she said, "Why not?. You have have family at Providence Rest?" and when I replied yes, she said, "I'll take good care of your car for you", and she did! Finally, they also have a chapel on property where you can hold a wake if needed. This is wonderful, as many of the residents view the other clients as family. If and when the time comes and there isn't a lot of family, the Chapel is available for wakes. I highly recommend Providence Rest if you have the need for an extended care facility for you or a family member. I can't say enough positive things about Providence Rest!

Yelp
My mother has been a resident on the memory care floor of Providence Rest for the last 6 years. For the most part my experience has been excellent. The whole facility has a very warm welcoming atmosphere - more like a neighborhood senior citizen residence than a nursing facility. On her floor the CNA's are the most hands on with the residents, with a nurse always on duty at the desk. With few exceptions the aides that have taken care of my mother have been wonderful. They truly get attached to the residents and treat them like they're family. The ones that I have gotten to know best over the years are angels to me in how much they care for my mother . The Activity Department is absolutely the best! I've never heard of another place that does the things that they do at Providence Rest. Pre- Covid of course - they have a full activity calendar for every floor. Bingo, music, crafts, cooking , aromatherapy, nail painting - everything you could imagine. As well as the best Halloween & Christmas parties! The floors are alive and active due to all of the activity. Once the Covid restrictions came down the Activity Dept. immediately had a system set up where you can schedule facetime chats with your loved one, followed by "through glass door visits " & lastly in person visits when restrictions allow. In other words, during these most trying times they are doing everything in their power to keep people connected to their loved ones as best as they could following the mandated guidelines. The whole department is filled with the most caring warm people you could ever meet. The Physical Therapy Department is also excellent! The director & staff stay on top of the residents & continually evaluate & determine when they should be put back on a rotation. They contact me to give me updates on my mother. The people who work the front desk are also so warm, friendly & helpful. The sisters are always a presence & do their part in caring for the residents, as well as provide a feeling of spirituality. They decorate the entire building for all of the holidays in such a beautiful fashion; it's obvious how much the residents enjoy it. I've even gotten to know the housekeeping staff, who also chip in & get to know the residents & help out when needed. It's definitely an all-hands on deck type of atmosphere! Clearly I feel Providence Rest is a wonderful, warm, caring place for a loved one to live & be well taken care of. I highly recommend Providence Rest.

Yelp
Horrible!!!!! There"s not one good thing I can say about this dump. The staff is the worst I've ever encountered. Their communication is nonexistent. Unless you hunt them down, you won"t have any idea of what's going on with your loved one. My mom was there for 3 months of rehab after surgery for a broken hip. It was the worst 3 months . They never updated us on anything and when they would finally return your call, they still weren't able to address your concerns. They lie constantly and they"re nasty and lazy. We found out that my mother fell last week but instead of telling me this, they claimed that they saw her getting out of her wheelchair and caught her just in time. Well seems that since she"s being discharged tomorrow, they decided to come clean and a nurse called to say that she"s all bruised on her left side because she did fall because no one was watching her! But instead of taking care of the problem then, these idiots figure that today, 7 days after, would be a good time to take x-rays and make sure she didn't seriously hurt herself!!! The director of social work is a big joke, loves to talk in circles and is absolutely useless. The director himself is so out of the loop I think it's time for him to retire. the entire staff is rude and nasty and apparently get paid to do nothing. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Honestly, my dog could do a better job running this place.

Yelp
I had my Mom in Providence Rest approximately 2 1/2 years ago. I also had my Dad there about 8 years ago. I didn't care for the place then and this time around confirmed my feelings 100%. I will say that the therapists were great. They tried very hard with my Mom to get her up and walking. They were pleasant, professional, kind and caring. I think Providence Rest is very understaffed. I think out of all the CNAs only 3 or 4 were kind and attentive. There were many of them who wouldn't even look at me or acknowledge anything that I asked, and believe me, I didn't really ask for much except the basics. If I asked most of them to toilet my Mom, they scattered or just ignored me. The patients are mostly left in the doom and gloom dining room. The food was absolutely disgusting and all the patients said the same thing. The physician there, Dr. John, never spoke to me once about my Mom's condition. She heard me speaking to some of the nurses behind the nurses' station and never even turned around or acknowledged me. Her attitude was terrible. The social worker that I had, I believe she was the supervisor of the social service office, was less than social. I couldn't stand dealing with her. She had a very cold and indifferent personality. I always felt like she was annoyed when I had to ask her a question. Not what a concerned family member wants to encounter. My Mom collapsed a few times in the rest room and I wanted an ambulance called for her and the nurses wouldn't call. Every time I went there, I found my Mom dazed and confused. I had to always ask the nurses to take her blood pressure and it was always low. She had to be hydrated every time I went there by me or else no one else cared. You must go there all the time and different times to see that your loved one is receiving proper care. I will say that the place is very clean. I hope that my Mom never, ever has to go back there. I really never want to set foot in the place again.

Yelp
The nuns are the only good thing about this nursing home. Poorly staffed and all except a handful of staff uncaring and uninterested in having family at all involved in patient's care. Day room doubles as dining room which means patients sit in one loud depressing place all day long. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
they did wonder's for my wife the staff security theripists are all the best. put your loved one;s with them they are heroe's
