If you want your loved one to be neglected, left filthy, and treated like a burden instead of a human being, especially someone with dementia, then sure, put them in Providence Rest.
The level of care here is absolutely disgraceful. Every single nurse we encountered had an attitude problem. Not one showed compassion, patience, or even basic decency. This wasn’t limited to one area either. We experienced this on both the 2nd and 4th floors, so this is clearly a facility-wide issue. Communication was nonexistent. Nobody ever knew anything. Ask a question, and you’d get blank stares, shrugs, or conflicting answers. Yet somehow they’re very organized when it comes to harassing you for money, for truly bad care.
The nurses were inadequate, inept, and completely uncaring. My grandfather was constantly left in bed, wearing a hospital gown, instead of being dressed and spending time with other residents. Part of the reason? They repeatedly lost and misplaced his clothing. His clothes were never around—constantly missing, never where they should be, while everyone else seemed to have theirs. This happened over and over again, with zero accountability and no explanation.
He was a fall risk (which they knew), and he fell multiple times while in their "care", and we were either never informed or, when we asked what happened, no one knew when or how he fell. That alone is horrifying and completely unacceptable.
When we finally discharged him to place him somewhere better, things somehow got even worse. When we went to collect his belongings, there were ZERO clothes left. Not a single item. Staff had no idea what happened to them. They were checking with laundry, and still no response, no follow-up, no explanation. His belongings were simply gone, just like the care and respect he never received.
And let’s talk about cleanliness, or lack of it. Roaches are all over the building. The facility is dirty and sticky everywhere, but his room was especially disgusting. Every time we walked in, the floor was sticky, it reeked of urine, and I literally stepped in it. The smell stayed in my shoes for days. That is beyond negligent, it’s inhumane.
This place should be shut down. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE facility. If I could give negative stars, I would. Do yourself and your loved one a favor and stay far away from Providence Rest.
