Charlie Palmer Will Lead Restaurants at Archer Tysons Corner Hotel | Eater DC

"I learned that an Archer Hotel is being constructed near the McLean Metro station in Tysons and is expected to open in summer 2021, with Charlie Palmer announced to manage all food and beverage there; the brand already has a Midtown Manhattan property that includes a lobby-level Charlie Palmer Steak and a rooftop Spyglass Bar." - Tierney Plumb

This is a very nice hotel it is on the smaller size that I enjoy because everything is very relaxing. The staff are wonderful and welcoming. My room was very clean and comfortable. Modern rain shower was great. I need a completely dark room to sleep in and the heavy black out curtains were perfect. If you use room service try the rosemary garlic fries delicious. They pair well with a hot buttered rum on these cold nights for a little late night snack. I have to mention that the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. At home I sleep on a Sattva so my standards are high. Please stay at the Archer Hotel you will be pleased.

Danielle welcomed us upon arrival and was so kind to us and friendly. We were enjoying a night out without our kids and she made sure to put us on the quiet side of the hotel. The rooms were beautiful and we enjoyed the small personal touches like locally made caramel candies and slippers. Our valet service was fast, efficient and friendly. The entire hotel was so well decorated and beautiful! We will be returning for another staycation just so we can enjoy the hotel a little more!

Our family occupied 4 rooms and the front desk was very accommodating, making sure our rooms were close to each other. The check-in process was easy and quick. The hotel is so beautiful with ample seating areas in the lobby area. The hot cider/hot chocolate station was delightful! The valet staff were very courteous and friendly - we never had to wait for our cars. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay again! Loved everything about Archer Hotel Tysons!

We booked this hotel for 3 nights to attend a family event nearby. We loved the design, the cleanliness, location. Well designed small room.|Bed, headboard and pillows were great. Bedside lamps easy to use and plenty of places to charge devices. Nespresso coffee maker made us feel like home. Small refrigerator was nice but we did not use it. Shower was easy to step into, with lots of space. Especially liked that the shower controls were easy to reach from the outside of the shower so that temperature of water could adjust before stepping in. Robe and slippers were nice touch that we did not use. Products were pleasantly scented. Very large framed full length mirror with outlet next to it. Light in closet went on when door was opened and off when door closed. Hooks for coats next to door, with umbrella if we needed it. Restaurant and bar were pleasant and spacious. Only valet parking, which got busy one night but was generally good. I will stay here again!

This hotel is very well appointed. Great location, beautiful, luxurious rooms and a bed to die for. This may sound a bit off and I mean this with all respect, I would call this hotel sexy, the furnishings and decor. The staff were more than excellent, from check in to the valet we had no complaints. I would definitely return.

I had a very nice stay in this luxury hotel. The valet and front desk were so kind and accommodating—especially Merriam and Mohammad. I was having a rough day and they made my checkin experience easy and so helpful. The rooms are nice and clean and the rooms spacious—I had a quiet, enjoyable stay. I only deducted a star as I am slightly picky: while the beds were very comfortable, the pillows were not as comfortable and a bit hard to sleep on. I also wished the TVs had options to sign into apps like Netflix, etc. instead of just channels. The food from the restaurant and room service was very tasty and better quality than the Ritz Carlton over in Pentagon City. It was just a little too costly to justify for a dessert and appetizer. Other than that the room was super clean with wonderful little touches and I recommend this hotel.

From beginning to end our experience at the Archer was amazing. You are catered to and treated well. It’s one of my favorite places to stay because they hold nothing back from giving you a memorable hotel experience. The Archer Den w/ Balcony will not disappoint! Julian from Valet was amazing!! Issac at the front desk was awesome, and I was able to see on of my favorite people from my last visit, Miriam before leaving. I will always give 5 stars!

Google
Great hotel. Amazing service. The rooms were beautiful. It’s right by the mall, so you’re able to do shopping or go get a bite to eat. The view wasn’t really all that. And the only real downside is you HAVE to valet park your car or look for public parking which isn’t really there. But it’s reasonably priced for overnight. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
When we arrived, the valet attendant assisted us with parking and taking our luggage into the lobby. The check-in process was efficient. The lobby area was spacious and open. There was a restaurant to the left of the entrance and some additional space to the right of the reception desk. After we checked in, the attendant took our bags to the room. The room was very nice with good features. The bathroom was pretty good as well. Everything appeared clean. The hotel had some great aesthetics as well. The checkout process was efficient. By the time that we completed checking out, the valet had pulled the car to the front of the building. Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely visit again.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice now. I have family living just about five minutes away and although I'm welcome to stay with them, if there are too many people staying or if I have my dogs with me on the trip, which their landlord does not allow, this is becoming my go-to hotel. This is a beautiful boutique hotel with a modern, industrial vibe. Everything feels very new and clean. It is dog friendly and offers pet amenities like a dog bed and bowl in your room, though I found the $150 a night pet fee during our Christmas stay among the highest I've paid. On this visit I did not have pets with me and got a great deal via an email offer. Offers often include a $25 food/drink credit at their hotel restaurant/bar, which I'll review separately. The beds are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms are large and luxurious with Lather bath products and a rain shower (I hear the soaking tubs come with bath salts), and there are robes to borrow and slippers to keep. There are nice little details like local welcome treats and complimentary waters left in your room. Staff is super attentive and professional. They offer valet parking at $25 a day and if you're not using the valet and just getting in or out of the car of someone picking you up or a rideshare, a staff member is still running out to open the door for you. There is a Wegmans easily walkable across the street and access to the Tyson's Metro station is unmatched. I have had really nice stays here and will surely be back.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at! They give you bathrobes, slippers, and if you have the soaker tub, they give you bath salts and a rubber ducky! I absolutely loved my stay! I was warmly greeted when I got there and was informed that my room had been upgraded. They also informed me of a $25 food credit that I used for breakfast one day. I ended up with a large suite that had a separate living room and bedroom. It also came with a balcony and two chairs outside. The curtains were automatic, which is something I've never seen before. I was a little surprised that the walls weren't actually brick, but I still loved the elegant industrial feel. Will most likely stay again next time I'm in Tysons!

Yelp
The guest rooms were beautiful and the tub was pure luxury. One downside was that it is a valet parking only property. I saw some cars being parked around the corner by valet staff in the middle of the street. I ended up parking in the building across the street. The location did not have many restaurants nearby but they have a great restaurant on property. The McLean metro is a short distance away.

Yelp
Warning: long review TLDR: great boutique hotel, clean, comfortable and focused on the little things that matter! My first time staying at The Archer and it won't be the last! I was in town for work for a few days and this is conveniently located. Upon arrival the valet opened the doors at the entrance and front desk people were friendly. Near the front desk they have a small convenience area where you can find (for purchase) some toiletry needs, snacks, sodas/water. Also on the entry floor there are a few lounge areas. Set up with comfortable sofas, chairs, tables. The group I was with spent an evening hanging out here and we were very comfortable. Just walked over to the bar to grab drinks. Maybe would be nice to have some bar servers in the lounge area. The Room: the room is very well appointed. A comfortable King bed, a good size sofa, desk, dresser, the usual. The hotel clearly wants you to be comfortable and provides several amenities. I found a robe and iron/ironing board in the closet. In the bathroom were two pairs of slippers, which I truly appreciated bc I didn't have room for mine in my bag and I don't like walking barefoot in hotel rooms. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner, along with lotion are all provided in the bathroom. A rain shower and the shower got plenty hot for me. I could've used a bit more water pressure, but not the worst I've had at a hotel. Plenty of towels and they were not the thin crappy towels either. Not the best towels, but better than many hotels. A makeup/magnifying mirror rounded things out. There is also an in-room safe, nespresso machine with complimentary pods, sugar, creamer. A mini fridge that made my water cold. Two small bottles of water were complimentary and then there are two large bottles available for purchase in the "mini bar." Not an actual mini bar though - I don't want to mislead you! The other thing that stood out was the ABUNDANCE of USB outlets available! I normally get none in other hotels but had more than enough all around the room! "Shuttle service": the valet will drive you places. They don't actually have a shuttle, it's a Mercedes SUV. Prompt and friendly! I don't know the limitations bc I just went a couple of blocks to the office building, but very much appreciated the complimentary service. AKB: On the street level there is a bar that serves a small menu of food (also available for some room service brought like takeout). The bread pudding is the only thing I ate, but it was delicious! 8.5/10! The servers were fine, not unfriendly.

Yelp
Had a fantastic stay here. It was my 30th birthday and I was seeing some family for a couple days. They upgraded me to a suite and gave me a food credit just to say happy birthday I guess. The design and service here are top notch. Genuinely kind and thoughtful employees that are approachable. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Yelp
We made a reservation through MemberDeals for GovX Members and the day before we were to arrive, my wife had an emergency surgery. I called the hotel to cancel or move the reservation to another day and was told they did not have our reservation at all. MemberDeals for GovX Members is now claiming the hotel is charging us for the room anyway. We are pursuing other options. This is not right

Yelp
The good: 1) super comfy bed, 2) clean, 3) nice setup, 4) good shower. The bad: 1) thinnish or inadequately insulated interior walls -- this is odd to see in newer construction since the whole point of high-end hotels is quietude, 2) challenging reception for drive-up and for check-in -- there is only space for 3-cars in front of lobby entry -- and when I arrived at 11 pm, there were 3-cars parked in front -- this sidewalk, curb, bike lane, bus lane, thoroughfare design failure is on McClean, but it's a headache for guests, and 4) the final straw is the "valet-only" parking -- it's not about the $25 fee since a lot of hotels charge for parking -- it's the lack of option to self-park in their underground garage with the nasty warning at the entrance to their garage stating "park here and get towed" " valet-only " -- okay, fine -- so,... if I don't feel like handing over my EV to the valet dude, where CAN I self park? The somewhat surly hotel clerk responds, "on the street OR maybe at Wegman's garage, but don't really know..." -- well, your hotel, your neighborhood -- FIND OUT where the nearest public overnight garages are and be prepared to answer the question-- it's not always about the money, in this case it was about maintaining control and avoiding lost time due to an understaffed and overwhelmed valet attendant (3 cars in front). And it was raining. I found one of the few nearby street parking spots so didn't have to checkout Wegman's garage a block away. I'd prefer being able to self-park in Archer's underground garage -- something for mgmt to consider -- even if it costs a whole $25.

Yelp
We were there for a Christmas party. The food was great, our room was incredibly comfortable and everyone was polite. An absolutely lovely atmosphere and experience!

Yelp
Just completed a four night stay and I was really impressed. The hotel is beautiful inside, with an eclectic style that blends modern touches and sparkly lighting with very cozy seating areas. Our room was spacious and well supplied with towels and coffee. It was surprisingly quiet other than the Friday night music from the Biergarten on the hill behind the hotel, but not too loud, and worth the convenience of being able to walk over for a beer. The location is great for using Metro also, and an easy walk across the street to visit Starr Hill Biergarten and Wegmans. Daily room service was very good and we enjoyed the complementary sweets and small water bottles, plus the hot chocolate bar in the lobby. The room rate was very reasonable; parking was pricy at $25 per night for valet, but it was convenient and very easy and fast to have the car brought around.

Yelp
I stayed at the Archer recently for a work seminar and was happy to stay there. I would stay again and offer these comments: (1) Parking is valet only at $20 per day, unless you find something better nearby, which is not likely. For the DC area, I suppose that the rate is not terrible. (2) I did not eat at the restaurant on site, but the catered meals were good an d creative: not the same food every meal. (3) Housekeeping actually cleans the room every day, a change from many hotels who don't do so unless you really push for it. (4) There is a Wegmans the next block over, which is a good source of food and prepared meals. (5) The penthouse conference room and terrace are quite scenic and a great place for a meeting and for group meals.

Yelp
The Archer Hotel was amazing. When I approached the front door, the valet staff opened the doors for me like I was royalty and right away I realized that this hotel has great hospitality for their guests. I talked to the hotel staff who had the most amazing hospitality ever, they answered my questions with a smile on their face. One of the staff members had invited come by for an event to which is why I was at the hotel that night. She greeted me with open arms and made my visit there special and it didn't matter on how long I was there. The food was super delicious and I had the best nonalcoholic drink. All the staff members at the event were attentive and made sure we were doing okay. Even though my visit was short, it was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life and proud to give the Archer Hotel 8/5 stars. Congratulations! I say #1 hotel in Tysons VA. I recommend coming to the Archer Hotel if you're visiting from out of town or just want to get something to drink. Trust me, it's totally worth it.

Yelp
I was overcharged for two glasses of wine and when I spoke to the waiter he agreed but then nothing was done. While the bar tender was fine the wait staff around the bar area was a bit creepy. They were staring at us and made us feel very uncomfortable as they passed back and forth from the bar to the kitchen. The bar/restaurant is overpriced for B quality food. For example the iceberg wedge was drowned in drawing and was well over $20. It was worth maybe $7 or $8, while glasses of mediocre wine were $25. The Archer bar/restaurant thinks it's much better than it is. Overall a disappointment seeing pretentious prices and poor behavior by the wait staff.

Yelp
I came here for a birthday vacation and had a wonderful time. The rooms are beautiful It's close to so many shops and restaurants I'm definitely coming back here

Yelp
This hotel is just beyond adorable and so much thought put forth into little details for the hotel guests! Definitely better than your Big Chain names that everything pretty much is expected. I'm super in love with this boutique hotel and would definitely come back and stay if needed. Not to mention that the guest services was the best I've seen for awhile. This place is a gem! The fitness center is also very cute and has two peloton bikes and just everything is designed to suit a business travel needs. Probably not your family style but young professionals ideal hotel stay! Oh did I tell you that they actually had slippers in the room for you! ? It's so adorable:) loved every moment of my stay.

Yelp
We booked for two nights 2 months in advance- through hotels America. They advertise 2 king beds - but when you get there - it's 1 bed. The hotel decides. What other business / industry gets away with advertising one thing and producing another. Why would I book a maybe 2 bed option? I wouldn't.. and likely no one else would either! We were denied a refund and had to book elsewhere - last minute. Don't even start with third party booking because the hotel got their money first with selling those rooms to third party to begin with. Hotel America discussed the appeal and Martin from archer Tyson and denied it. It's such a shame you can not even trust a basic hotel offer. Verify everything. In writing. Time stamped. What a scam to advertise 2 beds when you actually mean maybe 2 beds !!!!!

Yelp
I had high expectations for the Archer, as I had stayed at a location in Florham park and thought this one just HAD to be better- its newer and in a trendier location. I was wrong- it wasn't all bad but damn was it mediocire. I stayed for two nights and booked a room last minute. First major Negative is there isn't free parking- if you have a car you are screwed. Pay 25$ a night for valet like your staying at the Ritz or risk getting towed at some illegal street parking. Their valet garage is half full (drove by many times) and its just a money grab. They should offer a certain amount of free spots then charge valet for non hotel guests. Valet is a mess- some people working had no idea the price and I had to make 3 comments to front desk staff to make sure they actually parked my car. Other staff was nice so no complaints there. I was hoping they'd upgrade me as I've stayed in other locations but nothing special was offered- oh well. My room faced away for construction and it was fairly quiet. My room had no free water or candy like advertised- when I called down for free water they said they were "low" and would try their best. Unfortunately I don't get how that is my problem? I luckily found a water bottle fill up spot in the ice room and did call down for them to ultimately deliver two waters. My deadbolt was broken but when so called down they said "sorry our engineer left" so a bit unsettling for a single woman staying- no offer of moving me or anything. Not sure if the engineer came the next day when I left either. AKB staff was very kind and the drinks are good! My bed was comfy but unless you are blasting your fan the room doesn't stay at the temp you want. Nice new TVS and nice robes- water gets nice and hot too in the shower. The biggest bummer is they have a gorgeous rooftop but the average guest will never get access- it's for events only and I feel like that's a huge mistake. Overall wasn't the worst but wasn't the best- the lack of free parking and lack of attention to detail makes this property not exactly a shining star in Tyson's.

Yelp
Tyson's new boutique, urban-chic hotel with amazing bar. Friendly service. All rooms have king sized beds.

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel for the first time this week. What a nice surprise! A great boutique hotel at an affordable price in the heart of the DC suburb business district. Easy access to DC with the Metro across the road. Great bar and restaurant. I ate T the bar and had the Calamari as an appetizer. I have eaten Calamari at more than 200 restaurants around the world and this is the first time I have had it cooked perfectly. Soft and tender on the inside, crispy on the outside. Wow. Hotel is new and everything is fresh. Staff are incredibly friendly. European attention to detail and customer service. Wish it had been open when I lived in this area. I will be back every time I visit DC.

Yelp
From opening night to corporate celebrations, Archer's AKB bar and Kitchen never disappoints. The perfect touch of urban-chic!

Yelp
I wish I could rate my visit zero-stars. This is a review for our attempted stay on Friday, October 20th. My fiancé and I were supposed to stay at this hotel for two nights to celebrate a special day, but did not make it past one. We could not sleep comfortably due to excessive noise coming from an outside beer garden as well as next door to us. The walls are incredibly thin for a "luxury" hotel and because of these disturbances we resort to call the front desk at around 1:30AM. We call and are immediately met with a nonchalant, uncaring attitude regarding our issue. The "solution" was to have security come and ask the next door patrons to lower their music, but security never showed up and the loud music is now coupled with shouting. At this point it is unbearable and we decide to go downstairs to work things out. The front desk person was incredibly apathetic and seemed bothered that we'd even come down in the first place. We could no longer bear this behavior and asked for a refund as we could see no agreement would be reached that night. He brazenly tells us that he cannot do that as it is "above his pay grade" and goes on to suggest that we could just check out right then and that he'd have our car brought around by the valet immediately. WE ARE IN OUR PAJAMAS AT THE FRONT LOBBY AT 2AM WHILE HE SAYS THIS. He could have suggested moving us to another room, checked to see if the Falls Church Archer Hotel location had any openings or even shown a shred of empathy, but instead chose to escalate things to a very uncomfortable degree. We return to our room, absolutely disgusted, pack up and immediately return to the front desk to check out. Before we leave, we ask for a manager's card and his name to which he, very condescendingly, spells out for us: "Min. M-I-N". He tells us to call for a manager tomorrow (Saturday) despite there being no manager available until Monday... As someone who has worked in hospitality for several years, it's shocking and simply embarrassing that this hotel's level of service and care are this staggeringly low. The Archer-Tysons is a relatively new hotel in an area with plenty of established competition and this is the best they can do? Inexcusable. - Book with any other hotel in the area or burn your money. Either are a better use of your cash than staying here.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in a prime location, here for business and this hotel is in a great spot! It's so clean and beautiful! Beds are super comfy and the staff are wall so nice ! I definitely am going to stay here again when I'm back in town! I was also helped by Stella on my reservation where she helped with my accommodations! Thank you !

Yelp
Out dated amenities. TVs are poor resolution with with forced motion smoothing; picture frequently freezes up. Basically unwatchable. Hotel engineers have no idea how to operate the TVs. Everything looks old. The hotel needs a major tech update, and training for hotel staff.

Kenny S.

Yelp
It's a cool hotel bar but their cocktails are way over priced. On top of that they charger $5 surcharge to smoke a cocktail. Are you kidding, 25% up charge of a drink to add smoke to it. I've never heard of this in my life. I would never go back to this over priced average bar ever again. Go to Wren, much better with friendlier staff. Or Randy's who has fair priced cocktails. Archer hotel is a highway robbery, unless you are the type of person who likes to bend over.

Yelp
I don't want to drone on about everything I didn't like about this place but for the cost I think it could be much better. Parking was my main complaint - and not really because of the cost, or that there literally was no free parking option. It was that if you were using valet, and there were 2+ cars out front waiting, you had no where to park. So, I asked about this & was told to park on the street with my flashers on - not safe. Additionally, my thermostat was broken, my bathroom doors wouldn't close, my safe didn't lock, my room wasn't even listed (315) so I walked around the whole floor until I realized the signs were wrong. Sign said 314-325 were to the right -- and my room was actually to the left. My TV remote didn't work, the drawers made my clothes stink, no Ethernet Jack, and the food was really not great for the price. Portions were ok but quite poorly done. I did like their little gym though, and the location is nice. Just a few little complaints that would make me try the WaterMark across the street next time.

Lisa M.

Yelp
We had a work meeting at the Archer Tysons this week. The meeting room was perfect with the big windows and high ceiling. We had staff monitoring us all day. The catering was delicious. We're all still talking about the Tres Leches cake served at lunch. Where do you get this cake? My colleagues who stayed at the hotel also had good things to say about the sleeping rooms. Good location near metro, 495, and 66. I definitely recommend this property!

Diana C.

Yelp
The hotel is very clean. Very friendly concierge and the valet gentleman were outstanding truly went above and beyond and I felt safe leaving my car over night. The manager went out of his way to make sure our stay was loved, which it was. I asked for the valet information and turns out they do private events, I am getting married soon and defiantly will be contacting them for my private event Valet Parking LLC and Archer Hotel THANK YOU for your AMAZING hospitality.

Abigail W.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the Archer Hotel chain, but the Tysons location in McLean clearly lags behind it's other locations and you get much less value for your money. The base rate is higher, simply because it's located in McLean. The parking is very limited, and you have to pay for valet services compared to free parking at the other locations. The kitchen has very limited hours, and tries to be a local nightlife spot instead of serving hotel guests. So... if you fly in and are jetlagged at 10pm, and ask for a sandwich, and the hotel curtly tells you the kitchen is closed, and you're left looking at the downstairs bar filled with 20 and 30 somethings cheerfully drinking. And it's all a big turnoff. Still jet lagged the next day and try to get lunch? Kitchen is closed. Long story short, the kitchen is set up to serve the local neighborhood, not hotel guests. Extremely frustrating and poor hotel service, considering the amount of money one has to pay to stay here.
