Archway

"As the name suggests, this restaurant is nestled underneath the railway arches close to Battersea Park and the chic Battersea Power Station development. You may hear the rumble of trains overhead, but it’s often replaced by the buzz of diners flocking here to try the rustic Italian cooking with an appealing simplicity. Their focaccia is a stand out, while dishes like charred octopus with paprika romesco sauce put quality ingredients front and centre. The personable, engaging service team will make your visit even more enjoyable." - Michelin Inspector

We went there for my partners birthday dinner and had a table booked for 6pm (when the restaurant opened). We arrived just before 6, tried the door and couldn't get in. Waited till 6 and knocked on the door and couldn't get in. We then proceeded to call the restaurant 5 or 6 times and couldn't get through and I banged on the door very hard three times and nobody answered. At around 18:20 we considered just leaving but as a last ditch effort I banged on the window and someone finally came and unlocked the door to let us in. To our surprise there was already a couple in there eating their mains so how they got in and nobody heard us outside I have absolutely no idea. After explaining this to the person who let us in, we were given no apology or explanation and just light heartedly told "it makes us feel more exclusive" which after waiting outside in the cold on my partners birthday, went down like a lead balloon. Needless to say the food had a lot to make up for at this point and it unfortunately fell very short of doing this. The Fritto di pesce misto was quite nice, but we've both had a similar dish locally to us which we preferred. The Tagliolini crab had the flavour profile or a thai dish which was not what I had wanted from an Italian restaurant. I had the large portion and my partner had the starter portion and we could not tell the difference between them except my partner had a small visible amount of crab on her plate and I didn't have a single piece. All in all we should have just both ordered the starter portion. The Bomboloni was quite tasty as the custard inside was delicious, but the dough was comparable to funfair doughnuts. The Tiramisu was one of the best i've had in this country and definitely the highlight of the meal, but not enough to make the experience worthwhile. Overall I wish we had booked somewhere else for dinner, I can't quite understand the glowing reviews of the food and service because this was not our experience at all. On a positive note the setting of the restaurant was cozy and romantic like others have stated, just a shame about the food and service.

So glad to have found an Italian restaurant that meets our high standard. Too many mediocre ones in London. We went for an early lunch and were warmly greeted by Nyall, who looked after us throughout and ensured we had a great experience. He explained the menu in detail and offered some recommendations. When we weren’t sure which wine would pair best with our food, he kindly let us try a few options before choosing. Everything we ordered from starters to dessert was class. I’d highly recommend the crab tagliolini, the rib eye and the torta caprese (they change menu monthly). We love the interior too - warm, comforting and minimalistic. A casual restaurant with fine-dining service.

Everything about this place is superb! Love the intimate space, open kitchen setup, very good service, delicious wine! Food is amazing, especially all the starters. Pasta was good but I wasn’t blown away - will try main dishes next time, they looks delicious. Thank you for accommodating us with our toddler 🙏

SW London isn’t known for amazing food but this was such a pleasant surprise - firstly the place itself was so cosy with an open kitchen from where you could see the head chef, secondly the service was top notch with recommendations on the food and wine and last but not least - the food(!) - everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the mushroom flat bread and beef carpaccio to start with which followed by the crab pasta and the lemon sole (it’s quite bony so be careful if you order that) with some leaf salad (very fresh) - everything came very quickly and tasted amazing! For desert we had a tiramisu - all I can say - give me 14 of them xxx I highly recommend this place!

This was my favourite meal I’ve had in a while. Everything was superb. The food is all entirely delicious, the portions and presentation is great. The restaurant is an intimate space and the atmosphere is completely buzzy and upbeat. Lastly, but certainly not least, the service is utterly impeccable. Everyone is friendly and warm, and Oyin who looked after us is an absolute gem. 10/10, would come back in a heartbeat!

Really enjoyable date night. Our waiter Nyall was amazing, offering us recommendations and taking photos throughout the night. Very nice decor inside the restaurant and nice location for a date

This restaurant is such a gem! The ambience is cosy and inviting. We went on Saturday afternoon without reservations and were able to get a table. We tried the crab tagliolini and rabbit ragu which was absolutely delicious! And then the dessert… I would highly recommend the Tiramisu Marsala! It was simply exquisite! Not too sweet, hint of the coffee and just delicious. But the most important thing, apart from the food, were the people there and how they made us feel welcome and when there was a small issue with the order the way they went about correcting it! I cannot recommend this place highly enough! We plan to go there again and try some of their other amazing dishes (they do keep updating their menu fairly regularly)!
